Marble

Although Marble shares a number of notes found in Creed Aventus (and it does have an element of the crisp, bright fresh citrus, musk and hint of peppery Birch bark like Aventus) it is actually quite different from Aventus (or Aventus alternatives) too. Marble is a much less 'shouty' and more dusty-powdery Oud and Leather, with a soft, smooth and sweet Aventus 'vibe' in the background. To me it is a 70:30 blend of Acqua Di Parma Oud and Aventus. You could say Marble is ideal for office or daytime formal assignments whereas OG Aventus would be for nights out and party gatherings. I remember having to wait a long time to buy a bottle of this as it seem to disappear from sellers as quickly as it appeared in stock so I feel lucky to own this. The current prices in the UK are shockingly high compared to what I originally paid - essentially tripled. Hmm - looks like another gem has either been discontinued or simply 'discovered' by the masses so bumped up demand and with it the price. What a shame.

Bought this last year and have let it macerate all Winter. This fragrance is one of the best "cheapie" fragrances I have ever had close to my nose. I say cheapie because it's a $200-$300 fragrance that is reasonably priced for anyone. Longevity is about 5 to 6 hours on me, so good for the office or if you want it for the night out, apply lightly again and go. I love it. Will definitely buy more once this gets low.

As is the case with Nabeel’s Desert Leather, Marble unfortunately is the victim of an absolutely putrid synthetic white musk chord that completely obliterates what could’ve been an amazing perfume for men, and man does it dominate everything after just a couple of measly hours. When I say dominate, it definitely does. I do believe that this was reformulated because I had a bottle of Marble about 10 years ago and it was amazing. I deeply regret selling that bottle off. This new formulation lacks the moderately heavy oud that was present throughout in the original formula, and it’s also really bright in feel and quite muddy. The original formula had this very neat olfactory color of navy blue which is sadly now long gone. It was a very dynamic and complex perfume. I will say with confidence that this current formula of Marble is a mere shadow of its former self. But none of that really matters anyways because this current formula is nasty to the 10th power. That horrendous and gag inducing white musk molecule, whatever the hell it is, sure makes you reek like unwashed, metallic and oniony armpits. It’s really gross, and what a turn off! The same exact demise in Desert Leather. What a shame and embarrassment, at least I was embarrassed wearing this trash and couldn’t wait to shower. Seriously, don’t waste your cash on this because it’s officially garbage. And speaking of garbage, take a guess where this newly purchased flacon of Marble ended up?
