Deauville pour Homme

Well color me SUPER-Impressed! Michel Germain's- Deauville Pour Homme smells fantastic! Its definately a more "Classic Gentleman's scent" although I wouldnt think twice if Id smelled this on a woman (My mom thinks this smells Fem). Deauville PH sorta smells as if Shalimar edt and Moschino's ? Uomo totally ignored "Social statuses" and had a torrid love affair which resulted in a love-child who they'd named Deauville PH! Lol! Theres something earthy and ever so sllllightly sweet and yummy/gourmand-ish in this reminding me of the same nuance found Moschino's ? Uomo that I haven't really found in anything else along with the way that the powdery-Iris/Orris is applied here along with the Amber note which are used in a way reminding me of Guerlain's Shalimar edt! Deauville is NOT screechy, it smells pretty refined and is quite long-lasting especially for an edt giving me a good 6 to 7 hours on skin with moderate to good projection becoming a nice, and still quite noticable skin-scent at around hour 3. Again, Deauville Pour Homme is most definately leaning into a more mature "Classic Gentleman's vibe" and can be worn anywhere youd use fragrances like Shalimar, Guerlain's- Habit Rouge or any other classy, gentlemanly fragrances and it DOES NOT smell Cheap or inexpensive. A TRUE Hidden Gem "Sleeper fragrance" for sure and Im giving this little GEM a solid 8.5 outta 10 minus half a point for the ATROCIOUSLY -Cheaply made bottle and Cap, although the atomizer aint half bad at all! For $9.99 at Burlington? A total STEAL & a half and a crazy-good value indeed! Thank you to whomever took the time for the read! CHEERS!! P.S. I layered Deauville over Moschino ? Uomo and it layers PERFECTLY adding a more Powdery nuance to Moschino ? Uomo!

A very nice powdery clean citrus opening , with a slightly sweet tobacco in the dry down. Has that high-end baby wipe vibe. I personally love it. It’s inoffensive and can be oversprayed. Always staying light and never really becomes overwhelming. The performance I don’t love. Hence the overspraying. If you can find this for $20 or less and you’re a fan of slightly old school(not out of date) scents like this then I would highly recommend it. However, both my bottles, that I got for about $10 each, leaked something fierce. So, that’s something to be aware of.

I've had a bottle of Deauville Pour Homme for almost two years, and I have never once regretted my purchase. Just four or five sprays create a warm and inviting scent that lasts longer than average and is suitable for any occasion or season, whether dressed up or casual. It has a slightly powdery quality, but it's more akin to a nice Sandalwood and Orris root (lipstick) powderiness rather than baby powder. My only complaint is the cheap plastic cap. However, at a price range of $10 to $15, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Blind bought this one from TJ Maxx. This is a good clean scent that smells like a light powder freshness with a sweet touch. Will not offend co workers they actually like this one. Update: Many compliments from women with this fragrance. This is smooth and refined and Niche for a great price. This is my new secret go to scent for work.

If youre expecting a tobacco amber scent you might be disappointed but that being said its still an awesome fragrance. Its one of those scents where you cant pick out any of the notes but blends nicely. You just get a sweet powdery scent somewhat reminiscent of burberry brit. The opening is citrus though

Powdery, not very sweet, not too dry (but on the dry side), fresh, soapy, and potent enough to get through the work day without needing to top it off, Deauville is the perfect complement to aftershaves like Wild Country or Clubman. It's a fougere with some orientalist touches, and the trio of lavender/iris/tobacco holds it all together. This carries a very traditional barbershop air to it, and if you're familiar with the two aforementioned scents and things like Rive Gauche PH and Caron's Third Man, Deauville will smell in line with those. I really like it, which surprises me, because frankly after seeing this fragrance on discount store shelves for years and never pulling the trigger, I expected it to smell hollow and cheap. It doesn't. This smells well made, with very good materials, and it's a smart composition. It's not very complex: expect to smell the lavender and mandarin in the top notes, with a touch of bitter bergamot to balance out the warm sweetness of the mandarin, followed by a powdery iris and tobacco accord that rests on a woodsy mossy base.

I have had this fragrance for about 6 months. I picked it up while on holiday in the US for about $10 (2.5 oz size). The bottle is weirdly shaped (I think maybe it is shaped like the bow of an ocean liner, or a very foreshortened ship, as Deauville is a seaside resort). Anyhow, the lid is pretty cheaply made and so tight on my bottle that it pulls off the plastic housing surrounding the sprayer. This gives the impression that this fragrance is cheap and nasty. Not true. This is as others have said, powdery, but also has citrus and a hint of pepper. The floral aspect is lavender and something else, which is quite indistinct to me, though I agree with Kmarich : it does resemble neroli. A spicy flanker to Lagerfeld original would smell not too dissimilar to Deauville. The projection and longevity are reasonable and it is certainly worth the small amount I paid for it.

Picked this up yesterday from Ross for $11.99 and let me say, I'm very content. I'm not usually a fan of powdery scents but this is done right. It's a good balance of a clean linen with a slight barbershop classic smell. In the dry down there's a touch of sweetness🥧 from the tobacco and orris. In the opening I don't get much Sage🪻(which we all know Sage can be overbearing) but I get a blast of freshness and the middle just blends perfectly into the base notes. I assume the perfumer didn't want this to project like a monster so Performance may not be to some of your likings. It's about 1-2 hours of projection and very light sillage Scent: 7/10 Performance: 3/10 Value:10/10 Overall: 20/30

I also snagged this frag at Ross for $12. Recognizing the house I figured it was worth a try. I actually really like the scent and find it sweet with a powdery dry down with hints of a darker caramel type of sweetness in the base. One bit I don't like is whatever smells, to me at least, like clean fresh diapers. An odd description I know and I am new to the frag game so I'm not sure what part of the scent gives me that impression. It's very slight and I only catch hints of it, but it's there. Overall a very pleasant scent. Recommended pick up. This frag grew on me immensely over the time I've worn it. An INCREDIBLE pick up for all of $12.

Shali-male light? I get a bit of a powdery Shalimar style open, but not fizzy or as complex as Amber Eternal. There's orange and lavender plus some difficult to discern greens in the background of the open. As it progresses I get more iris and clean lavender laundry, but not in an overpowering way; it's light and simple, staying airy. As the wafts of the clean laundry notes heart fade after a couple minutes nose to skin on the dry down I get a sweet tobacco. Pleasant afternoon refresher. I found a 75ml for $11 at Ross Dress for Less; it's hard to beat that considering this was an above average fragrance at giveaway pricing.

@mannyb....your review is by far the most agreeable to me on this fragrance.I have no clue where or how Dior Homme comes in here.it DOES NOT smell anything like DH.Absolutely nothing at all!! I am not too in love with this yet as I find the top notes a bit too much and unpleasant but ok when it dries down to be a bit tolerable. but as has been said for the price you really cant moan.I do like the bottle though.cant add more to what you did.Excellent review.i do have all the ones you compared this to and wholly agree with you wholeheartedly on this. Saw this at the store for ten dollars and decided to look it up. Upon seeing it has iris which is one of my favorite notes i blind bought and am generally happy with the purchase. It’s definitely not a dark iris vibe like dhi or valentino uomo intense i actually would compare more to givenchy edt intense not because the actual smell but i see myself wearing both more in spring and fall and both pair iris with some spice and earthiness. I could see this leaning older probably 30+ but for the 10$ i paid I consider this a great steal.

It is a nice Woody fragrance, Based on Michel Germain Site is a Woody scent , In my opinion It is a bit classic and mature. It reminds me a bit of Shalimar EDT for Women ! If you like a barbershop and old school style perfume, you will like this one. It opens up with like slightly smoky, fresh spicy, herbal and tobacco notes in the background then dry down is mossy woody. This is perfect for the spring, fall and winter. I like Deauville Pour Homme EDT for Men. Rating : 7.5 / 10

Just picked this up as a blind buy for $14 at Marshalls and I'm glad I did. VERY FRESH AND CLEAN. It's definitly a MAJOR SLEEPER for the price. I enjoy it from fresh opening to smooth drydown. Very underrated! I've already received plenty of compliments. I will hold it down for my everyday-whatever spray during spring. I'd probably give it about a 7.5/10 at least.

Powdery, fresh oriental. Opens with lavender and juicy citrus. It’s not long before the iris and nutmeg take over. Amber and tobacco create a smooth base. It’s soft but hints of pepper and oakmoss remind of its masculinity. There is some class and maturity to it. Light sillage but good longevity. Deauville is a good option for the office.

Spotted a .50z at TJMaxx for $2.00 and jumped on it. When I 1st sprayed it Dior Homme immediately came to mind. This is a wonderful smell my only problem is the projection and longevity. The scent sticks so close to the skin and it seems to wear off very fast. It's good for close encounters with someone special but that's about it.

This is a VERY NICE scent with good performance, and it's inexpensive. I'm not a fan of powdery fragrances and that's how this one starts out, BUT the other notes quickly come in to nicely combine into a very pleasant experience. Bonus: My wife likes it and gave me a complement, which is rare.

This is actually a good quality fragrance. Has a pleasant smell that I would feel comfortable wearing in the office. If this was released by one of the big name houses, I think it would score much higher. It is made in Canada in case anyone is curious.

This reminds me of Boucheron ph. I bought this for shits and giggles for like 15 bucks for 2.5 oz and it was money well spent. This is a great underrated scent.

Absolutely love it!!! I love powdery scents. My nose is so new and untrained so I can't tell what's what yet but I really enjoy.

Not bad for the price.. First 15 min is HORRIFIC 😱 & smells very cheap & old lady like. THE DRY DOWN THOUGH, is quite good.. it’s the pipe tobacco & Amber that smells delicious. I would not recommend spraying on clothes as the pocketbook 👛 👜 Iris lingers on fabrics. 2hrs in & the Oak moss appears & turns the lovely tobacco into cigarette smoke 🤢. Leans feminine Very vaguely does remind me of 1725 somewhat, but only for a hour or so.. these are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT fragrances. 1725 is more almond cookie/ bakery barbershop talc. Casanova is 🤴

Smells like baby powder mixed with the original Old Spice. I can't even be around this scent, it makes me sick... Smells very cheap. Almost embarrassing to wear.

Got a free bottle and almost didn't take it. Need I say more? But Sexual from Michel Germain is very nice and seductive. 2/10

I am a HUGE fan of his original Sexual Pour Homme. But honestly, THIS SUCKS.

Weird "fresh" type opening, but then it settles down into a Dior Homme type of fragrance (vintage DH, not the new formulation), so if you like that kind of fragrance, you might like this one. Longevity is very good and projection/"sillage" is moderate, which is appropriate for this kind of fragrance (unless you want to be the center of attraction, perhaps). If you don't like powdery fragrances, avoid this one. Don't expect heavy tobacco here, as there's just a hint of it. Perhaps it is best thought of as a cross between Dior Homme and the original Lagerfeld Cologne (not Lagerfeld Classic, which I consider a poor reformulation), with a bit of oakmoss added. Is this better than Dior Homme? That leads to an interesting point about fragrances like DH and L'Instant Pour Homme. These two twist and turn in wonderful ways for 2 to 3 hours, but after that things get quite boring. Deauville is not nearly as good during its first few hours as those two are, but after that it retains dynamism and complexity, while those two do not. I guess it's a kind of tortoise and hare kind of thing, but however you want to think of it, ask yourself what you really want from this kind of fragrance. I don't think you'll get a much better powdery tobacco fragrance than Deauville, after a few hours are gone. You might get one a bit different, but not substantially better, whether that fragrance is niche or vintage. I think Michael for Men (Kors) is better than Deauville because it's great all the way through, but that one is not a powdery tobacco fragrance, like Deauville and Dior Homme, so again, it depends upon exactly what you're seeking. NOTE: DPH and Dior Homme share several strong notes in common (spice, iris/orris, lavender, tobacco, sage, and amber). DPH has some nice oakmoss in the base, whereas DH has a rather nondescript, gourmand-tinted one. There's no doubt that they open differently, but at some point are quite similar. I do not understand how anyone can fail to recognize that these strong notes are common to both, but the human sense of smell never fails to surprise me, it seems.

Deauville is a québécois conceived and executed scent that fits the spring and fall daytime and early evening wear and is targeted at more mature and vintage men looking for a softer, less edgy but still earthy blend of amber, tobacco, aromatic and fresh spicy but without the loudness and complexity of notes so common in these type of fragrances during the 1970s. There's a powdery essence to this early on that is very off putting and a bit cloying, after several wearings I think I can trace it to the mingling of the sage, nutmeg and clementine that makes it rather astringent and synthetic. Luckily this recedes after the first hour of wear as the amber and tobacco assert themselves and push the nutmeg and sage to the background. The ingredients here are cheap and not profoundly blended, but they still make for a passable scent that doesn't overdo the amber and lavender like so many others of its type. The dry down is a soft amber calmed by the oakmoss and tobacco though it's difficult to pick either of them up in anything but flashes under the amber The orris root is there throughout the dry down and lends an even earthier touch to an already muddy and spicy affair. Decent for the budget price, but nothing groundbreaking nor essential. Not for newbies or the 35 and under crowd who are looking for more flash and energy, this is bland. Longevity is quite good, 8-12 hours on average (excels between 50-75 degrees) and projection is moderate with 1-2 sprays but anything more things can get heavy. Didn't receive many compliments wearing this at conferences and the office, but did encounter a couple negative reactions from younger women who insinuated I smelled too powdery and old lady. But with 2 sprays you should avoid any imposition and still enjoy the earthy, spicy tones of this one. Ok release, very good performance but the scent itself is rather bland a bit heavy on the synthetics early before drying into an earthy amber and woodsy, rootsy green aura.

I just found out that there’s an edp version of this. Was wondering if they’re the same scent or not because I have the edt and wouldn’t mind getting an edp version of this if it has a heavier note profile. After repurchasing this fragrance for a while, I’m ready to give it an in depth review. It starts off powdery and citrusy. It fills your nose with a citrusy makeup powder smell. When I spray this on, I visualize a bright sunny day in the 80s after passing by an older lady who doused herself in powdery perfume. It’s a powdery iris, not to be mistaken with the waxy iris in Dior Homme which is a lipstick smell while this is a makeup powder smell. The citrus and tobacco note calm the powdery note down. It’s a very uplifting fragrance especially for the first 15 mins. The dry down definitely becomes more masculine and barbershop style. The iris also shines through while still being powdery. It’s a very clean smelling cologne. The only downside is that it doesn’t last long. I wish the bright opening lasted longer because it goes to the dry down too fast and then it becomes a skin scent. Over spraying doesn’t help either because it just becomes a heavier skin scent fragrance that just lasts longer. It has no sillage or scent trail which is why I primarily use this as a body spray or something I spray on at home. I gave up on using this as a cologne because it becomes a skin scent within 30 mins even if you overspray. When I use it as a body spray I find that it compliments iris and aldehyde colognes. If you like 80s powdery fragrances that have a barbershop feel then you should get this but if you’re looking for something like the waxy iris in Dior Homme then this isn’t it.

This was a blind by, and I wasn't thrilled with it for a while. It reads as more powdery than most of the fragrances that I enjoy. However, like some other fragrances, the more I wore it, the more I started to appreciate how it was put together. I find it fascinating how the nutmeg plays against the Orris root through much of the longevity of the fragrance. I wish that the lavender and citrus notes were a bit stronger initially, but this really becomes quite a nice skin scent as it dries down. I can't imagine wearing this one during the summer unless it was on a beach with a lot of cool winds blowing in from the ocean. This is definitely a fall scent in my opinion but not quite Rich enough to move it over into winter or even comfortably into evening wear for me. The sage is tricky because you don't always smell it, but overall this is really quite a lovely little fragrance and very affordable.

Wow!! What a beautiful surprise, honestly. The only other cologne I own from Michel Germaine is Sexual, and that bottle Is easily in my top 20. I could be wrong but to my recollection this was released in the late 90’s? Anyway, it comes across barbershop like, but in the best of ways. It’s got a dated feel but in a very modern way if that makes any sense. To my nose this is kind of tricky to explain. It’s got a fresh soapy vibe but it’s very subtle, but strong. I’m giving this a solid 8/10 for me. I’m proud to own this stuff and would never hesitate wearing it either.

This was another blind buy that was worth the $10 spent for a 2.5 oz bottle. I would definitely put this fragrance on the same shelf and category as Versace Dreamer. This scent starts off with bright citrusy blasts of clementine, then turns into Versace Dreamer, but then dries down to a lighter, soapy-sage version of Dreamer. I will most likely wear Deauville Pour Homme more than Versace Dreamer as DPH is more well rounded (in my opinion). Worth a try and blind buy if you're able to find for $9.99 or less.

Awesome stuff! Dior Homme does not compare... this is better, unless you like the plasticky powdery smell of Dior H. This has a lot more happening, there is something else besides the very balanced powderiness that reminds me of The Dreamer drydown. So why this is a cheapie? Perhaps because of the abysmal projection. It lasts a while as a skin scent, but I can hardly smell it myself after the first hour..unless I take a good sniff on myself. Pity..with better projection..this would be a 8/10.

Very cool clean aromatic with some powdery sweetness to it. Clementine is obvious and herbs blend in so well that I can't say what is what. I get something peppery but never gets spicy or out of hand. Overall, I find it meh... boring actually. The bottle looks a bit too art deco and it's a little cheesy, I think. It's a type of fragrance that ain't for making a statement or a grand entrance. I wouldn't mind getting one but it's not a must have for me.

.....I layer this one with one from Swiss Arabian called Nawaf . The combo is sorta Amazing! . I’ve only worn this a few times,.. but it took me that many wearings to detect the beautiful Iris in this one. For the price you can find this it’sa steal at sub 40$✅👌 I never put an age, season, gender, time of day, or none of that situational nonsense to a fragrance! If you Like it.. love it,,.. just Rock with it 🫶

This stuff smells pretty good but it smells better on my girlfriend.. On her i get a bit of powdery citrus intro and a powder spice and chocolate heart. I would say this is too heavy to be summer scent.. More like a a winter or fall scent. Basically smells like Van Cleef and Arpels Midnight in paris with a touch of masculine citrus.

These Germain fragrances are inexpensive; so, they frequently get compared to other cheap fragrances. But, Deauville pour Homme is very similar to a particular, expensive, niche fragrance: 1725 Casanova by HdP. It dries down powdery and sweet. I like it, but I think it leans more feminine than I would typically wear.

Very hard to wear imo very powdery and floral almost kinda unisex spewing to the more feminine side. Was a blind buy spray it once to test it have not sprayed it since, on the upside it’s a unique looking bottle

The only thing I own from Michel Germain now is the original Séxūal Pour Homme. I have owned this, Sugar Daddy, and Nights and they all smell extremely cheap and pathetic except the original Sèxūal.

For those curious about Deauville Blue (which I found at Ross), the flanker smells 95% like a weaker version of Perry Ellis Night. I recommend sticking with the original Deauville.

Wow, this is a FINE fragrance that punches well above it's price point. Its a very elegant light scent. It smells exactly like a masculine shalimar, but with a modern touch.

This is not a bad scent. It's made for the spring/summer. It's a very light non-offensive smell. Perfect for work/office as well as casual use. Longevity may be an issue...

Kinda reminds me of a winter version of CK1 or Chrome. The pepper dominates this fragrance throughout the top and mid with a warm dry down. This is really good juice

Definitely has that lipstick / women's pocketbook smell. Lacks the cocoa vibe of dior homme. A nice warm weather scent IMO.
