Rogart

Sophisticated and heartfelt. I definitely place this beautiful perfume into niche category with remark that it does not induce the feeling of "exotic" by any means. It is very gentle - and I believe that what makes it an absolute unisex. It is gently sweet and disarming like the smile of a woman.. it is natural and relaxing as the company of a gentle-man.. there is something modest and confident same time. It is like a walk in a forest in golden autumn, when the air is cool but not cold, and the colors are warm and uplifting but with that philosophical touch of melancholy in autumn, and there is (maybe?) a campfire somewhere or someone started a chimney in house far-far-away?.. It is definitely not a night club perfume, and it doesn't "compete". Nevertheless it gives feeling of integrity and will complete an experience of going to theater, museum, of a meaningful conversation.. it is for that heart-seaking date, not "booty-call".. it is for getting away to a forest-lake cabin, not casino vacation. I completely agree with review of Bufshuf (please see below) on olfactory adjustment with this perfume. I still regret merciless use of this discontinued treasure when I traveled Canada.. I thought it was too unnoticeable, or that my skin was "hiding" it in cold weather, so I was reapplying and reapplying.. silly me - my coat and scarf were radiating this beautiful aroma for several months(!) (I am not exaggerating), after I returned.. every time I open my closet - it would stop me in my tracks. I also shall say - over years I met only few perfumes of such outstanding quality. I will agree to pay whichever they ask after experiencing Rogart - Molton Brown earned a deep bow from me. And I envy DoraRoxx :) (review below). This one easy to grade: 10 out of 10 on all categories. Thank you.

I adore this fragrance because it plugs into a primal need I have for baby sweet, soft fragrances which serve to calm as much as serve any other purpose. This doesn't mean that Rogart is devoid of sophistication because it's very grown up in it's approach. It's the softness and comfort I like about it and perhaps even bordering on the more feminine. The opening is really sweet, I don't know about Juniper berries (which I find quite bitter) Rogart is more like a synthetic blend of fruity berries just for that initial minute or so. Then it becomes clear what this fragrance is all about and it's creamy, woods. The unmistakable signature sweetness of maple is a welcome addition to this fragrance and works perfectly with guaiac wood, it really is a marriage made in heaven. Along with angelica and what I perceive as vanilla, these are the major players throughout the heart of Rogart and long into the drydown. Elemi is listed as the resin in here but I honestly think this comes off warmer and more of a benzoin/amber type smell as it settles out too. This is very interesting and rewarding fragrance, who's creamy woods is reminiscent of very high quality Guaiac and sandalwood fragrances. The main ones Rogart reminds me of is Donna Karen Fuel and Atelier Cologne Santal Carmin. I've worn this a few times since I purchased it earlier this year and I have to say the performance and silage seemed average. However, today I've been complimented on it, told 'your dog smells of your perfume...it's very nice' (obviously rubbed off when cuddling him) and I can noticibly smell it quite strongly on myself. This is due to a heavy application and is often (not always) the answer to a weaker performing fragrance...spray more! Another great from Molton Brown.

Very FRESH woodiness, till pepperness, but you will not find here cucumber-like undertones, which is great, I can not say it smells like fir balsam though, but it does smell like maple leaf/syrup with guaiac. On the box of Rogart you can read: The New World is calling. A juxtaposition of continental ice and heat, civilisation, wilderness and the shifting seasons. A forest clearing: a log-built sugarshack bubbling and smoking with scents of maple. Spring saps rise as touches of crystallised cranberry are threaded with red angelica, spiced elemi and oozing Canadian firwood balsam. Very good idea with Navigations Through Scent, where each of the fragrance representing one location along the ancient spice route: Egypt, China, Indonesia, England and Canada. Intellectually intriguing and so clever from marketing point of view.

This is my second review here. I can tell I have tried a lot of parfum in my young life of 30 now. Also I worked in a sensory lab for a short time and my nose is mostly very sensitive to some smells and odors. I bought Molton Brown ROGART in Hamburg for 87€ after testing this and the 4 others from NAVIGATIONS THROUGH SCENT Series Fragrances.The best and more male scent was ROGART.Fantastic,rarely composition of a fresh wood Scent.Opening with citrus, green notes of a forest in canada and after one hours it leaves into a honey,balsam,woody ending.Warm and tender as for cold winter made. A must when you want to be individual, cause there is no other comparable fragrance I know. It has a good longevity and deserves a try.
