Héliotrope

There is a nice modern-vintage feel in this fragrance, unique and calming, has a therapeutic effect on me, especially after tiring night shifts. Almondy-powdery, not very sweet retro-type of smell, nostalgic even, like a posh body talcum. It is persistent, yet not in your face powder puff. There is something reassuring in it, something a little bit of "diva peignoir", beautiful! I wear it when I want to smell natural perfume-y, like a sensual-clean--petal dust on top of your own skin. Went from like to love within few months.

Soapy Powder Bomb - LOVE it. Clean and pretty. Careful not to overspray - she is so soft but she is strong. Yes it does have a vintage vibe but that is due to the powdery essence. It is very pretty. Great for those days you just want to smell fresh, clean and pretty.

This opens so nice and clean on me. I understand why some of you say it leans vintage, but this is more on the pleasant side. This is how I imagine premium soap would smell long after being used. I would see this as a white shirt elegant fragrance.

I blind bought this for a good price and read all the reviews about this being soapy, and I normally gravitates to fragrances that are described as “soapy”, “powdery” (or mature) and normally I always think that it’s not actually that soapy or powdery (being on a hunt for the perfect bedtime-scent) when I smell them. But OMG this actually IS that soapy! I tested it right after a shower and it smells so similar to the scent that lingers on skin after being freshly washed with soap. I’m happy with this as I was looking for something really soapy and comforting for bedtime but it’s not anything I’m going to wear out in public, just when I’m hanging out in my own comfort- bubble. I just have to ad that people find this similar to L'Heure Blue, I have to disagree. L'Heure Blue Is more dense powdary and sweeter. This is like straight up soap, love them both for different reasons.

I love heliotrope as a note, this isn’t really a typical heliotrope though. The combo of that, iris and neroli smells like a Dove soap bar once it’s had a little bit of dry down time, with touch of l’heure bleu iris feel involved. If I had to guess blind what the brand was, Prada would first come to mind with their clean soapy Infusion range. If you want to smell super clean like a soapy lotion, this a good fragrance for the collection at a pretty cheap price.

@ framorena You could give them a second chance. Compared to new 2017'formulas of Chanel, Guerlain or Dior, Molinard offers good performances. I tried Chypre Charnel and Ambré Lumière and I own Habanita both EDP and Cologne, Cuir, Patchouli Intense and plan to buy more.

This reminded me of YSL Rive Gauche. Saw that they share lots of similar notes. Heliotrope is a bit more powdery and has this certain "play-doh" note (still subtle though) which I guess is due to the heliotrope note?

I expected Heliotrope to be soft and powdery, but it is rather intense and soapy! Still very pleasant just not what I have expected.

Intense and soapy, as bel.gravia said. And if people say that Chanel No 5 smells soapy, they should test Heliotrope by Molinard ... It's a dislike for me and I'm glad I didn't followed my desire to go for a blind - buy when I saw it at a super affordable price in the fragrantica forum version for my country.

The most disappointing Heliotrope I've smelled. I have FB's of Heliotrope by Etro, Piver and Reminiscence and thought I needed this for my collection. Finally got a sample of the Molinard and this ain't it y'all. No Heliotrope here, this is chock full of vintage aldehydes, a' la Chanel No 5, and heavy musk. There's a smidge of Iris, the only thing floral or sweet I can discern. It's also very weak, disappeared from my skin in an hour. If you love Heliotrope, test this first. Edit: I gave this one more try and it was even worse the second time. The aldehydes are too sour for me and it's going soapy. The rose is more apparent too. Im finally smelling the slightest hint of Heliotrope but it's not the almond type, more like powdered soap. Just too vintage for my tastes and I really like L'heure Bleu.

The vintage heliotrope that smells almondy, but also recalls lipstick and cigarettes, in the sens that it is less sweet and more leathery-powdery: this could easily be a sketch of Habanita, with some Chanel No 5 notes and some vintage heliotrope powders. Very abstract and naughty, all the way. To the difference of the other heliotrope perfumes, this smells less cherry-like and also less round as like L'Heure Bleue. The drydown is really soapy, but not in a bad way. This perfume is really worth investigating. Not to mention that the packaging is out of this world (despite of the pink botle), the lasting power is really good ( don't imagine something like Angel).

I had the original heliotrope by molinard in the 90s. Blue bottle. This is quite similar especially in the center of the evolution, were it smells rose and soapy and actually reminds me the smell of Nivea blue metal box classic cream. But this is more bitter almond like at the end. Very elegant and peaceful.

I am blessed with 8 bottles of Molinard, and I love all but this one. Too old school (think L'Heure Blue.) Will trade for another Molinard or Miller Harris. Realized I don't like this when I sniff my hand, but I do like the waft of scent from my shirt. Weird.

Wonderful and new approach on heliotrope. Don’t expect this to smell mainstrean. Has nothing in common with Chanel 5 and with no fragrance I came across so far. Good longevity and sillage

Smells exactly like a heated skin out of the bathroom. A mix of soap, steam and powder. To me it is very refreshing.
