Madagascar Vanilla

This is a really solid vanilla. It stays very close to the skin, but lasts an impressive amount of time. Today I sprayed some of this on the top side of my arm and JHAG Juliette on the bottom. Hours later, Juliette is completely gone, as if I had never sprayed it, while Madagascar Vanilla is still going strong. Not that these are necessarily the best fragrances to directly compare, just what I had happened to try at the store today. I could see myself wearing this a lot. It's simple but honestly might be perfect. I like this a lot more than Vanilla Bourbon, which turns very powdery on my skin. This stays just smelling like a gorgeous vanilla with a hint of coconut. I cannot fathom someone thinking this smells "bad" unless they somehow truly hate vanilla. Edit: I sprayed too much of it and made myself tired of it 😭 Still a love but I need some time away... Edit 2: I got a tiny roller ball of the oil from Sephora, and I feel like it's a powder bomb! I remember the perfume smelling so much better. I have terrible luck with perfume oils.

Gosh, this is lovely! A very feminine vanilla. It’s creamy, elegant, and feels instantly polished. The opening orchid note does throw me off a little, but once it settles, it turns into this dreamy, sophisticated scent with just the right touch of freshness. Not juvenile, not cloying, just pure vanilla perfection. It’s not too sickly or overly foodie. Instead, it’s clean, warm, and addictive, the kind of scent that makes you feel put together without trying. I can’t stop smelling my wrist every time I wear it. I think I’ll be treating myself to a full bottle of this on payday as I'm going through my sample like there's no tomorrow. It’s one of those vanillas that just makes you feel ultra pretty, and I can't even begin to imagine all the layering combos you could do with this little number! Edit: Went out shopping without future hubs and he picked me up and as I sat in his car he immediately went "Jaz, you smell fantastic. Whatever perfume that is, you need to wear that more often."

I am a vanilla lover - pretty much every perfume in my collection needs to layer well with vanilla because all of my body products are vanilla. Tried this one out for days I just want to go vanilla to the max and it is the perfect cozy vanilla scent. I don’t get anything coconut or otherwise. It’s a very simple scent done very well! The perfume lasts for a while on me and does stay fairly close to the skin. Will be perfect for travel or meeting days when I don’t want to wear anything too offensive. I am also excited to layer this with some other perfumes as I think it’ll be a great base for layering! I only picked up the travel size, but after just a couple days of use I know I’ll be upgrading to the full size soon!

The most beautiful grown up vanilla. If you’re a gourmand girly who is over the “childish” smelling fragrances this is a must buy! Very sweet scent bubble that gives off a mature vanilla bean, I personally can’t smell any coconut but I don’t mind. This is perfect for the girls who hate overly cloying smells as it never comes off that way. This could work for any time of day or season as it’s super versatile. It’s decently long lasting and worth it imo for the price. A great everyday wear!

I’m so happy this smells identical to the oil, which is one of my favourite ever fragrances, after the disappointment (relative, I still like it) of the body mist, which doesn’t quite smell the same to me. I have no clue why coconut is the first note listed, I detect very little coconut and it is very definitely a supporting player to the main attraction- a delicious, warm, comforting and calming vanilla. It’s beautiful, lasts well on me and can be layered with the oil to extend wear.

Very soft sweet vanilla scent that lingers throughout the day. I put this on layered with Guerlain Mandarine Basilic and immediately the first person I saw told me I smelled good. The vanilla of this does a wonderful job of softening the sometimes sharp brightness of the Mandarine Basilic. Exactly what I wanted. I could this see pairing beautifully with other scents, serving as a backbone of sorts to a whole array of scents for different occasions, giving both familiarity and variety.

I was really torn between this and Vanilla Bourbon. I sprayed them on different wrists, and I kept finding myself drawn to this one; it just feels delicately irresistible. Vanilla Bourbon, on the other hand, has a boozy sharpness that lingers a bit too long for my taste. This scent opens with a sweet, delicious vanilla and develops a slightly smoky nuance in the drydown. It’s perfect for everyday wear and works beautifully as a layering base.

I sprayed this in store and immediately fell in love. I first notice a cozy and delicious vanilla scent that I can't get enough of! There's a subtle hint of something like coconut as well. I believe this could layer well with other perfumes or be worn alone. I wish it lasted longer and had more sillage.

This is a beautiful scent, it’s soft and enveloping it’s hard to say what comes first the vanilla or the coconut but they mingle together in a really unique way. This is not a gourmand, it’s dry, husky and creamy. In one way it’s sophisticated but ngl there’s an element of car tree freshener to it, I think it could be headache endurance of sprayed to much. You can put it on first thing in the morning and it feels positive. The longevity and intensity are good and I can smell it on my clothes at lease 8 hours later. The reviews stating that this was "just vanilla" with no detectable coconut really fooled me. The coconut is really prominent. It's there from the beginning and stays until the end. Both the vanilla and the coconut last a very long time on me. It's a very nice, tropical, warm vanilla. But my search for the truly boring "basic vanilla" continues.

It’s sweet but light, fresh and elegant vanilla. I wear this in combination with their perfume oil and body mist which makes this fragrance lasts 18h+ on my skin (and I still smell bits of it when I move), also leaves a nice trail. It’s linear and simple but in my opinion it doesn’t make it bad. It’s in my top vanilla perfumes

This smells exactly like the vanilla body spray they used to have at the body shop, but more expensive. I think it lasted a while, but it’s just a straight up vanilla. Perfect for layering, but maybe too “boring” for me otherwise

Some people find it really smooth and comforting, almost like a warm dessert scent that stays close to the skin, while others think it’s kinda simple or slightly synthetic at first.

It is a creamy vanilla sent and after you spray it, it gradually smells better and better.

Pleasant perfume that could definitely be used for layering when something just needs a touch of plain and simple vanilla. I actually feel like I have a lot of perfumes that fall into this category of needing just a little extra warm vanilla note, so I'm excited to have found this to play with! A little too intense and sweet at first, but after about thirty minutes it levels out and becomes more cozy and close. It's not very interesting on its own, but it smells pretty good with my chemistry and doesn't have any other stinky notes (looking at you kayali vanilla 28, 7V vanilla woods, TF vanilla sex, and MMM afternoon delight) to potentially conflict with layered scents.

On my skin, it smells like a more sophisticated version of Bath and Body Works Vanilla or the vanillas we used to snag in the 90s. My mom loves those and I remember thinking she would probably like it. I was considering buying some for her, but I am concerned the scent would be too overpowering (make her nauseous). It is very strong and long-lasting, for some people I think this is a positive. I tend to be overwhelmed easily by strong scents so I will likely dilute it. I also agree this is likely better combined with another scent for layering purposes.

The vanilla is ok in this fragrance but I got nauseous from it. It probably has some notes that aren't listed that blend weird with the proeminent listed ones. I don't feel the orchid in the begging neither the coconut, but in the dry down I smell a creamy vanilla with sugar and some coconut flakes. It is a generic DNA, nothing interesting but if you like really sweet scents you can give it a try. 7/10

Absolutely delicious and quite long lasting for a vanilla. It's like barely sweetened whipped cream. To me, there seems to be an extremely faint pink pepper note hiding in there somewhere, and the coconut is totally non-existent (which I prefer). This is an excellent vanilla, and great for layering! Edit: The coconut... it's there. I was so wrong.

An extremely basic (albeit pleasant) vanilla, way too overhyped for what it is (assuming the oil that everybody raves about smells the exact same). Not tropical or coconutty at all on my skin, just a plan sugary vanilla. The price of this is let's say ok-ish but the oil version is criminally and diabolically overpriced if it smells like this.

Compared to other perfumes within my collection, this one is incredibly strong. It has a very linear coconut and vanilla profile, so if you want a simple and strong base for a sweet scent, this is it. Personally, it gives me headaches and I have a weaker sense of smell, so be cautious. Overall, not bad but definitely not for me.

While the top notes are very vanilla-y, the main scent of this one is a very strong musk. I compare it to a less sweet Warm Musk by Bath & Body Works - it works as a layering base with something sweeter (I've been layering it with Sweet Tooth by Sabrina Carpenter), but I would never wear it on its own.

delicious vanilla, maybe a bit too gourmande for my taste. i'm not picking up that much coconut somehow but i do get a strong orchid smell. it's beautiful and i want to love it but it's too sweet. very custard-y like everyone is pointing out.

Smells like a vanilla heavy coconut cream pie - very custardy. I don’t find it to be the same as the perfume oil (which I prefer, as it has a more dry vanilla and “coconut husk” scent). It’s reads as a “synthetic gourmand” to me.

Weirdly I am getting Axe Body Spray when I smell this on myself. Bizarre because on face value everything in this perfume smells good on my skin normally. Not a fan, really unpleasant

If you enjoy vanilla and ONLY vanilla, this is a good scent for you, I like more complex fragrances so this is not for me.

Acrid! Seriously skip this. Your wallet (and your neighbors!) will thank you. The price is a genuine joke for the quality. Somehow BBW manages to be better quality. It has a whopping dose of that synthetic white cedar/oud/metallic saffron note that's in everything now and it fully dominates everything. Huge amounts of Iso E Super too. That's the bulk of the fragrance. Add 1/32tsp of vanillin and you have this olfactory monstrosity. No amount of scrubbing or baking soda can remove this from your skin or anything it touches. The vanilla is not prominent and the orchid and coconut notes evaporate pretty immediately. If you're an ardent lover of all things vanilla, steer well clear of this and save your money. Vanilla is probably my favorite note ever and over the years have amassed quite a collection of bottles and samples (even from well over 100 years ago). Not only are the description and notes incorrect, but the name really should be "white cedar-saffron". With so many incredible, beautiful vanillas out there, go with something of higher quality with lower risks of triggering allergies and asthma in your neighbors. But if you're all about the synthetics and Iso E Super, definitely go for it. It's pretty darn linear IES.

There is a spice in the initial scent is weird as the notes don't give hint where it's coming from. Maybe the orchid? Drydown is straight up - dirty old man munching on chinese fortune cookies.

This is THE vanilla for me. This is what I want to smell like. I want to smell mature yet youthful - it’s tricky because I don’t want to smell juvenile nor vintage. This vanilla smells like you just left The Met in your best satin gown, and stopped to have a vanilla desert on your way home. I’m not getting tropical at all - I’m getting warm, a little spicy, and SO sensual. This is a rich auntie vanilla, and I’m obsessed.

This is a warm, very slightly spicy vanilla. It's very inviting and rich. Interestingly, I am not picking up on the coconut. I'm personally a fan of softer, more powdered sugar, marshmallow or cotton candy vibe vanillas, so I can't see myself reaching for this very often. However, it is beautifully done and smells expensive. If you're a fan of a heavier, less sweet vanilla you'll likely enjoy this.

This is beautiful and creamy. I loved it at first sniff. Dense and long lasting. There’s something distinctive about it. Amazing work — great for fall days and to layer with other fragrances 🍁🍁 it feels like a warm hug!! 🤗

When I first got the perfume I didn’t think it smelled anything like the oil. However after letting it macerate for two weeks it’s heavenly. Lasts on me at least 10-12 hours. My new holy grail. Bought the body wash too.

Really pungent, prominent vanilla that's right there in your face. It has this overripe rotting fruit, almost indolic quality to it. If you're into single linear scents and you like vanilla this is the frag for you.

OMFG!!! I was JUST writing about wanting this in spray form (my oil went bad on me)!!! I am so over the moon right now!!! The BEST vanilla in the game hands down!! Thank you perfume Gods!!
