Mercedes Benz Man Blue

Follow up to my review from July of 2021. I didn't use this fragrance for a whole year, it was pretty much in the very back of my hallway closet just chillin in the dark for a whole year. Whenever I first sprayed this on my skin or clothes I kept getting this vinegar-like note that kept throwing me off. It was so bad to my nose that I didn't even want to use it as a gym fragrance. One year later I was looking through my collection then remembered about that vinegar note from this fragrance, so I grabbed it to spray my hand to see if I should gift it or throw it away. I sprayed my hand and was surprised by how good it actually smelled. The vinegar note was no longer there and it was officially a decent Suavage clone to my nose. It's officially now on my gym fragrance line-up. I thought fragrance maceration was a joke but I was impressed by the fact that it in fact does work. If there's a fragrance you don't like; let it sit somewhere dark for a over a year. You wont be disappointed. I will even change my 'like' to a 'love'.

All I got to say even though I own Carbon and Sauvage; this is...meh...good but meh. If you're on a budget and want a Sauvage smell-alike, buy this at any discounter for cheap. To me, this has a very vinegar, balsamic smell compared to the other two I just mentioned. It's a cheapy but I don't see myself spraying this one just because of that strange little smell I personally get. Scent: 6 oofs - that little vinegar undertone smell really Sillage: 5 oofs - doesn't really go past the 2 feet after an hour or so Performance: 5 oofs - Not too bad for the price Versatility: 10 oofs - all-season Verdict: meh. It's a safe 'meh' blind buy if you can find it below $30.

@msajoy I think that you’re reviewing Mercedes man! That one smells like Firce! This one smells really close to Sauvage! I own both and I’m 100% sure!

Same spicy-clean shower gel metallic ambroxan smells just like Savauge and it's many copies. Not the same quality as Dior Savauge EdT but a decent less obnoxious clone of it. Smells exactly like Police Deep Blue (which is a cheaper clone of Savauge EdT) but has better performance. Projection/Sillage': DECENT, aromatic, 5 ft scent bubble with trail for the 1st 2 hours or so then becomes an in-close scent thereafter Performance/Longevity: GOOD, 6-8 hours (on fabric)

I do love this scent, not sure I get the hate. It does have a bit of a overly sweet citrus, lavender, shower gel thing going on. There is some spice hidden in there. But it does dry down to an nice ambery note. Decent fresh spring or summer scent. And dirt cheap now that it has been discontinued.

I don't agree with the Sauvage comparison. I do however enjoy the scent even though it's not going to blow any minds. It's basically a blue freshie with a slight lack of personality but certainly a safe, serviceable and enjoyable daily driver for work or a weekend.

This is a fresh spicy musk fragrance. Very aromatic because of the note of lavander. But you will get a dry musk sensation with a shower gel vibe that came by the pepper and bergamot. All in all its Sauvage but with a lot of musk...

A brighter and lighter version of Sauvage. I like it and the price is a third of Sauvage. Of course it doesn’t last as long but still a good buy. It also reminds me a little bit of Kenzo Sport and Sport extreme, the drydown.

Probably an inoffensive office fragrance. IS meh in my book. It seems that MB fragrances suck at performance. There are better out there.

Smells similar to Dior Savage, Savage clone, classy and its a compliment getter

So i just got this, 100ml for around 29 EUROS I do get the sauvage vibe with the pepper and amborxany smell. but tbh it smells sharp, really really sharp in a syntethic way. its very linear troughout its life. i wish there were more reviews for this.. Is it worth the price? yes sure. but for that price i just wouldve got legend spirit or davidoff coolwater intense. test it before you buy. or just save up and get sauvage it smells better all around Performance is a lil above average and sillage is fine.. this just smells meh, and it aint that much of a crowd pleaser

Boring list of notes here, no interest at all from me and all this from the great Michel Almairac! Shame. And another "blue" fragrance for men.. yawn.

Another Sauvage copy. Who cares?

This isn't anything like Sauvage. As is the issue on here, people aren't paying attention to details. Most reviews below are inaccurate but that's probably due to the fact that Mercedes did a poor job of marketing - causing confusion. Mercedes Man - is what's being described below, not blue. Mercedes Man - Blue is much different with a citrus opening and dry down that's almost identical to Mont Blanc Starwalker/ Versace Man Eau Fraiche. I have a Mercedes sample kit right in front of me. The bottles look nearly the same except blue has a red line on it. Poor differentiation on Mercedes here but that seems to be with the whole line as its hard to distinguish which fragrance is which if you're new. Regardless, this is a great freshy. Not sure how long it lasts as I'm testing it now. Projection seems to be moderate at best, with a great scent. Longevity - will find out later.

This is close enough to Sauvage that for the average guy/person it doesn't much matter... I found a 50ml at a rack store for $25 - Will I wear it much? Eh, probably not... Might end up giving it to my brother. For the price, it's a nice sub for something akin to Sauvage, as I said, your average person won't be able to tell too much of a difference and it smells nice. Performs well and is of course a mass appealing Blue fragrance. My only hang-up... For $10-$12 more dollars, you could get a bottle of Prada LRC. Which is a better fragrance overall. But hey... If you come across it for that $25-$30 price and want something similar to a Sauvage - You could do much worse then this. Also - I agree that this is also similar to MB Legend. It's almost a mix of Legend and Sauvage... For a similar price... You could also go with a bottle of MB Legend.

On initial smell, it's nice. It really is a typical "blue" fragrance with the citrus, tonka and ambroxan in there. To me it's more like the opening of Versace Dylan Blue than Dior Sauvage. On its own, it's fine as a cheap blue fragrance that smells like all the others which get the fame. It's not as good as those, but worth it for $25 or less. I bought a used 50ml for $14 with no regrets. Someone below suggested buying Prada LR Carbon for a little more $$ instead of this, and I would agree. The bottle is nice and I'd recommend this one for a fan of the Mercedes brand that wants a nice spring/summer dumb reach. UPDATED...when Prada Luna Rossa used to be a cheapie. Not anymore.

Agreed, this could easily be called Sauvage Carbon with a hint of Dylan Blue in the opening. And if you get it under $30, a wise choice if you’re ultimately not interested in the aforementioned and would be content with an easy reach frag. Definitely cleaner and more wearable than Sauvage. The one thing, though, after reading a previous comment, I cannot unsmell that vinegar note now. I’m getting the image of eating a radish concoction by the beach. It’s there in the middle and gone after 2 hours.

This one is fantastic! It's very calming, pleasing, and a great blind buy. It opens with a soft and sweet lavender and a bright bergamot that transitions to a slightly peppery vibe like Prada Luna Rossa Carbon. It smells a bit sweeter than Carbon, and not exactly like Dior Sauvage. It smells like a wonderful combination of Sauvage, Luna Rossa Carbon, and Versace Dylan Blue. Sweet, musky, blue goodness. I definitely recommend it, and personally like it more than Carbon.

Why what? This is a scent made by a perfumist, this is his profession (and he is damm good at it). Have you used it? If it is not that good, we all have our off days and what is awful to you may be wonderful to others.
