Yuzu

Very yuzu and lemon thyme-ish in my opinion, like almost exactly like lemon thyme. I love it so much, had a sniff at a lot of their range but this stood out like crazy, it's so good it's almost yummy? Not even almost it's really yummy, I'm surprised at how much I love it as I'm more into chocolatey or incense scents but this is so so so good. Had to get it, would recommend a sniff, especially for the price. I may be forever chasing this kind of scent again also... enough yapping.

I smelled it at a Marks and Spencer's yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it. Wow! What a zesty, juicy, bitter-sweet, citrussy freshy. I'm in love. I sprayed it on a paper slip and took it back home yesterday. It lasted on that strip until the next day. Faded, yes, but that zesty bite remained. I was so impressed that I had to get it today. For only £16 100ml what's not to like. Incredible juice.

Opens with a gorgeous, sharp blast of Yuzu, which quickly dries down into a wonderful sort of lemongrass... Unfortunately, that all lasts about 30 minutes no matter how much you spray, or where you spray it (clothes or skin)... I'm hoping some maceration will make it last a little longer because it's really so nice. And it goes without saying, the bottle is gorgeous.

initially it’s a lot of lemongrass. which isn’t in the notes but gurl... she is present. then it’s a super green, zesty, then balmy little humber that’s frankly v pleasant for summer. for the price point, i really can’t complain. bergamotto by the same line is the star of the show tho.

To me, this is more May Chang than Yuzu - lemony start, getting a little herbier, sweeter and warmer, but not much (hence not Lemongrass) and certainly not the fruitiness I would expect from Yuzu. Which is absolutely fine, because I really like what I'm smelling here. The main issue, though, is that it doesn't last AT ALL. This has been picked up by several commentators here, and I confess I didn't take it seriously enough before buying. I often enjoy simpler, cheaper scents for the summer from 'lesser' brands, and I know not to expect them to last very long - e.g., the lovely Vervain variations from Jeanne en Provence, by far my favourites, which will follow me for an hour or so on a summer evening, getting gradually weaker, but will still leave a whiff on my clothes the next day. The Yuzu from Monotheme, though, literally vanishes within minutes. I have tried it many times, piling on the spray, and it is astonishing how quickly and TOTALLY it disappears. Yes, the price is a bargain in principle, but with such a vanishing act it ends up frustrating rather than pleasing - a real shame because the smell itself is delightful.
