« Vêtu de Vert » is a pun in French referring to « Vetiver » » and which means « dressed in green ». This 6th fragrance by Motif Olfactif and created by Mr Oz is his interpretation of Vetiver in a fragrance. He wanted to create a Spring and Summer fragrance which would not be too heavy on skin with irreproachable performances, a fresh fragrance that could be worn on both hot and cooler weather. This fragrance is composed of Vetiver, Yuzu, bergamot, cypress, oakmoss, frankincense, cedar wood, Indian Sandalwood, myrrh, patchouli, clean wet soil, Hinoki wood, ylang, jasmine and neroli. He used 3 types of vetiver (Haitian vetiver, Vetiver Bourbon from the Reunion Island and Vetiver from Paraguay). The fragrance opens with a sparkling citrusy note of bergamot combined with yuzu. Then, it become Lemony, smoky, green, grassy and earthy at the same time. The Frankincense reinforce this lemony aspect and it is supported by the woody notes of Sandalwood and cedar wood. The first thing that came to my mind when I took a deep smell of the fragrance was the smell of a sativa lemon haze flower and it reminded me of joyful days when I was a young occasional pothead.😊🤦🏽♂️ The fragrance stays linear from that point and longevity is about 5 hours on my skin with a moderate projection and pleasant sillage. Vetiver is my favorite note and it was blended in this fragrance to give the authentic, natural, earthy and realistic smell of real vetiver. I am a West African like my brother Oz and in my country vetiver is called « Khamaré » or « Gongolili ». These vetiver roots are used to scent the water and also for their disinfectant, antiseptic and aphrodisiac properties. I really like the way this authentic smell was preserved because it is what gives this perfume all its originality and its niche character which does not try to please everyone. For the price of $95.00, this is definitely bang for the buck and I recommend it to true vetiver and green scent lovers who are looking for a quality versatile fragrance to wear anytime of the year for formal occasion and spiritual upliftings. In the opening, I get a blast of gin and celery (probably bergamot and sharp geranium combined with the evaporation of the alcohol). Quickly after it blooms with a juicy yuzu, supported by ylang-ylang and a hint of florals. Then, in the drydown, the citruses tones down and it will (very) slowly morph into a dry hay-ish vetiver supported by a freshly cut dusty cedar and cypress. Projection is great in the first two hours before falling to moderate/low, while the longevity is above average - a performance as expected for an extrait concentration. The early opening reminds me of LV Theseus (with its celery note), then transforms into a pure yuzu centered fragrance, and drydowns in a way shockingly similar to Etro Vetiver. Etro Vetiver costs half the price/ml compared to MO VdV, but totally lacks the beautiful celery/yuzu top/heart of VdV - even if it's nothing really new afterall. That said, despite I love them both, I could not imagine having any of these as a daily wear, because of their "greyness" (especially in the drydown). I'd recommend getting both, but vetiver beginners might want to look for a "brighter" type of vetiver fragrance Overall: highly recommended to vetiver addicts. Bravo, Mr Oz! Sampling the latest release from Oswald Pare’s house, Motif Olfactif – Vetu de Vert. As the name might suggest, it’s a vetiver-dominant fragrance, pleasantly midway between fresh and smoky. There is a long list of woody contributors—cypress, oakmoss, cedar, sandalwood, and hinoki wood—as well as frankincense, bergamot, neroli, yuzu, ylang ylang, and jasmine, so there are citruses and florals to provide some brightness. VDV is really a story of both light and dark being present together. It’s not simply the case that it starts out fresh and ends smoky; it’s really a bit of both from the onset. It’s strong, dense, and leans toward the smoky but is really a good blend. It’s a little sharper at the opening and a little smoother in the dry down, but overall, it does not evolve a ton. The performance of VDV is very good, and it’s actually the most modestly-priced of the collection, $95 for 50ml at extrait concentration. Motif Olfactif’s fragrances are only sold through the house site, as far as I can tell, and most are in stock; Mon Oasis is sold out. 8 out of 10

This is one of Motif Olfactif's best, along with Serenade, Mon Oasis and Murmure Chypre. Citrusy fresh...earthy...rooty vetiver, slightly smoky...has a soapy fresh aspect. This combines multiple respected vetiver scents into one, in my opinion: Encre Noire/Sport, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Guerlain Vetiver. Fragrance perception is subjective of course...but in my opinion, I'd feel pretty comfortable having this scent as the one and only vetiver scent in a person's collection.

First impression of the Ruh Khus (vetiver) flanker: extremely natural perfumery, like you are smelling the ingredients in your hands. High quality vetiver with cypress and and touch of citrus is mainly what I get. Reminds me of a greener and more natural TDH if I had to draw a comparison. The hinoki wood can sometimes smell like soy but here gives it that same flint type vibe in TDH. Very green, lots of cypress, minty geranium. Awesome when I'm in the mood for green

One of the best vetiver fragrances out there, period. Rugged and mature but still fresh smoky and vibrant. Great blending skills from the perfumer.

If you love green fragrances, and you love vetiver, and you are a seasoned nose, Fly and grab one. Stupendous!

Distinguished. Green. Smoky but fresh. To me this reminds me of my grandfather who was a war hero in Korea. When smelling this fragrance I think of that type of man. Someone who went to war when they were young and are now distinguished members of their community. This really does smell good, and I would say decidedly masculine. Oz once again shows a great balancing touch when riding that line between smoky vetiver and that fresh green grass feel. If you've smelled Mon Oasis and Murmure Chypre you will know this is a Motif Olfactif fragrance. I may just be this brands biggest fan.

Amazing green forest opening that smells 'somewhat' tropical using vetiver, a bitter citrus accord and a slew of other facets to achieve that effect. Dries down to a slightly honeyed vetiver body with a sweet jasmine thread running through it. My guilty pleasure.

This is strong. This is potent, and it is beautiful if you enjoy vetiver. It has bite, and a little punch in the opening. It takes time for the rest of the scent to unfold and round out a bit. I do enjoy this but it's not a regular wear for me. Definitely a quality fragrance.
