CHEF'S TABLE

Just as perfumery is about telling a story through notes, Top Chef is a narrative of flavor. Each episode layers taste, technique, and terroir, much like how a fragrance layers basil over tomato over musk. Both invite you to interpret, imagine, and emotionally connect with something sensory and ephemeral. I sought out Chef’s Table as a blind buy while watching Top Chef Destination Canada this season on Bravo. Tom Colicchio mentioned the niche perfume to Andy Cohen. Chefs on the show balance innovation with classical technique, which parallels the work of perfumers who blend avant-garde ideas with rigid olfactory pyramids. Whether it’s plating a dish or bottling an extrait, both are crafts refined through obsession and intuition. Sometimes dishes that are heavy in fat need acidity while perfumes heavy in florals need galbanum resin. I can't taste the food on Top Chef. I can only imagine it. Similarly, I read reviews on here to smell vicariously through descriptions. Language becomes my bridge between senses and experience in both cases. Both food and fragrance are tightly linked to my memory. Min New York’s Chef’s Table immediately brought to mind having an outdoor bistro lunch one sunny pre-COVID fall day at Ad Forum in Aosta, Italy. I had a parmesan crusted bowl of gnocchi and ham in a savory buttery white sauce with freshly cut herbs. It was likely the stem leaves, basil and sage top notes that trigger my memory of that time and place. I’m looking forward to wearing Chef’s Table during nights out on the culinary town because the fragrance will not compete with the food, but rather complement it. Wearing Chef’s Table will feel like seasoning the night itself. Top Chef and perfumery both play with nostalgia, identity, and longing. I highly recommend the fragrance if you’re a fan of the show.

Full disclosure, tomato and herbal green scents are my favourite fragrance notes. This is absolute perfection. A minty green, light as air, soapy aromatic tomato and basil scent. It is so uplifting. The bergamot and black currant bring a sharp quality, whilst the basil makes it feel wet and fresh. The tomato is green, more stems and leaves than fruit. It reminds me like a less peppery and more rounded Tacit by Aesop, and a twin sister to Corsica Furiosa by Parfum d'Empire but softer and more airy. The dry down is so interesting, the fresh young tomato disappears and develops into a more jammy stewed tomato smell. Not in a bad way at all, in a rich and bursting ripe manner. I love the journey this fragrance takes you on. So special. I can't justify currently adding another tomato fragrance to my collection, but it is on my hit list for a future purchase. 10/10

A stunning fresh, green, herbal fragrance. Beautifully judged and balanced. Those opening tomato vine, sage and basil notes are perfection. It mellows down to a soft, sweet herbal scent with a hint of rose and tonka - yet remains light and refreshing. A very interesting, complex niche scent. I'm a big fan of the MIN's and own a few of them, and I often spray a touch of the Ad Lumen rose scent after this just to heighten the rose and reduce a little of the herbal/tomato element - which is my personal preference and puts me in a herbal rose garden in the height of a British summer - BUT, the scent is flawless and fascinating in it's own right.

I had the chance to test Chef's table from a sample gifted to me; from the very first spray the tomato leaf is there, so clear, so green and evident that it reminded me of a tomato plant we had in the garden back when I was a child; as RubyBirdy said the development is quiet linear but for me it's quite persistent, the tomato leaf stays on my skin for a long time (lasting even after showering) and on my clothes for closely a whole day. Definitely is a (different) smell I love specially during this hot weather that is already here in the south of Europe.

This one is gorgeous! On my skin i can smell mostly herbs: very strong and natural sage, basil, some tomato leaves. After many hours it gets sweeter, rounder, I think it's rose and tonka. Very nice, very my style, very unisex. I do not get kitchen vibe though, for me it's mostly herbal garden on a sunny day. Brings back happy summer memories in this gloomy covid November.
