Aqua Palma

Having bought this blind, I admit that I was a little worried about how much the tuberose might intrude on my enjoyment of this new Montale offering (tuberose being my least favourite floral). Thankfully, I needn't have worried as I can barely detect tuberose at all. To my surprise though, unlike some other reviewers I also don't detect any aquatic, salty or coconut notes whatsoever. Which unsurprisingly matches the note list above. What I do detect is a very pleasant non-sweet citrus and pink pepper opening, followed by non-sweet peach, with a touch of white florals and sandalwood, then a vanilla, amber and musky base. It's a little bit powdery (likely from Orris) but done in the style of what I would describe as old school after shave splash (think Old Spice style - even though it's not remotely like Old Spice). It's a bit bracing and fresh on opening, but not really what I would ever describe as aquatic. It's actually quite unique and I'm enjoying it immensely. Performance wise, it's not really behaving like an eau de parfum; rather more like an eau de toilette.

There is a lot going on in this one- notes keep opening every minute. Starts off relatively cold and warms up quickly- I like how timber flows into musk, peach, and yes- cardamom (I`m the person who always complains about the absence of the mentioned spices but here yes- I can smell cardamom), Orris root (iris fans- give it a try), and some mild citrus. Vanilla unites all the notes under a tender veil. There is also some mild Tonka. I am a fan of wise skillful layering and this is it. This is a summer perfume but you have to listen to it like you listen to music :) I see it is being compared to more simplistic perfumes but this is not the case- here there is a whole symphony going on and you can appreciate it only if you understand the rare notes which are quite prominent in it.

Heavy citrus in the opening. Too heavy, in fact, it takes time to get used to. But once it subsides, the fresh fruitiness comes in and lingers. The sweetness manifests at the dry-down. Musky amber and vanilla mixes with the fruity notes it’s lovely. There is also a note of coconut that I do recognize. Reminds me of a summer lotion or sunscreen. It’s tropical, fresh. and lovely, though it does not live up to its “aquatic” name. Still, it performs very well in high heat and actually lasts long. It’s a great summer scent!

This fragrance is Gold, Fresh, Powdery, Sweet, Tropycal !!!! Very long lasting, in my opinion this is the most long lasting fresh fragrance i've ever had stays on your skyn for 8 hours definetely a very good gem. I can tell why most of the people found it coconutty that is the powdery note and the whte floral, the peach in the opening is superb the fresh aspect tends to fade away becoming more sweet on the dryed down. Very safe blind buy. it is very likeable my GF and Mum loves it definetely a must buy 9/10

smell great but what i love most it how so long lasting i went to the pool i had jpg ultra male on my left and aqua palma on my right i put them on each arm cause i was testing smth and i gotten in the pool for hour ultra male scent went away but aqua palma stayed strong and lasted me an extra 4 hours after the pool

It is nothing like Aqua Gold, way sweeter. After one wearing, I like it. I love Aqua Gold which is so sour, dry and manly, while Aqua Palma is unisex to my nose. I will test it more. Right now I feel it is worth a full bottle.

Sweet, fresh perfume. Like very much. The most favorite of all montale perfumes.

#655 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is a nice freshie for Summer. It doesn't smell like every other freshie. It has aspects of Amouage Meander and Mancera French Riviera. Bright, fruity, a little spicy, not sweet. Moderate longevity (barely makes it to lunch) which is as good as we usually get with a fruit-focused freshie. Moderate projection. Car pool, elevator, small office safe. Fine for the office in the Summer when it will not seem inappropriate. Not heavy at all, which is a pleasant surprise as so many Montale scents are beastly, but this also means it doesn't make much of an impression, and certainly won't be anyone's idea of a signature scent. But I think this is a nice, inoffensive, day-at-the-beach kind of fragrance. Sit-outside-for-drinks-with-friends wear. I would say if you like the island breeze vibe of Tommy Bahama scents, and really wish they came in an EDP strength, this will probably work for you.

Ok, so of all the "tropical" fragrances I own, THIS one to me smells like Coppertone sunscreen. It's a bit heavy in the tonka and vanilla, and at first spray I immediately noticed that first as the dominant players. Over time you get a mix of light transparent florals, and a touch of white peach fading in. It's a great smell, it does lean more feminine in my opinion, but still pretty unisex. For sure 100% scent to wear at a beach party....and nothing else. Very playful, very sunscreen....almost like you were sun bathing on the beach all day, and then sprayed a fruity floral light fragrance on immediately after putting your cloths back on, and then walking over to a beach hut party on that same beach. The more I smell it, this is how I would think a Hawaiian Maui babe would smell like.

The opening of Aqua Palma is quite rough, but after waiting a couple of minutes, it settles into a nice sunscreen vibe. Now, after 30 minutes, it smells like Kenzo L'eau Pure to me, but in a better way. The projection is crazy; with only one spray, it never left my nose. I don’t know about the longevity yet, but all I know is that this will easily surpass 8+ hours. Sooo, if you're expecting something like BoraBora, Le Beau Le Parfum, etc. do not blind buy this. But if you're a big fan of sunscreen type of scents, you won't be disappointed. [Edit: The performance is amazing]

A salty, aquatic, gently coconutty holiday-in-a-can scent. I’m actually on holiday when I discovered this today and I’ve sprayed it onto my sun-kissed skin and it works perfectly. I’ve sprayed it 3 times on my neck but it’s not beast-mode, you have to get close to smell it. I like the musky ambroxan dry-down. It reminds me of #laislablanca by Ramon Monegal but not as long lasting.

Great fresh fragrance - however it is unisex and imo slightly feminine leaning to me. It can be worn by men but in case you were wondering it leans just a touch feminine but not by much. Good scent profile with good performance.

Smells a bit generic but still fresh and nice. Mass appeling but lacks the wow factor IMO. Its okay.

Not a fan of the opening, but the dry down is so good A really nice ffresh ragrance overall

Big fan of Montale/Mancera here. But for this one, I'm speeding away from it with light speed. It's not bad, but it's boring. Offers nothing new. Smells like one of them millions of cheap-ish sport fresh cologne flankers you look away from at any mall. I'll take its predecessor Aqua Gold or any Invictus-esque fragrance over this any day.

Yeaaaaaahhh totally! Just for beach party and nothing else. It's just crazy how much there is beach parties all over the world. When i was in my twenties there were no beach parties, and i am 40, especially now there is no beach parties. Just because something smells like sun lotion doesnt mean that you can wear it only at beach parties.. (i suppose only people in USA have that) and in the movies. Cut the crap.
