L'Ombre du Lys

Everthing I smelled in the Mizensir store was beautiful and of very high quality. L'ombre du Lys is clean and fresh but in a non soapy way. Very stylish but not to moderate. It's like enyoing a glas of great white wine served in a crystal glas while sitting in the shadow of a sycamore tree on a nice cobblestoned terrace in sunny France. I also own White Neroli both fresh and slightly sweet but this one is a bit more crisp than round. Realy hope to visit Geneva again, just for visiting the store....love!

Despite the name, L'Ombre du Lys is a rather elegant and gorgeous white floral scent - without the spiciness often associated with lily. It opens up with the dewy freshness of freshly plucked orange blossom, droplets glistening under the morning sun rays. As it dries down, the sweetness of the tuberose shines through, adding some richness and depth to the scent. A touch of indole gives some complexity, dirtiness, and realism to the floral notes, yet the hefty dose of Hedione lifts the fragrance and keeps the wearer from smelling like a walking florist's. Bright, effervescent, and elegant is how I would describe it; it reminds me of Diptyque's Do Son, but is much lighter on the aquatic notes - it's less impressionistic and abstract, and is richer in comparison. It's a pretty personal fragrance, and it stays pretty close to the skin throughout its lifetime. Despite that, it's really uplifting and I think it's something that I think I'd wear for myself as a mood booster!

Discreet, clean, powdery floral. I can see the idea, how to create a lily without it being overwhelming. L'Ombre is like a general fresh floral tuned towards lily. The base is clean musk and powdery wood. Like all Mizensir creations this smells quite synthetic too. This is like the scent of a grown up woman in the 1990's who is elegant but does not shop from the big expensive brands (I am trying to say nice & cheap!). I am driving myself crazy wanting to buy it because it is simply too expensive for what it is and it doesn't last very well.

a 'soapy' drydown in this fragrance which, in my opinion, goes in conflict with the other scents and spoils the whole perfume (it smells kinda cheap). Sorry, not a fan of this. 6/10

MIZENSIR. L'Ombre du Lys now this is a beautiful perfume which I already smelled through the box. the package too is so chic and extraordinary. the flacon is a masterpiece of demureness yet giving the phenomenon 'perfume' a new hauteté. the price is hefty: 100ml., or else 3.3 fl.oz., € 190. but until now every perfume of Albero Morillas, who founded this 'house', his own creation, is worth every penny. Rose Exaltante is truly another rose-centered masterpiece with such refined Rose slightly compromised by Morillas' deft use of Oud. Poudre d'Or an exceptionally full and at the same time refined perfume of Iris. I guess 'refinement' would be the perfect moniker for Morillas' creations. “Chaque Fragrance doit avoir une âme, une histoire et délivrer une emotion.” (Each fragrance must have a soul, a story and deliver emotion.) Alberto grew up in Northern Spain and his favorite note is neroli, orangeblossom. here it is also abundantly used to mimick the scent of a Lily because the Lily is a 'fleur muette'. no method of extraction (maceration, distillation, drying) will ever produce the perfumes of these (often white) flowers (violet, Iris itself i.e. the flower, hyacinth, privet/ligustrum, gardenia, lily of the valley). so a veritable Master Perfumer/euse shall tiptoe around the desired flower and mimicks its scent with, often closely related, other flowers. when I read about this phenomenon I saw the Rose was very often used as supportive flower because of its depth and facettuousness. here I smell a soft Lily, somewhat of a Gingerlily, hence the 'shadow of a Lily'. Alberto also taught me to appreciate synthetic muscs because I belong to half of the populace unable to smell synthetic muscs. so the whole highly venerated line (also beautifully set in fabulous flacons) of Narciso Rodrigues' 'Musc' goes beyond me. often I walked with a blotter smelling nothing and after five minutes, nothing. yet what Morillas seems able to do better than others is to let the synthetic musc ride with the real fleurerie and thus, create full perfumes. Hedione®, Exaltone®, Paradisone®, Muscenone® really densified these perfumes in totally convincing manner. it was the revelation for me to discover these muscs really were sensible. 'l'Ombre du Lys' gives a rich, truly sophisticated perfume clinging like an expensive shawl around the parfumista. I love the Lys (Lily).

Fresh airy scent, pure spring! Extremely elegant creations that only great noses can create, make us experience, instilling wonderful sensations in us, as soon as I sprayed I feel a fresh clean smell, a symphony of notes that expertly recreate the smell of the lily, a pure white lily, fresh and slightly soapy, at first sparkling then more soapy, if I had to give a color to this perfume it is without a shadow of a doubt white, Immaculate white! I wear it willingly in this period (September) but it is certainly a must-have for all seasons, perhaps only in summer with the scorching heat it would be better to avoid, perhaps for evenings yes, simply because as it warms up on the skin it becomes a quite intense white floral, the fil rouge that in my opinion all Mizensir have in common is a very pronounced musky base, in fact this too is in the finish... I love much of this line created by Morillas, very elegant
