Café

Delicious start to finish. This is very coco-heavy and strong, and while it IS listed as sweet, the cocoa bitterness feels like it balances it; but I also like sweeter scents, anyway. It reminds me a bit of the chocolate in Prada Candy Night, one of my absolute favorite scents. Cafe has this beautiful coffee note going for it, though. The pumpkin is blended in really well-- similar to how when I'm cooking with it, in a tomato-based sauce, you don't really smell (or taste, in the cooking case) pumpkin itself specifically. There's just an extra richness and depth to what it's with. I thought this might veer toward like a pumpkin mocha, but it's just a gloriously nice coffee with a twist. The tea note feels floral-adjacent to me in terms of its contrast, and I think I'd like this scent with or without it, but it's a bit more interesting with. Still a wonderful and long-lasting gourmand though. Some quick info, it is fairly strong, and it is also one of those fragrances that will spread and little further than you perceive. Most of the Neil Morris fragrances are powerhouses that you have to be careful about spraying, because they can and will intensify about a minute after being warmed by your skin. That said, this is heavenly, and I liked it strong. I felt bubbled more than arm's length, but I expect that if you're in a smaller room, it would fill it. The lasting power on this one is incredible, but also on par for the house. I applied this when I got up way too early this morning. Doing the math on it, I was still getting a bit from the base notes, if mostly a skin scent at that point, 15 hours in. I lost track of time, so I'm not sure when it diminished that much, but I want to guess around the 11-13 hour mark or so. It's not a completely linear scent, but it does stay relatively the same over the vast bulk of wear-- if you smell it a half hour in, you will smell it 8 hours in. The dry-down was a nice coffee, not as chocolatey or sweet. I like that the coffee note itself never felt bitter or sour though. This fragrance reminds me, as I said, just a bit of Candy Night for its chocolate profile, but it also reminds me a little of another coffee-focused fragrance from NM, Izmir. So if this is too sweet for you, you might like that one. As it is, I like both, but this one very heavily focused on the gourmand aspect. I feel like this fragrance could be cousins with each of them, though they veer in very different directions. I don't really get any particular personality or other impressions from this, other than from the fact that it's sweet. I think anybody could wear it and not feel like it clashes with their expression, as long as you want to smell like sweet chocolate coffee in the first place.

What can i say? Straight up coco powder.

I've wanted this for a while so I was excited to try my sample today. At first I get a dry rich clear cocoa chocolate and coffee combined. Perfectly yummy; in my experience something that starts this good rarely lasts. On my other hand I tried Neil Morris Vanille Rose. There is green tea in both and I dislike it in both. In Cafe I feel it cuts the richness of the dense cocoa and chocolate adding a bitter herbal note. Not to my liking. But if you add cream, vanilla and pumpkin it makes for a luscious combo: why oh why would you ruin it with tea let alone green tea? My skin may be amplifying the green tea but to my mind the coffee and other notes should still remain dominant and indeed they are giving the tea a run for its money. I will post the results after several more tests, I am really hoping the promise of the initial spray is borne out through the life of Cafe.

This one is what I wish Coffee Break had been. Coffee forward, with subtle enhancements in the background. At first I was worried it would smell like I spilled coffee on myself, but it's strong enough that this doesn't happen. It's a strong like, and I could see getting a bottle as a pick-me-up when a woody or vanilla scent starts to fade mid-afternoon. Decent sillage and longevity, too. I don't get the green tea at all, but I seem to not really pick up on tea notes so YMMV.
