Jet Black Mahogany

This is a VERY nice, woody, floral fragrance that may be OK to use for summer nights but probably best in autumn, spring and winter months. If you can get this for under $100, it's probably a pretty safe blind buy. This is a quality, mature fragrance and should be at least sampled. There's not too much risk with this. I just got it today, so I'm curious to see its longevity. It definitely reminds me a bit of Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Reserve Privée. Day Two: This is REALLY nice. I compared it to about a half dozen other fragrances I have that are in the same general fragrance. This came out on top in my little blind sampling. Overall - 8.75 / 10.0 (maybe a drop better actually...)

I'm looking at the "Reminds me of..." section and I am only writing this review to say this this is not like Absolu Aventus at all, nor is it like Percival (Absolu is much more mature with those smooth and smoky elements; Percival is more effervescent and higher quality). Jet Black Mahogany is much closer to Bleu de Chanel edt. It's blue, sweet, aromatic, woody, and it reminds me of BdC edt, and the edp as well (JBM is not like BdC parfum or L'exclusif, just wanted to make that clear). It smells a lot like a blue shower gel. This scent is best for the warmer months. The winter connection attributed to this one is very perplexing. When I think of winter scents, I think of either vanilla, oud, leather, boozy accords, etc., and this has none of that. I've sprayed this on my wrist a few times before making this review. I haven't given it a full wear out in the wild, so I cannot comment on longevity or projection. If I rate this as a Like instead of a Love it is only because the complexity isn't as challenging as fragrances from the house of Ex Nihilo, Chanel, ATH, MFK, or Bond No 9. This is a very easy-to-reach-for fragrance that any one will like. I give the scent alone an 8.5 out of 10.
