African Leather

The hype on this one seems fully justified from where I'm sitting. African Leather is one of several MEMO Paris bottles I own and arguably their most popular and best known work. It goes down with a burst of denatured ethanol lofting some heavy spices and for about a minute or so it is chaotic. Like landing at Lagos airport for the first time, it takes a few minutes to get your bearings and figure it all out. But then it dries down on your skin and the spices change as the florals in the heart emerge into the sunshine. The base is a beautifully judged, lush patchouli, amber and oud that keeps the leather accord here in some semblance of balance whilst offering the whole thing a unique vibrancy and richness. It is a lot nicer than I'm making it sound. Let's think a little now on the idea that some things can be more than the sum of their parts. I'm a lot more than a bald head, sarcasm, bad skin and tattoos, for example. Africa is not just a landmass made up of 54 different countries. African Leather is not just a series of accords; it is the way they are blended and the way they come at you off the skin in certain way. There is some kind of juju magic here. It has a feel akin to watching a pride of lions or a troupe of giraffes in the wild, but it isnt animalic or challenging. It doesn't smell dangerous. Think watching the Atlantic surf break on the deserted sand dune beaches of the Skeleton Coast. It has that kind of majesty. They say some people fall in love with Africa when they visit and African Leather is similarly beguiling. YSL's Tuxedo is my favourite patchouli fragrance of all time but African Leather runs it mightily close despite being as different a scent as it is possible to imagine. If Tuxedo is a hyper-refined, musky, ambery patchouli that sits on the skin like gossamer, African Leather is akin to getting run over by a battered 4x4 of patchouli, spices, old leather and smoky oud. It is resolutely masculine. I don't know any women who would wear this but I am thinking I would like to meet one, one day. The way African Leather dries down is how I imagine watching the sun come up over the Okavango Delta must be like from a plane. It gets better and better, more and more majestic as it dries as the amber comes in. This is signature scent worthy. Interestingly, the silage is mostly spicy leather whereas up close you get a lot more of the patchouli. Ignore anyone who says you cannot wear this to the office: this is an absolute banger of an officer wearer if you don't overspray. Three Word Summary - Majesty Of Africa Layering combination - Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford to push the spices a little sweeter, or Jovoy’s Remember Me if you want to focus on the vanillic facets. Outfit suggestion - Levi 502s, thick brown Prada belt, tan suede chukka boots from Drake’s, fitted white t-shirt tucked in, tan Ralph Lauren or Cucinelli textured field jacket, brown Ray-Bans. ***This is according to my nose, and I encourage you to sample and find your own thoughts! A huge part of why you like/dislike a scent is YOUR memories. Really cool if you haven't looked into it. This. THIS. Truthfully, the closest thing I have to a daily scent. (I think signature scent should be what you wear to something important. Daily is what you like wearing most of the time, signature is your statement piece, what people will remember.) I find this to be MY perfect office/anywhere scent. Now is it a nice but boring Prada-like scent? Not at all. It's warm with an ALMOST creaminess to it.... almost. (Truly creamy is something like Halfetti to my nose.). I find it to be a slightly masculine (women who like more than floral fruits can definitely rock this), slightly complex yet simple enough to be a comforting scent. I understand there is a good number of people here who say this is sharp or medicinal, but I have yet to find a person who smelled this on me who didn't like it. In fact, most comments ask what it is and tell me it's comforting. The only thing I think could make this better is if it had just a bit more rose. You occasionally detect the note in this, and it adds a freshness that only makes it slightly more complex. (African Rose leans too far into this; maybe I can try layering them) If I'm outside in high heat for a decent amount of time, I prefer something along the lines of Vibrato. Any other instance, this is an absolute easy reach My skin gets strong (5ft) projection for 3/4 hours, then a comfortable arms-length bubble for another 4/5 hours. (Though I spray 1-2 extra times compared to my norm with this.) Maybe I just have the perfect skin chemistry for this perfume, but I won't complain. You should give it a shot and see if it does the same for you. Me: 9/10. (I have yet to find a 10/10, but a 9 means I rarely think a tiny change could make it better. I will always have a bottle ready, and want to wear it quite often) My wife: 8.5/10 (Really likes when I wear it, and wants me to keep it in my collection. The additional .5 is because she even asks me to wear it, even though it's seldom. Super impressive, as she usually only likes clean, soapy fragrances.)

I think people see a fragrance with "leather" in the title and expect a fragrance that leans so heavy on the leather that it almost smells almost like realistic leather layered with some other cologne. Tuscan Leather and the Ombre Leather line by Tom Ford come to mind, they both are very very leather heavy and everything else comes second, almost to the point where if I hadn't smelled them before and I smelled either of them on somebody I might think for a moment that they just naturally smell like that and they're wearing a leather jacket. African Leather isn't really like that, nothing by Memo Paris is really. African Leather is about using the leather note as a backbone to paint a picture of a place. It doesn't really use a whole lot of notes that are uniquely African, but the rose and oud in the background in combination with the leather gives it this dry woods vibe topped off by smooth cardamom and a lightly toasted smelling patchouli. This might make it sound like a strong, Middle Eastern, smoky bakhoor type of scent profile on paper, but it's much more interesting than that because it doesn't come off strong at all despite all these "beast mode" notes. Instead it smells like passing through a spice market in the Sahara as the sand travels with you and a mirage of a green, floral oasis ahead of you. I like good performance, but it's a pretty good practice in moderation that makes it a more unique niche fragrance and not one of the thousands of thick oudy niche winter fragrances out there. Putting the artsy desert woods and leather interpretation aside, I think if I were to picture this on a character it would be like a dude in Brooklyn wearing a flat cap and a leather jacket playing dice and hustling people in the 70s. Don't really know why I get that vibe.

Don't Let the Name Fool You: An Unexpected and Refined Spice Blend African Leather, one of Memo Paris’s most talked-about creations, masterfully subverts the expectation of a dark and heavy leather. When I first heard the name, an animalic, exhausting, and harsh leather came to mind. But the moment I sprayed it on my skin, I was greeted by a magnificent, vibrant, and warm breeze of spices instead. The intense balance of cardamom and cumin in the opening is incredibly well-crafted. The earthy, slightly green touch of geranium and vetiver allows the fragrance to breathe beautifully. The leather note here isn’t a screaming leading actor; rather, it acts as a high-quality, soft, and luxurious canvas carrying this entire feast of spices. It feels as though you are wearing a premium, buttery-soft leather jacket while carrying freshly ground exotic spices in your pockets. You can easily feel the smooth note transitions and depth you expect from high-end niche designs. An Unbiased Take: If you are looking for a pitch-black, smoky scent dominated solely by leather, blind buying this based on its name might lead to disappointment. However, if you are after a characterful, potential signature composition where spices take the lead, perfectly balanced by the freshness of vetiver, you should definitely give it a chance. Longevity & Projection: Highly satisfying, yet it doesn’t have a suffocating, synthetically loud nature. It has an elegant stance that creates its own distinct aura. Best Time to Wear: Perfectly suited for crisp autumn winds and the winter months. A high-quality, effortless, and versatile piece of work. It is a masterfully blended modern classic that even those who typically avoid leather can wear with ease.

I originally smelt this from a sample I bought a few years ago, I now own a full bottle as of this year and I have to say that the sample had a certain bite to it that my full bottle doesn’t have. I’m wondering if the sample I had was the original formulation, the opening is really where I notice it but the dry down is almost if not completely identical. The full bottle comes across so much smoother and creamier in the opening especially. That being said, wow... what an amazing fragrance. This is the one that got me into leather and anamalic accords, truly something special here. This is not blind buy safe and definitely for the most part a mature man’s fragrance. I’m in my early 20’s though and for the type of person I am this fragrance still works so don’t let that stop you if you’re concerned. Nice and spicy opening, as stated before with the full bottle the opening has a really nice smooth and creaminess that supports the spice nicely and doesn’t let it become overly spicy. If anything it presents the spices more as what they smell like rather than the spice effect they give off like the sharpness in my sample. This is a dirty anamalic that’s cleaned up with gorgeous florals, never venturing too far into feminine. This is exactly how I think a floral note should smell in a men’s fragrance. For me this is a 10/10, such a unique scent which is definitely signature scent worthy. This is by far the best leather fragrance I’ve ever smelt, the quality of the blend and ingredients is something to praise here. The presentation of the packaging should also be mentioned, it was a very nice unboxing experience and I loved looking for my fragrance on the map inside.

Not as animalic or dark and spicy as I remember people hyping it up to be a few years ago but its still quite nice and pleasant even amongst leather fragrances. Opens up on my skin with a metric tonne of cardamom, pepper, and patchouli, not spicy enough to leave the nose tingling, but definitely warmly spiced enough to be noticed. After the opening I do start to get the Leather but its fairly understated and is behind the cardamom, but its definitely a main player and noticeable on my skin atleast, but it feels almost like an afterthought with how this is made if that makes sense whenever you smell the leather. Because of this I feel like I should almost call thoa fragrance African Cardamom with how big the ratio split is 😂, not that it's a bad thing since I adore cardamom when it's not overdone, but in this I get like 70-80% cardamom and maybe 30-20%ish when comparing the 2, still, the leather isn't animalic and due to being softened and muted by the cardamom, people who are averse to leather could probably find this palatable to an extent which is a plus for wearbility. Speaking of, this is definitely a casual fragrance as it's quite a strong projector on my skin, onky starting to die down to a medium then skin scent projection around 4 or so hours in, with longevity being in the 10-11 hour range, goes without saying but it's very much a colder weather fragrance, leans Masculine but is unisex as well imo. Better than I expected it to be and glad I finally got my nose on it, not something I'd wear even among leather fragrances but its still nice on its own. 8/10

Wow, wow, wow!! African Leather is phenomenal!! It’s a hyped perfume and it’s 100% worth the hype for me. Absolutely incredible. A couple of weeks ago I bought a Memo Paris discovery set after hearing Demi Rawling last year speaking highly of African Leather in several videos. I was interested in the florals included in the set anyway and I wanted to see what’s so special about this particular scent. Well, for me it’s equally spices and leather. And it’s rich, resinous, warm, intense, slightly sweet and soft spicy with rose and patchouli in the background. I don’t like cumin in fragrances in general so I was weary of it but it’s not giving me BO. Is very friendly blended here with cardamom, saffron, leather, rose and patchouli. These are the dominant notes in African Leather to my nose and are creating an intoxicating smell! It’s a strong, long lasting, luxurious scent that I loved as soon as I sprayed it on me. It’s not a immediate purchase since we’re heading towards summer, but it’s going on my to buy list for next fall/winter season. It’s just the right scent profile for cold weather! To me, African Leather is a comfortable and easy to wear leather perfume and it smells classy and expensive. I consider this a top spot fragrance from Memo Paris, alongside Lalibela (my all time warm weather favourite from Memo) and Tamarindo. I do really like Sintra and Irish Leather from what I’ve sampled from the set, but this is superb!! Edit 20.05.25 Added this beauty to my collection. Found it for a great price, so why wait until fall season???!?!

DAMN this is so good. This is the only thing i have that i KNOW performs. I don't have to sniff my wrist. Its there. I smell it. My nose doesn't seem to go blind to it after the first five minutes. Ombre Leather is what got me in the mix. Ombre Leather will always be special to me, but I think this may be better. It has a citrusy freshness that is so nice. I just love it. As soon as the level starts creeping towards the middle, i'll be getting another bottle. I have nothing bad to say about African Leather. Honestly, I could stop buying stuff now and just wear this forever. Dead-safe blind buy. After a sampling session of trying new stuff, i go take a shower and put this on. Look, i don't know wtf a cardamom smells like. I have no idea what saffron smells like and neither do you. So i'm not going to try and describe this thing, but i'm telling you, this is a stone cold motherfucker. I guess it's worth mentioning that i work from home and do not give a single shit about "wearability" or trying to pair fragrances with certain situations and occasions. I care exclusively about a fragrance I enjoy that vibes with my vibe. And this is it. I find it very easy to wear but it's not subtle. It starts bold and stays that way for a good long while.

I got the 200ml bottle for €410 last winter directly from Memo (I see that now it sells for €445 😁) It's definitely signature scent worthy but this is NOT a leather fragrance! It's a warm spicy fragrance where the cardamom is the star of the show! 🌟 ALL Memo Paris leathers are leather fragrances by name only, the leather accord in them is practically non-existent. 🐆 Nonetheless this is my favorite from the house and I have all their "leathers" This should've been called African Savannah. It has a nice musky base and the cardamom along with the exotic spice blend immediately grabs attention. It's a very unique fragrance and it doesn't smell like anything else, which is why I love it and bought the 200ml. Its unique scent profile is what made it so famous, it's even responsible for making Memo Paris the brand they are today! Without African Leather most people would never have heard of Memo Paris! 🇫🇷 Performance is excellent! I have a 200ml of it, and I just bought a 75ml backup bottle even though I still have 180ml left in the first bottle! Yes it's that good! 🐆 However, this should've been called African Savannah not African Leather as the leather accord in it is extremely subtle. However, it's an absolutely well blended formulation which gives you a spicy warm alluring profile! The cardamom is definitely the star of the show with the geranium, oud & and a warm amber accord supporting the complex scent profile. The subtle leather accord in the base gives it depth and character. Definitely signiature scent worthy because it's very unique! The keyword here is unique! Honestly this is one of the best fragrances ever made and it actually made Memo Paris famous. 🌟 This fragrance is actually proof that if you follow your own artistic direction and create something unique, you'll strike gold 🥇 It's also very versatile, oh and the performance is simply beast mode! 💪🏻 🦁 A detailed video review with unboxing are also available on my YT ▶️

The truly Great scents are the ones that help you embody your best self. They evoke your highest qualities. African Leather is just that type of fragrance. With AL I get a beautiful cardamom reminiscent of La Nuit De L’Homme (when you can smell it) with a really nice suede like leather base that’s gets stronger through the dry down . I do get some peppery Terre de Hermes nuances early on from the vetiver as well as some light patchouli and musk. Maybe a hint of Oud. In the heat I think the cumin pops a little more making it slightly but definitely not overbearingly animalic maybe just a bit more of a masculine offering but this can be worn by anyone. Overall it’s a really special fragrance that you know your wearing. I dont want room clearing but I do like to smell what I have on and African Leather creates a beautiful scent bubble that makes me look forward to wearing it. 5/5 right now my favorite fragrance.

Interesting. So just got a full bottle and sprayed it on my left arm. Sprayed a very matured sample (not sure how old) on my right arm and there are some big differences! My sample is so much more rich and dense. The amber and woody oud screams off my skin and the leather note some people claim not to get is definitely there loud and clear. The blend is so smooth. The new bottle smells similar but so much more light and airy. The pink pepper is more prominent making it more spicy and less smooth. The leather note is hardly detectable. I don't think this is a reformulation but simply the sample has oxidized and become more concentrated over time. So, if you are disappointed with a new bottle, it seems like it could benefit from the middle eastern fragrance treatment: Give it a few sprays and let that baby sit and get richer. Fingers crossed my new bottle matures quickly.

First: I hate Memo Paris' naming convention. This is entirely spice and floral dominant, and honestly, no leather or oud. Not all Memo frags with leather in the name have leather in the notes, but this one does, and does not smell like leather, so that was disappointing. Cardamom, pepper, and floral heavy. The rose note doesn't remind me of common rose dominant frags like Delina, Atomic Rose, Radical Rose, and etc, it really just smells like more generically floral. All that being said, still an 8/10 for me. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I still really enjoy it. I would think fairly limited use for this, as I wouldn't wear this in any sort of heat, but it's unique and pleasant. Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10 Scent: 8/10 Full bottle? Yes, but honestly I'd suggest the 30ml. That's what I have and will literally never get through it.

Initially, when I wore it, it threw me off. It has a sharp, medicinal first hit that I believe is the patchouli. However, soon after, it settled down, and it’s incredibly good... but not particularly unique. It reminded me of another fragrance, and I thought I had figured it out. Angel Men Pure Malt. I have some from a dupe (which was very close to the discontinued original) and when I sprayed it on my hand to compare, I realized that this is what Pure Malt should have been or could have been. This fragrance is familiar to those with a whiskey barrel-like smell, so expect that when checking this one out, or if you want to get it. It’s definitely masculine as well. Considering my personal sense of it reminding me of Pure Malt, I’m loving this fragrance and will definitely keep it in my collection. Season: Fall/Winter (More Fall)

Wow definitely an African DNA. After smelling this, I would never buy Tom Ford Ombre Leather just because this is equivalent in terms of smoothness but more interesting as there's a heavy dose of sweet n spicy cardamom. Some floral nuances and definite presence of some green Patchouli. Everything is blended so masterfully. Why I prefer this over something like Ombre leather is just because how unique it smells still being in the same genere. The cherry on the top is the leather n Patchouli used here have some animalistic and pungent smell which after amazing blending created a manly, spicy n floral, mildly animalistic and super smooth leather scent which is quite unique. This would perfectly suit Black Panther as his signature. I see this on a very nicely toned attractive African man who is quite stylish and likes wearing gold.

Wow, this is a fantastic scent. It opens with warm and clean-smelling spices, then settles into spiced leather with a herbal/camphorus patchouli undertone...it reminds me of fir balsam, but supposedly it’s not in this scent. I do not detect any Oud, and I’m glad I don’t since it would overpower the balance between these notes. What surprised me most is the fragrance has a ton of dense elements in it, but the final product is actually clean smelling. The leather is not raw or animalic, rather it smells like treated old school leather, similar to what my mom’s prized and ancient Louis Vuitton purse smells like. I will wear this in the fall and winter, mostly at night, but you can absolutely pull this off in the day, too. The fir I’m detecting would make me not want to wear this in hot weather, but to each their own. 9.3/10

It's in the same genre with L'air du desert marocain by Tauer? Yes! Are these 2 similar? No! Both share a sort of the same dna but when you smell these 2 side by side you'll notice the differences. LDDM is much dryer and is focused only on spices and amber. Memo also has a lot of spices, amber like aroma and also leather which is more a sensation but this is one of the diferences. Also Memo has some sweetness and the performance is better than LDDM(i have a batch from feb 2024, 67%). LDDM feels 100% niche, Memo it's like a mix between designer and niche, a very good one. OK, for average Joe or someone who is used with generic type of the modern release, Memo could be harsh or to heavy. In conclusion, these 2 are very good fragrances, i love both and owing both is not rendundant. On a scale from 1 to 10 i'll give it a 9.

Someone asked me how I would describe African Leather in just three sentences. After 30 minutes or more of trying to figure out what attracts me to it (because I knew I liked it, but I didn't know how to describe why) this is what I wrote: 1)African Leather won me over with an explosion of spices that exudes raw power, beautifully sublimated by Memo's signature refinement. 2)It is a fragrance of duality, offering a sense of profound comfort while keeping the senses in a state of constant alertness (even after four hours, it feels less like a simple scent and more like a meditative state). 3)This fascinating ambivalence captivates the attention, transforming the experience of wearing it into a constant dialogue between safety and stimulation. This is the impact it has on me; this is how I perceive it.

Cumin cardemom bergamott front and center giving this beauty a almost Coca cola bright fizzy opening that dies down almost directly, bergamott makes place for the geranium and vetiver, the cardamom and cumin are the strongest players here and the saffron is very toned down, its dry and spicy but still smooth and sensual, it has a hint off dirtyness thanks to the oud and patchouli playing nice with the cumin, its very linear and stays almost the same during its lifespan but thats just fine cause its a real beauty Iff you like rochas moustache,tuxedo, tauer dessert M ,layton This might be your jam Iff you find cumin smells like BO then this might not be a great blind buy, cause cumin is the main note here Oh and Leather? Well no...its patchouli and saffron.. Should call this Moroccan spice Bazar

Let me start out with i am not a fan of leather fragrances and I love this banger. Not really sure why this is called African Leather, I wouldnt consider this a leather fragrance at all by any means. Its very subtle in the background. This should be called African Cardamom Awesomeness lol. I put this off for a while because I thought it would be more of an in your face leather, so if your like me and also not a huge fan of leather dont worry about it and at least get a decant of this and I assure you youll more than likely going to want a full bottle. I havent smelled tuxedo but this is how I actually imagined it would be. This just makes me think all black suit dressed to the nines. This is an all year fragrance for sure, in summer though go lighter on the sprays.

This is a masterpiece of a fragrance, very complex and long lasting scent. Sweet leathery scent with a hint of spices, African Leather is a great summer/fall fragrance, but not a safe blind buy in my opinion. I see this rated as more male on fragrantica but in my opinion i would say it is unisex, as i can see this worn by a woman. The day i got this i decided to test it out and i went to a doner place to get some food. The person standing in the back and making the food said that since i came into the place it smells great and asked me what fragrance i was wearing, all that through the smell of meat and fries, so i would say the sillage is really good. Smell: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 8/10 Price: 5/10 (based on purchase price of 125 euro for 75ml bottle)

The opening of this fragrance is stunning, with a harmonious blend of spiced cardamom and floral notes. I really love the initial impression—Memo did an excellent job on the opening. Expect the projection to be quite strong for the first hour, reaching about arm's length. After an hour, the leather emerges more prominently, complemented by subtle woody undertones. The dominant elements are undoubtedly cardamom and leather. In the mid, the projection diminishes to about a foot but remains noticeable. By the dry-down, around the sixth hour, the scent becomes more intimate, settling close to the skin with a rich, soft, and spiced leather aroma, accompanied by a hint of wood that endures for over eight hours as a skin scent.

Absolute peak. Elegant, yet daily-able, masculine, but not overdone. Has the perfect balance of projection, and longevity. Has the perfect balance for everything, to me at least, to be honest. Not too leathery, so perhaps not true to its name, but very nice, warm, spicy, interesting smell. Fell in love with it, but couldn’t bring myself to spend 230€ for the bottle(found it first at a niche perfume shop, while on vacation). Then after long time contemplating, I got the small bottle as a christmas gift from my lady. Would I buy it? At some point I’m absolutely sure I would, because for now it’s my favorite of all. If you like spicy, not overly masculine frags, it’s worth to give it a try.

This is a top 5 in my collection and its completely unique to anything I've smelled. In the opening, its mainly a beautiful blend of sharp spices and aromatics. Cardamom is the main spice I get. The spices and aromatics stay around the whole life of the fragrance that give it this almost key lime pie style of spice. As it dries down, I get more of a texture of leather than an actual leather smell. I also get something dark but it doesn't smell like oud like the notes suggest. Stuff lasts easily 10 hours and a woman smelled me down the aisle in a grocery store and said "you smell good, no you smell gorgeous", so I imagine the projection is pretty good. 10/10

This is stunning, really difficult to pick out individual elements as it’s so well blended. For me it’s clean medicinal in the opening I get spice which is obviously from the pink pepper but it’s what it develops into which grabs me. It’s got a medicinal smell which is probably why I associate this with a clean smell but the florals in it maintain an elegance. Completely unisex but one I grab in the winter months. While sweet it’s not sickly or cloying. It lasts and it keeps pushing so one you can wear with confidence it’ll last the day. Unique enough to grab attention but airy enough not to fill a room and offend. Must have for anyone’s collection. 9.5/10

Truly a signature scent worthy fragrance. This was my first introduction to Memo Paris and man I am so glad it was. Everyone says this is their top favorite and I can see why. It’s so addictive and warm with a touch of floral and leather. It’s inviting you in and you won’t stop smelling yourself. The warm spices dominates the opening and the soft leather comes in with a little floral rose note and some slight oud. It’s just a fantastic fragrance that I find myself wishing I got a full size. I saw this house online after looking around for what I may buy next. I saw this exact fragrance and also winter palace, by memo too. Honestly speaking I went in blind and bought both praying that they would turn out well. I am genuinely astonished at how good both of these are. Especially African leather. This fragrance is so well crafted and all of the notes harmonise together to create an absolute masterpiece. Every time I wear this I am asked what I am wearing. Pleasantly surprised and will definitely be buying more of this once I run out of my currently bottle Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 6/10 Scent: 10/10

Spicy woody soft amber, The first time I wore African Leather it was an instant love. Warm spicy notes, animalic leather, and the unmistakable smell of an old wooden incense box. It was gorgeous. Every subsequent wearing however, was missing that divine leather note. Not to say it wasn't there, just that I could no longer smell it. Very disappointing. Either my olfactory senses have tuned out the leather, or it was never very prominent to begin with... Without the leather it's a fine warm spicy woody fragrance. Not worth the asking price though. Not at retail or discounters--not without that leather.

Every time I wear African leather, I feel like the best version of myself confident, sharp, untouchable and sexy. It’s rich, very spicy, and leathery in the best way you can imagine. And you guys wonder about the reactions people get when they smell this??? It is insane. Women and guys can’t get enough of it. I’ve never had a scent pull this many compliments and had as many people ask me what i am wearing no jokes. Lasts all day long 12h + and has nuclear projection. Very expensive but 100% worth it. I rate it 11/10 what a true olfactive masterpiece this is.

Impressive... I just love the notes in this. So wearable and easy to pull off. Love it from the openning till the dry down. Extremely recommended if you're looking for a "Spice" forward perfume, which is not that complex or hard to understand, but with enough evolution to keep it interesting. You're not offending anyone with this, a real crowd pleaser from my experience. Right now one of my favorites in my rotation. Also, do not expect any strong leather from this.. if you're looking for something more leathery this is not it.

Omg it's perfekt. Got myself another guy's bottle, a 2 year old batch "200 ml" directly from Memo Paris website 150 ml back in the bottle. Tested it against another 75 ml from a discounter website "7 months old". There is a big difference between them, in performance, in smotthnes of the spice blend, in the staying power siage and richness of the Cardamom. For me worth to have a 75 ml back up bottle for 10 years just staying in the box and save it for when i am ready to rediscover its magic.

Stellar This is really nice, this is really overpriced too. Got a 10ml of this only but I would be inclined to buy a full bottle upon completion. But I struggle with the more expensive bottles. Will see if I get through 10ml before we cross that bridge. Maybe buy another 10ml. How to describe it? Dusty spices (cardamon), enhanced by mild oud in the dry down (heavenly), sweetened with some florals, and some warmth from leather/amber. It is a really nice signature/any time any place fragrance.

What a fragrance, what a special fragrance, this is beast mode performance and I got bare compliments when I wore this to my staff party. It's worth it guys. The opening isn't that nice but it doesn't last. I found out that people around me love the scent in that air. I love the dry down. 24 hours later I'm still smelling this fragrance on me, and yes Im proud to say I'm a over sprayer. I sprayed it 15 times on my cloths and skin and it was summer also. I love it

This is unlike any leather scent you will ever smell. It is so unbelievably well refined and smooth. The leather is in the background while the spices dance together at the front. This reminds me very much of Terre d’Hermes but more darker and way more addictive. Performance could be a little bit better, I would say it’s 6-8 hours max. The first 3-4 hours is where it’s thriving the most and then drifts towards a skin scent. Signature scent worthy in every sense.

Absolute masterpiece. Perfect manly gentle leather- oud scent wrapped with this sweet- fresh- spicy feeling on top that gives it both a light feeling with the patchouli and rose that gives floral elegance that finishes with a deep leather- oud smell. Perfect everyday signature smell throughout the fall and lighter winter days. 9/10 imo the only thing that could be better is a more creamy vanilla note to base the cinnamon that is a bit underwhelming.

African Leather. Cardamom, Cardamom and even more SPICY CARDAMOM. If I were to describe this one it would just be the above statement. This cologne is absolutely worth it. You'll wanna find this one at discounters forsure because you'll have better luck selling a damn kidney on the black market with Memo's prices. This one is a BEAST and will last if you got the right chemistry for it. Cardamom and Leather is just a beautiful combination. 10/10.

I just have to say, something about this is timeless and yet incredibly modern. The structure is comparitive to Layton with a similar, albeit more uplifting and dry feel with a slightly fresher leather note instead of a smooth vanilla. In my opionion, this is the way a put-together, handsome, and well travelled man smells. It isn’t mature rather its confident. I wear this all the time and its quickly becoming my most worn and complimented frag!

It's hard to dislike this, an extremely wearable niche like PDM Layton. The spice up top is very fresh and there is an underlying creamy sweetness from cardamom that makes it too alluring in the air. Geranium and rose balance the earthy patchouli and oud so well and make this fragrance one of the most well blended and unique compositions. Im not a big leather fan but the leather here is very aromatic and far from animalic. Id rate it 8.5/10

1st MP fragrance. Blind buy. Absolutely worth it. This give me such an exotic "rich man wallet" smell. The leather is very appealing. It's also quite potent. 2 spray behind my ear/neck and I can smell it most of my work day. I'd say about 5 hours so before a top off. The leather and the cinnamon is most prominent to my nose. Easy to wear in the office. Somewhere more upscale. Im gonna wear this quite often

Wow.... speechless! What a beautiful scent this one. Added it last week in my collection and cannot stop wearing it! And it is summer in Greece, if you know you know. 35 degrees Celsius and this performs like a beast, people around me love it, I adore it, straight up to my top-5!!!! Such an easy perfume to ear on, leans heavily masculine, but wouldn't be out of place in a daring woman's collection as well.

Surprised at all the reviews saying this isn't animalic. The dry down isn't but the open is heavy barnyard animalic funk oud! lol But it doesn't last long. Maybe 5-10 minutes. Then it is the beautiful scent everyone is describing. The cardamom, leather, rose, and woody oud are the heavy hitters. But the other notes round out the spice and fresh aromatics. It's a classic for a reason. 9.5/10

Camphor Spirits Glycerin leather ? I oversprayed and had a bad day in a bad cloud ... I choose 3 moments a year for this Memo; I usually smell camphor spirit the entire trip, a scent that made me cringe even as a child. Sorry, of all the junk I have by now, I think this is the biggest disappointment of all. Africa has countless scent associations, but I really didn't see this one coming!!

I usually keep this for cold weather only, but i wore it yesterday in Arizona when it was 110F out and it completely surprised me. It went from a creamy/warm/spicy leather to a piercingly fresh/citric/woody iso e super summer BEAST! In the same vein as Terre D Hermes, replacing the dirty orange citric note for a slightly yellow and leathery citric note. Love it!

Right off, spicy pepper with touch of camphorous cardamom and cool, minty geranium leaf. That said, it doesn’t read as green cardamom to me, and I cook with it a lot so know the smell very well. 30 minutes in, the opening is still strong, but I am starting to notice the rose a bit, and the patchouli and wood are becoming apparent. The leather is still elusive.

A sumptuous scent that immediately brought me back to my time living in the Middle East. Smells like something an Emirati woman would wear, but isn't overpowering or heavy. Complex, warm, inviting, and evocative, it reminded me of scurrying across the lobby of the Emirates Palace hotel trying to take a sneaky pic of the gold vending machine.

If you are going to buy this fragrance for the leather scent, don't buy it but if you like the feel of leather and it is nice and original, you can buy it. The use of leather is not enough for a perfume called African Leather, it is definitely not too mature. I think it is a suitable perfume for a blind buy, I don't think you will regret it.

My bottle is from May 2020. After four hours, it's a bit more than a fantastic skin scent. Considering the €255 price tag for €75ml, a bit more projection and longevity wouldn't have been out of place. So, I oversprayed it, but that certainly didn't improve the scent. So, be careful, you can ruin this one by overspraying.

I'll keep it short. This is absolutely f**king stunning. I have no idea why this stayed off my radar for so long but I am in no doubt whatsoever that it will occupy a top-five slot in my 100+ collection. Gorgeous, sparkling citrus burst, followed by a warm, inviting, utterly enrapturing melange of spice and mature wood.
