Dallachaï

15.10.2024 I just received it today, so as of my first impression: Passionfruit is the most dominant note to my nose. After spraying out, the coffee note is quite Intense, it’s rather coffee beans to my nose than an already prepared milky latte. The spices are amazingly maching the scent. It’s a frag that I cannot really compare to anything, but It’s a tropical fruity, spicy, exotic experience. At the drydown, the Musk comes a bit ahead and I think it becames also Sweeter. Love it overall. 17.10.2024 I enjoy it more and more. Do not expect an intense coffee note in here. The passionfruit and saffron are more dominant to my nose. It’s a blond coffee, with spices with an INTENSE tropical twist, which lasts from the first spray till the end, probably this is the strongest note in here. Very unique parfum. I think you will either love or hate this one. I love it, But I am not convinced yet if I want to smell like this. Maybe from time to time. Scent: 4/5 Longevity: eternal Sillage: in the first couple of hours (3-4) you will leave a well noticable trail, (outdoor as well. My father was outside when I arrived home, I went into the house for a moment, to put my stuffs down and as my father was approaching and he arrived to the same way where I passed by to go into the house, he noticed my fragrance even before I came out of the house to greet him. ) Afterwards it will be still there, but less intensely. Projection: first 3-4 hours people will notice it if they approach you within 3-4 meters, afterwards it will move to within armlength, but still noticable for others if they are for example talking with you face to face. Safe blind buy? I don’t think so, only in case you are into tropical fragrances or you enjoy meeting new fragrances and having new experiences.

Well, I personally love it. I'm glad that I didn't go for any of the negative reviews and tested it myself. It does smell like Indian chai to me...in the best possible way. Just what I was personally looking for. What was interesting was that the lady behind the counter was trying to sell me all the floral perfumes of Montale and I had to specifically ask for Dalla Chai. She didn't know it herself and it was the first time she smelled it, too. Her reaction (even though she was supposed to sell this to me) was the face of total disgust. As if she was smelling a rotting fruit or milk gone off. She couldn't hide it. Whilst I was sniffing my sample of Dalla Chai and had the time of my life. She wanted to take my sample away and give me another one of the generic floral scents, but I wanted to keep on sniffing Dalla Chai and spend more time with it. I actually had to tell her that this was exactly what I was looking for and that I liked it. She was completely baffled. Shows you how differently we interpret scents. To me this doesn't smell bad at all. It doesn't smell off, it doesn't smell synthetic, it doesn't smell badly blended. To me it smells like a wonderful Indian chai, which I personally love. I'm happy that I tried it myself and didn't listen to the negative reviews. It's interesting how differently we experience scents. To me this is great.

Dallachaï is a unique experience inspired by Eastern tea notes, but it doesn’t deliver them in a traditional way. From the very first spray, the scent of passionfruit is clearly present and stays throughout the entire life of the fragrance, giving it a stable and recognizable identity. Hints of guava appear here and there, but they’re subtle and scattered. The passionfruit remains dominant. Saffron is also noticeable—bright and clear—but never harsh or overwhelming. Instead, it adds a warm and elegant Eastern touch. As the fragrance dries down, the fruity brightness softens, making room for a creamy base of milk blended with saffron. I personally didn’t detect any coffee or clove notes, despite what some reviews might suggest. In terms of overall impression, the scent strongly reminds me of “Oud Maracujá” more than it does of traditional Arabic tea. In fact, I believe it’s more likely inspired by that fragrance, as they share a similar DNA built around fruity and saffron notes. This fragrance truly stands out. Some fragrances take us back to specific moments, to memories that will always stay with us. Dallachai is one of those fragrances that I consider as such, of which when I had the privilege of trying it, I didn't even suspect its release. I put it on one early autumn evening, in one of my favourite cities: Cannes. The joy of that moment, enjoying the atmosphere of a place that is magical to me, being in a place that until recently I could only watch from afar (but that's another story) and not least, being stopped by people asking me what perfume I was in, can only have made it so special. For me, it is a wonderful Cappuccino with oriental and spicy nuances, chic, gentle, but also impactful, enveloping you with a wonderful scented cloud, which trust me, lasts a very long and follows your body, making itself perceived and then vanishing unexpectedly, creating something extremely charming. It reminds me of unexpected kindness, smiles, beautiful and genuine encounters. Truly a beautiful creation, which I can definitely say I listed among my favourites. ‘Balloon Girl’, a beautiful work of art by Banksy.

I bought a 100ml from the scent room in LA and this is a really amazing night time type fragrance (spefically sunset) i love the passionfruit note it smells peachy with a bit of spice and milky accords too. I barely get the notes of coffee, don't get it if you want a coffee forward fragrance Update: i rarely smell coffee or there's no coffee smell at all, it smells like a chai boba milk tea with the brown sugar syrup Overall: i really like this fragrance and I want to thank the guy who recommend me this fragrance and letting me to try it out from scent room, he said he wears it himself and to wear it if you want to smell very unique and want to stand out from the crowd I give this fragrance a: 8.7/10 (Side note:the bottle color reminds me alot of foundation for some reason)

Love at first sniff. This hit me in a VERY good way. I went to test Cafe Intense and wasn't so taken. I asked for something along the lines of Grand Soir and he gave me Dallachai. Wow it's totally unique. Scent profiles I haven't experienced together before, like passionfruit with spice. With just a spray on the chest and behind the ear, for hours I've been enveloped in the happpiest olfactory trance. There's a gorgeous light powderiness that elevates the spicy kick. New signature scent. I was about to buy MFK Oud Satin Mood but this is much better value and more fun.

Absolutely great. Unique, and definitely something that I didn't expect Montale would make. Passionfruit that is tangy & fruity, along with spicy & smooth cardamom and something that resembles cappuccino or latte? Really love wearing it. Performs extremely well too, just like most Montale fragrances I have tried. I don't know why it is that underrated.

i was considering a blind buy, however the reviews put me off. pleased to have found a sample. i have now purchased. it smells like a chai latte to me, with passion fruit, cloves and cardamom. it’s spicy and gourmand. delicious and strong. blend is smooth. if you’re into gourmands and cloves, check this out.

Amazing! The two new Montale are the perfumes I was waiting for. It is very smooth lactonic scent with passionfruit. It is not a dark coffe, it is a blonde coffee wellblended with spicy notes. I would like to drink it :) so delicious. Dallachaï was an instant love, definitely a forever favorite of mine.

This is a very beautiful, warm and sexy scent. It's not boring, it's spicy with lactonic sweetness. I was looking for something like that for a very long time. To me, this scent is inviting and cozy, perfect for autumn or winter. Chai with a hint of coffee and passion fruit.

Sweet and fresh passion fruit intertwines together with spices. I hardly smell coffee with milk. I tried a sample and bought it today. The whole combination is very reminiscent of fruit tea with passion fruit. Retention is very good.

Just got mine and I can say, unfortunately I cannot smell the milk in it, however I do feel the passion fruit. To my nose this smells very much like green tea, cold green tea. A nice fragrance, but not something wow.

This fragrance is not a typical offering of Montale, which usually rotates around sweet rose/oud combination. When I sprayed it on a blotter I couldn't guess the notes apart from some milky cardamom and something fruity/fresh, even minty. I still don't know what creates this minty accord in the opening. Once I saw a passion fruit in the notes, that's pretty much the only thing could smell in the opening (with slightly lactonic cardamom). That passion fruit note doesn't smell synthetic, it is not off putting at all unlike lychee note that was trendy a couple of years ago after Delina. I immediately added Dallachai to my wishlist. After smelling the blotter few hours later I am having slight doubts.The saffron becomes really loud in the drydown, and as much as I like the note, this fragrance becomes very similar to Annone by Pantheon Roma, which is similar to Initio's Oud for Greatness, and I am a little bit over this scent profile. I would much prefer that lovely passion fruit and milky cardamom combination to remain instead of being overpowered by saffron.

this fragrance is pretty weird and not what you’d expect. Im still trying to figure it out but its def not love at first sight. It’s not sweet, smells like realistic tea with milk. No sugar, no honey. Smells fresh, green, lactonic i can smell a little passionfruit as well. It’s interesting but i will pass on this one for now Edit: after wearing my decant bottle i can say this blew me off. Definitely wasn’t love at first sight but now i find it so much more interesting and wearable. Now i find it so sweet and I cant stop sniffing myself! I have never gotten 3 compliments from 3 different people in one day but with this perfume it seems to work!

Dallachai is a very pleasant fragrance with pronounced juicy fruity notes, the brightness of which is softened by a very delicate lactonicity. I do not hear notes of coffee or spices, but a slight spiciness is present in the scent. It is perfectly unisex, very tasty, gentle and unobtrusive. An interesting feature: unlike most Montale fragrances, I stop smelling it on my skin quite soon after applying. But for some, moderate diffusion is more of a plus than a minus.

I have a sample of this one. At first, it smelled kinda weird to me, but not in an unpleasant way. Almost rubber-like. After wearing it for 2/3 times, I'm really enjoying it. It's such a spicy and sticky scent. I know it's not on the notes list but it kinda reminds me of sticky dates. I normally layer it with Bohemian Oud from Zara, it smells delicious 🍫

This is very unique scent; it is very Middle Eastern-East Asian chai tea. I do not find it lactonic but I can smell passion fruit mixed with spices and saffron. Do not expect chai latte like from Starbucks. This is very grown up gourmand and its totally unisex. Its also very potent. I am over sprayer but with this one 2 max 4 sprays are enough.

One of the most unique perfumes I’ve ever smelled.. the passionfruit is strongggg but so are the spicy, coffee and milky notes.. it’s so interesting! Kinda stumped on trying to describe it but I do know I love it. Sweet tropical milky juicy warm spicy magic!

Very unique! It almost smells like a candle but it’s still wearable and actually nice! It’s like the smell of someone’s home just attached itself to your clothes (not in a bad way) I’m actually going to say it but I think I like it more than Arabians Tonka.

Wheres the coffee? Its all passion fruit. The notes mention milk which makes me expect a lactonic scent but this is sharp and fruity.

Smells like Angel by Mugler I love it almost more. Because Angel is so masc to me sometimes this could be her younger sister.

I can only say, a latte with passionfruit flavor and a little bit spice.

I'm one of the unlucky people who can smell straight-up celery in this. It's a weird scent. My first impression was: “it smells like a cupboard full of chicken spices,” and then all I could smell was celery. Maybe the celery note comes from the combination of passionfruit, coffee, and spices, who knows. No tea, no milk. Spices? YES. Passionfruit? Maybe, but a very strange one (definitely not the juicy, straightforward passionfruit you get in Fugazzi Passionfroudh, that’s for sure). Coffee? Same situation as the passionfruit. Over time (~40 minutes) the celery note settles down a bit, and the perfume becomes slightly more pleasant to my nose. Maybe that’s when the milk and passionfruit notes open up more, while the spices and coffee calm down, but I’m not completely sure. At least, that’s my first impression of this fragrance. It was a blind buy, and I’m kind of regretting it now, tbh. I’ll update here if anything changes. ___________ P.S. Montale, by the way... how come you couldn’t make a beautiful bottle for the 50 ml version (like the one for the 100 ml)? At least I’d have a pretty bottle in my collection :/

This is certainly not your girly supersweet sugary frothy Starbucks chai latte and it's definitely not blind buy safe for anyone expecting something along those lines. It's not even really conjuring up Middle Eastern or South Asian chai for me. I love a passionfruit note but here it is a bit at odds with the spices and roast coffee giving the fragrance a citric cuminy sort of odour. To me it's quite dry and dusty with savoury spices and has the feel of an old vegetarian cafe selling spices in the back and sharply juiced fruits front of store. Some ground coffee has fallen on a stove top and turned to embers. I'm not picking up on the milk. I mean it is interesting and probably one I will keep sniffing until I can process it properly - for now it feels weirdly pleasant but not purchasable. I think this might do better on a guy due to the cuminy thing it's doing. Edit : I tried again and this time I got a blast of celery as it opened up, someone below said the same thing. It gave way to a lot of passion fruit and the same savoury spice/coffee in the cupboard vibe. This is a rather weird fragrance.

This frag is a classic case of bait & switch - the bait being the luscious opening & the switch is everything after that. Opening is deliciously unique green & fruity scent. Bright, juicy, tropical, spicy. A big bowl of freshly peeled tropical fruit served on a bed of freshly ground arabica green coffee beans. Yummmm! However, dry down tamps it all down & scent bcms something totally different. All the luscious fruitiness becomes a ghost & other less attractive notes (saffron? cardamom?) take over. Scent becomes a tropical fruit salad left out overnight uncovered, unrefrigerated, and wholly unappetizing. And strangely musty. A bowl of dusty plastic fruit on display in a messy vintage shop. SO disappointing! 😩

This scent is definitely unique, but it's not that exciting for me personally. I pick up on some passionfruit and guava-esque fruitiness accompanied by a dry, bitter coffee tone with amber and saffron adding depth to the base. I’ll use up my decant but that’s about it, not FB worthy. Update- As it dries down after about an hour or so, the scent becomes slightly more refined and smoother. Smells pleasant too. It brings back memories of my grandparents' house, where they'd stock up on guava-flavored candies and brew copious amounts of coffee, which is probably why I’ll always keep a decant of this, out of nostalgia. Expected more from Montale, unfortunately this falls short.

This has been on my wishlist for some time now, I managed to sample it yesterday. I feel that the cloves with the passionfruit give it a very spicy sour vibe. It smells like you are wearing a nice basic sweet vanilla coffee fragrance, but u have been cooking some Indian stir fry and the smell of the spices settled on your hair and clothes. Its a disappointment for me and am sadly removing it from my wishlist.

doesnt smell like chai! if you want chai go with gris charnel coffee milk and cardamom with a weird passionfruit note that gives unnecessary fruitiness not sweet enough to smell like a milky drink, not spicy enough to be oriental, not fruity enough to be fresh scent. weird mix of notes . not bad but it just doesnt work together

Passion fruit and cardamom dominate for a fruity and spicy fragrance. Not getting any coffee, milk, or other laconic nuances. I am loosely reminded of Tom Ford Bitter Peach on the opening. A floral toned amber emerges as it dries down and it becomes even more unremarkable than it was before.

disappointed :( I think the passionfruit is what killed it for me. I really wanted a warm cup of chai in a bottle. Instead it's very... wet and the milk and coffee note is really cancelled out by the tartness of the passionfruit.

All I get from this is the passion fruit from this, it’s definitely not what I expected and I can’t detect the coffee or the lactonic note. Not a safe blind buy, definitely needs a sample which is what I got.

I get a very upbeat and spicy chai tea, but something in here smells like celery. I thought I was tripping, but the celery smell gets stronger within a few minutes after spraying.

Milky earl grey tea with a hint of spice and passion fruit. It is not bad but I wouldn't wear it as a perfume. It is still interesting though!

Okey, they pretty, i cant smell the milk and caffee, even the passionfruit is slighly noticable. Idk what i feel about them.

After I spent some time with it, it started to smell like SDJ 68 body mist. This is not a special scent i think.

I chose the sad face because I am soooo sad that this scent doesn't work for me. I loved all of the scent notes, so I was excited to wear it. I was confused when I tried it because all I could smell was celery seed. I can't even say I notice any other notes on my skin. But if I smell my wrist through my sweatshirt I get an icky smell that reminds me of a tropical-perfumed gas station bathroom with bleach. Or a used baby wipe. WHYYYYYY My boyfriend doesn't think so though, so if I wear it anyway will other people think it smells nice? Does this mean that fragrances I find beautiful other people think I smell like hot trash??

???? This smells like my grandmother's house. Baby wipes in the opening, and then this strange, stale fruit-coffee scent in the drydown. Like a Glade plug-in from an alternate dimension. Almost a new car smell at times?! Pierre, what...?

Weird and not for everyone. You can definitely smell cardamon, safron and clove and hint of passionfruit later (for me smells a bit like celery). But somehow does not smell like chai to my nose and not on my skin.

TLDR; As a huge Montale fan, this one's a pass for me. As I unscrew the cap and spritz the fragrance into the air, I'm immediately enveloped in its beautiful opening. The passionfruit leaps forth—a vibrant, sweet burst, reminiscent of sun-kissed tropical shores. It's inviting and playful, igniting a rush of anticipation for what is to come. However, as the initial sweetness fades, the scent morphs into an unexpected direction. The delightful passionfruit gives way to its more sour counterpart, an experience that feels reminiscent of ripe tropical fruits past their prime. This sourness is underscored by a grassy, almost herbal quality, likely drawn from the cardamom that weaves through it. Hints of coffee emerge subtly in the background, lending a deeper, slightly roasted complexity to the fragrance. Yet, despite these intriguing nuances, there's a conspicuous absence of warmth—no amber, no musk—to lend any depth or richness to the composition. The fragrance continues to linger on the skin for hours, but rather than evolving into something comforting, it remains a sour, vegetal scent that fails to captivate. Overall, the journey from the bright opening to the disappointing finish leaves much to be desired. With its unbalanced combination of notes and lingering sourness, this fragrance does not resonate with me, and I cannot recommend it to others seeking a harmonious scent experience.

Ugh, unfortunately, this one smells like lovage (Maggi) & bitter crushed leaves to me. Absolutely unpleasant! Every person I've shown Dallachaï to, immediately recoiled and said things like "what the hell is this?" or "ugh, that smells horrible!". Even online (not here) many people say similar things. What in the world did the perfumer/s think? Sorry, I usually like Montale scents, but this one is a scrubber.

nauseating chemical. 1st spray on paper was nice, but when I got the paper back out later it had developed the most horrible smell. I literally made the stick out the tongue face and had to go throw the paper out in the outside garbage.

dallachai has taken me on quite a journey. at first, it opens with a burst of fruity sweetness (that is, to be honest, hard to pinpoint exactly as passionfruit, it's more of a general fruitiness) and warm spice - with very little coffee detected. in the mid, the fruit takes a backseat and i get something warm, spicy, slightly sweet and lactonic. deep in the dry down - musk and spice. it's not exactly bad in my opinion. in fact, had i smelt this blindly, not knowing anything about its olfactory composition, i might have really enjoyed this. but alas i did have certain expectations and what i wanted was a strong, spiced latte with a noticeable and sweet passionfruit. this did not meet those expectations and i'm left disappointed. i think this has potential to be a great layering scent but i'm not much of a layerer in general. so i probably won't rush out to get this. in saying that, i have only tested this once so my thoughts could change. we shall see but for right now i am still on the hunt for the perfect scent for the upcoming australian winter.

OK, so I'll start by saying I buy my Montales direct, so I don't have a dud. My skin chemistry loves Montale usually, but this one doesn't play nicely on me at all. The cardamom smells old and dry and completely takes over anything nice. I've had it on for a couple of hours and am fighting the urge to wash it off. Some Montales need to sit and grow with the opening not giving the full picture, but I'm not holding out much hope with this one. The opening normally intrigue me, but this is quite disgusting on my skin. Having read the reviews, I can only guess you need the right skin chemistry. So not a safe blind buy, test first for sure. I currently smell like an old, damp apothecary drawer. 👀 My first bad experience from Montale. Tbh I wouldn't like my man smelling like this either. Longevity- going strong atm unfortunately. Silage- I'm not leaving the house If it improves I'll update, if I can resist the urge to shower

First impressions. My first instinct was to recoil with horror -- it must be the most cloying fragrance I have ever smelled. It's sickly sweet and piercingly unnatural smelling, in a nutshell -- cotton candy with magic marker. But it's not really simplistic. I think it's the passionfruit that makes it especially weird. Kind of goes against the grain, since the other notes would make for a regular oriental gourmand profile. The saffron note is very distinctive, I get some coffee and lactonic notes in the background. I don't get any cloves or cardamom, but they might be foreshadowed by the "larger than life" sweet and sour fruity notes. Try making a sweet coffee with milk and spices, and throw a bunch of sour fruit in, watch the milk curdle. I recommend getting a sample to experience this strange combination.

So I bought this and it came a few days ago. Honestly, I really don’t like it. It definitely smells like a cup of Chai but the passionfruit note in this is not done nearly as well as done in Oud Maracuja for example. it comes across as lime/lemon and actually makes me feel a bit queasy, it’s more hassle than it’s worth for me to return this as I bought it directly from montale So I might keep this and see what it becomes Overall, I give it a 2 out of 10. Probably the first blind by what I genuinely don’t like the scent.
