Legend Red

I like the review below. I agree. This is bold - sharp citrus and wood opening. Very aromatic. Not a “light summer citrus”. Frankly, I think this has enough oomph to shine in warm and cold weather. It is mass appealing - and for good reason - it smells great. I’d heard that it resembles paco ultra red - I’m not seeing that. Ultra red is so sweet - and this isn’t. Maybe it’s the bottle? I also don’t get the connection with PDM kalan...that’s quite heavy and earthy with a touch of that MFK baccarat rouge sweetness. Again - maybe it’s the bottle. This is a citrus dominant - spicy aromatic scent. I like it a lot and recommend it. On second thought - maybe there is a touch of kalan here. Just not the earthiness or deep sweetness that kalan has. Regardless, great scent. Easy to wear - rad bottle. 7/10

Legend Red is a very likeable cologne. If you get it at a reasonably low price, it's a very safe blind buy and a great dumb reach. Many reviewers describe it as generic, but I actually think it has some personality & more than your average "red" marketed scent. The opening is very citrusy with an emphasis on the orange, but it has a potent peppery scent that makes it unique. The dry down is a warm woody accord that's fresh enough to be worn year round in whatever season or temperature. It has decent longevity of maybe 6 hours but not much projection. Feel free to spray generously. If this one lasted and projected better I'd really love it, but even with pretty average performance I still like it a lot and find myself incorporating it often when I want a traditional fresh masculine vibe.

If you like Bleu de Chanel parfum you will love this. Very very similar especially in the dry down. Totally inoffensive and immediately likable with an addictive top note that always forces me to overspray just so I can huff this intoxicating juice. I have too many fragrances ranging from $10-$400 and this makes me as excited to spray as any of them. And the excellent price makes the mediocre performance less of an issue as I just overspray it. 9/10 only because of performance which isn’t horrible just not as strong as I wish it was. Is this a unique, crazy, wild and offensive, off putting niche fragrance with eternal longevity? No. Is it absolutely great smelling from beginning to end for a great price? Yes. Criminally underrated.

Not the world's biggest mont blanc fan, but this is absolutely top notch. The woodsy notes tied in with the citrus is almost perfect. Very aromatic , this for me is a perfect cooler weather scent , it's heavier than you may expect and I actually love that . Not a scent I'd wear in the summer at all, but fall, winter, evenings on cooler nights, this is perfect. For me easily the best in the Legend line. I found other Legends ok, not bad just ok. But this smells exceptional ,and has great performance, sillage etc can't ask for much more honestly from a good fragrancefragrance. Also a great blind buy candidate. Other than folks who want to smell like the inner lining of a sasquatchs ass, most should really like this alot.

I never layer, but when I do I try to make sure it makes sense for some reason or another. I had stumbled upon a nice layering by dumb luck with Legend Red, I had forgotten that I sprayed it on my arm to test it out (it's been sitting on my shelf barely sprayed for 3 years) and I was going through my samples from Nordstrom and Sephora that I've amassed over the years and cane across Ebene Fume. I sprayed the Ebene Fume over the Legend Red that I applied about five minutes previously. It's amazing. It wouldn't have to be Ebene Fume, and it wouldn't have to be Legend Red, but the sharp citrus and shower gel that you could get from many options and the incense and woods you can get from many options works together.

This one has the DNA of middle school boy's body sprays, but in the best way. It's nostalgic but with better performance and quality than those fragrances we used in middle school. Honestly, I couldn't make out a single note more than another, it's a relatively generic woody masculine scent. That being said, the drydown is incredible. It blends with my body chemistry to just smell like my musk, but if my musk were delicious and incredible. I know this is a weird thing to say but some men have a pleasant, but slightly vaginal body odor. After a few hours this smelled exactly like that. I like it, but I could see someone else finding it gross.

So good. So masculine and easy to wear. I enjoy it very much: no headache, not overpowering, not cloying. A light and smooth citrus opening — fresh — followed by a soft woody dry-down. Perfect for relaxing on the couch in the evening, for a morning walk, or for an afternoon with a beer. Even to stay in a man cave with wood on the walls and trees out from the window. Fresh air, clean wood. A perfect dad fragrance. Love it. P.S.: If you like dark, ambery, oriental, and cloying scents — stay away.

Love this one. It's richly woody but fresh thanks to the citrus and sage, and makes a fantastic easy dumb reach. Safe and inoffensive, but it still has a lot of charm and personality to me. The performance is good but not great, and it's an all-season all-occasion kind of scent. It's one in my collection that's easy to forget about, but every time I go back to it I'm reminded how much I like it. Well worth the reasonable price.

Not something I will say very special or groundbreaking but it just smells good, like really good, and nobody is going to be offended by it. I think it really works well in summer (can't comment on other seasons as I'm living in a summer-only country) and any occasions. Very underrated and personally my favorite out of the whole legend line. Fresher, sweeter and not so intense like the Legend EDP.

At first it reminded me of davidoff hot water, then reminded me of la nuit de l'homme for a brief moment, and settled into this beautiful stationary or library kind of smell. It's elegant in the manliest way possible. I'm hooked. It has decent longevity on my skin, i put 2 sprays on my wrist and 3-4 hours later i can still smell it. Not the best, but it's enough for me.

My favourite of the legend line by far has been spirit, although this is just as captivating! A citrus woody opening that dries down into a gorgeous stack of woods - it’s love! I bought this morning and it is worn well throughout the day. 6hours later and still on my skin. A winner! Normally wouldn’t go for something as woody as this, but I’m in love

I broke this out again for the first time in a while and I don’t know why I don’t wear it more. It projected enough to get a mention from a coworker 2 hours after I put it on. It’s a perfect office scent and would also be good for just about anything else...maybe not the club but I’m old and don’t do that anymore.

Beautiful designer scent, clean fresh office friendly. Only lasts 6 hours (even with layering on top of lotion 🧴). Great cheap pickup at your local TJ maxx /burlington / discounter sites. Can usually find 100ml for ~$35 Easy wear, easy reach, not mind blowing but the grapefruit opening is nice.

Really nice. A casual, pleasant, breezy scent. Perfect balance of citrus and woodsy notes. Rich, natural, and calming. Slightly sweet. This could work in all seasons but it would be especially good for fall and winter.

It’s a dumb easy reach. The gorgeous citrus blast of the opening fades to a more generic shower gel fragrance but it’s clean inoffensive and great for day to day. I prefer it to Original explorer

If you want a fragrance that makes women around you to complement that scent of yours this Montblanc Legend is a good investment. It’s fresh, sexy and lasts long. What else would you need?

Close to being a top 5 for me but projection is a little low and drydown is a synthetic creed viking. Cherry coke with spices

What a pleasant surprise! Honestly, I have *very* low expectations for Montblanc perfumes as they usually (with the exception of Starwalker, which I adore) make perfumes for 'mature' people, and I am not a fan of mature scents or scents that smell like 200-year molded furniture in Cambridge, England. I was initially quite wary about blind buying any Montblanc perfumes due to the reason aforementioned, and to top it off, I had a rather bad experience with the overhyped Legend Spirit (the white bottle) so naturally my expectations were as low as they could be for this one. But... I am also a victim of good designs and flashy bottles, and boy did they nail it with Legend Red. It's so bright Ferrari red that I could hardly resist, plus, I was able to get one at a pretty decent price from Montblanc official online shop in Thailand, so I gave it a go. At least I wouldn't regret the bottle, if nothing else, and the notes looked appealing enough for me, so... The perfume came. I opened the beautiful red box to uncover a gorgeous red bottle (I don't have any bright red bottle fragrances in my collection, you see) and gave it a try. It exceeded my expectations. I know that my bar set for it was very low so almost anything would exceed my expectations, but it did so in such a way that I wouldn't mind wearing it every now and then, and this alone is saying a lot. The woody strangely overpowers the citrus here, but I can definitely smell the citrus underneath. It's not a heavy scent, thankfully, and thus I wouldn't classify it as 'mature' (again, thankfully). Perhaps this is why many below complained about its 'poor performance' whilst I don't mind at all. Yes, there is that Legend Spirit DNA in here, too, but it's not as pungent and it just smells... better. Normally I am against the idea of fragrances having genders but I would not recommend women to wear this one even though the bottle would surely attract all genders. It's quite clearly a man's fragrance, suitable for most daytime occasions in the spring and fall. I believe it would not trigger any unwarranted red flags or nausea unless you bathe in it. Longevity is moderate. Sillage is quite low, close to the skin, which I appreciate. All in all, I am glad I got this one eventually. I was eyeing on it since it was released (though paradoxically with low expectations) as I was attracted to the bottle design and that bright red colour. To learn that the scent works for me is truly a blessing. Yes, some might say it smelt generic and nonesuch, but still, it exceeded my expectations remarkably. Give it a try if you can. At least it's much more affordable than their pens, watches, and bags.

I like this one but don’t love it and I think if this has a few adjustments to it that it could be a top tier fragrance, however this has a beautiful opening but while it’s still good in the mid and drydown it just doesn’t compare to the opening (which I know the purpose of this is to be a money grab) Again the opening to this is beautiful as it has a beautiful citrus note that’s clean but also has just the right amount of sweetness to be appealing but also stand out and be slightly different ! However, once this dries down it’s still good but loses that beautiful citrus and dies down to a more flat,dull,woodier version of the opening ! In the mid and drydown this just becomes boring to me and although pleasant I’d still prefer to wear something else that’s either more pleasant or unique. Performance on this is by far the least out of any Mont Blanc I own as they all have very good performance except this one. Legend Red lasts me 4-5 hours with only decent projection for 30 minutes before becoming a faint skin scent. Decent scent that I can see someone that isn’t into colognes making this a signature scent as it’s very pleasant but if you have an experienced nose this is a pass as there are many better “mass appealing “ colognes out there Overall rating -6.5 out of 10 ! Love the opening but not a fan of the other aspects of the fragrance

Very nice but unoriginal scent that in the drydown smells like a banger discontinued scent(that scent being mahogany woods) In the opening you get a fresh,uplifting juicy semi sweet citrus scent (that reminds me of a mix between polo red and Versace flame) However, once this dries down that juicy citrus dissipates and the mahogany comes out making this more of a woody,sweet scent that at this stage the first time I wore this I knew this smelled like a bath and body works scent but I wasn’t sure which until I looked at the notes on fragrantica and I saw this had mahogany. So of course then it made sense that what I was smelling was reminiscent of mahogany woods !! Mont Blanc Red could have easily been a Mahogany woods sport as it’s more citrusy as Mahogany woods was about Vanilla and Mahogany. So this isn’t a clone but something that’s pretty similar. Performance- it lasted me 4-6 hours with moderate projection Overall rating -7 out of 10 !! One of the better scents of the more recent releases but still won’t be a favorite of mine anytime soon. I do love that mahogany note though

First thoughts - I wasn't bowled over upon first sniff but I got a tiny free sample from a store. Well, trying it again I like it more now, the opening is super bright and energising, it doesn't particularly smell like fresh blood orange to me but it is a slightly different citrus than usual, a little deeper almost as if there's a rhubarb accord mixed in there. Imagine L'Homme Lacoste (original or Intense) combined with CK Euphoria men, an Azzaro Chrome flanker (as someone mentioned below) and a touch of the original Legend or EDP. There are perhaps slight similarities with L'Homme Rochas but to me apart from the immediate opening that one is sweeter and smoother, focusing more on the amber in the dry down. I'm a huge fan of Legend Spirit (also own and like Legend Intense) but I'm not in a rush to add Legend Red to my collection, not right now anyway. It's not bad at all just doesn't wow me enough to warrant a FB, likeable though and worth checking out. I'm still hoping for a Legend Spirit EDP one day! :D

Montblanc Legend with a woody, citrusy twist. Legend Red (LR) takes the same original Legend's (OGL) fresh base, the A&F Fierce base, and hides it behind hefty doses of citruses and wood. Fresh, zesty citruses, mainly grapefruit, woodied up with beautiful saffron-y mahogany wood, and an unfortunately generic fresh woody accord of tonka, cedar, and juniper. The combination is spiced up very lightly with soft cardamom juniper berries, and all is built on a faint fresh base of the OGL of sage, juniper, and citruses. Woody, citrusy, lightly-spicy, fresh, slightly green and aromatic. My hopes for this one were higher but I was a little let down by the scent. The generic woody accord takes away from RL's beauty. Nonetheless, this is worth re-visiting for me as I find the saffron-y woody accord's clash with citruses quite nice, and I do like OGL's fresh DNA faint in the background. A warm-to-neutral weather scent. Good performance. Don't get your hopes up for this one but it is still decently "Likeable".

This is a solid buy! I got 100 ml for $30 off of discounters and I couldn't be happier for that price. Retail has currently got this priced at $115 before tax. You could wear this anywhere at almost any time of the year. To me, it's best suited for the summer. It has a pleasant sweet woodiness that won't offend anyone. Average sillage and longevity. I don't get the comparisons with K EDT or K EDP whatsoever. Sometimes I wonder if people actually smell similarities or see similar notes on fragrantica and make comparisons off of that. They both have blood orange at the top with juniper berries, clay sage, & cedar. I'm wearing both side by side and I can't say they smell similar. Both concentrations of K have something a little bit harsh in them which I can understand why many people wouldn't like them. K EDT almost has a wet paint smell to me. This one is smooth and pleasant all the way through. At $30 you seriously can't go wrong with a fragrance like this. Do yourself a favor and pick it up!

My girlfriend picked this one out for me.To me it's a fresh woody fragrance, with a litte spice — pleasant, not intrusive and probably suitable for most occasions and seasons because of that. Perhaps a bit too conform for the youngest audience, I'd say late twenties+. The notes smell pretty well balanced to me. I find it shines in humid and cold spring/summer, probably in the fall as well. For sure a pretty safe "blind buy/dumb reach", as a lot of people have already said. I won't be buying this again though, because it's an EDP and even after generous sprays in all the usual places, this apparently evaporates on my skin in about three hours. In the afternoon there's barely any, or no evidence at all I put anything on in the norning. Might just be my skin for sure, but I would recommend testing it on your own to make sure it lasts at least a bit longer than it does on mine before buying it.

This is such a conflicting fragrance for me because I absolutely LOVE the scent profile. The sweetness, the spices, the woodiness, all of it is just so pleasant for me. To me this is perfect for all seasons except Summer (I live in a very hot climate so this could be different in a temperate climate.) The downside is truly a big one, the performance. I find that I have bad skin chemistry and I generally don't get good performance on all my frags but this one is especially disappointing. The initial blood orange opening lasts about 15 mins and after like 2 hrs, on my skin, this is undetectable. This is not strong enough to make me go noseblind so I know it's not that. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I didn't like the scent so much. Alas, I'd never get rid of it but it may end up being a frag I spray on a strip when I feel like smelling it and not really for wearing.

As should be expected for fragrances in the Montblanc Legend line, this is very pleasant, unisex, mass appealing, but not in any way groundbreaking. Fresh, aromatic, youthful, versatile. A good first fragrance, but there are probably dozens of things from A&F, Azzaro Chrome, Nautica, etc. that will be very close to this. Mostly aromachemicals, done well, but the cedar won't smell like a sauna or a pencil, the grapefruit doesn't smell like an actual grapefruit, and the sage/cardamom note is sweetened to resemble a candy apple. If you are a fragrance collector, if you love unique and challenging scents, this isn't going to be your thing. But if you are just starting out, or are in high school or college and just need something that will work for most seasons or occasions, and like getting the occasional compliment, this will work for you nicely.

First of all - do not pay retail for this one. I got a 100 ml bottle with a 10 ml mini bottle and a deo stick for €40 and it's a great deal. Other than that, it's a surprisingly good fragrance and I don't get the hate and the dismissive comments. For example, it's way better than the uncle pleaser Legend Blue that's being hyped for some reason. It's fresh, aromatic, and memorable. It's not basic, as so many uncles here say. It has the easy-wearing vibe of a basic fragrance, but it's so much better than that. You can wear it year-round, so it's very versatile, and it's a very safe blind reach unlike many other Montblanc fragrances (Explorer, I'm looking at you). Longevity isn't very good, though, at least on my skin, but nothing has good longevity on my skin, tbh. Still, don't expect "beast mode" out of this one. It just smells good.

Had purchased a 30ml bottle at the local marshalls.. Montblanc has been a house that I've been interested in. The legend line has been in my radar for quite some time. with that said purchasing this bottle to test out in everyday situations. It's proven to be a very formidable choice for the everyman. While the profile isn't exactly the most unique. The Top notes of blood orange, oozes this vibrancy that demands attention without clawing the others in the room. Juicy & punchy opening, with an beautiful dry down. Seeing is that it becomes a skin scent quickly. It actually benefits bcoz the dry down is so good. Long lasting skin scent into the next time you shower. Recommend the smaller bottle to keep on you. Bigger bottle if its for overspraying. It won't offend anyone. The Mahogany is the MVP of this one. 7.9/10

This is basic in the best possible way. I really enjoy simple scents like this one. Despite having more complex and better smelling ones in my collection, this one is just so safe for work or for when you want a scent but not one that commands attention like other frags. Mont Blanc is far from my favorite house, but red, explorer, and individuel all appeal to me, explorer was one of my first ever fragrances in highschool but I have yet to repurchase it 6 years later. I have red because I found it at tjmaxx for $20 for the little 30 ml, and I love to collect the mini looking bottles. Banger, blind buy it, try to find it at tjmaxx, don’t buy it at Macys please, for that price you can get something way better with more character. If this was a Louis Vuitton fragrance, it would be more popular

Perfume delicioso. Esa salida fresca cítrica con ese toque de cardamomo hace que sea realmente del gusto de prácticamente todo el mundo. El secado es dulce, con ese toque aún presente de maderas. Perfume jovial, alegre. Transmite muy buena vibra. Perfecto en verano, primavera. Talvez otoño pero en días algo templados. En frío se va a desvanecer muy rápido. Cómo fragancia firma para el día a día es una cuestión de gusto personal diría yo aunque si iría muy bien. Botella preciosa. Longevidad baja llegando a unas 4-5 horas y proyección media. Pero todos sabemos que son contados los perfumes de diseñador que duran y proyectan mucho en la actualidad. Muy recomendado aún así. Perfecta compra a ciegas. Buen precio. 8.5/10 por la baja duración y estela nada mas

Don't have one yet but it would be my next buy if I had the funds for it and urgently needed a summer perfume. I've been dreaming of it ever since the sales girl in one of my local stores forced me to try on skin. Usually they don't know much about fragrances and just make random suggestions to customers based on the little they know or on which brand is paying them a commission at the moment. Upon the sales girl's insistence I relented and gave it a go and... surprise, I think it smells delicious. Not as distinctive as the Starwalker I have at the moment, but this base notes combination is to die for. Rare example of a frag that gets off to a hesitant start but then gets better by the hour :)

I received this for Christmas from my wife. It is a fresh spicy scent that is a bit generic... I feel that the woodsy and spicy notes feel synthetic. I like the opening quite a bit... the middle clary sage is the most noticeable. I do not get any Tonka Bean in the base, but the Cedar is present. I do not know what Mahogany smells like. I have a piece of mahogany furniture. I smelled it and can only smell pledge. This doesn't smell like pledge. I will use this as a day scent but not for occasions where I'm trying to get noticed. It is pretty versatile and would say that you can wear it any season during the day. It feels too fresh for an evening scent. Smell 3/5 Longevity 4/5 Sillage 3/5

It is a lovely scent. It is nothing groundbreaking, but that is most Montblanc fragrances. Having smelled it in the store, my first thought was that "it smells nice." Nothing groundbreaking as you expect from Montblanc fragrances. It reminds me of a combination of Legend edt and K edt. The longevity was surprisingly long-lasting on my skin. Don't recommend if you own k edt or k edp. I own k edp, and it feels like a redundant purchase, but the dry-down is different enough to make me want to keep it. The dry down is beautiful and my favorite part. As the user below mentioned, I can see the dry-down resembling Blue de Chanel Parfum.

Like all Mont Blanc Legend frags, just wait out the hype and buy on the low. This is a very good smelling fragrance but it's just such a mix of other things that it lacks a wow factor. I just grabbed it for $29 full box presentation which is where this should be and not the full retail $115. If you need a versatile fragrance that smells good, is all season and for any dress up or down situation you can't go wrong with this one. Total blind buy worthy and covers all of the bases. Nice blood orange and sage scent with a slight woody undertone smoothed out by cardamom. You can't go wrong.

Don't get the hate or low rating. Is it a generic citrus fragrance, not unlike many others? Sure. But it's extremely well priced, very pleasant in the opening, and an incredibly safe blind buy and office scent. I actually was in Macy's a couple months back smelling some samples, and out of everything in their array of fragrances to test, this one struck me as the nicest overall. I actually went out and bought 9 bottles for my employees for Xmas! Is it a stunning, unique, niche fragrance that smells like piss and cumarin? No, and maybe that's why the snobs dunk on it.

You can safely blind buy this office scent. It is versatile enough to be worn in most seasons. I don't think it is strong enough for winter wear, and at the price this will likely land at once it hits discounters, it will be a good deal. It reminds me of a couple of other colognes I own, Hugo Boss Energise and Polo Red, both inoffensive scents. The opening is citrussy, but there is a synthetic quality to the woodsy notes. I like the dry down as it smells clean, but it does not project for very long. I do not get much Tonka. Smell 3/5 Longevity 2/5 Sillage 3/5

Slightly sweeter. Slightly more citrus. Slightly lighter version of the original. Just like the rest of the line, they don't stray too far away from the original DNA. The opening is the best where you get that big hit of sweet citrus. Soon after it settles down into a lighter fruity, woody scent of the original. All in all this smells good. It shouldn't offend anyone. Performance is on par with the rest, around 5-6 hours. Could be worn year round. Seems best suited for cooler weather. This is one for anyone that just wants to smell good.

It actually smells really good and the juniper keeps it fresh. It is not overloaded with tonka or sweet notes. They could have named this "Sport" and gotten away with it. It's aggressive but unremarkable. Don't expect the mahogany to make this stand out. It smells like 40 other perfumes made in the last decade and the performance is average. This is a ~$30-range day scent. Please do not pay more for it than that. It is completely redundant if you have anything out of the "reminds me" section.

A mulled spice version of Legend. It's a bit sweeter too. Kind of just reminds me of Polo Red or Old Spice deodorants. Legend is my favorite to smell on my boyfriend but Legend Red can be a good fall and winter variety to feel comfy and spicy. Just like Legend this is work and office safe and a good blind buy. Sillage is good; when my boyfriend is in the car with me I can smell the fragrance the whole time and if we go shopping the scent trails alongside him. Longevity is good also.
