831 San Lucas

First impression: Just sprayed this and my first take is pleasantly surprised. Guess I thought it would be tropical from the marketing brief, but it's actually not very fruity. More of a masculine floral. It smells expensive, complex, and very well blended. I definitely get a new age luxury hotel vibe. If this has staying power, it's a top spring scent for me. Update later Update: So I found there to be a strange note to this in the mid and drydown. Hard to pin point. It was almost hay-like? I found it distracting and I started to wonder if I didn't like the fragrance too much. I shelved it and decided to wait until I saw my girlfriend. We sprayed it on my shirt and let it settle... and she loved it. She smelled it a few times wondering what it reminded her of, then her eureck moment: "it's like a fancy resort hotel in a tropical town. Mexico or the Caribbean. You should wear this to work in the summer." So there you have it, marketing brief was on point. I noticed on future wearings that that strange note may be how the iris and woods play with one another. The iris is peripheral, sitting along the edges of this fragrance. Not obvious like other iris colognes like L'Homme or Gentleman. Very interesting composition and one that I'll experiment with as the weather improves.

I don't understand how do people smell sweetness in this. This is nothing like Invictus/Hawas, both are Fresh/Sweet. Maybe the Apple but to me it's Fresh/Spicy/Floral scent. I've used it for a year now and yes, it's extremely similar to LNDLH Bleu Electrique. Very underrated and under the radar scent, amazing replacement for LNDL BE. Projects loud for first hour after that a skin scent for the next 5 hours. Tip: Spray this on clothes for longevity. Fyi: Smells heavenly, a must have in the collection if you don't care if it lasts and just love the smell: Something like Dior Homme Cologne. Scent: 10/10 Performance: 5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

Picked this out of a lineup of a handful of others a clerk helped me sample at a shop while traveling. I came in with a specific set of notes I was looking for and this fit the bill perfectly. The geranium in the middle may be that strong scent some find unpleasant. Geraniums come in many varieties but they commonly have a strong earthy, peppery scent. For me, it's a nostalgic scent that reminds me of my mother's garden.

Very good smell almost like a YSL y without the apple and iris added in. It's pretty weak but it's a nice smell

Its nice, has a rich twist to it, which adds maturity. I personally think its a great everyday fragrance, its fresh, smells expensive and mature, isn’t too strong but has good performance, theres very little punch to it in my opinion which isn’t something I like, but I still love it.

It's a scent I wear for yoga, meditation, relaxation. It reminds me of a salty spa type scent. I usually wear sweet or sultry floral, so this really is an aromatherapy scent for me.

This is the most masculine scent I wear. It smells very salty, it reminds me of a spa (which is why I wear it). It's very soothing and calming. I enjoy it!

Great classic man kinda scent . I wish that it had better longevity that's all.

Nice fresh gym scent or on warmer days !

This is an extremely nice chill masculine summer blue scent. It's very chill, very mass appealing. Somewhat aquatic. I detect the slightest bit of vanilla in the base and I'm assuming that's from the tonka bean. Now the other reviews talk about this one being salty- as a blue frag fan, I am not a fan of salty fragrances and this is NOT a salty fragrance. Anyway, I've had this fragrance for a while now and it's one of my favorite Michael Malul scents (alongside Ocean Noir Parfum). I randomly decided to spray this frag on my arm since it's been a while, and with just a single spray on my forearm, my wife, from across the room, said "What's that? It smells nice." I would assume that means this scent projects very nicely, but I cannot say for how long it would continue to do so. A lot of MM frags don't last too long, but I don't want to categorize this as one of those frags just yet. I'm not good at detecting longevity anyway since I go noseblind rather quickly. Lastly, all MM frags can be bought for under $80. Don't buy this at full retail. If you can get it for under $80 and you're looking for a masculine summer fragrance that's easily likable, San Lucas is a no brainer.

In the opening, I do not get much sweetness from this fragrance. On my skin, I get the apple leaf note the most with a bit of fresh geranium too and the opening is really bright and fresh because of it. If there is cardamom in the opening, it's not something I'm used to smelling and cant pick it up. In the mid, the scent starts to develop to a fresh, slightly powdery lavender/fresh iris fragrance. This is where the sweetness starts to come through and open up the fragrance. I really love this stuff - and I was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did!

If you like invictus, Hawas, YSL Myself, then you’ll like this. It’s basically like all three of those but less fruity sweet and leans more on fresh breezy summer air. You won’t hate it if you like any of those three, especially Hawas.

My first fragrance. Honestly. It’s pretty good. It’s a nice scent. Very smooth and a bit salty. My only complaints are: it’s not very special, and it doesn’t last long as want it to. But this is solid 6/10

Opening is fire dry down is nasty work... get a weird wet wood scent on me kinda sickening... wish the opening was the dry down instead really wanted to like this one

Resembles hawas by rasasi in the opening and gets slightly musky compared to hawas in drydown. Noway near the performance of hawas
