This is a unique and beautiful composition, in some ways simple yet so well made - like a verse from haiku poetry. Very green and dewy, very slightly bitter. But mostly fresh. Cold mineraly notes come through too, like a rock in an ice cold creek would smell. Very prominent cypress and pine, hints of freshly cut grass. All very fresh and green, reminds of crisp cool springtime evergreen forrest, a hidden brook babbling by, ancient rocks covered in moss. Very scenic and sensory scent.

This scent as unique effect. The only way I can describe it is that it is the scent of a shaft of light wrapping around some dew on a leaf. It is more than a scent. It is palpable. The only concern I would have with this is I don't know if I could wear it because I like it too much and would not want to get used to it. It is more of a poem than a scent.

Min New York Onsen smells just like a luxury spa experience. It has this beautiful aquatic, fresh scent that instantly makes me feel at peace. It’s the kind of fragrance I reach for when I want to unwind and relax after a busy day.

A green/piney unisex fragrance, that a plastick-y vanilla note (unlisted but clearly noticeable) makes it lean towards feminine during an opening that results nice, clean and niche-quality but not unique (some remote similarities with CN Cyber Garden). I wasn't impressed at that point, but the vetiver and ambergris makes it pretty unique, very interesting and definitively masculine in the drydown. Good-but-not-great top with a heavenly drydown. Still, I cannot recommend it because for the price I expect a pyramid-long wow effect that takes too long to show up. Initially a pass for me, but I may change my mind should I find a great deal on ebay.

It seems the simpler the composition and the less obtuse the concept, the better the perfumes are in this line. This is mostly a lemony, slightly camphorous hinoki wood and pine. Sharp and fresh, yet softened by a gentle, herbal sweetness that reminds me of licorice or dill. Have to say it's the one scent in this line that I would actually wear. Guess that means I'm boring for not wanting to smell like soil and school benches :P

I've tried so many perfumes, but Onsen MiN stands out. The scent is fresh, delicate, and surprisingly deep, like a peaceful moment in a hot Japanese spring. It feels luxurious but not overpowering. Its the kind of fragrance that makes you feel clean and rejuvenated, like stepping into nature.

This is a cosy, reassuring clean masculine-leaning fragrance, very herbaceous and fresh in the opening. Drydown is a smooth caress. It's lovely but it disappears too quickly so it's not worth it I guess. Too bad

Onsen is a nice unisex scent, very light for summer daytime with a discreet presence. You must spray two times in the same spot to be able to detect it and have a decent projection. This is mainly a spicy bergamot bomb. Other strong notes are artemisia, ambergis and vetiver. It is not similar with Hermes Terre that some say. I don't know how hinoki smells but there is no forest smell on this scent. Performance is moderate overall. Longevity is about low-moderate and sillage is soft.

This is nice and it's growing on me the more I smell it. I have a bias towards these types of green, artemesia-based fragrances. Although I haven't smelled it in isolation, this feels like a good example of the slightly bitter, but also slightly sweet and syrupy aromatic freshness that I find in a lot of other similar scents. This starts with a muted green aroma- not the sharpness of galbanum or other sharp greens to my nose. Alongside it there's a fresh, cypress-based lemon-like shade of pine that feels invigorating, balmy, and transparent. After a few minutes the ambergris comes through alongside the heavier, murky aspects of tree-based extracts I associate with moss and fir. It's a little swampy, a little dirty even, but It retains a pleasing, natural sense of earthy greens and a subtle, herbal sweetness. It doesn't really sparkle or come of as peircing in any way, but remains quiet and humming as a muddled bunch of herbs in vermouth-based cocktail might. At times I pick up some typically unpleasent aspects of ambergris, but that's slightly subjective and hard to detect. Performance may be below average, but since I'm a fan of this style it may be worth snagging at the discounters.

Onsen’s a delicate scent to discuss as I feel like it’ll be too easy to dismiss for those of us who lean toward more challenging perfumes. The main reason is because this scent is inspired by a Japanese volcanic hot spring so it leans appropriately toward a calming minimalism with distinctly clean notes; safe, bordering on pedestrian—at least on the surface. Furthermore, the fragrance reminds me of a popular men’s deodorant, and, if you know the scent, that might be where your associations take you. It’s essentially an earthy, mineralic affair with a scorched sliver running throughout. There’s a dusty facet that’s crossed with crisp pine and woody notes, but the scent never veers into true forest territory. Instead, it references the four classical elements via a washed-and-scrubbed effect with a touch of ash. As it develops, it becomes increasingly effervescent (feeling somewhat exfoliating), and a standard oakmoss base closes the blend.

The opening of Onsen is like a blast of green / dark green notes that range from hinoki to astringent artemisia via pine and vetiver. It immediately made me think of Hinoki by CDG but, unfortunately, the biggest portion of this fragrance by MiN NY, is occupied by a massive and exhausting dry / mineral, kind of mossy, woody-amber base that immediately drives it towards cheap grocery-shop style body deodorant territories. It's interesting for the first half an hour, nice for the second hour or so...completely exhausting for the remaining fourteen hours of lasting power. Nope. If you like hinoki-themed / centered fragrances, both CDG Hinoki and Angela Ciampagna Nox are two cheaper and better options Rating: 5/10

the dry down on this scent is Beautiful, there's definitely a really soft, calming soapy quality. i would say, however, that the initial spray and top notes of this fragrance are quite sharp. i definitely get the pine, but there's almost a peppery aroma to my nose? it's certainly not unpleasant, just strong! the only issue i have with this fragrance is the longevity—i'm lucky if i get 3 hours out of it before it's completely a skin scent. i'll have to see how i feel after i finish up my sample, but i'm considering a full bottle!!

This smells like matcha !!! This is what I envision a match perfume to smell like. I sniffed it in store and immediately tried searching in the notes as I truly expected to see matcha on there, and I’m so surprised to see 0 matcha notes. It smells like a creamy, green matcha and it’s so delicious.

Totally getting the hinoki and the cypress, but also a herbaceous element. I'm not sure if it actually is something herbaceous, or some kind of accord struck between all the woods, but I like it. Totally worth a try, possibly more...

Forget about all the notes above. Mostly what I get is an ozonic hinoki and galbanum blend, with some watery notes on top. It's easy to wear, but neither challenging nor exciting. Nothing niche nor complex here.
