Rose Concrete

A heady fruity rose accord on a base of crystalised honey/ saffron/ pistachio and cardamom. I emphasized the word crystalised as evokes a hardened and crumbly texture to my nose, almost like bitten down manuka honey hard candy. The saffron lends a cold effect and I guess could suggest concrete or a stone room? Both the nuttiness of pistachio and green pungentness of cardamom adds a middle eastern flair, almost like a good kulfi. Longevity is tremendous and projection is consistently decent - I'm often aware of its presence on me. It does occasionally irritate my nose so I guess there must be some powerhouse synthetics employed to help with the consistent projection from this potion. Although I enjoy my sample, the Alinea collection line are just severely overpriced at 390 euro for 50ml (unless you don't mind paying the luxury tax). Not recommended for that reason but do sample if if you can your way to their HQ in Amsterdam. Its still a beautiful piece of work from Fredrik Dalman. As an alternative, I suggest trying their mainline Rose Etoile de Hollande. Its not quite as opulent as Rose Concrete but it is somewhat similar, and retains its richness quite well on fabric. Back to Rose Concrete, it doesn't really have the Mona di Orio DNA to me but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm excited by what Fredrik Dalman has to offer chiaroscuro or not.

Ok i do LIKE this smell, but its character doesnt match up with the price for me. On first open its very, very bright and juicy rose... almost plummy, sweet. Then it dries down to a pretty powdery rose-amber. Its nice and spicy but honestly doesnt smell like the money its priced. At first it reminded me of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose, which isnt a bad thing but that perfume is like $50 maybe and is discontinued. I got the sample from Lucky Scent because I was curious in comparing scents to ROSE 31 be Le Labo. Cant say I'd recommend this to the average person, though I'm sure they werent considering it anyway, lol. Could see this being the signature scent of some hipster billionaire mom that uses essential oils and gardens and goes to copenhagen fashion week.

A very rose-like fragrance that has a warm touch of skin, nuts and soil to it, as with many of MdO’s perfumes. This takes away some of the brightness of the rose, which prevents it from becoming a generic rose perfume. And it also makes it more down to earth, for those who like to keep both feet firmly on the ground.
