Moments

This fragrance is a pretty sexy sweetened oak barrel type fragrance but leaning more towards rum than cognac. In the mid ylang-ylang will blend so beautifully with myrrh its a mesmerizing smell. Sandalwood will envelop the sweeter notes in the base and that oak like smokiness will persist throughout. Just enough oud to make it extra intriguing but many likely won't notice it too much. Very well balanced and very pleasing fragrance. And the price is fantastic. I can highly recommend this one.

This was my favorite of the 11 I sampled, all of which were pretty distinctive and out of this world. Moments is gorgeous but a bit muted - not as smoky and intense as some of the others in the collection, and the rum and cognac are so well blended with the Oak it doesn't smelll like a cocktail in any way. Reminded me of Encens de Suave by Mateire Premiere and there was another one not in the Fragrantica database (Eclat de Santal) that reminded me of Santal Austral in the opening - definitely not attempting to duplicate them in any way, but with some similar notes. There actually were several in this line that smell similar to, but better than existing scents me or my partner has. This would be a great cool weather daily fragrance. I plan to pick it up as my next fragrance gift for my partner. Highly recommend sampling this collection especially if you are a collector or looking for something truly unique - there are several great statement scents in here.

An admirable release from the artisanal house of Motif Olfactif. However, full disclosure: I'm not a fan of boozy scents and this is most certainly that. BUT from a more impartial perspective, my initial thoughts on this fragrance is that so far, it's the only one from the house I've smelled that reminded me of another fragrance...which, to me, looks good on the part of Motif Olfactif - I'm sure some might say otherwise but those would be the outliers who've spent more time and money to reach every last corner of the fragrance game. The rum, booze....it's the main player. Overpowers the rest of the notes to my nose. I would say there's even one aspect it shares with Serenade which I haven't quite nailed down how to describe yet - Serenade is a different smell though and dare I say a scent I like much, much more. As for the fragrance Moments reminded me of: Bentley for Men Intense. Please note it's not a clone by any means...to my nose, there is something about how the rum/booze note comes together with "woods/oak" in this fragrance that creates an aroma that immediately brought the comparison to my mind. I think Moments is definitely not as sweet and not as forceful as the Bentley scent. Ultimately, Moments is not a twin of Bentley Intense...but you could argue that they're siblings. But let me just say that is the crazy thing about being someone who puts their neck on the line to create your own fragrance. You can intentionally not set out to make an "inspired by" scent but just the way the notes you've combined smell in the air, may still create that association in a random person's mind. Such is the mystery of fragrance.
