Aura

Aura has been one of the strangest fragrance journeys I've ever had. The first time I smelled it, I actually liked it. My hesitation wasn't the scent—it was the name. With a name like Aura, I expected something commanding, something with an unmistakable presence. I imagined a fragrance that would almost give me an aura when I wore it. Instead, I was greeted by something fruity, slightly sweet, and floral. It wasn't bad at all—it just wasn't what I thought "Aura" would smell like. So I came back to it another day, and surprisingly, I liked it even less. I figured maybe it just wasn't for me. Several hours later, though, I couldn't stop bringing my wrist back to my nose. Whatever had been bothering me had disappeared, replaced by a fresh dry down that I genuinely enjoyed. That alone was enough to earn it a third wear. That's when everything changed. Ironically, I almost never make it to the stage that originally won me over anymore because I've become completely addicted to the part I disliked at first. Somewhere in that opening-to-mid transition is an accord that my brain interprets as a creamy, candied jasmine. There's no jasmine listed anywhere in the notes, and I don't actually believe that's what I'm smelling. It's probably the combination of lily of the valley, water lily, and rosewater creating something entirely different, but that's the closest comparison I can make. Even that comparison doesn't feel quite right because Aura doesn't really smell like anything else. In a collection of 500+ bottles, I honestly don't own another fragrance that occupies this space. It's familiar enough to feel approachable, yet unique enough that I can't point to another bottle and say, "It smells like this." My wife still isn't sold on it. She doesn't hate it, but she doesn't enjoy it either, which is unfortunate because I've become completely captivated by it. The biggest realization came after living with it for a while. I finally understood the name. Aura isn't a fragrance that gives you an aura. It is the aura. It creates its own atmosphere—its own presence—that slowly pulls you in. The more time I spent with it, the more I realized the name wasn't describing the wearer at all. It was describing the fragrance itself. Sometimes a fragrance doesn't reveal itself on the first wear. Aura certainly didn't for me. But once it clicked, it became one of the most fascinating and addictive fragrances in my collection.

To me the fragrance started off unisex...slightly went more feminine (with the florals) but ended up going back unisex...if that makes sense But love the smell overall...good evening date night fragrance

Smelled at a fragrance shop. It’s amazing. Slightly sweet. I figure it’s unisex, but women may want something a little sweeter

It's an ok fragrance. Leans more feminine in my opinion. Id say this was a little overhyped.

This unfortunately was a blind buy. It’s too strong it gave me a headache. I thought I would like this since pear and plum are one of my favorite notes but this is bad. It’s so musky and the notes that surround the musk are very sharp. Kinda has a grandma smell with faint woodiness that completely confuses my nose. I this is a scrubber :/

This is nearly identical to Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt with its tangy fruits, and is way more effeminate than masculine. Odd choice of marketing.

I’m a MM fan and blind bought this one, but I was disappointed. This smells like hairspray and grape juice mixed together. 2 out of 5.
