Hot Cologne

I REALLY love Mugler cologne. This is the scent that got me into collecting perfumes. I now own over 300 beautiful frags but always end up going back to MC. The problem I have with original MC is that it only lasts about 30 mins on my skin and it's completely gone. I am hopeful that this version is more long lasting. From the reviews I don't really see anyone speaking on the longevity in comparison to original MC. That would seal the deal if I knew it lasted longer. I would like to reply to EvanOz85. The poster didn't say what SIZE of this they received. It very well could have been a 6.00 sample, which is a great deal from what I can find.

Mugler Hot Cologne revisits the original Mugler Cologne from 2001 but adds depth with a richer and more complex profile. It opens with fresh bergamot and lemon, followed by warm notes of ginger and coffee, creating a spicy twist. The heart has orange blossom, while the base combines white musk and cedarwood for a smooth, lasting finish. This cologne lingers longer than most, staying noticeable throughout the day. It blends classic freshness with contemporary warmth effectively.

A beautiful traditional cologne scent (with perhaps a slight twist in the dry down) but with the performance of an EdP. Well done by Mugler.

This is interesting! I get mostly Thai basil with a salted coffee bean background. The opening is spicy but wait for the dry down as that's when it becomes smooth and intriguing. It's fresh and warm at the same time. This is a sexy fragrance for the adventurous traveler to wear at home and dream. I'll enjoy this sample, if it wasn't sadly discontinued I'd consider a full bottle. Perfectly unisex. PURCHASE NOTE The ONLY place I have found that stocks this line is Harrods.com UPDATE I found a full bottle at less than half retail price so I snagged it. So happy! This is such a WARM scent on my skin. Very well blended! Takes me to a breakfast around the equator; coffee, a slice of just-picked citrus, eggs completly smothered in fresh herbs atop perfect steaming rice and hot chilies on the side... the heat of the day creeping up, sunshine bursting with curiosity... enjoying the moment but feeling the urge to explore. I will wear this in the dead of winter and dream of vacations past and future plans!

Recently sampled with others from the line during Mugler’s 6 samples with every order promo... I ordered everything separately so got like 24 samples HURRAY! The opens fresh and citrusy, reminding of a generic cologne more than Mugler’s own (which I love and own). If I didn’t know the notes I would have mistaken the coffee for spices - perhaps ginger and cumin? There’s an additional freshness from the ‘green’ of the coffee beans. This is very well blended, long lasting with moderate/heavy Sillage. If you are looking for a spicy interpretation on the traditional cologne, you will not be disappointed. Price too high for me but would enjoy smelling on others or receiving as a gift - very well presented!

I received a few samples from this line with a purchase from the Mugler web site. I like this one the best of the five that were sent to me, but I am partial to green notes and white florals. This smelled to me like expensive powder soap that you would use in a upscale hotel bathroom, but it seems to disappear rather quickly on my skin. As others have mentioned, the price is beyond what I would pay for such a fleeting, albeit lovely, fragrance, especially since it resembles TM Cologne, which is much better priced.

Mugler Hot Cologne (2017) - morning coffee - Every morning, I make myself 2 shots of Espresso and sit comfortably listening to the morning buzz, smelling the morning dew, and the warmth of the sun. This is what #jeanchristopheherault ‘s perfume reminds me of. After the initial opening of Bergamot, Petit Grain and Orange Blossom - typically perfume ingredients, come a roasted #coffee accord simmering in the foreground. I also get woodsy and #vetiver like accords supporting the perfume. Refreshing and unique.

Soap, a touch of green, some citrus and coffee. It is the scent of a holiday morning. There's no rush, you just had a shower, put on fresh clothes and now you settle on the terrace to sip first your coffee, then your orange juice and enjoy the freshness of the new day before the heat kicks in. This scent has a relaxed vibe, but for this price tag, I'd want to be enchanted, and I am not.

Love Original Vetiver, reminds me of that in the opening but it quickly turns into a coffee version (with a hint of baby wipes as someone below said lol). Not sure if I would wear this, love coffee but do I want to smell like coffee, hmm.

If I have to choose, I stick with the original cologne, it’s simple, clean and versatile. Hot Cologne feels vintage and not very attractive.

This time projection is ok, but the scent is too similar to the regular Cologne, priced 5 times less than this one. A pass for me.

The coffee is really heavy, this perfume is like mixing coffee and lemons. Not my taste

The dried citrus adds such an invigorating aromatic intensity to the fresh juicy bits, while the remnants of black coffee add to the depth of the heat that comes off the heart of the green coffee note. Intensity atop intensity, that all comes together so absolutely beautiful to me. Masculine and invigorating, Hot Cologne is a fragrance that any true man should easily be able to appreciate. Thierry Mugler has taken this legendarily vintage style, and brought new life to it with a touch of modern technology and brilliant technique. And this very power has seemingly been embodied in the essence Hot Cologne itself—as it holds the power to breathes new life into my soul—even while my darkest hour is upon me.

I bought this on a whim, as most of my purchases are. I always say no more fragrance and get duped when I see a new launch or the prowess of the marketing machine. This was £135 for 80ml. I knew I would kick myself. As others have pointed out it is Muglers cologne with a bit of green. The initial spray reminded me of the barbers shop smell where my dad use to hold me by the ear and escort me to the barber, where I was trying to grow long hair as it was the fashion and I still had hair! It smelt like the the masala coffee (Indian spice coffee) the barber would serve to my dad with him being friends whilst I dare not move for fear of him taking a slice of my ear off, which he did on a few occasions. This settles down to Cologne by Mugler, with a hint of coffee. The projection is very poor, and so is the longevity. too! I think you pay the £134.95 asking price for the packing and 5p for the really poor contents. I am so cross with Mugler but more angry with my self for falling for this really poor and rubbish scent. Horrible and crap. Its going on ebay a day after I received it!

It’s particularly impressive how long lasting and linear the citrus note is. Cologne Mugler, the zenith of citrus creativity, containing a fabulous Firmenich captive, cannot be beaten. Hot Cologne attempts to match its performance and style but falls short. Firstly because the two fragrances bear a striking resemblance to each other, but the latter does not improve on the former. Why bother, then, I ask. But secondly because the coffee note fails to shine, band instead flops. The top orange blossom note is stunningly real, a bit overly petitgrain, but tamed and blended in the heart with soft, transparent jasmine. I get a hyacinth, sappy quality which is nice, refreshing and clean. It links very well to the original Cologne in this regard. The fragrance is lovely, but not worth the money; stick to the original: more cost effective and equally as beautiful.

This is a super fresh cologne which has the same vibe as the original cologne, but much more powerful. I was expecting the coffee note to be overpowering based on previous reviews, but it is not at all. It adds a depth and slight earthiness but it no way outshines the cologne notes. It is a really great combination, like sitting in a cafe after showering in the early morning. I find it refreshing yet comforting and unisex. Lasts ages and sillage is moderate to strong- a little goes a long way. It would be great for any season. This is love! I prefer this to the original because it lasts much longer, although it isn’t as transparently clean. Warning! The spray nozzle of this bottle can come unscrewed (I guess it is refillable), but this happened to me and some of the perfume leaked out so check it is tight at all times!

Not the best frag from the Les Exceptions line, but that is mostly due to poor projection. The blend itself is quite lovely – moderately zesty, non-sweet citrus, a gentle coffee note that is noticeable but doesn't stand out too much (a loud coffee note is the last thing I want in my perfume); I also get a ginger note in the opening, though it is not listed in the pyramid. A very refined and stylish fragrance that does not overpower or tickle the nostrils too much, so I think it would really work for people with a sensitive nose. However, at the price (in my city the cheapest I've seen this line is about $170 with a discount, the regular tag is a whoppingly overpriced 250) I would rather get another frag from Mugler Les Exceptions, and enjoy Hot Cologne as a sample from the purchase.

I have smelled this today on paper at the TM counter in Montreal. It reminds me of Mugler Cologne without the musk. It is more dry. The sales associate says that it is due to the note of green coffee (not listed here). It is definitely a beautiful classic cologne (acqua di parma, eau sauvage, roger gallet...). Extremely well done. Unfortunately, they put it in the Les Expensive Category. It is also on the light side. i will stick with the cheap original Mugler Cologne that I had for 50$ for 100 ml...

Hot Cologne, presented in this uncluttered bottle, is a free gift offered to those who attended Mugler spring-summer 2017 fashion show. It will probably come in "Les Exceptions" regular (and more luxurious) bottle. They did the same with Cuir Impertinent last year. The problem is that "Les Exceptions" are sold €170 for 80ml while this "free gift" is sold €180 for 50ml! Of course there are lots of Mugler fans, but it's a bit of a shame to sell pre-series and samples IMO.

A very nice piece of work, lovely fresh edc type fragrance with a little complementary twist of ginger in the opening. Decent, functional but didn't wow me and there's many at a cheaper price point that I'd pick before this one. For reference You could say hot cologne is a bit like a mixture of Dior Homme Sport and 4711. Performance was okay, especially for a largely citrus fragrance with minimal white floral elements.

I never thought that there were coffee when i first sprayed it! as far as i know the coffee has quite strong essence but it wasn't shown when i first sprayed it. Anyways.. This is soapy with slightly sea foam. Now this is kind of tricky and weird, the citrus sea foam is mixed with coffee with slightly petitgrain and tea note, so it whiffs between coffee soap sea foam & citrus. I kind of sense malt as well. Fair.

Tried it on today. We had the lab sample at work. Smells a lot like Mugler Cologne, but the ingredient added as a polar opposite/secret twist is ginger, which is not listed here. It's coming as an EDP, 80ml's in Canada for the same price as the rest of Les Exceptions; $185CAN, refill $127CAN. Think less muskiness, more citrus spice. Smells amazing and sexy for a "cologne" scent.

Usually I am no Mugler fan but tried this yesterday,the name almost put me off until I sprayed it. It has an elegance to it. It's come down in price here in Canada about$18.00 and I LOVE the amazing wood box that opens to display the heavy bottle! This is sparkling, elegant and quality juice with great longevity!

Citrus, a twist of ginger ("Hot" Cologne), a few green coffee beans & the smell of baby wipes. Soapy. There is something a little bit dirty about it. Not really a traditional eau de cologne. More a modern take on a refreshing, invigorating morning fragrance. I prefer it over Mugler Cologne.

My husband tried this a few days ago and very nearly bought it until he realized it smelled the same as Cologne. (As I see,others have said the same). Which he already owns. Much better price too so please compare the two together before buying.

Got this as a sample the other day and absolutely love it!granted it's very similar to mugler cologne ,but it has really strong coffee notes and a nice crisp citrus smell to it !love it and will definitely get this soon!

Wish it was $18 ! However in England it cost us £140 for an 80ml bottle , this beautiful scent will soon be added to my collection again ,beautiful green coffee and heady orange blossom

coffee? I dont smell coffee at all! its some kind of weird bitter citrus to my nose! not my type of fragrance.. sorry about that

Why judge a perfume by its bottle? That's hardly relevant for most people in this community anyway.
