The Mad Hatter

Company info: Beautiful packaging! Storytelling, childhood nostalgia, whimsical like vibes, great quality oils, USA made, 100% recyclable which is fantastic! And NEVER animal tested. The scent: Omg! This one is my favorite, out of this whole line. It's very nice! It reminds me of side effects/absolute aphrodisiac(made sweeter & creamier). I def get the cognac but it's not overbearing or too alcoholic, leather(also not overbearing, it's well blended & a soft leather), some brewed tea(adding a light sweetness to the mix, but a natural like sweetness), and over that soft leather & expensive top shelf cognac I get a sweet crunchy toffee, with milk poured over it. Sounds weird, is weird...but also surprisingly addictive & unique! I rate this a 8.7/10. This scent family is my favorite, so that explains why I'm so drawn to this fragrance. And the fact this leans unisex really drives me crazy(in a good way)! This is so good. And def unisex straight down the middle, not leaning fem or masculine. When I closed my eyes & guessed the notes B4 reading them, my guesses were: Raspberry, wine, leather, lactic notes, vanilla, & musk. May get a FB of this one! If you like this scent family like myself PLEASEEE just test it out! And again I repeat...every single one of these are not blind buy safe no matter how much you like the notes. Trust me! It will be a love or hate type thing b/c these do have a niche twist to them imo. They have a VERY affordable & well sized discovery kit, that you can get like 4-6 wears out of each sample. The ones I thought would be my least fav, turned out to by my actual favorites. My favs in order: 1) Mad Hatter(strongest scent, most unique, yummy, seductive, unisex scent) 2) The Cursed Apple(super unique, sweet apple, bitter poison, addictive scent) 3) Winnie the Pooh 4) The Jungle Book 5) Hansel & Gretel 6) Pinocchio(a really good santal 33 like dupe with no pickle, well done, unisex, and a love) 7) Little Mermaid(Soapy, powdery, aquatic, floral, freshy) Loving this collection more & more! i actually didn’t like this at first for some reason because i might have gone nose blind with a few other potent samples but i love it now that ive revisited it after some time. the sweet gourmand aspect to it is perfectly subdued by the warmth of the tea, leather, liquor, and saffron. this literally smells like tea and crumpets on a picnic accompanied by some hallucinations and kooky events. i think the leather and liquor is meant to encapsulate the concept of a mad hatter, though not at all menacing. there’s a nice body to this that i really enjoy and i think makes this very notably spring day... confused on the winter evening association outside of the booze....? think outside of the box a bit people. safe unisex blind buy whether you’re trying to embody alice or one of her fun friends.

I’m completely obsessed with this perfume. The boozy opening and the leather dry down are nice, but there is more complexity to this. I love the way I get the sweetness of the toffee and the condensed milk, it’s like creamy and cozy. There’s just something in it that makes me keep sniffing it all day. I’m sensitive to fragrances, both reactive airways and headaches and this doesn’t cause either, it’s a safe fragrance for me. All of the mischief academy except The Little Mermaid which isn’t a surprise because most lilac and aqua notes are triggers for me.

This brand is so much fun, from the whole collection this one stood out for me, it has such presence and power (and staying power!). it opens up very boozy and sweet, but don't be scared of the sweetness because the bitter tea note and woody/leather stops it from be cloyingly sweet. Very good for the fall/winter and when you want to feel a bit whimsical and playful. Very surprised by this house - the fragrances feels very qualitative. Key words for this fragrance: fun, mysterious, magnetic.

This makes me feel I am the older woman in a toxic yuri agegap relationship... like I'm 27 and I wear sick leather jackets yet retain a softness. I mainly get toffee, tea, leather, and apples from this, but I also have never smelt rum so that might be affecting my view. I will say the packaging and cute motifs did heavily influence me to buy this,,, but I do love smelling like a sweet yet spicy leather jacket wearing older woman.

An extremely boozy and sweet milky scent with a heavy hand of toffee. There’s a touch of leather that adds depth and body, some smoked black tea in the mid of the wear, and a savory buttery creaminess that really ties it all together. It’s definitely indulgent with the sweetness and the booze which feels fitting for the Mad Hatter, I think the tea is a nice fresh touch and the leather is a cheeky addition. A really fun gourmand

This is chaotic in a good way. The notes appear and disappear which is quite interesting. I just wish the ambroxan was a bit less present.

This one is my favorite from the set! Every time I sniff it, I smell something different :) definitely fits the mad hatter theme

It’s a nice sweet fragrance with a touch of booziness.

Boozy, rich rum and cognac in the opening, with a lingering sweet scent of caramel. As it dries down the toffee remains dominant, but surrounding it are now tea and a sweet, buttery accord. The saffron and leather linger and add a unique, unsusual quality to the story Really pleasant and one of my favourite scents I’ve tried that paint the picture of Mad Hatter’s tea parties. The longevity and projection are also pretty good, at least on my skin

Close to Side effect's scent profile but has a toned down alcohol and a stong butter and lactonic accord that for me , heavy clashes with the leather . Not blind buy safe. Hard "use" opportunities.

Sigh.. the opening of this scent was so fun, liquor mixed with a cozy milky note. Then it quickly dries down to this very harsh and synthetic leathery fume. Would not wear this unfortunately.

Support artists, don't buy AI. there are other fragrance houses that actually pay designers and artists while being cheaper than $120 per bottle. When given the chance to make inspired designs for a fairytale-themed fragrance Mischief decides not to. It isn't even a matter of "what they can afford" because they released SEVEN scents at once while also having the money to aggressively advertise on social media with fragrance influencers. This just screams anti-art to me.

Something about this fragrance really offends me. I don’t know if there is hidden sandalwood in here but sandalwood tends to not play nicely with my skin and take over everything and smell like 💩. And that’s what this smells like on my skin. It smelled more interesting on paper.

Overly sweet milky scent—so sweet that it has a burnt plastic-like chemical smell. The base notes remain excessively sweet, making me sneeze... The most unpleasant one in this series.

Smells like new car. I get nothing but new car leather.

I don’t think any other fragrance captures the essence of the character as well as this one. The Mad Hatter is truly crazy, unique, and powerful. It is by far the most powerful fragrance of the line. The sweetness matched with the intensity of the amber is quite akin to something made for the Middle Eastern market, yet I would say more elegant. There is a smoothness and care in the fragrance which you don’t really find in Middle Eastern lines. The boozy note is refined and despite the high intensity of the rest of the fragrance, it still holds up and adds to the melody. There is also a spicy cumin note that pops out near the end makes everything a bit more human, sweaty, and realistic. It has a certain density that is hard to describe in words and keeps me coming back for more. Addictive and truly mad, like the man himself!

Similar to the mentally disorganized Mad Hatter character, this scent is simultaneously all over the place. It’s pretty divisive but I’m down with MH’s seemingly disparate notes morph into beautiful chaos. The initial brown booze is sweetened by the condensed milk. The leather note masculinizes this from being a “too-sweet, girly” gourmand. The butter makes the saffron more “edible,” but the black tea grounds MH from going cloyingly sweet. This fragrance is seriously a wild ride. Is it a safe blind buy? Absolutely not. Is it a safe blind buy for people who love each note? No. Please sample before buying a full bottle.

I won the discovery set when they did a giveaway, and I just got around to sampling everything. I typically dislike toffee scents and leather scents, so I was really expecting to dislike this. But it's not as bad as I was expecting. I wouldn't wear it, but I wouldn't hate if my boyfriend did, and I normally hate when he wears fragrances with leather notes. I feel like the butter and milky notes kind of balance out the leather. It's quite sweet as well. If you're looking for a heavy gourmand with a leather note, this could be for you - it's just really not my thing. It's fun to smell though.

The opening immediately brings to mind Hedonist by Viktoria Minya. I remember disliking the rum note in Hedonist, yet the rum in The Mad Hatter doesn’t bother me nearly as much. Despite its arguably statement-making scent profile, the Mad Hatter is surprisingly wearable—so much so that I’d say it’s even easier to wear than Winnie the Pooh, the fragrance that originally prompted me to purchase the discovery set. I don't find this to be super intense or strong as some point out.
