Re-charge Black Pepper

Re-Charge Black Pepper. This fragrance for me is the very definition of a slow-burn affair. Opens out of bottle with an assertive punch of black pepper approaching loud or brash, even. My nose receives it on the macho side of masculine. While I do adore black pepper this challenged me in a way as I generally tend to like pleasant masculine scents with less slugging power. What makes this ultimately loveable is the immediate bright lemon zest sat atop the serious and sober black pepper. Is more of a tangy, dried lemon peel citrus with some real slap to it, just the way I like... None of that sugar-sweet syrupy cheesecake stuff in here, really, but somewhere in the open there is a creamy some thing softening the hard edges. Directly beneath the black pepper lies a wonderful and charming herbal Nutmeg tone, which nearly lands this in the dreadlock'd hippie-vendor camp (something I'm not averse to) but maybe hippy camp isn't quite it. I feel an upscale Town&Country vibe moreso. Calm, individualistic and revealing a natural charisma. Despite the initial pungency this opens in such a beguiling way that I can't stop smelling it. Black pepper remains visible throughout but falls deeper into the wings. The spicy-herbal Nutmeg woodiness takes front center but it's now playing with a creamy white floral of sorts. I'd call it barbershop-adjacent but more spiced, and it's great. There's a semi-sweet powder scent beneath it all, but is dignified and far from teenaged. The final dry it's so beautiful and elegant, I just love it. So classic. The spicy-herbal-woodsy notes retreat and give way to that creamy, silky something I'd been picking up on. There's a sensuous intimacy happening here with the clean white musk swimming in and out of the ambers all while the spiced woodiness still presents itself. It's kind of sexual, but it's polite. One interesting thing as time goes on, this presence of salted smoke tones reminiscent of clarified butter being browned a little too long, probably the Vetiver (in hiding to my nose) playing with the ambers. Lastly an earthy smoked-vanilla pronunciation, not unlike the trail of good burned pipe tobacco after a male relative several decades ago. Summary: A very striking yet calm, warm and comforting fragrance. I haven't smelled 25,000 different ones just yet but this truly feels unique to me. I'd call it a cold weather scent (my favorites usually are) but where I live, I do wear it 3 seasons out of the year, excepting only the very hot/humid summers. An absolute must-smell for fans of Black pepper, Nutmeg, and not particularly "dark green" nor "pitch black" masculine scents. I've been wearing it for 10yrs now and can't imagine myself not having a bottle of this stuff ever again.

Do not buy this because it has "black pepper" in its name. My mistake. It should be called Reduct not Re-charge. It is not a pepper bomb. Mildly spicy, at best. It is pleasant enough, though it kind of goes powdery on me within minutes. Longevity and sillage are just okay and it's really hard to come by in the US at a reasonable price. My only real Mack Daddy pepper bomb is Blackpepper by Comme des Garcons, with Montale's Intense Pepper coming in second. Best wishes on your search! [UPDATE: Darned if I don't now really like this fragrance! It has a mild peppery sophistication to it that is upscale and regal. My wife gave me the body wash for Christmas, I have several bars of soap, and I recently scored the deodorant stick for a very good price. So, needless to say, I'm all in.]

Got a small bottle of this in an Advent calendar this year (!!) and it's exactly my sort of thing. Starts off very bitter and pungent, straight-up aping black pepper IRL. It's super masculine, but definitely wearable by a woman too: it's peppy, interesting and relaxed and does mellow out/sweeten a bit as it dries down (though I kind of like the unique fresh spicebomb at its beginning). Keep an eye on eBay if you like its concept, since people will likely be selling bigger-than-sample-size bottles very soon.

This fragrance has two stages - the opening which has lots of pepper, fairly strong sillage, and lasts about 10-15 minutes; and the drydown which is very mild and warm, powdery-woody-sweet, with weak sillage and lingers on the clothes for a long time, all the while not decaying into anything unpleasant or synthetic-smelling like so many other (even quite expensive) fragrances do. Overall, this would be an absolutely great fragrance if the opening lasted longer and the drydown had better sillage.

Do not buy this if you think this smells like the handwash. I did and I am very disappointed. The handwash is rich and much sweeter and spicier, it smells like a perfume. And the perfume smells like cheap hand soap. Completely twisted and a huge fail. If they could have done the handwash scent justice with decent performance it would have been a total banger. Is the EDP the same waste of money? I dare not buy it now.

So fresh and awakening. Honestly I was expecting something different with the notes above but this smells exactly like Crabtree and Evelyn's - West Indian Lime cologne / soaps. To me this is what positivity and a well dressed person smells like. I can feel a soft lime develop after the woody spicy note hits. I am a woman and this suits me perfectly.

Blindbought this because i liked a couple other scents from MB, and i am not dissapointed this is a great scent. Re charge pepper is just what the name indicates it start of with a pepper lemon note, that quickly develops into the middlenotes and then there is the drydown that is beautiful.

It's a lemon peppery opening. The ginger is very faint (which is nice). It's a really nice almost sweet spicyness to it. The coriander is there but I don't smell the basil much if at all. The vetiver isn't overwhelming at all, which is a pleasant surprise, as it usually takes over fragrances imo. I don't get ambergris at all, which is probably a good thing. This is definitely a winter scent and is very pleasant, but at the same time it smells like an expensive/high-end soap. I'd wear this again.

This is a very interesting fragrance, not usually what I'm attracted to. The open is a nice pepper with a hint of lemon, that quickly settles into coriander-basil notes in the middle. To my nose there's more coriander than pepper in this, but it's still a very pleasant fragrance. Longevity is average, I get around 3-4 hours. However, this is a skin scent on me.

This really reminds me of a masculine version of the discontinued but sorely missed Chloé Love... That one didn't have black pepper but pink pepper was the star of the show. And it had a similar tart, tangy but slightly sweet profile with some powderiness to make it all cozy. In my mind these two are husband and wife fragrances...

Blackpepper re-charge does stand out from the crowd. It is very masculine and quite spicy. If you like pepper, it is worth a try. It is different in a way that renders it interesting, but is far away from being a love. 7/10 PS: the shampoo is leagues above

If you want black pepper, this is the scent for you. If you don't like black pepper, this is deadly

One spray and suddenly I’m transported to a world of freshly shaved jawlines and crisp white shirts. The opening hits like pepper that’s been to a motivational seminar. It’s spicy, it’s energetic, it’s aggressively enthusiastic - the fragrance equivalent of someone clapping their hands and saying “Let’s smash this day!” at 7am. Then the citrus shows up. Not soft citrus. Not gentle citrus. This is citrus with a gym membership. It’s bright, sharp, and slightly smug, like it drinks protein shakes for fun. As it settles, the woods come in with a very serious expression, like they’re about to explain the difference between “whisky” and “whiskey.” They’re dry, they’re warm, and they absolutely own a leather wallet that’s older than you. The drydown? Imagine pepper, woods, and citrus all trying to be the alpha note. No one wins. They just stand around looking masculine. It’s charming. It’s clean, it's spicy. It’s the perfume equivalent of a man who always smells good but never knows why.

Accurate black pepper with a touch of ginger. Not bad at all, if you love black pepper. Seems a bit bland or meh when compared to their Fiery Pink Pepper offering. Still quite good, but not my thing.

This one has a very interesting opening, very strong black pepper with lemon - it’s something different, but very pretty. Unfortunately after about 10 minutes, the interesting opening disappears and turns into dry wooden notes. Which is something my nose can’t stand. 🤷🏼♀️ On a side note, it has a great longevity.

This smells like something i would clean my windows with! HARD PASS

Who thought this smells like ELIXIR DES MERVEILLES?? There's no sweetness in this at all n there's like maybe a single woody facet in common. Voyage makes slightly more sense but this is the bare bones of it, a desiccation. This v dry wood, the pepper on top makes it interesting for a little while but then it's just dry wood. Could be called Kindling instead but it won't exactly set the world on fire. Slowly turns into shaving cream as it dries as well btw. Wish it stayed how it starts, that is it's most interesting feature. Not into mild mannered barbershop.

on me this is a warm spice bomb fragrance dry aromatic, citrus, spices, on a light mossy wood base update: just wore this again after a year... the spices, basil, & citrus are the most prominent notes to my nose ... it is more of a warm spicy fragrance so think autumn, winter, & early spring before it warms up. It smells like an amplified version of the body wash. The dry down after 5+ hours is warm salty ambroxan with soft citrus and spice.

Spring Scent 6/10 Opens with a blast of citrus mixed with pepper, smells fresh in the opening and a little bit spicy. In the drydown gets a bit more woody. Performance is poor, it's an okay everyday scent though, not offensive, smells a bit like hand soap. Silage 3/10 Longevity 3/10

How do i say what it smells like... Pepper, Literally smells like just pepper the opening is a bit floral then dries down to just pepper. Was my Grandpas favorite smell so i wear it with pride, Lasts 3-4 hours as expected for EDT Timeless classic smell of pepper, Solid choice.
