Alien Man Mirage

This was my first Mugler scent and I was very impressed. I have been on this journey of fragrances for over 6 months now and I now realize that I am a fan of aquatics. All of the well balanced sea notes that I love are nailed perfectly in this fragrance. It opens with a very strong sea note before drying down to a fresh leather fragrance. The sea notes are still there,but not as dominating as other stuff that I have tried and the juniper note seems to really balance things out. I wore this yesterday at a 4th of July picnic and it seems to do very well in the heat as the hotter the day got the more it opened up. I got a total of about 11 hours of performance and that was 10 Sprays from my decant. Honestly out of all of the stuff that I have tried this stuff smells so similar to Bvlgari Aqua Atlantique its crazy. I mean I wouldn't call it a clone,but every time I caught a whiff it reminded me of it. The only difference is that the sea notes are more subdued in this one and that juniper berry balanced it out more. There was also a weird metallic type of feel to it which I loved. I will say this for certain,just like Aqua Atlantique I strongly recommend you find a decant or sample before you pull the trigger on a full bottle and also DO NOT BLIND BUY THIS ONE!!!!. Like Atlantique there are certain notes that are very polarizing and react differently on people's skin. Luckily for me this and Atlantique both smell fantastic on my skin and I have gotten several compliments on both,but please try this one before you buy as it may be different for you. You will either Love this one or Despise it and I imagine as more people try it the review section here will mirror that of Aqua Atlantique

Alien Man Mirage is, despite the following reviews, an intriguing scent that is worth several wears. I do think you have to take your time to understand it. It's worth a decant at least if you are a fan of Mugler and anything Alien related. You really won't smell this anywhere else. My first reaction to this was a creamy and slightly spiced shaving cream. The opening is bright and mineral just like it says. Then within the freshness, while being sweet and clean, takes on this note that is almost anise-ish to me? It kind of dots the composition like an i, giving it its personality. To my nose, and to my own thoughts and feelings, this is what makes it feel like this is for a mature man. This is no fruity sea adventure or beach fragrance. This one feels more for one who can be found hiking near rivers among all the plants that live on its banks. The dry down is very, very soft vanilla. In general, the fragrance is not going to blow anyone out of the room, so if you're expecting to choke people out for 8 hours, you will always be disappointed.

I've got this and the Fusion Man version in my collection. I think this is the better of the two and is up to the usual high standard of TM fragrances. I love the strange faintly sweet mineral smell which is also quite synthetic, but I suspect it's supposed to smell that way as part of its artistic concept. Although it seems to be aimed as a hot weather fragrance, I found it performs poorly in those circumstances, quickly turning into an impotent skin scent on me. However it performs very well in cold weather cutting confidently through the air but it's certainly not a powerhouse. A special mention for the outstanding sprayer which produces a beautiful and precise mist, the best sprayer I've ever used. Recommended for sure as an intriguing winter and spring fragrance, if you can still find it.

Blind buy worthy? 100% yes. Imagine, such a synthetic perfume that doesn't resmble anything smelled before beside CLEAN CLOTHES. It's not a compliment getter, no JPG Elixir diabetes vanilla NOR a smell like seashells aquatic sickness. It's... and I have a +200 full bottles experience and a collection of 80 now... THIS IS SO UNIQUE in SYNTHETIC TERMS. Pleasant? 8/10 it is uplifting and weird in its own way. Longevity? Had an 8 hrs shift got back smelling like the drydown but not projecting so... around 7-8 hrs. Would I repurchase? Yes, based on the complexity and unicity of it. Definitely yes. It's a happy perfume, no barn animal notes, nor hyper sugary choking stuff. Think... clean clothes and synthetic. 9/10 for simplicity and sophistication at the same time.

This is really easy to wear because put simply it's aquatic aftershave. Shares the mugler angel aquatic eucalyptus quality which I'm a fan of. I'd recommend spraying and and walking through or just spray at a long distance because it gets harsh if applied directly. It lasts and projects all day, a little goes a long way. Yeah it's in the designer aquatic family but this is my favorite one. To me ones like invictus and sauvage are just way too much, I see this as a more refined version of that style. This also has cool metallic juniper/reed notes that give it a bit of green without veering too dank, also has the slightest touch of alien jasmine and the alien man coffee note. You can also get it for a great price and it's not like everyone else is wearing it

Alien Man Mirage introduces itself with an aquatic vibe, but the leather that is the essence of the Alien Man line definitely makes its' presence felt. A bit sharper and lighter than either of the other versions of Alien Man, the relationship of Mirage to its brothers is identifiable via the leather. Test it on your skin. Hang out with it for a few days and get to know it. Sniffing the atomizer or a paper strip tester for a few seconds are misrepresentations of any perfume. Disregard the hate below; personal expectations disguised as reviews. Give it a go and judge for yourself, you just might like it. - - -

This smells really good to me and wonderful performance for a warmer weather fragrance. I don’t know where the hate comes from.. cause it says Alien on it maybe? Has a metallic tinge to it in the beginning and the leather is subtle in the drydown but goes really well with the rest of the notes. This is definitely a unique summer cologne compared to the sea of “blues” smells fresh and masculine with a little hint of dirty in it, cause you know... we all like to be dirty in the summer.

This is a very refreshing and addictive fragrance for me, especially in the Aussie summer. It became an instant favourite, and the women's version is very nice too. Only compliments from me as it is an aquatic fragrance but it reminds me of a holiday by the sea smelling the fragrance the wind carries. It fits in perfectly with the Alien universe. I'm a fan !

A lighter, fresher version of Alien Man I think - Alien Man is darker and deeper. Mirage has its own character though and it's nice with an attention grabbing silage. There is more citrus somehow lurking in the background. I blind bought this and I'm glad I did. Yes.....Alien Man Mirage is really characterful and distinctive with a good performance.

Having used this for a while now, I can say this is really well blended and distinctive. I like this better than Alien Man. Mirage is a lovely attention grabbing addictive perfume and it's a big love from me.

Smells quite aromatic! I feel it comes across smelling somewhat like Mr. Burberry Element and CH Men (especially in the drydown).

Smelt synthetic at first. After letting it sit for a bit it smells soo good! Would buy again.

I've always wanted to try the Alien Man line. Mirage is my first try and I really do like it! It feels crisp, fresh, and sweet. It reminds me of a early 2000s fragrance if they were sweet. The opening is my favorite - it's so airy, soft, and sweet with a feeling that I can only describe as "crisp." I know crisp and soft opposite descriptions, but I cannot think of a better way to describe Mirage - so please forgive me. It reminds me of a sweet scented shaving foam. After the opening of 5-10 minutes, the fragrance dries down to a sweet, aquatic freshness. I really like this, but I do feel like it is missing an "oomph" somewhere... still a great fragrance if you can still get it for less than $50.

Nondescript aquatic sweetness that's pleasant and very generic. Here and there I think I'm getting an anise note that reminds me of the original Alien Man, but overall it veers too much in the direction of "Spring Water" Dial soap. Longevity is tremendous for an EDT, which is to be expected given how synthetic it is. I don't get how you can really hate the scent itself, but in context, it's disappointing that the house followed up a fairly unique and good release in Alien Man with this stuff for warmer weather. Missed opportunity

It’s not as bad as the reviewers make it out to be. It’s in the same genre as first instinct from Abercrombie, but that one is better. I actually don’t regret blind buying this. It will be perfect for days when I don’t want to put on anything too heavy and I fell like it’s perfect for super hot days

i like how this is better than any of the best le male flankers and much more. it has its own character to it. very nice. 7/10

It's OK. Not as good and unique as the original in my opinion. This is a peculiar one. Before going into this one, I actually quite liked the original. For me, it's the only dill fragrance I've smelt, and it's quite a unique perfume, albeit slightly disappointing. Then, we had alien man fusion, with the added coffee note, I quite liked this one too, to be honest, I mean- I certainly wouldn't pay full price for either of them, I paid under £30 for each of them, same for this one, mirage. Mirage, however, doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, it's quite generic and boring, to be honest. It's got this weird minerally aquatic vibe, that doesn't smell like an amazing aquatic or an amazing mineral fragrance. It reminds me of the smell of plastic blow-up pool toys. I think I'm smelling more of the reed and watery notes, not getting much Juniper at all. Considering I got it for such a good price, I probably won't get rid of it, but I definitely would advise against buying this full retail. Longevity and projection...it's not great. Like the previous reviewer said, it's nothing special. If I was feeling harsh, I'd rate it a 1.5/5- but I'm leaning towards a 2/5 just because the Alien Man line was trying to be somewhat unique and I'll reward them for that. So yeah. 2/5

I can understand why Mugler fans don't like this. It's not a bad fragrance, but it's certainly not challenging or distinct in today's world of semisweet aromatic freshies. It's definitely influenced by both Invictus and the Le Male Eau Fraiche line, with that linen-fresh feeling mixed with synthetic sweetness. To me, the note pyramid is far more interesting than the scent itself...sure, there's a mineral feel in the beginning, but that doesn't last. Once it hits the drydown, it smells quite familiar. On a side note, I'm sampling this while wearing a short-sleeve polo and black dress slacks. I think it would work well in a business-casual environment...maybe you're not *trying* to get noticed, but it sure wouldn't hurt if you did, right?

Lineal mineral, almost sandy ISO-E and white musks scent devoid of any other natural aroma. Reminds me of Victorinox Rock, but in this case less leathery, fresher and longer lasting cause of the higher Ambroxan dose. It also reminds me of Avon Musk Mineralis. I've paid under 40€ for 100ml and that's even wildly overpriced for something I'd only wear for layering. The aforementioned, regardless their prices, are daring products for their respective brands, but they're like a canvas filled with watercolors to what people usually expect to be fully filled oil paintings. The performance of Alien Man Mirage is far superior to the aforementioned though.

If only the first seconds of this fragrance could last longer... What a wonderful opening, fresh, light and uplifting citrus mingled with a metallic note. It’s like a vague interpretation of L’eau D’Issey but just for a moment. And then becomes a juniper/patchouli centric fragrance. I was disappointed after a wonderful opening, it turns into a wallflower of perfume. Not entirely generic but at the same time nothing special. And yes, as other mentioned, it smells synthetic. This could have been iconic during the early 90’s, right now not so much.

Alien Man Mirage Out of the box this smells masculine, aquatic, forest, fresh, and a slight hit of metallic. There is a lot of meh surrounding this fragrance, I am not quite in that boat, say 55/100. It doesn't do anything amazing in a good or bad way. It has a nice fairly unique rivers edge juniper shrub smell, that I really do enjoy. Longevity / performance are average. I would not say this is a must own, but if you can find at a discounter, I would pull the trigger and pick it up.

The mineral notes are a bit too metallic for me, but it’s a good unique fresh scent. It’s not a typical blue scent. Actually, it could invent its own category - “silver”. I think the crispness of it combined with the metallic mineral notes is a nice alternative to what everyone else is wearing.

CK2 from 2016 is better than this. Quite boring chemicals in the face. :( Mugler is dead , sorry !

I find reviews like the below absolutely hilarious. Because we disagree with YOUR assessment of the fragrance, our reviews are 'tantrums' and we are 'juvenile haters'? Damn. I've been a fan of Mugler since original A*Men, so hardly juvenile. It just doesn't take years of perfumery studies to realise that even the safest and least interesting of A*Men flankers are head and shoulders above this release. I worn it 4 days consecutively because I just didn't want to dislike it that much. But comes a point where trying to convince oneself that this isn't as bad as it is isn't reviewing, it's just brainwashing. Very happy people are enjoying this release. I find it bad, but I like living in a world where people can enjoy different things without having to bash other people's views when they differ. EDIT: on a more positive note, Mugler fans who miss Ice*MEN should give Baie 19 from Le Labo a try... Unbelievably close!

What an absolute mess... This is the first and last time I blind-buy a "new era Mugler". Remember when his name used to be associated with "daring", "original"? This is a synthetic soup, where literally no note is detectable. I got (little) hope when I saw patchouli, remembering they actually managed to make a nice, fresh patchouli scent in the past (IceMen). This is not that. Nowhere near. This is one of these limited edition Calvin Klein summer flankers you pick-up at the till for £12. Alien Man was disappointing (due to my expectations from Mugler + how good the Woman one smells), but it at least had something going for it, with the dill/kind of licorice note fleeting in the background. This has nothing going for it. Nothing to be saved. I'm putting it on Ebay tonight. Mugler is on a very dangerous trajectory, and has been for a while now...

i dont know man, after the first two alien men frags (that were alright imho) this is just so bland and formulaic. generic blue mens scent, youve smelled this before so dont bother. uninspired and totally devoid of personality. the note pyramid is a total lie too, mineral notes? i wish. Juniper? i wish. Reed? i wish. At least the name is accurate alright, yeah its a mirage, a total illusion that tricks you into thinking something interesting lies beyond the wasteland only to flicker away and leave you in whatever desert you ended up in with this.

Don’t know why people compare this (or any other aquatic/light/sporty flankers) to their original versions. This isnt meant to be better or just as good or worse than their original counterpart. This is simply a lighter/day wear version which often times are complete different notes and concoctions. This is meant for people who love inoffensive everyday light but bright day wear or want a different interpretation or their original counterparts. Don’t go in this expecting a blockbuster or something better than the original or thinking the name implies a trick or illusion like other reviewer stated. For those who love or dislike the original but like something in it that they can’t pinpoint or get enough of, can easily wear this very clean version which is best for day wear and hot days alike because it is when the notes really shine. A nice clean complement getter. This is a mirage not in the sense of a trick or an optical illusion for its consumers but in the sense that its notes together with its complexities appear to the senses as an illusion, playing a role to your atmosphere and to those who get to experience it. An experience refracted during day wear and indulging those as the notes reach the heart and its base by the warm weather and hot air just as a mirage appears and is seen or perceived in atmospheric conditions when the bending or reflection of rays of light by the layers of warm air in the heat of the day.

@juanjavier: well thanks for your review!!! But to be honest, for me Alien Man and Alien Man Fusion are somehow at least 40% different, they both share the Alien Man DNA but in Fusion there is the Coffee note very loud! And in Alien Man the dill note is very present. So I don't get it when you say that Mirage is close to both of them...does Mirage have that coffee note or this typical YSL Y freshness going on? I hope this does not sound harsh, english is not my first language haha

I tested this flanker about two weeks ago here in Spain in El corte Inglés. To me smells exactly like Alien Man and Alien Man Fusion but a little bit fresher, aquatic and mineral, with a nice touch of patchouli. I didn't felt cuir at all... Smells really nice, I like it. Nothing new or original or innovating but a very nice scent. Ok, Mugler. By the way, the color of the bottle is very beautiful.

This is the cheap, synthetic 90s body spray/deodorant DNA of the original diluted with a very faint mineral smell in the background. Within the $40 price range this one currently has at online discounters, there are many much better options to choose. There's no redemption what so ever for the Alien Men line.

What a beauty of a bottle... unfortunately the juice inside is close to be nothing. After a 'mineral' opening slightly promising, comes THAT widely popular drydown everybody should already be more than tired of it... Mirage? Indeed...

Juniper and water notes sound good to me. The og was interesting and respectable as an art piece, love it, but unusable as a crowd scent. If this concept freshens up It could be a spring block buster.

It’s alright. Nothing special. But a good, refreshing, cooling summer fragrance. It has good projection and longevity as well. Check it out!!

Good summer fragrance! Lasts all day through the heat on me, where other fragrances are depleted. Modern & fresh. Good one by Mugler.

Very chemical. IMO, a waste of money! Easier and more exciting ways to achieve a headache.
