MOON DUST

This stuff pulled me in like a black hole. Back when Mercari was Disneyland for both buyers & sellers, a generous seller gifted my order a sample of moon dust- we then talked ad nauseam around it. Instantly went and bought a tester and later a sealed box for safekeeping( and I’m still privy to a 3rd 😜) To best compare it I would say it has fragments of Ganymede extrait and a lot similar to journey man whilst also having its own patent in the arena making this a real gem to have amongst those two powerhouses. The imagery I’ve settled on when journaling: The benzoin strolls in draping its coat and hat on the rack and makes its way to the piano- its hair made of cured tobacco leaves that plant sparkles in the air like fireflies. Then at the 3 hr mark on my wrist I smell Ganymede extraits profile at its 14th hour performance. All this time though I’m not smelling like a dupe or knock off it’s unquestionably original, and a great bridge between the two giants. I got it! Moon dust is the arena where Asura (journey man) and Augus (Ganymede extrait) battle it out where certain corners hold the record of who had the upper hand in this point in the bout. Heheh like William Defoe in boondocks Saint mapping out a crime scene, at certain points im like “ah, this is where Augus parried and oh over here is where Asura doubled down” I think the only thing that would heighten this experience is guaic wood + suede or birch + tonka bean. There’s a fragrance called birch in acacia that has this real burned exosphere smell and idk if that’s thanks to the former or latter note combo, I want to say maybe guaic + tonka bean because a heavy helping of tonka bean burns my nose on the finish of a sniff This would add that heat of rage in a vacuum space that Asura gives off

The top is dominated by the carrot seed, supported by coriander and a light birch tar (aka leather) note, giving a vague tobacco and flint vibe. But as I said, the top is mostly a very spiced light leather, reminding me of Tauer Lonestar Memories. The base is mostly a strong 'dirty-ish' (but not animalic) musk, of similar quality as the one in Goutal Musc Nomade (just the musk note). That, supported by a 'earthy notes' accord (probably woods - cedar, and a drop of saffron-y oud, maybe? - and spices) as well as a drop of benzoin, will give to this fragrance noticeable similarities to DS&Durga El Cosmico, without ever becoming identical. And in the late drydown, it become a straightforward smoky/astringent dark leather. What a journey! The thought process here is similar to Peau de Pierre by Starck, even if the final results are very distant one from the other. In a nutshell, this is a spicy/ambery musk and leather fragrance. Yes, I know, it's a big nutshell... but it's hard to label this one, and possibly the perfect example of an 'oriental leather' labelled fragrance. Both projection and longevity are moderate on my skin, something positive, as too much of this one might become cloying. The name is quite well found, as this is the kind of weird scent I would imagine the moon to smell, combined with some spaceship warm engine and fuel smell. Compared to some other houses, MiN's line pricing appears as nearly fair in view of their uniqueness. Still, even with a major discount, I don't consider it a cheap purchase, but I find worth every penny I paid for. Because this is the level of creativity I expect contemporary fragrances to deliver. Beautiful in my book, but definitely not a safe blind buy.

I have many fragrances and have never been inspired to write a review until now. I was researching different scents based upon the notes I tend to lean towards, when I stumbled upon Min New Yorks line of fragrances. After reading about the notes, and composition I knew I had to try this stuff. I received my sample in the mail today, and Im going to give you my first impressions. I was very excited to try this stuff because it seemed so perfect for me. But once I was holding the sample in my hand I began to get nervous. "what if this scent that seems like it could be so perfect, goes horribly wrong." "What if its not what I expected it to be." Anyway I sprayed it on my arm, and waited a bit. Once I inhaled, I knew this was something special. Initially it reminds you of Aventus because of the strong smokiness, but Aventus has the fruity notes which brings in a sweetness. Moon Dust is unapolegeticly dark, dirty, and smokey. I gathered a cedar note, but as if the cedar was burning in a fire, and a light dirt note with benzoin. This is really special for me and I will be ordering a bottle. But I must say this is not for everyone it is definitely a try before you buy. And it is most certainly masculine to the max. I can't see any woman wearing this. Edit: As much as I LOVE this fragrance, it seems from the sampler that its longevity is lacking a bit and faded on me rather quickly. I will test out more from my bottle and review.

This is genuinely one of my favorite scents. I've been nursing a sample bottle for a few months, and will invest in the full size once it runs out. Just out of the bottle, it's mineral smoke, and it comes off cold, industrial, and sharp. A bit of burned rubber. But as it sinks in to my skin, it heats up- I get a bit more tobacco, a bit more benzoin, and instead of a a cold, industrial wasteland, I'm transported to a desert in an electrical storm. The ozone positively crackles, and reminds me of childhoods spent in Arizona in the summer, watching giant thunderheads build on the horizon, roll in, and then burst with storm. I present myself as fairly feminine, but when I want something sharp, hard, more masculine, I reach for this. I'm drawn to scents with hints of incense in them, (Shalimar is my one true love), but I wear this when I want to feel powerful. Sometimes I don't want to be a sweet gourmand, or a soft white flower, like is so prevalent in womens' scents today. I want to be the desert, unmoving, to be eternal, to be electric like a storm. I'm not interested in palatable. And this scent delivers that sharp-as-knives feeling I'm searching for. As such, I usually don't wear this out, except to very particular events or occasions, populated with other strange creatures such as myself.

It has occured only a handful of times that I was blown away by something. In case the scent attributes mean anything, I should believe that there is really moon dust in there. It has a fantastic dose of "flint", whatever that my be, however it is present at all times and as the name describes "moon dust". It also has "metallic notes", whatever that may be. We should face the fact, that this is a perfectly executed combination of geosmin, cypriol, cashmeran and hard amber. With a lot of norlimbanol, comes a great responsibility. I am fazed, in awe and absolutely ecstatic about this fragrance. Would I pay 280$ for a bottle? No, but I would buy an entire litre of Geosmin instead. Maybe I might get a few more of the "flint" notes that rumble around in the base. Verdict: Fantastic perfume, I only write reviews about fantastic or terrible perfumes. This is a blind buy, if you are convinced to be living on the moon. Otherwise, dose yourself in this. You won't regret it.
