Nectar Boisé

I'd received samples of Nectar Boise and Voile d'Encens with my order of Vêtu de Vert and I could not stop sniffing my wrist. I went ahead and purchased the full size bottle and I am so happy. First, let me say that these are unique and interesting fragrances, but what really strikes me about the perfumes I've gotten from Motif Olfactif so far is how evocative they are. These scents are seriously a mood. A single spray crystallizes such a distinct and intense sense of place and time in the mind's eye. Every time I smell Nectar Boise all I can imagine is sitting outside under the trees at a rough wood table with a group of close friends. You're wearing white linen. It's hot, but pleasant in the shade so you're sweating a little. Not enough to be unpleasant, but just that soft sheen that magnifies scent. As the breeze blows you can smell the salt on your skin, the wood of the table, the tang of the hide of the leather bag you're wearing and the stickiness of the peaches you're eating. Just perfection. I know there is no official leather note in this scent and maybe it's just the labdanum messing with me but to my nose I get leather--not animalic but a sweeter tanned note.The drydown of this is amazing. It's warm and sweet without being cloying at all. In short, get this perfume! Here are the official notes: fruits, cardamom, galbanum, vetiver, Sandalwood, cedar, labdanum, Vanilla, tolu balsam, patchouli. Projection and longevity are moderate on this one, so definitely more of a skin scent. I normally prefer powerhouse smell-me-from-5ft-away fragrances, but the the beauty of this makes it absolutely worth owning.

This is what Byredo Pulp wanted to be. If you've ever smelled Byredo Pulp, you will immediately purchase it. The issue with Byredo Pulp is that it falls apart and becomes perfumey. This fragrance is similar to Byredo Pulp, although Nectar Boise never falls apart. Yes, I am trying to help out a fellow youtuber, BUT everything I'm saying is true. Nectar Boise never falls apart! Nectar Boise has a stronger projection than Pulp. Nectar Boise will seem to have been lost until you walk by someone 8 hours later, and that whiff is strong, and it's the opening. This fragrance is linear IMO, but for me that's a good thing. This is my second review on this fragrance because I truly would like more to experience it. One of the best nectar/pulp type of fruity fragrances out there. Mr. Oz does offer sample packs, and I recommend you purchase one during this time we're forced to stay home. Nectar Boise will cheer you up. Mr. Miami Cuddles Peace

Have you ever eaten a peach and gotten close to the core? This fragrance has that element to it. The fruity accord lasts 5 hours on my skin, and is very lifelike. The word lifelike is the term I use because it's realistic. I know many people have claimed many fragrances are lifelike, but as a critical reviewer, some of these unnamed fragrances smelled very artificial. The term lifelike is thrown around so casually in fragcomm that it doesn't even mean anything anymore. This is lifelike, full stop. I loved everyone of the fragrances Mr. Oz concocted, and really had a difficult time choosing my favorite. If you know who Mr. Oz is, his fragrances represent his personality, His fragrances are clean, soft spoken, unobtrusive and then 8 hours later when you least expect it, a huge sillage blast comes to life, and it smells like pure class. Nectar Boise is warmer weather fragrance.

This fragrance opens up with a juicy blend of what I believe is mango and pineapple, but I get some apricot/peachy tones to it as well. Very pleasing. That transitions into more green notes coming mostly from galbanum probably and a slight spice from cardamom. The further into the development of the fragrance the more the woods come into play, though you can pick them up early on. The fruitiness doesn't fade quickly either, just the longer it wears the more you pick up on. Oz shows a great balancing touch in his fragrances and this one rides that unisex line very well in my opinion. I quite enjoy this fragrance and think it would work best in spring. Very easy to wear and a happy feeling type of scent.

Motif Olfactif Nectar Boise is my final try of the original quintet of releases in my sample set from this new house launched near the end of 2019 by Oswald Pare. Nectar Boise is fruity, resinous, and woody, as its name suggests, a mix of fruits, galbanum, labdanum, tolu balsam, vetiver, vanilla, and woods. It has a certain honeyed vibe that is inviting, but it also has some bite to it, as well, though I can’t place it, apart from perhaps the concentration of resins—the galbanum, in particular, if I had to guess. It’s plenty fruity, a hard-to-define mix, but the fruits and resins are most of the story. It’s not uncannily sweet, either. The other elements (several resins, woods, and vetiver) keep the fruits in check, and it feels reasonably balanced, in that respect. Its concentration is EDP and its pricing is comparable to the rest of the line, at $130 for 50ml. Like the rest of the line, Nectar Boise is fairly rich and dense and a good performer. The ingredients feel high-quality / somewhat natural, and it’s a nice blend, overall. I’m happy to have tried out the initial five offerings from this house and look forward to continue to try the new releases that follow. 7 out of 10

A load of very ripe tropical fruits on a bed of moss and some light woody notes. Reminds me of Sophia Grojsman's Precriptives Calyx from the 80s, and though the fruit in Calyx also smelled ripe and slightly on the verge, I recall it being more tart (passion fruit? citrus?). I can see the Pulp reference as well- also a similar fruity-chypre genre. Nectar Boisé is decidedly sweeter to me and much more natural smelling. And to me it has a vintage vibe, which isn't a bad thing. I also compared it to Bruno Fazzolari's limited and d/c Fontevraud which has a similar fruity to mossy progression.

Purchased the debut discovery set of samples which had all scents except for Vetu de Vert & Huaka'i. Given that these are sample vials, no comment will be made on sillage or projection. Nectar Boise If you are someone who eats tropical fruits or melons, the opening of this would remind you of the ripe version of these types of fruits. I could also picture someone thinking this smells like dried, sweet & sour candy (e.g. sweet & sour gummy bears or other candy you'd get at a bulk food store). This is the predominant smell of this scent for most of it's life but as the scent wears on, the fruitiness slowly recedes and you get a woodiness that steps forward. The ripe fruitiness never goes away completely. These scents are artisanal in nature - they don't smell close to anything a designer house or a well-known niche house would put out. In other words, they smell very natural, even raw at times. With that comes a lot of character which is worth exploring as you can sense that the self-taught perfumer (much respect to Mr. OZ!) has a signature feel to all of his scents. That also means you can't blind buy these - you must sample them first. Main highlight for me = smell a mainstream designer fragrance with a predominant fruity accord and then smell Nectar Boise next to it; the raw, natural quality of Motif Olfactif will truly shine through On a rating scale of: Dislike Neutral Like Love Nectar Boise = Neutral; it's a good introduction to what this house is like but you can tell it was made in a way that would be palatable to a new consumer YT Channel - The Scentrovert

I suspect I amp vetiver because it often takes over on me, and Nectar Boise is no exception. Otherwise it is woody yet tart and overall more masculine than I was anticipating. I wouldn't really call it a fruity fragrance, to me it smells more as if a shaving cream or deodorant had a fruity note in it. The sweetness is quite low and sadly I didn't get any cardamom. It's in that range where it's definitely more naturalistic than your average mainstream scent but clearly not all natural. There's a quality that's hard for me to pin down that screams "indie". While that's not necessarily a bad thing it, also means not to expect a high level of polish. I'd like to experience how this smells on someone else, I think it might sparkle on the right person. (I sampled from American Perfumer and had good customer service, I would recommend them.)
