Essencial Intenso

In mid-2013, Natura launched a new flanker for Essencial Masculino, looking to the date that celebrates Father's Day: Essencial Intenso Masculino also came as a limited edition and caused buzz in the market. It was another joint creation, this time involving Verônica Kato and Givaudan’s perfumer Claudio de Deus. In my opinion, the fragrance is the one that comes closest to the original version and the best variation already released within the Essencial line. It has a dated appearance and a unique feature, which only those who have known the original version, released in 1995, will understand. And all the rest serves to reinforce my analysis, including the bottle (the prettiest of all, up to the present time). Essencial Intenso Masculino is a vintage-type cologne that went against the releases of the time and came back in time, bringing a linear smell of cleanliness and sophistication. It has notes of pepper, nutmeg and cardamom, in the output; Patchouli, oak and Natura's exclusive essential oils, in the body; Sandalwood and musk, in the base. Unfortunately, Natura insists on saving information about its fragrances on the official website, forgetting that they can cause allergies or intolerances and the more information about their compositions, the better. In a company that owns (according to the last lecture I went) about 18 exclusive and patented oils, how to know which ones were used? It may have been of Pataca, Copaiba, Buriti, Chestnut, etc. Apart from the most recent releases, whose press materials are coming more complete, I confess that this arduous research to discover the proper olfactory pyramid of its fragrances, in every review I write, is very tiring. The consumer deserves more clarity in this regard! That said, Essencial Intenso Masculino is a kind of time capsule. Here, I feel a greater presence of nutmeg and oak, almost liqueur (yes, its extract may have liqueur facets and should not be confused with the smell of the moss that is born in its bark). Regarding the essential oils, if I had to guess, I would say that it is a mix of Copaiba oil with Almond oil, the same used on the Natura’s Sève line. But the differential of this scent is undoubtedly the musk, which gives a cleansing aroma, reminiscent of the smell of social clothing stores for men. When released, the bottle had that faceted lid (as the picture above), now updated to the current look. The amber glass reinforces the vintage concept. Projection and durability are excellent. To finish, anyone who likes the original version will love this flanker. Anyone who has tried to like it, but for some reason could not, needs to know this version. And who likes quality fragrances with the smell of nostalgia, can not waste time: it's a collector's item!

#1152 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This really is not at all like Guy Laroche "Drakkar Noir", a much more complex scent with powdery florals and citrus, nor is it like Azzaro "Pour Homme" or Van Cleef and Arpels "Tsar" for the same reasons. All likeable scents to be sure. I think all worth having, except the Azzaro, which I liked, but gave away because of the EDT potency did not make me happy. This Natura scent also lacks the strong cinnamon of Armaf "Niche Onyx", but I get why someone would smell a resemblance because it is fairly similar to Armaf "Niche Platinum." I really like the Armaf Niche scents. I have all the men's fragrances and just ordered the two highest rated scents for women from that line for a girlfriend. This scent is a little woodier than the the Armaf Niche Platinum, but still pretty close, and about the same price at $40 on PureBrasil.com. I paid $33 or so for the Armaf, but I do prefer this to the the Armaf. The cardamom and oak make this a tad more masculine to my nose. Car pool, elevator, small office safe. Good for business or pleasure. A little old school, but so am I. ; )

Esse perfume é bom demais , 2 horas depois do uso vc percebe a faceta limpa e masculina dele bem calma e serena , na abertura é mais especiada e isso me pegou demais , amo muito esse cheiro , não vou ficar sem .. Só uma ressalva , não achei tão potente como dizem , ele dura bastante na pele mais a projeção achei bem intimista ...pelo menos foi essa minha percepção, mais não muda em nada meu gosto sobre o Essencial intenso , delícia de fragrância , cheio de homem que se cuida e da pau em vários importados que são água de chuchu e caríssimos .

This is an excellent variation of the main "Essencial Masculino", a true flanker: it maintains its parent's DNA in a recognizable way but emphasizes the spicy/woody aspect and limits the citrus output and some floral notes. Here, you will find none of those overused sweet notes that are prevalent in so many modern compositions. It is a "classic" perfume without being dated; it smells natural and tends to be formal but can be used in any situation. Fixes and projects very well. Its price/quality ratio is outstanding.

Purchased this one hoping it would resemble more or less the wonderful Cacharel Pour L'Homme but unfortunately it doesn't. Instead it bears resemblance to the classic fougere theme and its most representatives fragrances, Azzaro PH and Drakkar Noir. It's a good scent nontheless, more straitgh-fowarded than the 1978 french release: no anise and woodier, initially comes a little too sharp but gets smoother over the time. Performance vs price ratio is quite good as most Natura products offer (lasts 7+ hours as a skin scent projecting for the 2 first and a 100 ml bottle costs around half the price of a first-line designer frag in Argentina). It's a nice and cheap addition if you don't have already a strictly fougere, easy to reach for any situation scent. 6,5/10 -------------------------------------- Lo compré con la esperanza de que se pareciera más o menos al maravilloso Cacharel Pour L'Homme pero desafortunadamente no es así. En cambio, se parece al clásico género de fougere y sus fragancias más representativas, Azzaro PH y Drakkar Noir. De cualquier manera es una buena fragancia, más directa que la versión francesa de 1978: sin el anís característico y más maderosa, al principio sale un poco demasiado punzante pero se suaviza con el tiempo. La relación entre rendimiento y precio es bastante buena como la mayoría de los productos Natura (dura más de 7 horas pegada a la piel, proyecta las 2 primeras y una botella de 100 ml cuesta aproximadamente la mitad del precio de un diseñador de primera línea en Argentina). Es una adición agradable y barata a cualquier colección si no se tiene ya un aroma estrictamente fougere y fácil de usar en cualquier ocasión. 6,5/10

The pyramid in another database has more to do with what I smell... Top notes: bergamot, lemon, pitanga Middle notes: patchouli, rosemary, cedarwood Base notes: musk, amber, oakmoss It has some aromatic notes that refer to Drakar Noir and the like, but... it doesn't have much to do with this one. In any case, one could say that Mr. De Deus and Ms. Kato were inspired by it but, well done, they came up with a result that, by far, is far more original than others of the type - the citrus top note is evident at first sniff, with the addition of pitanga, a quite particular hesperidic note for its tropical accent. Beyond this, I cannot detect any patch and cedarwood in the mid notes because the citric notes are quite persistent, there is a sharp tone to the nose that lingers in the base notes for the rest of the journey. There are woody accents that come to the fore in the base notes, but, as in the middle notes, they are circumscribed by the bergamot, the lemon, and the pitanga. When reviewing the original version, some claim references to releases of the 1990s, perhaps because of the notes that make Drakar Noir come to mind, but this intense version plays in its own league: it is not of the style that abounds in the present, but it is not old-fashioned either. While it connotes maturity, it is not dated. In that sense, I think it's a good alternative for those looking for an updated and more original version of what was a hit twenty-something years ago.
