Chateau Rouge

There's nothing offensive about this fragrance. At first whiff I always seem to get a hit of citrus and wood - which I cannot put my finger on what it is; it's woody but it almost smells like incense but then again not quite. It sounds odd but it's rather addictive. Then the magic starts to come in; the citrus starts fade but jasmine starts to come through after half an hour. The mix of the woody note and jasmine is irresistible; it's ever so slightly sweet with a hint of darkness (almost like incense, but again I'm not sure what the wood note is) through it. Even with this mix, it manages to stay so light, airy and easy on the nose. Apparently there a rose note through this but it's not detectable on my skin unfortunately. It's almost like a good girl perfume. But this good girl is starting to get bored of being sweet and just nice - she wants to try something new, maybe something darker but only every so slightly though as she still wants to stay the way she is.

Well, I bought this from sephora a couple of weeks ago, the sales woman highly recommened it I were attracted to the bottle and the reasonable price. Then I strarted to wear it at office and with my bf too .. First: the website description: A floral perfume revealing a bouquet of jasmine and rose in heart, enhanced by a citrus top note, warmed up by a woody & musk background. What I found in this is a fresh minty start mixed with Balanced sweet Jasmine.. it gives a unique classy vibes. I have got complemented couple of times .. my bf really liked it .. This perfume has a language not anyone can understand.. a message saying : I am fed up with boring perfumes I need a different experience.. Love and 4.5 out of 5 for this bad boy. Finally.. I wish if it stays longer, but sillage is so good ..

I bought this from Sephora Melbourne Central, Melbourne, and sue me, I picked this one because of the fancy name. Chateau Rouge, such a fine name (I have a soft spot for the word "chateau"). I was initially torn between this and Laya, while Laya is a vanilla gourmand, this one falls into soapy floral category. The idea is to mix rose and jasmine, and frankly, they conjure a new scent, which is a bit weird...not in a funny way, it's pleasant and as I said before, it's soapy. It's quite linear from start to finish, with great longevity and medium sillage.

I find this to be quite odd also. To me, there is a somewhat annoying note in the heart, almost a mint? Possibly the bamboo? I'm not racing out for a full bottle.
