Celestial Violet Man

The fragrance of Celestial Violet was created in 2015 in two versions: one aimed at the male audience and another for the feminine. Both are part of the Ecosystems - Gobi (Spiritual) collection and depict inner growth: to transcend, follow your own path, and flourish safely. The creative concept speaks of Gobi (desert, in Mongolian idiom) and its sandy atmosphere, which at dusk reveals a cold and peaceful moon of white, blue and violet tones. The fragrance of Celestial Violet Man features notes of hyacinth, violet, Omumbungu resin from Namibia, precious woods, strawberry gum, mosses, African Buchu, roots, herbs and spices, hyraceum, mopane from Savannah and ximenia. Lots of unknown notes, don’t you agree? I'll try to explain some of them. The Omumbungu resin is obtained from the Commiphora krauselliana, also called the Tree of the Hyena. It smells slightly animalistic and at the same time clean and almost mineral; Strawberry Gum is produced from a species of eucalyptus (Eucalyptus olida), which is only found in Australia and is threatened. Unlike the other types of eucalyptus, the oil produced from its leaves smells sweet, reminiscent of a mixture of strawberry, banana, and cinnamon; Buchu (Agathosma betulina and ovata) can only be found in South Africa and its oil has a strong smell of fresh blackcurrant; Hyraceum is the petrified excrement of Procavia Capensis (also known as Rock Hyrax), composed of feces and urine and whose result has elements that combine the scent of civet, castoreum, musk, and even tobacco; Savanna's Mopane is best known as the Butterfly Tree and Ximenia is known as African Sour Plum, whose oil has honey consistency and helps prolong the durability of the perfume. On the skin, Celestial Violet Man behaves like a floral-aromatic-mineral of few surprises and almost no evolution. The output brings that green and vegetable explosion of the hyacinth, along with a sweet and fruity touch, which I ascribe to the sweet and camphoraceous note of Strawberry Gum. Over time, the fragrance loses potency and begins to appear slightly resinous and balsamic. On my skin, it doesn’t go further than this, and frankly, I was expecting more striking facets. Celestial Violet Man is the first heavy floral that I experience in this house and although it is quite versatile, its result was very subtle and below expectations, mainly due to the high cost of production involved. I hope the female version is superior.

I just finished trying about 15 perfumes from this house and I have to say that without a doubt these are the worst perfumes I have ever tried. Not even any competition. I assume the creator, Nadia, is very charming and that the samples or bottles were a gift and some reviewers feel put on the spot. Or maybe they just like really “different” perfume. That could be it, we all like different things. But for me, these would be the worst perfumes I have ever tried if they were $20 each but the fact that they cost $5000-$10,000 is why I’m stepping out of my “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all” position. I realize we all have different taste and like different things and I’m taking all that into account. They smell watered down which helps a bit, the scents are not strong but what I can smell is mostly repulsive. But fortunately the scents almost disappear after they dry down. They also smell dirty, and not the good kind of dirty like civet, oud or musk, but actually like dirty equipment and like the materials have spoiled and gone bad. The samples even have oil separation and debris floating in them and the color is cloudy. If you shake them up some turn opaque once the globs of stuff mix in. I even have itchy spots where some were applied and I have iron skin almost and rarely ever have a reaction to anything. If you are looking for any violet in Celestial Violet Man you won’t find any. No hyacinth or strawberry either. But you will find very watered down wet hyena. Nadia may be a lovely lady, and she may be charming, and she may have a wonderful education, and she may buy rare sounding materials that sound impressive on paper. But she doesn’t seem to have the first clue as to how to make perfume. Cool caps though.
