Intense Black Aoud

Ok. This is interesting. I also own Mancera Black Prestigium. Comparing the two is like a comparison between passion for coffee and caffeine addiction. One is exuberant, emanates class and is extremely well refined and extremely potent. While the other generates "immunity". "The other" in this case being Intense Black Aoud. This is so strong, I got nose-blind from it within a minute. I could smell it up-close, on my hand, but in the air, if I don't leave the room for tens of minutes where this was sprayed on, I won't pick it up. It just kills my nose. Spraying it on somebody else allows me to smell it filling up a whole room. In the air it has a really surprising sweetness to it. It's splendid. Otherwise, up-close, I can only feel the woodsy and earthy notes. The scent is very nice, gives off vibes similar to Black Prestigium, but as I was saying, this is more "harsh", aggressive. Not like BP would be a mass-pleaser, but this clearly would not have a chance. If you don't mind not feeling your scent for the whole 12+ Hours it lasts, go for it. But easy on the trigger. 2 sprays might be too much for indoors. Scent : 10/10 Longevity : 10/10 , talking 12+ Hours Projection : bruh Price value : Very good considering the above. Out of the two, I'd still reach out for Black Presitigium for whenever I have company or I go out. I'd use this for more "me" time so I won't eat through that classy bomb BP is.

Recently aquired this as I am a huge fan of Black Aoud International version (not the made in france formulation) of which I own and cherish. So... normaly I would bury a fragrance for claiming to be an intense version, especially when it turns out not to be the case, however this is going to get a reprieve. This isn't as loud as the international version of black aoud... however black aoud is probably the strongest performing fragrance in my collection of hard hitters which includes Interlude Man (Magnetic Top), Black to Black, Red Aoud, Kouros, Faqat Lil Rijal and Dior Homme Parfum, I can say however that this on my skin gives off what I consider to be the best parts of black aoud, that in my opinion being the floral nuances in contrast to its heavy oud opening which gently simmers down within minutes on my skin. The dank earthy Patchouli seems toned down in this intense version at least to my nose, I have read in previous reviews that this comes off slightly more feminine and again on my skin in comparison to its predecessor, I have to agree completely and I actually feel it works really well as the dry down is phenominal being slightly sweeter and powdery. I get similar longevity to the orginal but slightly toned down projection which I dare say will please some of the critics of the orginals monster performance. All in all a respectable showing, well done Montale.

Have you ever worn a Montale perfume and thought to yourself: I'm not interested in these fancy top notes, I just want to drown myself in that Montale base of rose & oud? Or, are you the kind of pervert who thought Black Aoud just wasn't rich enough for your nose? Well, Intense Black Aoud is our juice! The is a dense, pungent, tenacious elixer of pink rose and oud. Is there patchouli, dark musk and orange zest? Maybe, maybe not. That's not the point. There're maybe a dozen or two molecules here. What you'll smell is that infamous Montale combination of oud-y rose. Indeed, when Intense Black Aoud was first released, it was officially suggested for it to be used as a base layer for other Montale perfumes...wait for it...to increase the projection & sillage of Montale perfumes. Just in case you needed people from the building across the road to catch your scent trail. Is this more powerful than the original Black Aoud? Denser, certainly. A more intense bubble. Stronger sillage. Projection & durability is similar...not that anyone would suggest the original suffered potency issues. Anyway, I personally love the Montale rose, and Intense Black Aoud is the absolute statement that can be made regarding it. Highly recommended for Montale fans.

It's not that it projects more or is more long-lasting than the original Black Aoud: this scent is just deeper, more multifaceted, thicker and fuller. At first glance, apart from the mandarin and the more decisive citrus notes in the head, it might seem like the same accord, but it's not like that. Over time, Black Aoud Intense reveals a dare I say mystical, almost sacred heart that evolves and alternates with an opulent Bulgarian rose (beautiful by the way) for the entire duration of the perfume on the skin. I find it very elegant and sophisticated and not as loud as it is often described: it smells of mystery, of ancient objects kept in secret niches and wrapped in precious fabrics, of manuscripts rolled up in the library of "The Name of the Rose", of stones from monasteries of sacred incense fumes. In my opinion, a masterpiece sometimes snubbed by the so-called "niche purists", too busy looking for dubious and importable smells (which often turn out to be nauseous stinks!) to realize they have a unique and distinctive olfactory composition available, to all intents and purposes one of the best examples of typical Omani perfumery. For me they are five stars without ifs and buts, certainly to have in the collection.

I have over 50 Oud+Rose combos and I have to say I am very happy with this. All of the notes are well balanced with the oud and rose being the most prominent, however, the noticeable mandarin makes it somehow “woodier”. It smells like a vintage wooden table that was just polished with lemon oil, with a vase of roses sitting on top of it. This brings back memories of my childhood home in Mexico City, where I would go into my grandfather’s studio to hide from my cousins while playing hide and seek. It had mahogany shelves and lots of old law books. My grandmother would always have a huge vase of fresh flowers in the hallway by it. The performance is astounding. The scent evolves very slowly so its hard to get bored of it. One spray in each pulse point and it will project until the next day. I find this somehow similar to Roja’s Aoud, however, it is better performance and it wont stain your clothes. Most people would say that this is a winter fragrance, however, this in hot weather smells like a field of oranges. Earthy, bitter, and beautiful. I wouldn't be afraid to rock this in any setting, just make sure not to spray twice in one spot as one spray of this equals about 3 sprays of your average niche perfume.

This is a deceptively strong and romantic masculine Arabian scent. The “Aoud” is less pronounced than I would have guessed. The rose/oud combo is delicate and realistic. The intense extrait version has excellent longevity and good projection. It’s not as strong as Arabians Tonka, but is much less potentially offensive and more suitable for year round and professional use if worn in moderation. If you overspray this one, it will get sharper and less pleasing to others. 2 on the chest and 1 on each arm is an all day commitment for me. Works great year round, but excellent for me in Spring/summer evenings. Applied frugally, it’s expensive and confident. Dinner and a show, soirée, garden and equestrian clubs, country and supper club, golf club, romantic date, resort dinners, etc. Not for jeans and t shirt days. It’s not as challenging a fragrance as many reviewers hype it up to be. Clean, handsome, beautifully done rose masterpiece. Amplifies the sophistication and romance of your clothing and environment. The wife loves it on me.

I was all about Black Aoud when it was released years ago, so I figured I'd give this Intense a try. I like it a lot. I was looking forward to that zingy, pungent musk, but this is not the same. The Rose is more classic, like my Chrysler Imperial rose bush. "Olde world" and dusty, dark and citrusy. I like this, on its own or for layering. I layer with Afnan Tobacco Rush; it works with the amber, rose, oudhs intermingling. You could layer this with a lot; Encore Noir A L'extreme. Juliet has a Gun, Straight to Heaven, Santal 33, etc. It's just such a great, deep, rich rose. I really don't notice any patchouli, musk or other ingredients---the rose majestically sits atop and drives the entire thing. You could use this to make perfume solids, with shea butter and beeswax or to make bakhoor with lower grade aloeswood pieces, to warm or to actually smolder, because of its positive burning characteristics. For $80, this bottle(removable screw top cap) is concentrated magic, for incense makers. It will last me quite a while.

Being a huge fan of the original Black Aoud, I was very excited about this release and blind bought it. I confirm that indeed the two fragrances are very similar, with the intense version being a tad more floral. Obviously, it is more expensive than the original because it is in "extrait" concentration but is it really? First of all, on my skin it does not perform any better than the original. Sillage and projection are slightly restrained but I could accept that, being an "extrait". What I found disappointing, after testing both of them many times simultaneously, is that it does not offer better longevity. And that is a deal breaker, given the price difference of two pretty similar perfumes. Also, even though the sticker on the bottle writes "Extrait de parfum", the box and the sticker on the base write "Eau de parfum". Keep in mind, that I got it directly from their site. I will probably stick with the original Black Aoud next time.

I agree with a few of the posts here regarding the "INTENSE" part of this fragrance; that indeed it is not what the name suggests. As an Extrait de Parfum, I was expecting more. Its defiantly not that intense. and longevity is far from great considering the concentration. I was not privy to the original, but this didn't get me more than 7 hours. A decent projection for 2-3 hours then thats it. A very HEAVY mandarin note that I feel dominates for the life of the fragrance and actually lends itself to being a summer fragrance. Not sure how I feel about this creation. Not sure where this fits into my collection. Its ok..might give it a proper run in the summer.

This is nuclear brother of black Aoud with intensified rose and Oud but with a more mandarin in drydown giving it more warmer weather feeling,it’s good and it’s one of the strongest perfumes I’ve ever tried,not stronger than OG but more rose intensified. People will notice you with this on a long distance and it leaves the trail in the room for a long time. Great stuff.

Incredible fragrance. Smells like an oud rose combo with patchouli. This is sweeter than some oud rose fragrances. This is really similar to Noir de Noir, almost no difference. Got it for $85 and would recommend buying it for higher than $150. The rose in here is very sweet like Oud satin moods rose, not like the rose in for example Atomic rose by Initio.

First impressions: this is good. I don't know if it's more powerful than Black Aoud, but it keeps on giving off scent every moment I'm working at my desk. I sprayed like 15 times on myself and 3 on my T-shirt. I go hard or I go home. I think the original left a more oily residue on my arms...

Super similar to the og black aoud. Just as good of performance. Only thing i can tell is maybe a hair more citrus and it's a hair less musk. I enjoyed the og so I also enjoy this. I'm curious being an extrait if this will last longer than the og. 9/10.

intense as in many cases it does not mean stronger or longer lasting ... and this case confirms it. there is a higher concentration of oils (in fact it is a very oily perfume) but to say that it is clearly stronger I would not say it. the scent is splendid. surpassed the initial part I would say fecal where all the notes fight each other the cute mandarin takes a less synthetic rose of classic black aoud and remain together for a while. of oud for now little and nothing.in the background there is always that sort of smell of dishwashing detergent but sometimes it is a hallmark of many montale.la pink I confirm that it is a very natural rose, very pleasant. really nice. no word like toxic waste is apt. I think that montale has turned in the use of its components that here appear decidedly natural and not very synthetic. And who said that the last bottles had less strength, well he will have to change his mind. patchouli and musk are dominated by pink and mandarin. patchouli sometimes appears but as a supporting actor. after a quarter of an hour he begins oud. my opinion is that it is less intense than rose, at least for the first quarter of an hour, while the rose is becoming a rose soapy I would say old style. the oud is there. but unlike the classic black aoud, it accompanies the rose without overwhelming it. and unfortunately I find it a somewhat faecal aoud. not really pleasant. the scent slips away between very soapy pink and I would say grandmother accompanied by mandarin. there is aoud but it is not a protagonist like in the classic black aoud. this fragrance could also be used in spring. and in my opinion it is much more feminine than black aoud classic. pro: better quality of the ingredients used, very natural and pleasant pink especially at the beginning. I like the mandarin that accompanies the rose. against: oud little present and slightly faecal and the rose turns into a rose style grandmother. conclusions: if you love the montale buy it, knowing that it is a more feminine scent than masculine and in my opinion different than the classic black aoud. it is not a dark perfume but a scent of rose and mandarin with hints of oud, but oud is not the protagonist .. also wearable in spring. it's really intense at the nose.3 sprays are more than enough. the performances have improved in intensity. slightly (but it was unthinkable to do so) in longevity and sillage. 7/10 total vote. update:is really too strong. 3 spray fill an house.

I was intrigued by a flanker to the famous Montale Black Aoud, but ultimately, in trying Intense Black Aoud, it's very similar to the dark rose / oud composition that is the original, sharing its superlative performance and slightly smoky and subtle undertones along the lines of patchouli and saffron, though only the former is listed here. I quite like it, as I did the original, but as I sold my bottle of the original, I too would not feel inclined to seek out a lot of this juice. It's very pleasant and a bit denser than the original, but I prefer the original, which I didn't imagine I'd describe as relatively easy to wear, but when compared to Intense, the original is a little more modest, frankly. Still, the Intense is nice and I'm sure some will be pleased with Montale stepping up Black Aoud another notch, but it just doesn't move the needle much for me. 7 out of 10

I blind bought this (which was silly of me as it’s not a “cheapie”) and where the projecting and longevity are legitimately the longest I have ever seen in any fragrance it ironically makes my issue with it worse. It leans quite feminine in my opinion and It’s just too much rose, to the point that it feels imbalanced and the other notes feel almost non existent apart from the mandarin which seems the bring out the worst in this rose. I really wanted to like this and I gave it so many chances but it just isn’t for me. I would like to sell my 100ml bottle.

I must be nose blind to rose post-covid, because I bought a decant of this after reading reviews that praised the stronger rose note. Just like my beloved Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose, I smell no rose. 😔 Still, I do like this one. It's an easy wear when I'm not in the mood for my sweet, gourmand fragrances and a single spritz under my shirt lasts a decent amount of time without bombarding everyone around me with the scent.

Nose Note #1131 This is not far away from stuff like Gold Intensive Aoud, Black Line and other rose centered fragrances from Montale/Mancera. Very similar honey-like rose accord. Except this one is a bit more oriental. That's about it. Feels like I've smelled this dozen times. Portrait of a Lady? Yeah, sort of, but not as "bugspray". The classic Montale rose accord + some incense. 7.2/10

I must be broken. Probably in more ways than one. It is a nice scent but to me, certainly leans more feminine. I tried it on and my wife walked past and said I smelt like a grandmother. Too funny! I think it is a beautiful rose. Soft scent but great performance. Really all I get is a dusty yet beautiful rose. Not for me. Not a bad scent.

Well this one is a nuclear of perfumes.. the Cambodian Aoud is dominated, followed by rush of roses and slight patcholi.. the projection is enormous and long lasting.. I tried one spray on my T shirt and the smell overwhelmed my wardrobe.. very significant. It’s worth the money.. limit yourself with one or 2 sprays not more than that.

Incredibly strong. Rose and oud that lasts FORVER. I gifted this to my girlfriend who very much loves the smell of rose. She thinks it is actually too strong to wear often. Buyer beware!

What was the need to make a scent that is practically the same as Black Aoud? Montale has excellent capabilities to find new solutions.

Expected way sweeter profile. They are not floral at all. Oud, wood + green and maybe orange, musk. Drydown is kinda dry, rubish and harsh. Not a nice sience, more nishe than i think. Compleks, not versitale. Atomaizer as always - usable .. short with mid, not wide shots. Projection is good. Lasting is great too, on clothes easy can live 3 days and more. For me, very similar to oud wood intense. And arabians tonka still best perfume from montale.

Questi profumi tutti uguali di oudh sintetico misto a odore di bruciato e vaniglia nauseante non li sopporto più. Sembra che non ci sia niente altro che questo, la vie est belle e one million. Tutti e tre dei sinteticoni da baraccone, si sente solo quello, quando passano loro, divorano tutti gli altri profumi per lasciare la solita scia dozzinale e noiosa.

Ah this is over the border of my rose toleration. I prefer Aoud Night any day. It smells like rose so much that even the strong Oud note gets lost in it.

The most antisocial, maybe even sociopathically strong perfume imaginable. Impossible to wear, impossible to scrub off.

The notes sounded lovely, but on my skin it smelled like intense cat piss. Absolutely horrible. I do like other Montale ones, just not this one. Definitely try it on before buying.

about the "Why again a stronger version of an already olphactory bomb?" the answer is bc Pierre Montale can and we want and we will. we will appreciate it bc the Montale perfumes are each strong presences in their own right where I love the oudh-rose combos the most (more, more instead of what the prissy criticasters say of "there are already so much oudh-rose combos on the market"). marketing doesn't play an important, if any, role in my purchases of perfume. I clearly remember ten years ago, or so, I had to decide between Attar, Black Aoud [as Montale calls it] and Louban. it was a fun moment, what perfumery in essence is. Black Aoud in the end I found too...."dry", compared to the other two. I also distinctly remember the "gun in da face" start of the three, all. but with Louban this sensation was the most evident. I finally chose for Attar which buzzed off a hardcore (to me) oudh-rose perfume. later I learned instead of oudh it is a "double distilled sandelwood" which synesthesizes with the beautiful rose. yet I could swear, as with many reviewers, there is oudh in Attar. Montale you have us schooled too good. then now the Black Aoud Intense. still a decant (alas but will buy a full flacon soon of this "extrait de parfum"), I was immediately brought back in hypnotic reminescence to that sniffing session years ago and again the draught caught my attention, a certain dryness as with Mme. Gres's Cabochard and Dusitas Sillage Blanc, both fantastic perfumes. a bewitching oudh rivulets to the surface and cloches you immediately and irreversibly. the rose is more intermingled with the oudh like in Dusitas masterpiece Oudh Infini yet there, at a certain 3+, 4+ hours point, out emerges a beautiful rose de mai. here with MBOI we get the wall (Oudh Infini, there from civet and an unbelievable strong oudh; Bogue Profumos Maaj; Ex Idolo Thirty Three, there from a strong 33 years ago distilled oudh plus an intricately in the oudh alchymied chinese rose-oil and Taifi roses) of, IMMEDIATELY, a STRONG oudh (and now even stronger) with a very sophisticated rose what Pierre Montale does so good and why there is so much Montale bashing around by elitist amnostic snob nez's as Octave Coiffan, Roja Dove, Luca Turin, Kafkaesque, Serge Lutens et al. the "dryness" is a 'mouilleux sec' embossed in the perfume which makes this perfume exceptional, in its own right, a real asset to an oversatiated market but who cares. choose your pic. as a Giorgio-Poison-Obsession-Knowing-Gale Hayman Beverly Hills adept I can appreciate this perfume from beginning to end. after one hour beyond first application (as this is jargon in parfumista land) a fantastic rose appears and this is the truly alchymy of perfumery how, they DELAY the appearance of certain notes or how such strong notes as rose and oudh bewitch and enrich each other. this doesn’t at all means the oudh is vanished because we smell an almost heavenly and in its own intricacy yet more complex ‘oversensorial rose’ a rose of the thymes.

This is a joke right? Same note list as Black Aoud minus the labdanum. But someone decided Black Aoud wasn't strong enough so they created an intense version? Really? I own Black Aoud and it took me a looong time to get to the point where I could say I like it. The rose is just overwhelming. The overall fragrance is ridiculously powerful and long lasting. Now that I can actually tolerate it and even like it to some degree, I struggle to find any place or occasion to wear it. It's just too damned strong even with 2 sprays. I'd imagine the "Intense" version would just exacerbate that problem. Places I'd wear Black Aoud or the Intense version.......... 1.) A wake where I'm already in a room immersed in 100 floral displays. 2.) A funeral outdoors where the breeze would provide some relief. 3.) A gathering where I want to torture the people around me. 4.) A Halloween party where my costume is Dracula. 5.) A Goth convention. Places where I wouldn't wear Black Aoud or the Intense version.......... 1.) Work 2.) Traveling by plane or train 3.) A bar (may get you punched) 4.) A restaurant (you may be asked to leave) 5.) A ball game 6.) The gym 7.) Running errands 8.) A house party 9.) A wedding 10.) A business convention The versatility of stuff this powerful starts to approach zero. What's it good for?

Guys , this one is really a nuclear bomb. I think I can say without exaggeration that it is one of the most powerful fragrances in the world. Just one whiff and you are enveloped in a magical world. It is extremely strong and I can cover an entire room with just one whiff. I smell less rose in this version and more oud. Somehow the extrait version is more masculin for me. Longevity 10/10 Projection 10/10 Sillage 10/10- I can only suggest you really not overspraying. 1, max 2!!!!! spray but with 2 sprays you re over. It’s unwashable from clothes so you can wash it away only if you select a long wash- program on your washing machine and even after showering it was still on me. Since I am an absolute fan of Pierre Montale, he is definitely the king of perfume scents of the word.

Haven’t done any reviews for awhile as an owner of the original black aoud (which i loved and adored btw) this release amped it up on a new level 😅😂 BLACK AOUD on steroids. I would say almost identical smell with more kick longevity, projection is beyond 1-2 spray should be enough “lovely rose btw” the original is what made me a montale fan and this is no different, yes it’s a love or hate relationship, but i just love strong and unique scent, so it’s a love in my book. I recommend testing first if it’s for you DEFINITELY NOT A BLIND BUY.

You people are truly amazzzzzzzing:)) First you start saying that INTENSE doesn't really means its stronger or longer lasting- then in the end of review say its too strong and room filling...my word that you can never really trust a review here or online for that matter cause every time its over exaggerating and makiong a matter of opinion a statement which i believe its wrong! i say always when you commit to write a review that millions will read , please be more careful and honest, i humbly THANK YOU if YOU do that

This fragrance is silly strong. Lol. I already have Montale’s Black Aoud. My wife bought the Intense version because I was looking for it before I purchased Black Aoud. Both are extreme scents. The longevity is out of this world on both scents. I really can’t measure the longevity on it because I normally wash it off before it’s done performing. My wife HATES this fragrance, but I really like it. I don’t know when I’ll wear it, but I spray it on while I’m at home every now and then. It Lol. Holla.

Apart from the slight tanginess from the mandarin orange, there is not much to separate this from the original Black Aoud. Well, perhaps the rose is a bit more prominent in the drydown in the Intense version... maybe. I love both of them very much in any case and wear them quite a lot. Edit: 18 months later, after wearing it quite a lot, I prefer the Intense version over the original. The mandarin orange makes it brighter and sweeter. I love it!

This is more complex than the original but not stronger or longer lasting. Which may be a good thing. No one needs the projection and longevity of the original unless they live in Antarctica. I primarily get the signature Montale rose and oud accord, in addition to vanilla and tonka. It’s a Montale that is closer to an MFK fragrance than the original Black Aoud was. It’s somewhere between Black Aoud and Oud Satin Mood

This is basicly the same scent as the original Black Aoud. I got a sample out of curiosity and even comparing them side by side i pick up on no differences. Maybe the Intense version smoothes out a bit faster, loses its rough edges sooner but even that might be just autosuggestion on my part. If you want this scent, don't pay extra for the Intense version, just buy the one you find for the better price.

Smells more similar to Mancera Black Prestigium than it does to the original Black Aoud. That said, the saffron in this Intense version is a little more pronounced than the original. Nothing original. If you're used to frags like Tiziana Terenzi Gold Rose Oudh, Raboob by Nabeel and Black Prestigium by Mancera, then you pretty much know what Black Aoud Intense smells like. Nothing to see here.

Where is the Oud in this ? All I smell is Rose and Lots and lots of Rose. I am use to the barnyardy Oud it has its own understanding. I get just too much Rose. Its a great fragrance but not for me, I want a little more skanky oud which will open up to a beautiful leathery woody rose oud combo. Too many Rose Oud combo in the market these days IMO

This one is exactly as the name states, Black Oud Intense. A stronger offering of the original. To my nose the scent itself is the same, just louder and stronger. Maybe a tad bit more floral but tough to discern. I like it, will most likely purchase the full bottle. As with most other Montales, good projection and longevity.

don't buy it blindly Smel like rose garden. I don’t know who want to smell like Rose Garden and don’t know where you can wear this fragrance. If you want the monster projection Parfum it’s one of the best for this price. I’m lucky because bought only 2ml tester. I thought will more woody but I smell only rose and more rose..

Bro I hated this the first time, then again and again after smelling it on friends and at the store the dry down is where it is at. The performance makes you think you bought yourself some war crime worthy chemical weapon.

People are immensely screwing up the notage on this and the original It is not 'CITRUS' rose or patchouli as the main note it's BETTLENUT or supari (can be found an eaten as paan in pakistani indian restaurants)

The comment from JRLT made a laugh. Lol. It actually feels like you bought some chemical solution. Its the dry down which is simply beautiful. Don't blind buy. Try it and then decide.

The Original Black Aoud last an estimated 24Hours strong on skin and days on clothing; Any more than 2 sprays you will be choking the crowd, Do we need an intense version?
