Tamarindo

This scent is a little piece of paradise like is Tamarindo beach, it’s brilliant sunsets and the surrounding areas of vibrant jungles in Costa Rica. It’s a tropical punch which gives me an energy in the middle of the grey Finnish winter - yes, this winter has been gray not white. The scent is fruity and sweet but in the same time so elegant and classy. Pineapple in the opening is deliciously juicy and the floral heart with delicate Peach is absolutely ravishing. The base is warm and the creamy texture reminds me of Piña Colada and Coconut even if it’s not there. “Tamarindo is lined with lush wilderness, surrounded by turquoise waters beyond the primal forest and mountains. Giant tamarind trees are home to colourful parrots, their cries ringing through the jungle, the warm forest air made humid with forgotten scents. A round of captivating notes, a dizzying dance beneath the sun. Tamarindo is a well-guarded secret, a joyful landscape, a trail of happiness, a solar scent.” Syncopated dance of drums, oil of jasmine, soft graze of Guanacaste leaves, as green as emeralds. Pineapple catches the light with each facet. It blossoms like a flower beneath the Cardamom sun, caressed by the frothy spray of bergamot. Vanilla takes on a soft, red glow. Though I’m swept away by the benzoin wind, though the breaking waves turn my heart patchouli, I return to Tamarindo where the jungle is a show of art. Between the giant spiders and the happy lizards, inspiration takes on a heady scent. If you find Tamarindo too tropical or too sweet, I recommend you to try "Madurai | Memo Paris" which is more Jasmine scent with a subtle hint of Peach (the review made). It has creamy, woody base. Or if you want a tad similar vibe but something more intimate I recommend to try "Flåm | Memo Paris" . I'm madly in love with this one. I got it from a place that decants fragrances, and in the past, I've had issues with said place's bottles evaporating or being extremely watered down. Therefore, I'm hopeful that the performance might be even better once I get my full sized bottle, but even as is, I'm not mad at it. Yes, it does remind me a bit of Coco Mademoiselle, which is a fragrance that I also love, but it's also so different. The spiciness of the cardamom, the tropical fruits, and the overall composition of notes is just so different. I can see why it gets compared to it, but it's definitely its own fragrance as well. On me, cardamom is very peppery, and I love that about it. Would I consider this to be a tropical perfume? Well, despite having the likes of pineapple and coconut in it, it's not as fresh as a lot of other traditionally tropical fragrances. I wouldn't say that this is a freshie, per se, but it's not rich or cloying either. It walks the fine line between being a good all-rounder because it's neither fresh nor heavy. I picture exotic, sandy dunes and faraway places whenever I smell this. In the first two hours of wearing this, I was disappointed because it didn't project that well on me. However, it crept up on me. Over time, it heated up on my body chemistry and became stronger and stronger. I am wearing this in winter, though, so it might not be the most ideal conditions for it. I can't wait to test it in the summer and spring. I can definitely still smell it after 8 hours of wear but it's in a far more intimate scent bubble than it was at in its peak a few hours ago. Nevertheless, I am enamored with this scent and am ordering a full bottle as soon as possible. P.S. - Try layering this with a vanilla fragrance to make it richer, deeper, and more intense. Tamarindo + Kayali Vanilla 28 = divine!

I love Memo's Tamarindo a lot. It is incredibly fresh, zesty, summer fragrance with an opening of pineapple and drydown of white florals. It's very sweet and juicy. The fruit accord is what makes it so unique and beautiful. We are all tired of those "beachy" and salty coconut-style fragrances for the summer with notes of exotic fruits, but this one is a stunner. It's definitely very unique due to the fact that it's so potent, not salty or marine, not too much on a coconut, and just perfectly balanced. I imagine it's inspired partially by Aventus, but I have never smelled Aventus, so let me know! The coconut here is soft and mostly is hidden (unlike the coconut in Heretic Perfums Dirty Coconut), it's more like the coconut in Tom Ford's Soleil Blanc. When you compare it to other fruity fragrances, it's really standing alone. It's not as bitter as Tom Ford's Bitter Beach, nor is it musky like the Tiziana Terenzi's Draco. It has nothing to do with spices unlike Plum Japonais, and it's not as light and "transparent" as Diptyque's Ilio. Finally it is only semi-sweet, nothing like Jo Malone's perfumes (Nectarine and Honey comes to mind). The closest "vibe" I get is JHG "Pear inc", but that one is heavy on pear with similar drydown though.

Tamarindo opens with fresh, juicy pineapple, mixed with overripe peaches and some sweet citruses. The floral notes that stands out the most in my experience in this gorgeous juice are lush jasmine and creamy tuberose. I don’t get here any coconut, ylang-ylang, cardamom or vanilla. From the base notes what shines the most on me is patchouli and benzoin. Patchouli very nice blended with pineapple and zesty citruses, such a good combo!! To summarise, I would say that Tamarindo is a well rounded fizzy, sweet pineapple combination with warm benzoin and strong, clean patchouli. A tropical, fruity, floral, patchouli bomb! Also, I have Coco Mademoiselle and I can say that Tamarindo is somewhat similar especially in the base to CM but Tamarindo it’s a more exotic/tropical variation of Coco Maidemoiselle. Similar but different to justify having both in my collection. I am happy to own both because Tamarindo will be my spring/summer fruity patchouli and Coco will be fall/winter pick. Performance on this one is moderate to long lasting but it doesn’t project too much so it’s perfect for summer wear without being too much in the high heat.

Luv this fragrance for myself ! I can envision me rocking this on the Las Vegas strip... having fun while hanging out w/ friends. I have to disagree w/ those who are saying it leans very feminine. I feel it’s unisex tho I will admit that this is a bit more versatile for a woman than a man. I think it’s the sweetness and the pineapple that’s pulling me in and not letting me go. The jasmine is not so pronounced on my skin. Its actually a little bit GREEN. I get a creamy sweet pineapple still hanging from its vine. The only things I don’t dont like about this is the performance. 4-6 hrs just doesn’t cut it. I can still detect it in a waft after that 4-6, but that’s just because it’s sitting on a piece of my clothing. It’s not one of those fragrances that partners with your skin and together they do something amazing. This babe works alone lol.

To me, this is the quintessential tropical island fragrance. While most pineapple scents lean into the boisterous, loud nature of the fruit, Tamarindo tames that energy with sophisticated white flowers. It’s luxurious and, judging by the compliments I’ve received, simply lovely. However, its utility is specific. It feels less like an everyday "summer next door" scent and more like a dedicated tropical/beach fragrance that works beautifully for vacation days (and nights). Given the high price point for such a niche use case, I’d suggest starting with a small sample, it’s a fantastic "secret weapon" to have in your travel bag.

Went to Paris for the first time in June. Tried this at a shop on the Champs Elysees. Couldn’t get it out of my head. It lasted so long & smelled so yummy. Bought it the next day at the Galaries de Lafayette. Tropical yet warm scent that transports me to an island in the Pacific. I have a sweet adult beverage in my hand as I lay in a lounge chair that sits in white sand. Sexy men & women with tanned skin walk by & I smell their tanning oil. I’m immersed in sun & relaxation. This is an absolutely indulgent gourmand without being cloying. Great for summer - day or night.

For me this is sweet, warm, syrupy pineapple with all the acidity removed. Supporting the pineapple is a moist, lush nature smell I suppose provided by the patchouli note combined with the florals. Tropical paradise - not beachy- in a bottle. Quite linear on me. Decent sillage to begin with, got a compliment wearing this on a warm day. But the longevity on me is either no good, or I've become quickly anosmic? I thought Memo had a good reputation when it comes to longevity. Still hoping I can somehow solve this issue to justify buying a full bottle.

Fresh, tropical, and lush. Sweet and citrus, but not overwhelmingly fruity to me. The pineapple is present, but not too heavy. After the first 15 minutes the fruit mellow out, and the florals are more forward. I think the coconut balances the mids so its not too floral. I think the patchouli base & the cardamom lend a spicy edge. It definitely an interesting fragrance. I picked up a .027 oz vial, and I'm glad I did. I think this will really shine as the weather gets warmer, and I may very well pick up a full bottle in the future.

I got it as a gift so when I read that its main thing was pineapple i was shocked, i never knew there were pineapple scents in perfumes. But as i used it i grew to love it, it's like vanilla and pineapple had a love child, sweet and fruity but not overbearing. Definitely a summer scent. Giving me outgoing and talkative fun friend vibe. It's been a few years and i have 1/4 left. Kind of a hit or miss, my sister absolutely detests it, my friends think it smells bold and fun. Would recommend if you love vanilla!

Amazing. It is luxurious. Effortless. High quality is obvious by how well it wears. It wears in 25+Celsius as if a most refreshing cologne, yet it is hot and tropical scent-wise. It is the most elegant pineapple I've ever met in parfume. It is the most magnificent bergamot a top of it. The most sensual benzoin and patchouli, never felt them so refreshing but here. It is orange, it is jasmin and tuberose as canvas. It is how hot paradise breeze full of fruits and vegetation smells. I love it.

I sampled three memo fragrances and this beauty was one of them. Tamarindo is a story of pineapple and his friends. I smell notes of jasmine, coconut, tuberose, peach and patchouli, but they all act as sidekicks to the pineapple note. In the opening, I wasn't impressed, but I held on and as it developed, so did my appreciation. I rarely sample niche fragrances and when I do, I'm rarely this impressed. This is worth the big bucks, and that's all I have to add to the evidence base.

This is a well balanced pineapple-floral which leaves me with the feeling of being at a beautiful tropical resort in the late spring with flowers in full bloom. I love the citrus pineapple-jasmine opening. Over the next few hours it retains good projection with modest application. Vanilla, cardamom, and benzoin provide a creamy lushness to the fragrance. I do not pick up patchouli, but it may have been added to provide subtle depth and endurance.

Sweet, tropical pineapple goodness - these smells like a cross between Angel Iced Star and Angel eau Croisiere, but with less patchouli (not that there's much patchouli in those 2 flankers). Very nice sweet syrupy goodness. I swear I smell fig in there?! Along with soft tropical flowers and pineapple. I don't know that I need it as well as Iced Star and eau Croisiere though.

No, this is not similar to Coco Mademoiselle edt. This is a pineapple bomb. The beginning is so juicy and fresh yet sweet in a natural way. It is easy to like - another Memo that could be a good blind buy. I find it easy to wear and a bit unisex. The coconut and white florals are in the base, but aren't prominent. The pineapple can be smelled even in the drydown. GORGEOUS.

Love this. Something very uniquely gender fluid about it yet sweetly tropical with a bit of floral spice and boldness I’ve not smelt before. Exactly what I’ve been looking for before my vacation. I’m shocked it has benzoin as a person not fond of benzoin notes. Has a dirtiness to it that I don’t mind, it’s actually pleasant. Might be from the benzoin 🤣

This one is absolutely decadent! I get a rich, fleshy, pineapple creamsicle. It's like Hawaii in a bottle. I think it's unisex with a slight lean toward feminine. I love it! It's pretty linear, but that works for me. The only reason I'm not going for the full bottle is the price. $295 is a little steep, but if money's not an object, go for it!

A sultry, sexy take on a piña colada. Creamy and a little boozy, with a whole lotta warmth from the spices and cardamom. I am not a fan of fruity fragrances, but this is just so delicious! I'm hording multiple samples, but I know one day I'll buy the full bottle. Such a special scent, and worth a try!

This is such a beautiful, grown-up scent. The fruits are not sickly but refined and realistic. The florals don't overwhelm, and I don't normally like benzoin but in this it gives almost an incense-y vibe. Love this scent, just wish it lasted longer! I only get an hour or two before having to refresh.

This is a beautiful beast. It’s so much more than the sum of its parts too. I thought I would never enjoy a fragrance with patchouli but this obliterated that theory. It’s bright yet warm. Definitely a sweet, fruity, floral fragrance. I could see myself wearing this year-round.

It is a perfume that fits well in the niche category, where the pineapple feels very nice, the perfume is very thinly built around the sweet notes. It is original and open to general appreciation. Easy to carry and sweet yet definitely tiring or fed up

I find no resemblance to Coco Mademoiselle. This fragrance smells summer, the fruit of summer. It's tropical, it's fruity without being sweet. It's a beautiful creation by Memo Paris. 💜 Unisex 🔥 Hot Seasons 📌 Personal Note: 7.5 / 10

It’s deliciously well blended, smooth, performance could be a bit better. It’s much more feminine than unisex, I don’t think I can pull this one off as a man. But smells beautiful. 8.5/10

Kind of beachy, but in the most luxurious way possible. White florals, pineapple, coconut and patchouli are what I notice the most. I'm a bit addicted to it.

I recently ordered decants of JHAG Mmmm..., Memo Tamarindo and D&S Durga Pistachio. I didn't mean to order three fragrances that all have a vanilla and patchouli base but here I am... These three all have similar DNA, but Tamarindo is the freshest and most summery of the bunch, owing much of its lightness to a profusion of white flowers that reminds me of Tokyo Milks 20,000 Flowers Under the Sea. Though not listed in the notes, Tamarindo, to my nose also has a slightly aquatic quality that, too, is reminiscent of the Tokyo Milk scent. I am not getting the coconut as some other reviewers have mentioned - or if it is there it synthesizes with the white flowers to create a sunny beach accord that's uplifting. Similarly, nothing overtly screams pineapple to me either, but it's sparkling there with the sunny beach accord. The wear time on this outlasts those of the other two that mentioned (as I am testing them simultaneously). Interesting that out of the three, this one lasts for the longest by far, given that it's relatively light on its feet. After the first hour, the patchouli really comes to the forefront, but it isn't heavy, so much as earthy and grounding. Paired with the white flowers, the patchouli simply gives it a rich "green" effect, though there remains a clear nod to Angel. I've really enjoyed this fragrance, and am now excited to try more from Memo Paris. This scent is not at all what I was expecting, but is somehow more, and works well not only on warm, sunny days but is comforting on a cool, fall day as well.

A sun-drenched hallucination of paradise refracted through the lens of tastefully posh perfumery, Tamarindo opens with a jubilant fizz, the citrus pop bright, zesty, mouth-watering, but fleeting. Then, pineapple, firstly the fun artificial cocktail kind, then its balmy golden nectar that suggests not a fruit bowl but sunset-glazed skin and silk kaftans fluttering in warm air. That gauze of refinement, too! The Memo DNA, where beachside sunscreen clichés are twisted with a soft-spoken, milky woodiness. Plush vanilla, sheer tropical flowers, jasmine sambac and a dusting of frangipani. Sun without sweat. The peach and citrus linger just enough to flirt with the aldehydic shimmer in the drydown—those Chanel comparisons below are not unfounded, but I find Tamarindo's sparkle to be unmistakably brighter, more barefoot-than-ballet-flat. Aldehydes whispering on a hammock, not on a pearl earring. What sets this apart too is that impression of warm skin, sand-salted and sun-kissed, given even more texture by a dusty warm benzoin and deep patchouli. While I'm not the biggest a fan of these two notes, I will have to admit that here they contribute a low warmth, a grainy texture that elevates the fruits and grounds the florals. Like the moodboard of a tropical holiday, this scent is more place than smell. Not bad at all.

A Warm Slumber... ... in the last light of a long sunset The way the fragrance unfolds on me communicates a prophecy on how I may age with time: The first spray is wonderful and unisex, with a bright citrus that is grounded by a spicy warm vanilla. As the fragrance begins to wilt to intimate silage, it sheds its brighter notes until the last note standing is vanilla. While vanilla has positive associations for me (think: baked goods, a warm home and friendly hospitality), it’s almost too nurturing for me here, as it keeps me in a long and reluctant slumber. If this glimpse into the future is valid, then this is not how I would prefer to age: I hope to stay refreshingly vivacious and spontaneous. Still, I am very impressed by the fragrance’s quiet and self-assured presence. Actually, it reminds me of the kind of soap that I might find at a high end beauty salon. The scent’s reassuring and sweet effect reminds me of Prep Rally by Dry Bar. To reinvigorate myself, and break through the subduing and monotonous power of the vanilla, I tried spritzing a layer of my fruity floral scent on top, which helped me wear this product more happily. On its own, I imagine that it’s a wonderful transition scent between seasons, day or night. Silage is moderate to intimate, turning skin intimate within the hour for me.

The opening takes you several places in quick succession. Immediately after spraying it's very boozy. The alcohol they used here doesn't smell like rubbing alcohol - like in most cheap frags. It smells like whiskey. Like there's actual whiskey in this thing. Anyway, once the alcohol evaporates, I'm suddenly hit with the smell of chinese dried fruits...like dried peaches. A couple of minutes later cardamom takes over. Overwhelmingly. Cardamom is also used in chinese medicine so it also smells like that. Weird that for a frag named Tamarindo there doesn't appear to be any tamarind notes. 15 mins after spraying the cardamom appear to be ramping down. I wonder how this will develop next - fruity or flowery? 45 mins in vanilla and benzoin. Weird. I never got any of the citruses, the peach, the white flowers or the coconut. 1hr 15 mins it's all vanilla now. A slightly bugspray smelling vanilla. I think I already reached the base notes and this has nothing left to give as far as development. Just waiting for this to dissipate so I can give an assessment of longevity. 5 hrs in the vanilla base is still there but significantly faded. At this rate expected longevity is around 6-7 hrs. 7.5 hrs in. It's practically gone. So total longevity is 7-8 hrs depending on skin chem.

I was expecting a pina colada vibe when I first heard of this one. It is not quite like pina colada, but tropical regardless. The top consists of a fizzy sweet pineapple and fruits with a hint of tang to balance the sweetness, followed by smooth, very lightly creamy undertones. The creaminess is not gourmand or suntan lotion-y as you might imagine from the notes. It is more of an almost shampoo-like cream. This is actually something I like about it, because these coconut/creamy beachy scents could easily turn into a suntan lotion vibe, or become quite tacky. Tamarindo however, keeps the coconut and tuberose blend just balanced and faint enough to be a youthful yet well composed, sophisticated version of a tropical fragrance. If you're looking for a strong, heady coconut or tuberose, this is not it. The "creamy" notes- tuberose, coconut, vanilla and ylang ylang are all blended here quite softly to create that creamy shampoo-like consistency.

At first, I did not care for this scent at all. Too screechy with my chemistry - probably the tuberose and jasmine. A couple of months passed, and my nose adjusted I suppose. It is still predominantly white floral, but the bright fruit, almost over-ripe (redolent of Pulp, though lighter), notes balance it out. The coconut is more a suggestion of creaminess than beach, and I don’t pick up on the patch yet. Since I typically avoid gardenia/tuberose/jasmine white florals, this one was added to the collection after finding a good offer. Id you have well-performing fragrances of a similar composition, it may not be. If you are in a hot, humid climate, be careful about summer days. This one could be overwhelming then and better serve for fall or spring.

Tamarindo reminded me of the modern version of Boucheron for women; they got similar potpourri mix of green elements, orange notes, white floral, yellow floral, benzoin, amber, and vanilla. While Tamarindo doesn't have the beady eyed civet as a note like Boucheron, I see in the comments about noting the animalic smell in this too. Bottomline, I appreciate the staying power of Tamarindo, I think it's very tropical and floral - the pineapple gives a nice tart quality to it which I guess gives the name Tamarindo. Wearable in hot tropical heat for vacation, but the florals might be too strong for some.

Too heavy and sweet for me, I’m in a Fleur Narcotique or Angel Dust by Fugazzi kind of mode right now (it’s late July)...but as it dries down I will say the scent trail is delicious. The fruits don’t automatically scream Summer to me, the patch and other base notes make it feel more Autumnal if anything. I do believe once this dries down fully it fill flow in the air quite beautifully. If it were that way from first spray I would probably love it. If I’m going to love it, I need to love all phases of it. But it’s better than okay, it’s a Like for me.

I was immediately impressed when I first smelled it. The initial citrusy yet amber mix is very clever. This unisex fragrance is good for the spring and summer, although its powdery tones may lean a bit more feminine. Works great on me though. The drydown is definitely powdery and tropical, with its coconut and pineapple tones. I am not sure that I am pleased with the longevity though. I wish it lasted longer. I got 6 hours from it, after which it became skin scent. All in all, I would recommend it. Rating: 8/10

I was not expecting the initial patchouli-pineapple bomb opening but it softens right away and gets really good!! This is such a great summer scent in which every single note envelopes the patchouli. The pineapple, ylang ylang and the florals really shine here and the patchouli adds depth to the sweet and floral notes. I get the Coco Mademoiselle reference. A softer version with added sweetness. In the drydown the gourmand notes tone down and the vanilla appears. This stage is so pleasant & understated.

When you read "oriental spicy' you can imagine something dark and mysterious. On the contrary Tamarindo is much more fresh-sweet-flowery-fruity type of scent. It's very pleasant, develops nicely but doesn't last long. I almost lost it's impression on my skin after 5 hours... It could be the perfect vacation fragrance, seriously, but it's definitely not the one for the serious evening affair, as one may have thought thinking of benzoin and patchouli. I like it though, very uplifting perfume, try it!

First spray is boozy, then the pineapple sets in for a short time, then... it's all about the jasmine and tuberose. Tried it two times but I'm not sure I find Tamarindo growing on me. I wouldn't describe this fragrance as a joy ride in terms of an olfactory journey but it certainly is pleasant and easy to wear - not a safe blind buy though;- the combo pineapple + jasmine + tuberose + coconut + patchouli can be a bit off-putting. Fragrance for spring and summer - daytime.

Starts with super-sweet pineapple that made me feel that probably this composition is not for me. After 10-15 minutes when sour notes calm down and vanilla appears the scent becomes less sweet and suffocating, but still it can be heard from an arm distance very easy. Interesting that perfume has air in it: you can sniff it and you want more like it has oxygen behind it sweetness. Base notes are gorgeous: soft vanilla with wood and just a pinch of incense. Lovely 🥰

smells fucking great. projection really sucks i will say it turns into a skin scent within an hour plus. steep price point for lackluster projection, only worth picking up if you truly love the scent/snag a tester bottle for like ~100usd. i love it tho so i’d repurchase if i ran out

Such a warm and lovely fragrance. I don’t really smell the fruitiness myself however I don’t mind as I prefer more subdued smells like amber. Got this as a gift for someone else as I am sensitive to smells but it really is comforting.

this is Coco Mademoiselle with a fruitier, juicier punch of pineapple. Boozy juicy creamy Coco Mademoiselle. i had so much hopes for this but it smells too common in where i live, people rock CCM everywhere i go. So sad. =(

Super fizzy pineapple to start off with, dries down smelling like it could be Chanel. A very nice scent overall and isn't too sweet. Notes I smell most: Patchouli and benzoin with a hint of citrus and fruit.

This is so so so sweet that I don't think I can personally wear it, but it's beautiful and delicious. The pineapple is gorgeous here.

that was a blind buy that i regret since it smells exactly like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle which i already own.

Patchouli, Cardamom, Vanilla, Jasmine, Tuberose and Coconut, this blend dominated on my skin and revealed itself in that order. The fruits kept the drama at bay, but stayed in the background. Well blended, elegant, dramatic, slightly milky, powdery. An evening/night scent (on me). Definitely will be wearing this to an elegant dinner with family or work colleagues. I would've loved to have smelled the Ylang Ylang come through but I didn't get the slightest whiff of it. Interesting, a few hours later and the vanilla, peach, tuberose and benzoin become more prominent. Still well blended but it definitely transforms and sweetens a little. Nothing headache inducing; still elegant.

Not sure about this one. I liked the fresh pineapple opening so much I was ready to buy a travel size bottle. Fortunately for my bank account it was out of stock this day at the store. The thing is the tropical and summery smell disappears quickly on me. What's left if some sort of abstract white flowers mixed with coconut and I smelled that before. Not the best coconut smell I experienced as well. Not really a tropical scent either. It reminds me CSP Coconut but mixed with a bunch of other things and that feels out of context. Not a bad perfume though but Memo Paris prices are so high it does not worth IMO.

If you looked at the notes and were exciting to try a juicy and fruity fragrance, then keep on moving. You will be highly disappointed. The opening is pure magic. You get the juicy pineapple, the peach, coconut, ylang ylang. Stunning. Then it starts to dry down and it becomes a non-descript perfumy aldehidic mess (think Chanel fragrances). As you know, you don't wear the opening, you wear the dry down. Such a shame. No thanks to smelling like a grandmother in Florida playing bingo.

Tart fruity top notes roll back very quickly, revealing a pleasant, rather old-fashioned jasmine and tuberose heavy oriental floral - flowery sweet, not candy sweet. Peach and coconut dry down goes a bit woody, but still very much femme leaning. Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna gives similar effect and performance, with modern updates, for far fewer coins. I'm glad to have tried it, but I won't wear it.
