Cologne du Maté

This is one of my favourite 'freshies' for summer. It opens up with a blast of a freshly peeled mandarin orange - zesty, juicy, simply delicious. Shortly thereafter I get a dry, aromatic mate note, which is blended perfectly with tangy tangerine. The Paradisone® (jasmine) - "fresh as a waterfall" - adds a bit of sweetness to the fragrance and prevents it from becoming too bitter. I also pick up a subtle note of sage in the background. After a few hours Cologne du Maté dries down into a warm woody base. The scent is round, well-blended & very natural smelling. It is an uplifting, versatile & easy-going fragrance. Some people may find it masculine leaning, to me it's 100% unisex. The longevity on my skin is good (about 6h), however the scent doesn't project much...

Zesty, effervescent tangerine with noticeable aquatic (but not salty) notes. Mate isn't that noticeable on my skin, but it provides a slightly dry, herbal backdrop to the freshness of the citric-aquatic-floral accord. I think I get some aliphatic aldehydes as well. Dries down into an ambergris-woody base. A good warm weather fragrance.

This is slept on. It is what I call a beautiful smelling fragrance, simple as that. It's clean, soft, non intrusive, it is class. It is not loud or in your face. It doesn have to be. My favourite spring-summer perfume on par with Original Vetiver by Creed.

Subtly masculine, citrussy and herbal but just a touch. Very polite, not overwhelming in any way. Stays on skin well. I think the value here, as opposed to the many similar cheaper scents in this genre is that it is neither overly locker-room, nor overly herbal, nor reminiscent of cleaning products. It's just very well rounded, subtle, masculine but not overwhelmingly, decent silage and staying power. A citrus fragrance that opens with orange and mandarin. As it dries down, mate and woody nuances become more noticeable, giving the composition a smoother and somewhat creamier texture. I found it pleasant, but not particularly distinctive. That has been my overall experience with this house. While I appreciate the compositions, I don't really feel the need to explore them further. Gingembre and Vert Empire remain my favourites, although neither was enough to warrant a purchase.
