Byc Moze...Pariz

Why PariZ in the name, Fragrantica? Why? It's like a slap in the face of one of the most interesting scents in the country. With the history reaching '70, It is said that if a scent is being sold for a decade we're probably in need to look it up closer. This one has been sold over 50 years, mind you, never advertised! And it does not even look appealing 0 at first it was a modest carton box in blue dots, with a gaudy etiquette sometimes lopsided. Yet it was close enough to the Miss Dior and other worldly scents that ladies were buying the perfume in literal litres. In most of the Eastern block. True, the choice was limited, but there were attempts, not very remarkable. Btw, thanks for reminding me one of my favourite perfume. Favourite now, as a child, when the scent was all the rage I just hated it. Like all the "granny" scents, like I could not understand the hype for coffee, wine, olives and all the good stuff basically. I disliked the simple shape of the tiny bottle, wanted something more ornamental that I would put on my vanity and use with ease. They never changed the bitter opening or the bottle. And that's because it was good and did not need anything to be changed. The bergamot opening is quite powerful, might be perceived as masculine, bitter, almost angry. Then it develops into something warm, but clear, like sunlight frolicking over snowy trees in a winter forest walk. I love wearing it in snowy days, with a white mohair coat and all white basically, it just does something to my nose that I cannot have enough of. I learned the packaging was similar to Yardley's Caprice (yeah Fragrantica, where is it?). So... copying everything? I'm not sure. There is a significant difference between the scents and the original was probably tampered with, making it all retro yet wearable. I would wear it on colder days, byt would try on hot summer nights, in moderation. I might try them in spring, in a very light dose. They're like a deep wine-coloured lipstick, will never go out of style and if you know how to apply it right - you can wear it all the occasions you want.

It's a very intense perfume that evolves from a sharp floral (mainly artificially smelling rose), through awfully strong ambergris stage, to eventually flourish a deep chypre aura. If you survive the screechy opening and the animalic middle notes, you may be really positively surprised! Oh, and of course sentiment plays a huge role here!;)
