Orange Flowers

Genuinely don’t understand why they would discontinue a banger like this. Maybe I am biased, cause orange blossom is one of my favorite scents in the entire world and any perfume with this flower on the forefront will please me, but it’s easily up there with my favorite orange blossom perfumes. As a benchmark, if I had to name fleurs d’oranger by Serge Lutens as the best orange blossom, this would be another runner-up. I previously described Fleur d’Oranger as “the smell of paradise”, and while orange blossom is less heavenly and ecstatic, it is a sweeter counterpart. If FdO is actual heaven, Orange Flowers is a hedonistic emperor’s imitation of heaven in his gardens, with sweet treats layered with honey laying on a banquet and white flower bushes as far as the eye can see, the sun shining bright with a sweet breeze to cool you. Not a chagrin on your mind, a lover’s arms wrapped around you. Lasts very long, such a comforting and beautiful summer fragrance. I usually associate a scent with a city or a place, and Orange Flowers is the scent of a palace in the Mediterranean. Get it while the resellers still have them on their hands. Update: wore this out in Sevilla today and two people on different occasions (a barista and a waiter to be exact) told me I smell really good and that they could smell me as I walked in. Mind you this was a good 5-6 hours after spraying. This is going to be my new summer favorite and dare I say I like it even better than Sintra

Not much to add that hasn't already been said about this fragrance. I LOVE IT!! Orange Flowers is a spicy, orange blossom fragrance that opens with a definite citrus note. I definitely detect mandarin and lemon in the opening. Common with citrus openings, the citrus notes quickly dissipate and give way to the perfect blend of honeyed-floral notes. To my nose, I mainly detect orange blossom and a bit of jasmine (which I love) and syrupy ylang-ylang. Orange Flowers retains the density and thickness I adore with orange blossom fragrances. Throughout its wear, the perfume retains a rich and creamy feeling but never becomes thick and suffocating. Likewise, Orange Flowers never becomes shrill, thin, weak, or aquatic...never approaches tropical. The landing is a slightly sweet, honeyed, vanilla-musk base with a hefty dose of orange blossom and cedar! Longevity is good and silage is average for Montale. My only complain is the oiliness of the perfume. A simple spray leaves residue everywhere.

Got a sample of this today and gave it a go. I have never been a huge fan of dominant orange blossom, but this scent really took me by surprise. It is intense, yes, almost intoxicating, but in a really smooth and pleasant way. The heady orange blossom note, which is highly noticeable in both the opening, the heart and the base, has some lovely partners in warm spices, sweet syrupy honey and soft vanilla - which really brings out the best in this intense flower. The scent starts off very floral, with a shy citrus twist - and moves into a much more spicy and heady floral phase. The scent keeps growing warmer, almost incense-like, and the spicy honey notes gives the floral heart a very oriental and almost regal vibe. I can easily see an arabian, maybe egyptian, queen wearing this scent. It is feminine in a powerful way - heady, desert warm and with an alluring smoothness. There is no doubt. I need a big bottle of this. It is absolutely gorgeous!

I found my new favorite orange blossom! I say orange blossom, but there's a lot more going on than that. The jasmine is quite prominent, featuring both the green and indolic aspects of the flower. The combination of ylang-ylang and honey sweetens the orange blossom note. Also, there is a green-ish note that blends with the citrus top notes to create an effect that's a lot like petitgrain. Very natural smelling, unlike compositions like Serge Lutens' fleur d'oranger it's less sophisticated and almost naturopathic. If it wasn't for the niche price point, I would recommend it to quite a few "hippie" identifying individuals. Not a criticism by any means, but it smells more earthy and herbal than the smell of natural orange blossom. More natural than natural you could say.

I have to admit that there is a similarity with the l'artisan fragrance (which I have) but only on the dry down. It is powerful on application and spicey orange! Once the alcohol has dissipated then the spice softens and you get all the neroli and jasmine. There is almost a herbal feel. I keep thinking calendula should be listed in the notes. The honey and vanilla become more evident but if you are expecting a gourmand you will be disappointed. I like it. Moderate sillage and impressive longevity considering the notes in this. I really dont like the utilitarian Montale bottles and you cant see how much is in the bottle.

First impressions: So upon first spray I can certainly detect the mandarin orange and the spices, which is very nice and somewhat refreshing. And I tend to pick up on orange bloom and again I do here and there's no sign of any ylang-ylang on my skin anyway. But I get vibes of Lancome Poeme as this is drying down maybe because of the note of honey. But I'd have to say compared to Poeme however Orange Flowers is certainly more potent compared to Poeme which to me has always seemed lighter. Hope to update this on later date once I've had more time to test this one.

Just got this today... a blind buy ^_^ I enjoy it a lot!! I see the opinions on this one are rather diverse, so here is what it smells like on my skin: Quite linear, but wonderful blend of orangeblossom and jasmin supported by a lush sweet honey note. Ylang ylang adds a somewhat tropical touch and the dry down is enriched with a delicious creamy sweet vanilla. It is not overly strong, but has a gentle presence. Longevity so far so good, 6 hours and counting. Very happy to have it in my collection ❤

What a delicious fragrance this is. Staying true to its name, the orange blossom is the star of this show, and somehow, all the other notes serve to bring the best out of orange blossom. This makes OF the perfect summertime fragrance. I have to agree with the other commenters who claim it leans a little bit to the feminine side. However, I can also imagine some dudes secure enough to rock this with confidence. A shame it got discontinued.

i was so enthusiast about this upon smellin it, but i must surrender to the fact that its'a a fragrance i'd like to smell over the body of a girl i'm doing things with, rather then smelling it over myself. i agree with sum888er

Absolute beast mode. I love it. It's sweet, warm, white floral, fresh, slightly orangey, creamy... Stays on clothes for DAYS! Absolutely worth the money.

The opening of this is kinda screechy. It’s strong and overpowering. Hard core citrusy orange blossom. The middle starts to settle into just orange blossom (mostly). The dry down is heavenly. It’s a honey vanilla that reminds me of Dama Bianca. One day I had sprayed other scents on my arm and hours later I would get a whiff of something sweet and delicious and I kept wondering which of the perfumes was giving that off. On a different day I sprayed only orange flowers and hours later it was confirmed - this was the sweet and delicious scent. I couldn’t believe how much it changed from the opening and mid scent. Also, I can smell it over 4 hours later. It is really good for lasting.

Luckily most of Montale's perfumes work well with my skin chemistry, so test it on you & see how it works! Montale's "Orange flowers" has a milky orange blossom note that I adore... I had a lemon tree once and when it started blooming, the scent it projected was very similar to this. The verdict - a nice addition to my collection - creamy orange, lemon blossom and orange blossom & crisp white fresh jasmine scent. For me it's a pleasant mood scent! P.s. It's so potent! I wear it all year round - the dosage is the key.

Ripe, lush, spiced oranges. It's a little floral, a little sweet and a little tangy. Even a little aoudish as is the case with most Montales. And definitely feminine. This fragrance is a nice balance between natural scents and perfume luxury. It reminds me of orange groves, tanned skin and warm, balmy afternoons. It smells great on my skin and its neither light nor overpowering. I wear the scent and the scent wears me. It's harmonious.

Beautiful scent.....Orange flower mixed with edible spice. The honey leans it summery for me....with the spices pulling it toward autumn. Here in the southern US this is a September fragrance for me. It suffers from the Montale curse of nonexistent staying power and sillage. I won’t repurchase for that reason. Seriously...BBW body sprays last longer.

This is a definitely feminine perfume with an emphasis on jasmine and ylang-ylang. I did not detect any citrus note and only the smallest bit of orange blossom. After a while settles into a soft vanilla skin scent. Not bad but not really anything earth-shattering. If you like white flowers, this is little different take on that.

I like it most once the strong opening fades, within an hour and a half or so. I cannot detect any specific notes, it just seems too bright and almost suffocating at first. But, it turns into this edible, comforting, enveloping scent like a honey croissant. Once a perfume shows its gourmand facet, it's a winner in my book.

This is a stunning orange blossom fragrance. The spicy notes plus the cedar keep it from leaning too feminine and in my opinion, is quite unisex. Longevity is fantastic and sillage is strong.

The spices in this one turn pretty tobacco-y on me when first spray, it feels almost like I have just left a smoking lounge. Glad that it only lasts for the first 10-15 mins or so. While I can see the scent shares the same ADN with Serge Lutens Fleurs D'oranger, Montale Orange Flowers is a more potent version with better longevity and sillage, and most important of all, without that BO note of Serge Lutens. I agree with the review by GOTVX below, that the spices prevent the fragrance from being too feminine, but at the same time, I'm not sure if this is manly enough for most men out there. This is a sticky, sweet - a bit on the cloying side - orange flower. If you want a brighter, more easy-going orange flower scent, go for Orangers en Fleurs by Houbigant or Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger by Prada.

The first hour it is a very natural scent of orange blossoms, it has no synthetic notes and Orange Flowers smells like a real bouquet of orange blossoms and jasmine. After a couple of hours, I begin to smell honey, lemon zest and spices. Dry down - jasmine tea with a huge amount of linden honey with lemon, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. It is very long lasting, almost eternal, I can spray it on my wrist in the morning, take a shower in the evening and feel the scent on my wrist even after the shower. So it can be a little cloying and heavy, especially in the warm season.

This one is so sultry! I wore Black Opium Neon just a few days ago, and where that had the lightest, sparkling orange blossom water note, the orange blossom in this is the opposite. It’s right there, in your face. It’s like nectar dripping from the flowers. It’s intoxicating. Where the orange flower in BO neon dance around you in the softest cloud, barely touching you, this one clings on your skin. This one feels like you’ve submerged yourself in it. It’s very indolic with a prominent, somewhat skanky jasmine spring it. Over time the jasmine gets more prominent while the orange flower takes more of a back seat. There’s a metallic note in it that I haven’t yet s decided I’ma fan of.. I like the sweet, intoxicating and heady opening and heart, but I’m not convinced of the dry down yet. The dry down is quite soapy on my skin and not in the best way; it leans towards stale soap. For some reason I like the manure like skankiness of a very indolic jasmine, and the armpit smell of musky and other animalic notes, but stale soap is nope territory 😂 there’s line y’all, and I draw it at soap. The stale soap note isn’t overwhelming so I will give this some time macerate and some more tries to wear it. The stale soap smell and metallic note vaguely remind me of Maroussia, albeit they’re less intense here and that scares me as Maroussia gives me migraines from hell and makes me feel sick, like about to throw up sick, so I’m hoping this one won’t trigger that. I think this is more of a fall winter scent, although I heavily associate orange blossom and jasmine with summer and heat. I’ve smelled them mostly in the august heat in the south of France, so part of me wants to smell this in summer.. being such a heady fragrance (which in all fairness is the magic of jasmine and orange blossom especially in the summer) I’m fairly certain it will be way too heady, heavy and cloying in summer, so perhaps early fall would work. Late summer nights on more breezy days may work too (that actually sounds like a dream). This is quite spicy but the spiciness feels somewhat artificial, probably because I can’t tell which spices I’m smelling, It’s a bit of a generic kinda spicy cinnamon like, bot not really cinnamon smell. There’sa tad of fresh green note in the opening that I like (I’m guessing zesty lemon mixed with patchouli), but later it evolves into the metallic note I’m not keen on. The musk in this is soapy and powdery in the opening and heart (later the soapiness goes still and loses its charm. I can’t detect the Oakmoss, I feel there’s more of a homeopathic amount of it in this.. I’m sorry this review is so chaotic.. anyway this fragrance is for people who like intense, heady, indolic florals. You will smell very strongly of orange flower and jasmine. If you’rea fan of both I recommend giving this a try. Like others have said: this definitely leans feminine. I don’t think that should stop anyone from trying it, just know that it’s very heavy on the sweet white florals and since it has nuclear strength, applying this lightly is not in the cards 😆

Update: sadly I can’t wear this, because it triggers migraines. I think it’s the same metallic note that is also in Maroussia and Lancôme Poeme and also in Oscar de La Renta Celebration. I don’t know which note it is, because I have no problems with any of the listed notes in other perfumes. Be careful if you’re sensitive to migraines and test before buying. The fragrance itself is lovely although heady and intense.

I am bored Montale misleading unisex titles. this is not unisex, this is a women's fragrance. This is not the unisex kind of orange smell i imagined. I love orange and vanilla, but this is just synthetic flower smelling female parfume with a little bit of honey. By the way it is very nice on women, and i love the design and the bottle color.

A very spicy white floral fragrance. Quite warm and bitter at the same time. It's strong. I agree with the reviewer before me, that it's not that outstanding. Strong and bitter jasmine, some honey, but no sweetness. Lots of spices, almost makes me sneeze. There are better ones.

Very sweet orange blossom, very feminine. Reminiscent of Serge Luten's Fleurs d'oranger in the opening, very natural smelling but it quickly becomes very sugary. I can't smell anything animalic nor spicy in the drydown: just orange flowers and sweet notes.

Unimaginable for a man. Extremely feminine. Won't fit for a young lady, but for a dame.

There are very few flowery notes that I like when they are well distinctive in perfume and orange blossom is one of them. Fleurs D’Oranger by SL has been my favourite for a long time and I’m testing a bit of others out there including some retro fantasy cocktail beauties like Fracas and Narcisse Noir. Perhaps my nose had been spoilt by those masterpieces lately but when I tried Montale’s Orange Flowers it seemed cheap, plain, synthetic, bubblegummy and cloying. Those qualities become less aggressive over time but still (I’m sorry to say this but it’s sincere and without any prejudice) to me it’s a firm dislike. There are some Montale fragrances I do find well done and attractive but not this one for sure. Husband’s (knows-nothing-about-perfume intellectual introvert, favours Terre & Vetiver Tonka by Hermes) verdict: smells like an artificial overly sweet home scent.

The opening is sharp and cologne-y, but don't be fooled by the top notes. It gets stronger and thicker as it dries down. It's a very warm and honeyed orange blossom scent in the style of Elie Saab Le Parfum and Poeme. I'd say it's a decent orange blossom frag that has a retro quality to it. Well, maybe better than decent, because being an orange blossom fan myself, I'm contemplating buying it. Orange Flowers is a bit less classy than SL Fleurs d'Oranger but definitely more elegant than the tropical Intense Tiare. It must be one of the least popular Montale releases because it differs quite a lot from their other offerings. It's not Middle-Eastern, fruity or tropical. It's just a good old floral fragrance.

I feel like this is a less refined Seville L'Aube, which I actually really enjoyed. This one is just so heavy, a little screetchy, but i can see why it would really appeal to some noses. Must love a heavy jasmin and lyang, and not mind that it is also quite herbal much like Seville. Both honeyed orange flower otherwise. I think this is too heavy for the summer but maybe a good one for spring. Also gives vintage vibes just because it's so indolic.

If you want the real quality of Orange Flowers buy only original Montale and by that I mean Montale Paris, not International Design. Orange Flowers is so complex, so good in terms of quality, so longlasting. On my skin I get a huge note of rich and syrupy honeysuckle dipped in honey with an airy beautiful patchouli in the background. You don't need more than 3 sprays to fill a big room. The longevity is 7+ hours.

Not like any Montale I have sampled to date. Not the same Pierre DNA. This one is a fruity floral. There is a sharp astringent note at the top like the smell you get when you first pierce a juicy orange. About 10 minutes in it evolves into a very pleasant orange soapy scent but that doesn't last. The majority of its life toggles between bug spray and hair salon. Sad to say it is not a Montale I vibe with.

Beautiful orange blossom perfume, jasminy with a spoon of honey and depth of oakmoss patchouli. Way deeper than I expected, not just a citrus sweet orange blossom. It leans also to neroli side, the spice mix reminds me of Guerlain Neroli Plein Sud. This is somewhere between bitter woody spiced Neroli Plein Sud and feminine honey orange blossom Elie Saab Le Parfum.

Incredibly harsh and astringent opening. If you can get past the olfactory assault that is the opening, the dry down is quite beautiful. Reminds me of Middle-Eastern desserts with the honey, orange blossom, citrus, and spices. Delicious fragrance, and perfectly exemplifies what a “beast mode” fragrance is meant to be.

To me this is extremely sweet (as opposed to the last reader) interesting how opinions differ, I get a very sweet jasmine / orange / honey fragrance with vanilla and musk. Very nice, though not particularly outstanding to me either, no crazy notes - which are often what make perfumes really unique and edgy.

Orange blossom, vanilla and honey is what you get the most here, certainly feminine and on the mature side, 35 years onwards I dare say. Performs very powerfully. Spring/fall fragrance. It's discontinued now, but you'll still find bottles floating around here and there.

this is definitely not a mens scent. way too feminine. Orange and orange and flowers but these. not neroli. very nice parfume to smell a young girl wearing it. it smells so sexy on a girl that you would like to huge her all the time. I ll buy a bottle for my girlfriend.

On me, this turns out to be a orange blossom skank bomb. Honey, oakmoss,musk,neroli and a touch of oud give it its sexy base. If you missed SL Fleur D'Orangers skankiness layer it with this. Some will love it others wont..but you wont be forgotten wearing it.

Not as sophisticated and complex as I expected it to be. Doesn't smell bad, its very orange-honey-white floral. I don't get any spice or cedar or patchouli. It's wearable, and I don't hate it. I guess my expectations were too high.

I get a blast of jasmine, eventually changing to white flower, not orange blossom. I don't like wearing either, but if that's what you're into, try it- it's a high quality frag. Smells very natural, no chemical or fake edge.

This is basically a feminine cologne judging by notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine, vanille and oakmoss. A seemingly floral-based product that may not fancy my attention!

Very similar to lust by LUSH...a jasmine/orange blossom explosion which is great if you love that kind of thing otherwise beware

Not at all pleasant - I love strong aromas but this is a heavy, cloying thing with a chypre type background. Nasty.
