Mercedes-Benz Silver

I'm not a massive fan of 'celebrity' or 'market brand' fragrances, and only bought into the Mercedes Benz line as 1) they are composed by some amazing perfumers and 2) because I got them cheap at TK Maxx! I purchased cologne (2 x 30ml) and Silver as well as 2 x Infinite Spicy and intense. I love them all! Silver is a clean, crisp and tart rhubarb with other indefinable citruses in the opening, extremely bright and uplifting and not at all like cleaning product, as has been mentioned. On the dry down it keeps its citrusy character but combines this with a deeper musky quality. What's worth noting is the longevity, which is actually very good for a fresh citrus scent. I briefly left the room I am currently working in a few moments ago and when I returned it was filled with the scent! It just shows how occasional nose-blindness can mislead you into believing well performing fragrances are weak. I bought the above fragrances about a year ago and am loving rediscovering them again now the weather is finally getting warm! I highly recommend any or all of the fragrances I have mentioned although some can now be expensive or difficult to find.

This is a hidden gem i am so thankful that this flew under the radar keeps my signature scent (as of now) unique!! If you are from india this smell is exactly what the khus chaddar (vetiver curtain) that is sprinkled with water in the summers in the haveli (hindu temple) with a hint of rhubarb. I don't know how but i used to love that smell as a kid and now it has been put into a bottle and this garners a lot of compliments! As it progresses it has a spicy ambroxan-y vibe. Olivier cresp has blended this beautifully. Masterpiece for sure got a 120ml size for about 30$ equivalent. Performance is 5-6 hrs which is decent for citrus based fragrances Projection is soft about 1-2 ft for 1 hr and then sits close to the skin. For the Indian weathers it's perfect, can wear this all year round Overall rating : 4/5

Boom, goes the citrus and it is very natural and good. I like rhubarb and I love pepper and Vetiver, this is a man’s Cologne for sure. Not real sweet but ends up musky, ambroxan dry down. The ambroxan gives it strength and longevity so for me this checks a lot of my boxes. Because of the ambroxan this makes it an all around universal scent, anytime anywhere. It is not over the top cloying and can be worn in the office, church, or on a date. But this is a classy scent so not a beach or sport scent, works fine as business casual or a suit and even a tuxedo. Blind buy, yes if you are 30+ under 30 try before you buy. Oh, and the bottle is really quality too, looks awesome and weighs 1lb+ easily. Buy it you’ll love it, and so will your wife / girl.

Super great stuff. I wear it to work and love it. Kinda reminds me of Dior homme cologne or a brighter Terre d Hermes like others have said. I get good projection. And last about 4-6 hours depending on how sweaty I am that day.. I even bought a little refillable sprayer to bring with me so I can respray on my lunch. This would make an ideal signature scent. It’s cheap enough to use often, smells wonderful, very pleasant to anyone that may smell you, and is for now readily accessible so you don’t have to baby your bottle. I may try some others from Mercedes in future. This was a great firsty from this lineup. 8.5/10.

This is a beautiful bright fresh citrusy aromatic and metallic fragrance along the lines of Montblanc Starwalker, but classier and with much better performance. I easily get 6 or more hours out of it with a few modest sprays. I reckon it's highly suitable for business and office use, and is also versatile enough for casual use and dating. I'm highly impressed with all the Mercedes Benz fragrances I've tried so far (Cologne, Intense, Le Parfum, and this) as unlike some car manufacturers, they seem to take the quality and appeal of their fragrances very seriously. Bravo, and absolutely recommended!

A truly underrated perfume IMO. It starts off with this rhubarb and light fruity accord which gives a very unique vibe to the scent, and then dries down to an earthy vetiver smell. Very fresh and unique, and I have to say it does NOT smell like Terre D'Hermes. It's also my wife's favorite fragrance from my collection.. go figure. All in all, despite its lack of performance (longevity & projection) it is a very good cheapie for spring and summer.

I tried this one, surprisingly i am in love with the smell. The more i got interested when i found out that it gets better when sprayed on clothes. Not offensive. I am gonna buy one of these days. edit: Finally, i bought it, luckily the store had their 25% discount promotion. What a beautiful day. Smells a bit of an expensive-Roja Elysium with same notes of Vetiver and grapefruit.

Gorgeous scent. Well blended citrus and vetiver. I love the opening. I wish the performance were better. The first 30 minutes it projects well and scent is strong. Unfortunately after the 1st hr it turns to a relative skin Scent. After 3 hrs you cant hardly detect (on my skin and spraying clothes didnt seem to help). Love it though so I will just reapply every 3 hrs.

This indeed is in the same ballpark as Roja Elysium. But it is not a clone. It does its own thing. A very lovely fragrance. However, the performance is where this one does not shine. After an hour it is barely noticable. Which is quite a pity, as it smells amazing.

didnt even know this existed...i own the original, intense, le parfum, cologne and sport..this i have to get ...please dont release any more...cant buy so many lol

I reviewed this back in 2023, and with hindsight and further wear, I have to admit I was too harsh on it. First of all, the longevity/performance is still absolutely pathetic. And that is honestly a massive letdown, as the more I've sat with this fragrance over the past three years, the more I've come to like it and "understand" it for what it is (and what it isn't). Someone below compared this to a summer golf game, and yes, I completely get that. It does evoke the sensory feeling of a grassy green golf course, but specifically somewhere in Southeast Asia. I say SEA because of the vetiver used here, which, as @sillageshubham mentioned, really does remind me of a more distinct “Asian” style of vetiver accord I’ve only really smelled while living in this part of the world. The dry down specifically strongly reminds me of being out on a golf course in Bangkok, Bali, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, etc. There's a certain combination of smells I catch sometimes while I play golf here. That slightly earthy/metallic petrichor or ozonic smell right before or after a sudden Southeast Asian downpour, mixed with a faint chlorinated pool smell, harsh equatorial sun, lush tropical landscaping, and freshly cut vetiver grass just off the fairways. This fragrance captures that exact combination of smells I’ve become so accustomed to as an expat in Asia. Almost to the point where it feels like Cresp took direct influence from it. It’s honestly uncanny. I now own a lot more vetiver fragrances than when I first reviewed this in 2023, and this particular fragrance smells nothing like any of them. The closest one listed above is Olfactive Studio Flash Back, also by Olivier Cresp, which uses a very similar DNA but takes a different direction with the apple note. Doesn’t dry down as dry and parched as this does either. Man, there’s just something really nostalgic about this one. It smells like a fragrance of its time: 2017, pre-covid, pre-AI slop, when the world felt a bit more technicolor. Grassy, chlorinated, metallic, earthy petrichor, pre-thunderstorm ozone, green, and actually quite a "euphoric" smell, like you're lifting a silver trophy after winning a golf tournament. Silver smells nothing like Versace Man Eau Fraiche (also by Cresp), but it gives me the same happy feeling I get from my vintage bottle of it. He really does have a talent for taking cheaper, synthetic aroma chemicals and somehow creating something special with them. The negatives are obvious: the longevity is abysmal. You need to overspray this like you’re applying antiperspirant, and even then, you get maybe three hours max, mostly as a skin scent. The ambroxan is still very much there and could have been dialed down a touch. It also isn’t the most natural-smelling fragrance in the world; it definitely has that cheapie aroma-chemical vibe. But once it reaches the dry down, it harmonizes more and somehow ends up suiting the type of fragrance that it is. I can’t believe I’m saying this about something that originally cost me $20 USD, but I’m going to search for another bottle. That said, I admit it is not worth the ridiculous discontinued prices it’s going for now. Do not blind buy this at inflated discontinued grey market prices unless you have a strange personal connection to it, as I do. You will 100% absolutely feel like you overpaid if you do. Smells like: Going for a swim at your apartment building pool, then playing a round at Pondok Indah Golf Course/Royale Jakarta/Damai Indah PIK/Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (you get the idea haha), with that distinct metallic, earthy, ozonic petrichor scent hanging in the air before the afternoon thunderstorm hits, mixed with the smell of sun-scorched, freshly cut vetiver grass. It’s literally that combination rolled into one. Sometimes you form peculiar attachments to throwaway cheapies you initially disregarded. Over time, you realize there’s something more to them than you first thought. This is one of those for me. Edit: I own both Terre d’Hermes and Bois de Vetiver, and I still find the comparisons between them utterly mind-boggling. Silver smells absolutely nothing like either of them. The only thing they each have in common is a vetiver note, that's it. If anything, Silver leans more in the direction of a TF Grey Vetiver type of DNA, but even that comparison is still a massive stretch. As I said, the only fragrance that comes close to smelling like Silver is Olfactive Studio Flash Back. 7.25/10

First of all, I need to get this out of the way. The reviewers below saying this smells similar to Terre d'Hermes seriously need to get their noses fixed. Same with the above "reminds me of" comparison to Bois de Vetiver. I own all three, and none of them smell ANYTHING like each other; they are each drastically different fragrances. Literally, the only thing they have in common is that they each share a vetiver note. That's it... Onto Mercedes Benz Silver. Tbh I was a bit hyped up buying this as I thought I was about to discover another under-the-radar cheapie. Especially going off the reviews below. A STRONG blast of alcohol in the opening. Like I'm talking this straight-up smelled like vodka mixed with water on the first spray, to the point where I thought I had a fake. No discernible actual fragrance smell at all. Okay, maybe this particular bottle I bought has been sitting still for a couple of years? Got some dummy sprays out of the atomizer, got that air into it, and then I let it sit in the cupboard for a couple of weeks. Sprayed again. Composition: "Strongest" note is definitely the vetiver, there's a veryyyyy slight fruitiness from the grapefruit (can also detect the bitter orange but it is extremely faint and pulled back behind the grapefruit), some spice from the pepper, the rhubarb comes through in the mid giving it a "dry" presence with the vetiver, and a hint of musk comes in later in the drydown. I don't really get a lot of the grapefruit at all, and after 10 to 15 minutes, it has disappeared. Although I'm not a huge fan of grapefruit playing a star role in fragrances (compared to other citruses), I actually feel it could have benefited with more of it as the result is that, overall, this is a very "dry" fragrance. This may be too dry and stifling for some who are used to blue, citrus, and aquatic freshies, just a warning. I don't love it, I don't really like it, but I don't hate it. It smells "okay". Fairly sterile smelling, though. This is VERY linear. You know how upmarket hotels have those "for hotel" fragrances that they diffuse throughout? I can imagine Mercedes Benz Silver is what the head office of MB would smell like, what they would diffuse through the air-con system if they did something like that. I don't mean that in a good way though... I'm glad I bought a super-discounted tester bottle for $20 instead of the retail price. Nobody should be paying more than $35 at a max for this... If I had to sum this fragrance up in three words, they would be linear, dry, faint. This will be a gym frag for me. Edit: This is still a "meh" type of fragrance for me. I thought if I gave it time the scent profile would improve but it's so just damn lifeless, I have no idea what the reviewers below me are on about. I absolutely love vetiver in fragrances, but this frag really needed the grapefruit and bitter orange turned up more because it literally just smells like vetiver, pepper, and a tiny hint of rhubarb from first spray to dry down. It's so linear and suffocatingly dry. I don't hate this or anything. I sometimes throw it on to wear to the gym and I wear it around my apartment building but all in all, this is a very "flat" fragrance to my nose and very forgettable. Different tastes, I guess.

Cresp should be praised for this creation. I have only tried this once, but I can’t say I got rhubarb straight away, and I’m a rhubarb fanatic both making my own rhubarb accords and vetiver rhubarb compositions (like this is meant to be) I’m pretty obsessed to be fair. But I do really like this fragrance, so it probably makes sense that it’s in there. I can see how this has the bitter and tart energy in the opening but I wouldn’t say it’s overly fruity, it’s a very, very green opening which I got from it and that’s what is missing from the mainstream in my opinion, unabashed green perfumes for men. It smells a little like the greener tones of Dior Fahrenheit and really good citrus notes from good bergamot oils and herbs. It’s complex, wonderful, I had a feeling it might’ve turned a little violety, or something because it does have an aloof, floral quality. The drydown though to me is herbaceous, with a lasting citrus freshness and some earthy, mossy tones. It’s kinda a Chypre sort of, but it’s so herbal I’d say it’s an ‘aromatic’ maybe an aromatic chypre, I suppose what to call it matters not, but it’s distinctly a men’s designer release, so there’s enough of the usual, fixative agents to make it broadly familiar to some, look at the details though and it’s a fine perfume. I will be trawling TK MAXX and the like for a reduced bottle at some point. So decent! Mercedes Benz hey??? Who knew??? I’ve not tried any of these yet.

A good fresh fragrance. Perfect for warmer weather. Smells good after a workout and a shower. It will certainly give you a fresh citrus blast on its opening notes. The main dry down is a clean cool earthy smell. I get about 4 hours out of this fragrance on my skin and it’s a safe one to overspray if you want. It does project moderately for a couple of hours before becoming a skin scent. I think this smells better on skin than clothes, as on clothes it stays as a citrus scent whereas on skin the nice vetiver and musky notes develop more. I wouldn’t wear this on a date and I feel this would work best on younger guys looking for a no fuss but classy summer fragrance. This is quite a youthful and masculine scent to my nose. The bottle offers a big chunky glass presentation with an average sprayer. I suggest to wait for this to be discounted before buying it, as the full price is a bit high for this fragrance. Overall it does smell very good, but I don’t think this one will get you noticed or impress too many people around you. If you want a fragrance that’s better than soap or basic body sprays, this is a good one to consider.

This was a blind buy for me and I had no expectations at all. Generally it's a fresh light enjoyable fragrance perfect for casual wear. For me this is a spring/summer scent as it's mainly citrus freshness that I get from it on my skin. The opening smells more like fresh lemons or lemongrass to me, although it's not mentioned anywhere. The middle is mild pepper and vetiver as well as the overwhelming citrusy notes. Longetivity is moderate (4 to 5 hours) and sillage is heavy through the first hour and a half, after that it stays moderate or even soft until it fades. I would give an overall score of 7/10 for this fragrance. The performance could be better, thats the only drawback but considering the low price for 120ml bottle it's not that big of a problem.

This opens up bright and fruity but for me the Vetiver kicks in not long after and remains the dominant note throughout, it’s got a clean earth smell which gives it a fresh feeling. Longevity is alright so far and projection isn’t beast mode but is good for a fresh fragrance (will need to try this in nicer weather to see how it performs). This reminds me of a lighter, fresher version Encre Noir by Lalique, which is likely the earthy Vetiver in the mid and base. Picked up a 120ml bottle for £35 which is fantastic value. Presentation is great also, really like the look and feel of the bottle.
