Edgewater

#1657 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Got this as a sprayette sample from scentswithsense.com. Another nice scent from Michael Malul. A bright, warm weather freshie, using the “throw in everything but the kitchen sink” scent approach, in this case using 24 notes. It's the sort of approach I find most often with Brazilian houses, especially Natura, the “Homem” scents ,like “Aromaticos”, “Cor.Agio”, “Absoluto”, “Essence”, “Verum”, “Especiarias”, “Elo”, “Neo, all completely interchangeable. This approach yields pleasant and inoffensive scents that I doubt even the perfumer who made them, Veronica Kato, could tell one from one another. Think scent lines like Azzaro’s “Chrome”, everything Nautica and Tommy Bahama. But this is an EDP, so lasts a little longer than those, even though no freshie really has staying power. This scent is a versatile and moderate performer, Summertime daywear. Nice enough, but definitely not worth $125-150. Purebrasil.com has all the above Natura scents I mentioned for around $70. I collected every Brasilian EDP they carry, and in the process realized how generic they are as a group. Of the ones listed above it matters not at all which you get. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

One of my favorite things about Michael Malul is their selection of premium sample sizes, and not a tiny 2ml. They put quality into their samples/travel sizes, and it shows in the feel, look, and a great atomizer. All of that, and somehow they keep it at a fair price. Because of the quality samples, any release from MM&GS, I get it's sample first before a whole bottle. This one is probably my second favorite in the GS line-up. Smells super fresh, and green but not overbearingly so. The thing that makes this fresh scent stand out (to me) is that it has this slight creamy feel to it. The coconut is just sitting in the corner at the party, not like Le Beau or Fusion D'Issey. To me, it's a great all-arounder as far as time to wear it. Like most of MM's fragrances, this scent lasts a hot minute and the sillage is pretty stout. I will buy a full bottle for sure. I do not get Greenly with this smell, but I can see how it could be considered a second or third cousin.

This frag is soooo good. I haven't disliked any of Ash's fragrances. I haven't been able to try out South Slope yet but am looking forward to it. I only have this frag in a 15ml sample but the thing has a pressurized atomizer! Never have I seen a sample that was pressurized before, ritzy! This scent is sweet and light but with depth or a savoriness to it. Although, every once and awhile I catch a whiff that smells like WD40 Silicone spray but maybe that's just me. Great frag though, recommended and easily blind buy safe. You can get Jet Black, West Loop, Edge Water and Terra Nova samples, 2 10mil & 2 15mil for just $60 on the Michael Malul website. That's a steal for frags this high quality imo. I'll be back for full bottles of each of those though when my samples run out.

I think this is super underrated. The opening is fresh, green, minty, just a hint of spice. At the same time you get a smooth coconut and almost vanilla. Those combined was super pleasant to smell off first sniff. The green notes dull down overtime and the sandalwood, cedar and vanilla notes seem to "step forward" more. I think you can wear this scent anytime of the year.

I got this in a few hours ago and I have to say, I love the opening of this. It's like a less fruity sweet version of PDM Greenley's green apple note mixed with green fig and a touch of mint. It's fruity, semi-sweet, and clean all at the same time. It dries down to a woody, tonka base. It is definitely suited for the spring and very versatile. These are just my first impressions. Overall, I am enjoying this. The quality is great and well-blended much like the previous iterations in the line. This doesn't smell exactly like anything else I own yet a little familiar at the same time.
