America Legend

First time wearing this today. And its now over taking my abercrombie bottle. The amount of compliments I gotten today is unreal. Never had I gotten so many from a cologne im so happy with this. It's perfect match or Firece

Growing up as a working class kid in Scandinavia, by the time I was 25 I'd managed saving enough money to make a journey through some of the United Stated for about a month. At that time in my life, the only perfume I used was a (sigh!) CK One I shared with my girlfriend, apart from that deodorant spray would have to do. I vividly remember the first times visiting american malls - those were not a thing in Scandinavia around the millenium - and especially the Abercrombe & Fitch stores, which all smelled magnificently. I later found out the smell was Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce. Fast forward ten years, I'm searching for Fierce which is hard to find here - and ridicously priced as well - and come across a british dupe which can be bought for as little as 15 €. America Legend has all the notes I remember from A&F Fierce and they are spot on : An overload of fresh white musk, lemon, petitgrain, clary sage and fir on a heart of rosewood. Perfect woody aromatic. But - please be advised that the sprayer is aerosol driven (like a deodorant) and will give off a generous amount of perfume. For those that find America Legend underperforming, I have a small story : about two years ago I had a short business meeting with a client where I applied 3 (three!) small sprays of AL at 7.30 in the morning after showering. The meeting was at 09.00 and we got through most of the negotiations within a short period of time. A little after 9.30 I left the client, but when I got to my car I realized that I'd forgotten some important signed documents in the meeting room. I enter the company again, open the door to the meeting room to pick up the documents and BAM! I'm hit with the most beautiful smell of white musk and woods. Needless to say, from that day on I only use two sprays per wearing. Price/quality ratio is through the roof on this one!

This isn't too bad. Not as strong as I would hope, but it's not too bad. It's pretty generic, pretty fresh and apparently like Abercrombie and Fitch - Fierce, which i've never smelt, but it's ok. Longevity is poor as is the sillage - on my skin it's gone in 1-2 hours, so I needed to re-apply often. Overall 5/10 - would be higher but for the poor longevity and sillage.

I can't say whether or not this smells like A&F Fierce because I've never encountered the latter, but what I can say is that this smells very good. The scent opens with a green citrus smell, maybe lemon verbena and mandarin, then progresses to a heart redolent of many men's shaving creams and deodorants. It's mossy and soapy in the dry-down, but not too green or old-fashioned - in fact, it smells very youthful due to it's resemblance to contemporary men's toiletries. So far impressed with this brand. Unbelievably cheap (£5) and performance so far indicates beast mode. The sprayer is crazy, too: very like a Dior atomiser in distribution/functionality, only with the addition that it keeps spraying as long as you hold down the pump - easy to overspray. Also remarkable is the apparent quality of the ingredients. Upon application there's no alcohol blast or effervescent pungency, two problems which beset most designer fragrances. In fact, the very first few seconds smell just as good as the rest of the development - not cheap or acrid at all. For future reference, anyone who is interested can Google "New 2015 Milton Lloyd Smell-a-like List" and see a full list of all the Milton Lloyd fragrances and the designer juice they are aping. Not my list or my site, but a good resource that you might find useful. EDIT: Since writing this review I smelled both Mont Blanc Legend and Claiborne Curve. America Legend is better than both of them. The similarities between the three are obvious, especially on the top, but as they dry down America Legend remains full bodied and balanced whereas Curve and Mont Blanc turn too sweet - the former in a bubblegum way and the latter an ambery way. Hopefully I'll smell A&F Fierce soon.
