Hana

I was introduced to this amazing fragrance in Les Absolues- a beautiful perfumery in Geneva yesterday. The owner Olga had as expected a lot of passion for high quality fragrances and I took advantage of her skills and ended up falling in love with Hana. Miya Shinma had done it so right. Such a fine fragrance which pays homage to Chanel No5 yet smells very modern, young and fresh sans Aldehydes. At first I felt that I had actually sniffed No 5 but a few minutes later the the Ylang Ylang gives way to a Rose- a soapy rose and with a soft finish. A few minutes later a delicate musk starts appearing. I just could not stop sniffing my wrists and whilst i love No5, Hana is not as heavy and is truly calming. I know I will end up using it quite a lot in the next few days and hence will be purchasing another! Loving every sniff of it. Edit: Was in Paris last weekend (18/11/22) and so happy to meet the amazing Miya Shinma and get another bottle of Hana as well as falling in love with Kimono Sakura. Miya is such a wonderful person with a passion so visible in what she creates.

(After a poem by Onono Komachi, Hyakunin Isshu anthology)” via Hana is the Perfumer’s impression of the poem above - “Symbol of fragility and beauty. An elegant bouquet of jasmine and rose.” To me Hana is the most “French” perfume out of her collection because from the first sniff it reminded me of Chanel No5. Discovering it, was another reason to be impressed with Miya Shinma Parfums’ diverse offerings. Hana does share some of the promiment notes with Chanel No 5 such as rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, patchouli, iris but the interesting thing is that, it doesnt have any aldehydes at all. I could swear it had aldehyde in it. The soapy, sparkling, clean feeling that aldehydes evoke is still very present in Hana. Incredibly airy, transparent, clean fragrance that settles into feminine, powdery, floral scent. Elegant and classic, Hana could very well represent Ms. Miya Shinma herself, very ladylike and polite French tought Japanese perfumer. If you find Chanel No 5 to be a little too heavy for you, I’d recommend trying Hana- the Symbol of Fragility and Beauty!

It's a light scent like the rest of this collection. Powdery, even dusty, clean like a white sheet, with a red flower in its center, and it's not rose (I smell the rose very clearly, oily almost sultry, but here it plays another role for me), it is a red poppy, with subtle thin blossoms and dusty fragrance. I smell several layers in this composition at the same time, a flower you are watching with admiration, everything around is unimportant and doen't exist. Such a visual association I have, and also I feel total silence in it.

Water ylang, & soapy lotus. It's pink, it's like a soapy lotus with water ylang on top of white musk, and soap base. I keep on sniffing heliotrope & slight sandalwood. I kind of smell some soapy roses as well which is quite amusing rather than sharp. I liked this one when i first sniffed it as it has that doses of ylang, lotus, heliotrope, and water. Amusing.
