Murmure Chypré

Starts off more floral than anything and very smooth with maybe a hint of soapiness. This is very classy. Think of a light pale jade green color. There is an elegance and a sophistication to the fragrance. After a few minutes it gets even smoother as that orris really starts coming through. I really enjoy that note and how its used here. This is a leather/floral for me, but I wouldn't call this your typical leather fragrance at all and in fact put it in pretty high esteem! The leather in here to me I think of like a shiny smooth brown leather chair. Some jasmine flowers in the room.. the window open and neroli blooming in the trees outside.. a fresh cool breeze coming in. Ahh life is good. There also some green nuances here but I would not have pinpointed it as patchouli. Possibly the marigold is contributing to this. The longer it stays on skin the more of a sensual nature peaks through which has to be the musk civet combo, but it is not animalic.. just sensual. I don't know how else to say it. Solid 8.5/10 and another great one from Oz. Something that happened with all 5 fragrances from Motif Olfactif is that each time I smell them I like them even more, which I think is a sign of real talent!

This one is the bad boy of Mr Oz’ s collection. If you love Diaghilev by Roja Dove, Chypre Palatin by Parfums MDCI, Marquis de Sade by Histoires de Parfums you must try this one. This fragrance has quality and opulence written on it. My favorite from this eccentric collection. 😊👃🏽👍🏽

Purchased the debut discovery set of samples which had all scents except for Vetu de Vert & Huaka'i. Given that these are sample vials, no comment will be made on sillage or projection. Murmure Chypre The smoothest composition of the bunch. Smells the most polished (meaning that it has a characteristic to it that would make you think it was released by a big designer or well-known niche house as opposed to the rawness & full of personality characteristic of an artisanal scent). This scent smells a little different depending on where you spray it on your body. On my chest, I get more rubber & a slight mothball vibe that's smooth (not abrasive or scratchy). On my wrists, there's more of the silkiness of the orris & a floral touch in the background. To my nose, it's hard to pick out more than a couple individual notes - this is wonderfully blended as it does come across as one big, opulent accord that is somehow not suffocating. Main highlight for me = warm, smooth, cozy, a little fuzzy, a little bit of rubber and some slight floral or musky sweetness in the background - the perfumer blended this so well On a rating scale of: Dislike Neutral Like Love Murmure Chypre = Like; this might be my favourite from the house - it can still bump up to a "Love" except that for now, this scent my have a quality that causes me to sneeze sometimes - still testing it to confirm if that's the case) YT Channel - The Scentrovert

Motif Olfactif Murmure Chypre is my fourth try from this house launched by Oswald Pare in late 2019. I sometimes overuse the phrase, “classic meets modern,” but from the initial spray, that’s the vibe I get from Murmure Chypre, a classic unisex chypre—maybe ever so slightly feminine, with its hefty use of iris/orris, alongside jasmine, musk, patchouli, leather, tobacco, oakmoss, and even civet, per the note listing—yet somehow modernized. As is often the case, the very presence of orris/iris makes them stand out to me a lot. They are, especially, in this case, the powdery sharp instruments that sing above the rest of the orchestra and lead the group. The rest of the mix mainly provides an earthy, slightly animalic, slightly dirty backdrop. I’d say I get a bit more patchouli and the musk than the rest; I don’t particularly detect much leather, tobacco, or oakmoss, though oakmoss, especially, could just be lurking the background. Murmure Chypre is dense, rich, and frankly somewhat opulent, and feels more apropos for cold weather than warm weather. At extrait concentration, Murmure Chypre is priced at $150 for 50ml, comparable to the rest of the line, and is sold only through the house website, to my knowledge. I’d certainly recommend ordering a sample set to try the original five. 7 out of 10
