heavily green upfront, bitter from the bergamot, galbanum, and myrtle. within a few seconds, it dries down to the violet and fig, a surprising combo that really seems to remind me of the iris that was so strong in Them. you can really get the chocolate note at this point, but as it dries down further, it becomes even more apparent. by the end of the day it was so chocolate to me (almost cocoa powder - not sweet but rich and just immediately recognizable), that i almost forgot the other notes which were so strong in the beginning. Interesting. Odd. I keep wearing it so I must like it, but it's a bit of a surprise to me as to why I do. For me, it smells almost exactly like J&J Baby Powder, but with more going on. Opens with strong chocolate that mellows out. It has something almost sasparilla-y underneath that I'm chalking up to the nutmeg. It has powdery white and yellow florals, a bit like a sweet grass prairie in summer. I do not smell violet at all. Sandalwood and suede give some bass to it and keep it from being confection-y and too sugary. My child says to them it smells like smoke.

It’s a powdery and musky fragrance, crossed by a sharp metallic note. It reminds me of the smell inside some oriental shops, but even more of those tropical zoo habitats with red soil and fruit scattered on the ground. Overall, it’s quite an original fragrance and not too difficult to wear (still challenging). If you enjoy metallic or animalic scents, this is definitely worth trying.

smells like the inside of a hotel room or maybe the lobby. dank air freshener and unfamiliar fabric softener are all i get, of course cut by STRONG chocolate. it smells like “not home” to me. dries down into a slightly floral chocolate with little else to my nose.

Earthy... like... very very earthy. Too earthy. This reads balsamic, and I'm not getting anything really metallic or violet in this at all. Pretty strong green up front, and very patchouli and myrtle heavy, with a nutty-woody feel. There isn't anything sweetening it up, unlike what I expected from the notes or profile, honestly I don't think those represent it well at all. I somehow find this to be even less sweet than us, which should (based on the profile) be less sweet. This is a miss for me.

"Is" isn't. It's barely a perfume; just a cool, dry, stone-and-glass synthetic note. I do kind of like that note, but I'm being trolled here. They also say it's half composed by AI and half composed by three different perfumers, which is meaningless and unappealing (what kind of luxury customer wants to hear that you used time-saving automation to compose your perfume?)

Neandertal Is was a stange experience. The opening doesn’t fit the listed notes at all, instead I get an almsot leather like note with a very strong boozy undertone to it. This was very shocking reading both the notes on Fragrantica and on the official sample box, shocking enough that I did a double take and went back to the sample to make sure I had the right sample (I did). The smell of Is reminds me strongly of something, I’m not sure what that something is yet but I’m sure I don’t like it. It took me just around 15 minutes to finally place it and once I did that was it for me, I was back in the shower washing this fragrance off me. Neandertal Is smells almost exactly like Jack Daniel’s Whiskey. If you want to smell like Jack Daniel’s then this is the fragrance for you! If not then avoid it. Personally going around smelling like whiskey all day long is something I don’t want to do. Is was a 0/10 for me, I just don’t want to smell like booze and only booze during the day. I also feel like it is not unlikely to think someone might mistake this fragrance for the actual thing and that could lead to some uncomfortable situations, particularly in regards to work.

Weird fragrance. To me it opens aromatic, herbaceous, and metallic. I agree with one of the other reviewers regarding an iris note despite it not being listed. The chocolate is strong but not sweet, on the contrary it is super dry. Smells a little like playdoh at times. My suspicion is that this is the AI created one because it's a little unbalanced. On the whole this fragrance reminds me of a fancy spa at a Vegas resort, because you have these nice rich smelling essential oil-esque notes balanced against the chlorine and cleaning supplies needed to maintain a high-end resort spa. As weird as it is, I don't hate it. Gives me a headache though so I don't think this one will be going in the collection. If you want to try an aromatic iris, give this one a look because I've never smelled iris with these other notes in any other fragrance.

So weak I would consider it more of a after shower before bed in the evenings mist. What good is a fragrance of it disappeared within 30 minutes.
