Angel Liqueur de Parfum 2009

It is such a shame that this perfume was a limited edition. I feel that in this era of thick gourmands and deep, fruity scents dominating the market this scent would have risen to the very top of the pack. To begin, I love the original Angel, the patchouli works so well with my skin chemistry and it comes off as warmed honey and deep chocolate with some bright bergamot keeping it from being 'dusty'. THIS ONE? In my opinion, this is a masterpiece. It is somehow more smoothly blended than the original but also more dense, more boozy and with both an amazing caramel note and tart cherries on my skin. In my mind I associate it with the holiday season, Old Fashioned's by a crackling fire with twinkling lights against a velvety, night sky. It is STRONG as well, as many below mention, one, maybe two sprays max and I can still smell this on my skin 10 hours later. I find this to be such a sexy fragrance, it makes ME feel sexy and confident. It feels very sensual, perhaps in part because of the cognac note? The barrel aging? Whatever it is, it is truly magical. As this was only sold in the 1.1 oz bottle (which is fine, as again, this is a powerhouse fragrance!) I still only pull it out in December to enjoy. My little bottle is sadly low on juice and after reading about so very many fakes being sold I am not sure I would risk trying to buy another. The sheer genius behind this fragrance is mind boggling. In a market currently flooded with so many scents claiming 'boozy' and 'gourmand' in the same breath, this is by far the superior one.

I took a huge chance purchasing this because regular Angel does not work at all with my body chemistry. I was so happy I did, though, because Angel Liqueur de Parfum doesn't burn off quickly and leave the same heavy oily fragrance that Angel leaves on my skin. I am delighted! On first spray, Angel Liqueur smells like honey, brandy or cognac, red berries and sweet flowers. After about an hour, the scent mellows and the base notes come to the forefront: patchouli (not too much in this version), amber, vanilla, cocoa, and something powdery. Perhaps there is a bit of orris root in this mélange? The brandy and honey notes linger. Angel Liqueur is warm and expressive and could be appropriate for any woman who is confident and outgoing. This fragrance reminds me of winter holidays, but I do feel that it will also work in spring and autumn. I think it might be overwhelming in summer heat. Sillage is excellent and on me, two sprays and the scent lasts all day. I'm so happy that I can finally join the Angel-lover crowd. This one works for me.

I have a tiny bottle of original "Angel", and though I always loved the smell of it on other people, on me it smelled atrocious! So, when I saw a small bottle of this on sale online, and blind bought it (based on the reviews). Oh happy day, THIS is my "Angel"!! Thank-you, other reviewers, for not steering me wrong! :) The patchouli is deep, rich, chocolaty, and earthy (very similar to how it presents in the "Muse" pair), and it's got a glorious sweetness on top. I find it a perfect level of sweetness, but I like gourmand fragrances, so others might find it too much. I find that I get about 6-7 hours of wear out of this fragrance, before I can no longer smell it (even nose-to-skin). I find that I haven't been able to stop sniffing my arm since I sprayed it on. (Word of caution: it could be very loud, so easy on the trigger!) While I wouldn't say this is a safe blind buy, if you enjoy "Muse" or the newest formulation of "Angel" (and you don't loathe patchouli!), you would probably enjoy this too.

Angel Liqueur is a woodier, tamer, less sweet alternative to Angel EDP. The opening has the same tangy red berries & sharp radioactive patchouli. On the opening this scent is also very peppery-spicy & woody. Quite lumberjackish & masculine actually. Over time the patchouli settles and becomes more cuddly blending quite well with caramel and more toned down berries. This version of Angel isn't as sweet and creamy but still recognizable as Angel. I always thought it was a more pared down version which embraces a darker truer patchouli scent. The final stage smells softly of chocotely warm patchouli. I get crazy amounts of compliments on this as I do with any Mugler scent. Good sillage although not room filling like the original EDP. The lasting power is actually rather short 3-4 hours The bottle is my favorite of my whole collection. It's to die for pretty but scent wise overall I think I prefer regular Angel EDP as its creamier with a more dynamic development

I'm from Serbia and during the 90's (when Angel was popular), my family (my mom, granny and I) didn't have easy living, if I can express myself like that. Those were difficult times, when you barley had money for food supplies alone something like perfume. And my mother always loved Angel. She even had a bunch of replicas of it. Anyway, times have changed, those miserable years are behind us, and i gave this little star bottle to my mother as a present :DDDD Her first real Angel. Well, not classic Angel, but something like it, only better ( in my opinion :D) Wow I can't describe her happiness, my happiness... I was so proud of myself that i could afford to give her this, and very proud of her because she managed to pull us out of that misery. That is why Angel is special to me, I don't have to love it but I do, because it reminds me of my mother. And this particularly little angel is devilishly chocolate :)
