Mar de Cadiz

Mar de Cadiz perfume was created in 2014 in two distinct versions: one aimed for men and the other marketed as unisex. They pay homage to the beauties of Cadiz, a city located in southern Spain and bathed by the Atlantic Ocean . Mar de Cadiz Man has a mossy, salty and marine fragrance and is part of the collection called Ecosystems - Oceanic. Its creative concept aims to transmit the smell that remains on the skin after a dip into the tempestuous and seaweed-filled waters. The composition is complex and contains notes of green and red seaweeds, mosses, mushrooms, woods, citrus fruits (bergamot, yuzu and Iranian black lemons), leaves of green tea, mate and Pandanus, flowers (lotus, cloves, narcissus and Indian cress), in addition to the native oils of Ximenia, Ucuuba and Bacuri. Before talking about its behavior on the skin, some explanations are worth mentioning: the Pandanus plant (Pandanus Odoratissimus) is also known as Kewra (or Kewda) and is widely used in Asian cuisine because of its high aromatic power; Ximenia is also known as African sour plum and resembles the scent of honey; the Ucuuba generates a butter, from its seeds, with strong woody content; and Bacuri is a popular fruit from the northern region and the neighboring states of the Amazon region and produces an earthy and mossy smelling butter. On the skin, Mar de Cadiz Man is a very difficult perfume to please. The output is strong, mossy and smells unpleasant. Considering that most sales are based on head notes, this is a pretty negative point. The evolution is slow and the fragrance only improves after a long time, when creamier and woody nuances arise, bringing a damp and dense smell, which is really good. The key point is in the expectation that we create and in the outcome of the product. In general, especially in tropical countries that are touched by the sea, the tendency is to imagine all oceanic fragrances with a blue, fresh and slightly fruity smell. And this fragrance does not have any of that, because it carries a lot of seaweed and results in another style of oceanic perfume, which may be a common scent for those who live nearby beaches full of algae floating on the waves and drying on the shores. For this reason, it is far from being one of my favorites of the house, although it shows up differently over time. That is, it is the type of perfume that you need to apply with a certain amount of time before leaving the house and, above all, you need to let the magic happen. To conclude, it remains to say that it is a fragrance that the user feels for a long time but does not have high projection. The durability is also very good, taking into consideration that it does not contain any synthetic molecules in its composition.
