White Luminous Gold

Update: A co-worker exclaimed as to how much they liked this fragrance. This is someone who does not readily remark on any fragrances I wear.I was contemplating giving away recently but decided not to based on the fact that it maybe deserved another look from me and be given another chance to experience another side of this one. It was initially just ok and was a safe blind reach for winter months. Hmmm, just three notes. They deserve 3 letters: W _ O _ W! ! ! I first wore this in the summer and it was ok in small doses. I put it away because this past summer was often hot as a blasted heath and this scent ramped up so much it was overwhelming. Mixed with heat and sweat seems to turn this beauty into a sour or pungent flower that wilts from the heat, turning into something I'd rather not be caught wearing around decent company. I feel I smell faintly unwashed somehow, even though that wouldn't be the case, and find myself desperately wishing to exit stage left, stage right or just beating a discreet but hasty retreat away from people. Now that it is winter time and the temps are much cooler I revisited my silver mini monument and there is a marked difference. I think this fragrance and I get along better in cooler times; I am enjoying WLG so much that I have reapplied to experience the delight of the top and middle notes again in the space of an hour or so. It is such a treat! Yes, as some have mentioned, it does seem a tad bit metallic, but that just adds to the beauty. I would not go so far as to call it a clinical, harsh metal, but more a metal that has been slowly warmed that you can feel comfortable with it against your skin, and the added benefit? I SMELLS LIKE AWESOMENESS AND UNICORN SNOT! (yes, I do, and you can too!)

The notes do not describe this scent accurately. I get vanilla, amber, and powdery iris, like a cross between powdered sugar and baby powder and Revlon's Fire and Ice. The pear note makes it vaguely metallic because pears have a faint metallic smell and taste to me (which I like). Really it is shocking to see such antipathy for this scent here. It's a gorgeous woody metallic amber vanilla powdery scent. Yes, it has a lot going on, but it's all beautiful. One word of warning - it's not weak or demure. Great on cold days or days when you can cocoon and take the time to appreciate such a complex scent. Overall it smells a lot like a basket of worn but not smelly laundry in which each piece has been sprayed with a different perfume. But in a good way!

i think this is one of the better scents in the gold line.......the amber is a standout & the jasmine is just plain beautiful in the mix :) i find this perfume to be very intoxicating :) rich, lux, warm & cozy.......its an amber lovers dream :) and it definitely has staying power & it is a bit strong so sensitive noses this may be too much for u lol - but its strong in a beautiful way :) i think just having 3 ingredients is the magic here - it gives the scent a chance to highlight its players & this scent does that well :) ps - love the chunky chic urban cool bottles too :)

I simply love this one. I get something 'green' (bergamot?) that I don't know where it comes from by looking at the notes. Then, it develops into a powdery jasmine with a green undertone. I think the powdery note comes from musk, but isn't listed and the amber in here is the same as MK's Sexy Amber- sweet vanilla almost milky. The longevity is about 6 hours on skin but it goes further on clothes. It's totally unisex.

At first it reminded me of Miyake 's "A scentt by Issey Miyake".It was as fresh!But af ter a half of an hour it became warmer and more powdery!It is elegant, it is classy, it is something unusual!Lovely fragrance safe for office too!!More suitable for spring!It makes you feel cheerful! At the end it is as powdery as Dahlia Noir!!

I keep checking back here to see if any more reviews pop up because I’m kinda obsessed with White Luminous Gold (?!!?!). It’s much more interesting than whatever notes are listed. Love the previous comments on this scent tho! Very satisfying when a cheap blind buy WAAAAY surpasses your expectations. 🥳

This is much more complex than the three notes listed. Spicy. I smell cinnamon and maybe licorice. A freshness with a warmth and depth, slight woods and a little salty in the middle with ambergris coming through. Very pretty and unique.

I think, it sounds pretty masculine, but wears perfectly on a woman. I love it. It is a daylight out shopping for something you just want for no particular reason. Lovely idea of a scent.

I’m back again- reading other reviews on this magical, underrated scent. It’s the best Michael Kors perfume of them all.

I tried this without knowing anything about it, and it wasn't at all what I expected from Michael Kors - in a good way :) I absolutely did not get a pear top note. The first impression was of a light, dry, rather androgynous chypre. It reminded me of Givenchy III or the original Miss Dior. In a couple of minutes, it began to soften. More on this below. I tried this in a branch of The Perfume Shop. For readers outside the UK, this is a high street chain that sells only perfume, no other cosmetics, and some of the staff are very knowledgeable. I asked one of the staff to tell me about the perfume, and she found that the 3 new Michael Kors perfumes were too new to be on their database, so she looked it up on - guess where? Fragrantica! Another member of staff joined us and the 3 of us stood sniffing the perfume on paper strips and comparing impressions. As it softened, the floral notes came through more and more. However, one of the Perfume Shop staff detected rose, which is not listed as an ingredient, and as soon as she said it I got it too. Her colleague was racking his brains to work out what it reminded him of and realised it was Shalimar, and I see that lesecretforme also picked up on this resemblance, although I didn't get it myself. So for me and the 2 very helpful Perfume Shop people, this perfume went through quite an astonishing transformation from astringent masculine to soft feminine. I splashed out on the smallest size EDP as I thought it would be a good daytime perfume for work: softly floral and with the warmth of the amber coming through too. This isn't going to be one of the timeless greats, but if it isn't damning it with faint praise, it is better than I expected: more complex, more interesting and a nicely crafted although not earth-shatteringly beautiful scent. Thanks to the 2 Perfume Shop people who shared the testing experience with me. I don't often get to discuss perfume IRL.

Wow, this is one of the most metallic openings I've ever encountered, barring Rive Gauche! Once the top notes burn off, only a touch of strident metal remains and the soft, white, fluffy goodness of White Luminous Gold comes into it's own. The non-edible pear adds a gentle, friendly sweetness, but overall this fragrance is about white. White florals, white powder, white musk, white PILLOWY beauty. I know it's not listed, but I can't help smelling IRIS too.... Lovely, lovely white iris on a bed of amber with perhaps a hint of sandalwood? Moderately good sillage and longevity, which is impressive for recent designer perfume releases. Base notes are powdery sweetness and vanilla. So pretty. Not the most complex of fragrances, but very likable - and such a nice break from Kors' typical gardenia tuberose theme. Highly recommended for those who enjoy baby powder and white musk based fragrances. Thumbs up!

My husband loves this scent. To me, it smells like White Diamonds, which is very old lady to me. Funny, because all the scents I like he says are old lady lol. I usually feel he likes fruity and sugary juvenile scents but for some reason he loves this sharp, metallic scent. HOWEVER, I will say, it develops into a soft and pretty powder, fluffy goodness on my skin which I love. But it fades way too fast (1 hour). I only wear it or him and cannot wait for the initial notes to go away when I do (30 min or so).

A great Amber-scent. Sweet, warm and with a hint of juicy Pear. I don't like powerfull Amber-scents but this one is calm, a bit skinclose and really nice. If I spray it on my shirt it will smell good for 2-3 days. A true come-and-hug-me-scent. En suverän Amber-doft. Söt, varm och med en aning söt Päron. Jag gillar inte kraftiga Amber-dofter men denna är mjuk, lugn, nästan lite hudnära och ljuvlig. Om jag sprejar på tröjan så doftar den gott i 2-3 dagar. En kom-och-krama-mig-doft.

The top note is a lot like liquorice root. a dusty kind of sweet. After that, a smooth creamy floral develops. Not anything remarkable, but nice all the same. But this scent is short-lived. After two hours, most of it is gone.

If you are seeking for a fruity amber, this one is for you. This is the second perfume by Michael Kors I am inpressed with today. Sillage is great and the scent smells sophisticated. Lovely!

This is a nice fragrance. Nothing about this is bad. It smells like tangy/tart Shalimar and chanel allure. Wish it lasts longer though.

In terms of the DNA, this definitely reminds me of Comme des Garcons 2. Of course we can't even compare the longevity and sillage; CDG is obviously the winner by far, but the cold (not fresh but cold), slightly spicy air of CDG is really similar to this one. And, I think it's 85% unisex. When I first sprayed it, it was more unisex but after it settled down and I started to smell jasmin and pear, (pear is really hard to feel) it became a slightly more feminine fragrance. If you ask me, it's definitely still unisex. If you like this one go and grab the sillage monster Comme des Garcons 2. (Btw, this doesn't smell as metallic as the other one. A cold, but nice amber scent.)

This fragrance is odd...it has two distinct sides. In the opening I smell amber, but not in a good way. It's like an overpowering men's cologne, very sharp, harsh, and chemical based. The dry-down doesn't take very long. It completely transforms to a different fragrance. While I'm not particularly fond of it even at that point, it's much more tolerable. It becomes very powdery. The pear never makes an appearance for me. As weird as it sounds, I'm picking up a hint of something like Bengay (topical cream for muscle pain.) Nothing in the notes would explain that, so it's pretty confusing. I can't help but think of a no-nonsense elderly woman when I smell this. Lol

One tiny spray on my wrist produced an Interesting spiced pear top note that enchanted me for all of 5 seconds when suddenly I noticed a chemical undercurrent I could taste in my mouth! Yuck! So I waited it out while downing several glasses of milk to get rid of the terrible chemical taste. The dry down became a lovely soft, warm ambery skin scent with jasmine in the background. Though pretty at the end its hardly worth waiting thru the nasty top note chemicals to get to the amber.

My first impression was a resemblance to vintage. That, for me, was its best moment. I almost bought it on the spot. So glad I didn't because an hour or so later it had changed remarkably into something I wasn't as fond of. Full disclosure- two of my least favorite notes are Amber and Pear. Many people love those. I'm in the minority. Just be careful to give it some time before you buy because it metamorphoses tremendously on the skin.

This is a baffling perfume to me... After a sharp opening of chemicals instead of pear...it heads straight into floral baby powder...followed by warm baby powder. What the heck is warm baby powder? And why do I get nothing but powder when this is not even supposed to be powdery!? Beats me...but it happened every single time :( Wearable but boring as..... L: Moderate S: Moderate/Soft

What a mess! At first it smells like one million notes, sultry and overbearing. Hard to believe it's only a pear. Later it's getting a bit better. However, base amber notes are overwhelming again. All in all, big no. What a shame. I love this bottle!

My nose gets a shrieking jasmine and amber fragrance with an overwhelming, shoe-polishy pear note throughout. Not for the faint of heart! This is a heavy-duty fragrance for those who love flashy, vigorous florals... and lots and lots of pear.

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. One of the worst fragrances I've ever encountered, it's the definition of an "elderly" perfume. There isn't anything young about this perfume. Sharp, metallic, elderly is all i get from this scent. So unpleasant.

Starts with a strong cleaning/ furniture polish note, then smooths into flowers with a just cleaned car smell. I don't get amber. Not for me

White Luminous Gold by Michael Kors doesn't receive many favourable reviews. I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to test this fragrance when last perusing the fragrance section at my local Sephora. I'll start by saying that it's not nearly as bad as I expected it to be. White Luminous Gold is very wearable in my opinion; a delicate, musky blend of sweet amber, white flowers and icy pear. The house of Michael Kors is quite well-known for their white floral compositions, and in many ways, their white florals share many similarities. White Luminous Gold, however, is more musky and sweet, which may come as a surprise for some Michael Kors fans. This fragrance has been heavily reduced in recent years and cheap rollerballs are even easier to source. If you're looking to blind purchase this fragrance, I would not be put off by the negative reviews whatsoever. One man's trash is another man's treasure. The longevity of White Luminous Gold is rather impressive, lasting approximately five to six hours on my skin. The projection is on the other hand relatively soft and wears close to the skin. This somewhat linear blend is quite versatile, and you could easily wear White Luminous Gold all year round. I most enjoy it however during the Autumn months.

I thought this was a safe blind buy. Wrong. MKLG played out really, really weird on my skin. It was super masculine on me (even though none of the listed notes hint that it would be) And btw, being "too masculine" for ME speaks volumes because I have a few bottles of cologne marketed toward men that I wear proudly. So anyway, super masculine but I decided t to stick it out thinking to myself, "Well, sometimes the more masculine scents have the best longevity and silage! Maybe I'll find the "silver lining" in this luminous gold." Wrong again. Skin scent within 15 minutes and a weird metallicy smell lingered close to the skin. Needless to say, it wasn't for me. In fact, I returned it. And I NEVER return fragrances. Even if I don't care for them initially, I usually save them for a second chance at a different time or season and if I still don't care for them I put them up for sale or swap... Not this one. I wouldn't feel comfortable trading a fragrance in such a high price bracket with such awful performance. This fragrance is better suited to a10$ clearance tag, not a 39$ clearance tag that I paid. This was my experience only. I'm sure it's lovely on some of you.

First time wearing this one and a big fan of michael kors. This one is an insult to his genius. Its just ok. I feel like I could.design a better one. I'm middle aged and this one feels like my aunt's or mothers perfume. It has that spiciness underneath a pear and a bit of diaper smell .....it is really soft though and not altogether horrid. It does smell expensive by way of ingredients......It's just not fun or interesting or sexy. This smells really boring, organized reliable.....kinda like a mean librarian would smell or a strict controlling mature Secretary. .....I would never buy this again....I may never wear it again. .....I wish michael lots would.throw away the amber. I want to see him do another blockbuster scent. He should do a really clean light socialite with layers......like a beautiful Lily or carnation or lilac or yellow rose.I gotta say some will love this scent and I respect all scents but I just don't like this one and am looking for a good way to wash it all off before I go out tonight. It's sort of ......not good.

This seems more complex than the 3 notes listed. There's a moreish quality that hints toward sweetness without actually being sweet. The layering of cool on top of warm creates mystery. I sense some citrus at the top. The base is lovely. It's an interpretation of what I have been wanting musk to be - for some time my nose has been interpreting musk as dusty and suffocating. This has used an amber in a way that provides an entirely comfortable base with some of the more pleasant attributes of musk. It's a goldilocks base for me -just right. Entirely satisfying.

I love the base note and it lasts longer than i expected. I seldom spritz perfume on my skin but i do on my shurt instead. This MK perfume lasts very long, more than 14 hrs. the very first moment i sprayed it, the scent seems very manly and and i thought it is for Man. (It was a blind buy when i purchased it). Only for a short moment, the musky scent resurface and stayed on. The base note i would say smell like hugo boss nuit or near to the body shop black musk. I love this perfume.

White Luminous Gold is the perfect name for this fragrance. It's a bright, clean fragrance that has a glowing, pulsating warmth and depth to it. It's not overly floral, nor fruity. Each layer blends fabulously with the next. The amber base is powdery on me, which I love. The longevity is better than moderate and longer lasting on clothing. It smells expensive. This composition just exudes vivacious warmth and confidence.

This smells almost exactly like Calvin Klein Obsession! Even though this one doesn’t have the spicy cinnamon note that Obsession has, it still smells like 95% similar to Obsession. It’s an old-school deep & resinous amber, similar to Obsession. Really really strong too. Not for the faint of heart but people who enjoy mature scents or scents similar to Obsession will love this.

this is absolutely ambery base fragrance. beautiful amber note and very good combination with jasmine and pear. very good longevity and sillage. this fragrance is for mature person. really warm, sexy, mature. this fragrance is closer to Miss Dior Le Parfum and Valentina Absoluto in dry down.

When i saw the name, I thought it would be a lovely floral scent. I was wrong! I hate the scent soo much! It smells so spicy! I cannot put it on because I feel like when i out it on i smell like I haven't showered for days! It smells like sweat to me. Gross.

I feel like there's more than jasmine pear and Amber to this? Because when I first sprayed it it was something that reminded me of tobacco or even ginger. (This is on a card btw) now I'm finally getting sweet pear but it started off much sharper.

I wish this perfume lasted longer on me - rather disappointing that it doesn't .

The drydown reminds me a little of shalimar edt. Woody ambery vanilla. I love!
