Molinard de Molinard

When Rose Centifolia and Jasmine Grandiflorum marry it is always a success, especially when accompanied by thoughtfully invited guests! After cheerfull festivites and loud celebration everything settles down to a heartbreakingly tender and beautifull scene. Serenity and high spirits. The composition is like a whiff of Linden blossoms in july when you a lucky enough to walk through an alley of linden trees, always charming, every time surprizing gentle quality of the scent, leaving wanting more, searching for it again and again. I absolutely love a wellblended perfume creation, round and evocative when you can not quite put a finger on one or the other component but have the pleasure to enjoy the effect of it all, be mesmerized by the music of it. Molinard de Molinard is exactly like it and I wonder if I would love it even more as EDP.

I ́ve just bought this fragrance and I must say that I really love it. It ́s beautiful not modern in a sweet artificial way. It reminds classical galbanum fragrances which I prefer and adore. The only problem is the sillage and longevity which are actually quite poor. Even after generous application you have problem to feel it and after two hours I can ́t feel it even on my clothes and that ́s a real pitty.

I've just reconnected with Molinard de Molinard (2017) and, frankly, it's just as lovely as the original (1979). Perhaps a little less potent and harsh, which I appreciate. I recommand it for men, as it is 100% unisex nowadays. The marigold gives originality to the fragrance. I have the same feeling when smelling the tagetes in Jean Patou Joy Forever EDP, but the result is more musky-floral.

As a consummate vintage perfume lover, it is not very often that I can joyously declare that a new edition of a fragrance smells very similar and is possibly just as lovely as the original! In the case of this Molinard de Molinard circa 2017, I can honestly say that upon spraying it I was taken back in time and it was a very lovely experience. The verdant burst of galbanum and spicy tagetes along with the Springtime loveliness of narcissus is not only unique but gorgeous! These notes are then intricately woven into a floral, fruity, warm and sultry tapestry of ever changing moods, all the while enchanting and captivating. This is a true gem priced for anyone's pocketbook! Not for the gourmand set nor for anyone who thinks a perfume should cost a fortune to be exquisite!

Ok this is a lovely green floral but has absolutely abysmal staying power. It barely registered on my skin after a few minutes, and also faded from clothing within the hour. I was stunned. It’s not too expensive but performance at that level is quite unacceptable. I can barely give a competent review because I feel as soon as I try to analyse the scent it disappears from my skin. What a disappointment.

I’m going to have to try this out as soon as possible after finding out this was Prince’s signature scent.
