Madagascar Vanilla Perfume Oil

So sad now that I've used up my sample, as I'm really going to miss this! Madagascar Vanilla is a super rich lactonic vanilla with a slight florality to it, simple but enjoyable. It is a bit cloyingly sweet on the nose but the low sillage of the oil prevents it becoming annoying, and it's not like being sweet is unusual for a vanilla perfume anyway. Personally, I think the vanilla is balanced well with the coconut, but I can understand why the coconut could still be too much for some. Given that, Madagascar Vanilla eskews the darker more balsamic elements characteristic of vanilla, replacing it with a coconut-white floral lactonic base. Lactones can definitely be hit or miss depending on skin chemistry though, so I can't fully endorse blind buying this if you don't know how lactones perform on your skin. On the bright side, Longevity and sillage is amazing on me! I could still smell the dab on my chest the morning after I wore it, which is quite impressive for an oil! Madagascar Vanilla's simplicity makes it great for layering with other vanilla, coconut, and lactonic scents as well. Not cheap but not expensive either, I'm considering FBing this just because I love layering, but it's kind of on the back burner behind other scents I love more.

One of my favorites. Never knew I needed this until my best friend told me about it 😍. I remember buying the holiday set they came out with at Sephora where the rollerball and full-size oil was the price of just the full size oil ($90). Snatched it up. Rubbed some of this on and went about my day. Kept getting wafts of something sweet, woody and intoxicating. I'm like what is that??? What am I smelling??? OMG THAT'S ME!! THATS THIS FRAGRANCE OIL!! Been in love ever since. It doesn't state there's a woody fragrance but there's definitely something heavier in this somewhere. I do love the vanilla in this sooo much because the more it warms on my skin the sweeter it gets. OBSESSED. This is also a very intimate scent for sure with people only smelling it if your skin is warm and its radiating a little off of it so they're in your scent bubble, or when they hug you and get a whiff from your wrists and neck. To stretch the scent of this and pro long it, mix a few drops in with an unscented lotion all over your body, OR with an unscented oil all over your body after lightly drying off out of the shower (You're welcome). Will stay practically ALL day long. Love having this in my collection.

Oh. My. I am so lucky to have scored some little 0.11oz bottles of this oil. I was hesitant - even at a decent price because I've been disappointed in the past. This scent is so beautiful that I find it hard to describe. Vanilla? Yes, and coconut right under it, so close I almost can't tell where the vanilla ends and the coconut begins. The orchid is just there enough but I had to search out the notes to know what floral I was smelling. I can't say that this is a true blue vanilla because the coconut and that whisper of orchid are there, but... It's so nice. As for sillage and longevity, I often complain about my more "mature" skin not protecting or holding when wearing perfume. This is a rare exception. This is not loud but it's noticeable to my own nose and I checked with a friend. She said that she got a nice "float by" of it as I moved around her. I am so in love that I would strongly consider marrying the man who gifted me with a full bottle of this! LOL

If you have ever been to a boutique in the south, where it smells sweet and leathery/musky and thought I want to smell like this, buy this fragrance. That was me and years later I finally found it. I am obsessed with a sweet vanilla and the musky almost leathery smell. Once it starts to die down, it just turns into a sweet vanilla but when you freshly put it on, it smells very musky and very vanillay. By far my most favorite and go to fragrance. It’s almost $100 for only an ounce but just a little bit of oil goes along way. If you put it on your clothes, the smell does not die and smells totally fresh. I. LOVE. THIS. FRAGRANCE. The other comments don’t really seem to like it so it’s pretty subjective, but if you like the car freshies that smell like sweet leather then this is for you. It’s potent, it’s long lasting, and it’s super sweet. It is also really great for layering. My favorite to layer it with is J'adore D'eau.

This perfume is what Kayali’s Vanilla 28 should have been. This gives me similar vibes to Milk by Commodity, as well. It smells like smokey, sweet, marshmallow vanilla. It smells like a fluffy vanilla milkshake with some incense burning in the background somewhere. It’s good. Would I say it’s groundbreaking? Absolutely not. However, most smokey vanilla perfumes (ie By the Fireplace) make me feel like I’m at a 4th of July BBQ. Madagascar Vanilla does not. However, it does smell like a grown up vanilla. If vanilla was 32 years old, she would be Madagascar Vanilla. I don’t know if it would be a good layering scent, since it’s so smokey, deep, and dark... but I do suppose it could work if you were layering with another frag that’s in the same scent family. Sweet, dark, fluffy, milky, and smokey. Very profound. This perfume will not take you by surprise. I like it.

All through high school I wore Auric Blends Black Coconut - it was a rollerball perfume oil you could get at Sprouts or Jimbo’s or [insert crunchy grocery store here]. It was my obsession because it wasn’t sweet, it was non-gourmand coconut with a touch of sandalwood. It was POWERFUL! I remember slicking some on before a kickback the summer after freshman year of college and having my friend say, “Charli, that damn coconut smell!” immediately after hugging. I have been chasing that high ever since, and I think this is it. Madagascar Vanilla is the cooler sister of that scent, like the prettier of fraternal twins. It might be sliiiiiiiightly more adult, but not like old or mature, per se, but a little more knowing and experienced. The difference between senior year of high school and freshman year of college, I guess. 🥲 I love it.

I’m not a fan of straight vanilla or coconut-forward fragrances. There needs to be more complexity if those notes are involved. This perfume oil might have thrown that whole declaration out the window. When I apply this, I get a brighter vanilla, as if there’s some citrus in there somewhere. I don’t get a strong coconut presence. To me, this is a soft but bright citrus-vanilla floral. It doesn’t overwhelm my senses with a heady gourmand sillage. I’m wondering if the perfume spray would present differently in that aspect? This sits close to the skin, but is noticeable by someone standing in my personal space. The longevity is also pretty good. I continue to smell it hours later. I’ve layered it with a second fragrance before, and I could still smell MV after the second perfume had disappeared.

I actually really enjoy this oil! When I first sniffed from the bottle, it DID smell very play-doh, plasticky. I was very thrown off as I didn't get any vanilla or warmth. On my skin though? This oil blooms into something VERY different. As it warms, it is a woody vanilla/coconut with a slight peppery undertone. I think this is one you need to try on your skin, as everyone's skin chemistry is unique I think it will different for all. However, I don't get much longevity from this one. If you don't want to spend the exorbitant amount that Nest charges, just purchase the Sand & Fog Vanilla Musk, it is less 1/4 of the price and has a much longer longevity and sillage. It is nearly identical.

I’ve been trying out different layering combinations (I much prefer to wear perfume oils to complement another perfume rather than by itself) and this is sooo pretty when layered with Dior Hypnotic Poison! They both have coconut and vanilla notes. The coconut in this oil is much more prominent and brings out the note in HP. Because of the coconut aspect, I feel like this combination is perfect for making Hypnotic Poison more appropriate for the summer. I got lots of compliments when I asked my coworkers the other day what they thought of the combination.

Love at first sniff! I don’t usually like sweet vanilla scents, but I’m glad this one is not sweet at all. It smells like a toasted vanilla bean that you’ve smeared all over your body. It’s subtle yet noticeable. I use it as a base for literally anything before applying any other fragrance. It acts as a nice, deep, seductive touch. I’ve also noticed that my fragrance lasts a lot longer when I wear this combined with the same Nest body mist. Get the rollerball bottle instead of the spray bottle to save your money, because it will last much longer.

I was very indifferent about this fragrance when I first got it, but I actually have grow to love it. It is VERY heavy so keep that in mind. It is definitely a musky vanilla. I really don't get a whole lot of coconut from this. People are mentioning a sharp note and there is DEFINITELY a sharp note. I agree with the person below who said that it was similar to the sharpness that ambroxan can have. I, however, LOVE ambroxan which is why I started loving this when it began to develop. I will usually use this as a base layer to add warmth.

A very approachable, inoffensive fragrance. It’s a simple, sweet vanilla with a little bit of coconut mixed in. I like the simplicity of this oil, sometimes less is more and it smells so good. If i could smell like this or like Missing Person 24/7, I’d be happy. It’s great for layering and for wearing alone. Lasts a long time on my skin. The travel size with the rollerball is my favourite one to get, it’s honestly just easier and less messy to use than the full-size with the dropper. It’s also cheaper and will last nearly just as long.

Looks like not many people like this scent. I’ve had this in 2022, it’s now 2025, and I still love it! I mix it with Gucci Orchid and it’s DIVINE! My fiancée cannot get his hands off me when I put this on. It is also true that it smells exactly like Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow after a while. I smelled my arm after a few hours later and it smells exactly like it. Very vanilla, marshmallow-y, and sweet. I decided not to buy YBM since I have this.

Sensual, sexy, comforting, luxurious vanilla. One of my new favorite vanillas! Sweet, but not too sweet. Powdery, but just the perfect amount. This vanilla is perfect for me. Men really love the smell of this one. It is like a warm hug, there is some brown sugar undertones too. This vanilla does not smell artificial, it smells expensive (as it should because you do not get a lot of juice for the price tag). Smooth, a new favorite for me!

This is gorgeous. A solar vanilla with that elegant vanilla orchid note, and the coconut doesn’t go down that odd buttered popcorn path. It’s more dry coconut shavings complete with sun dried coconut husk accord. I think there are woody notes in the base too. It’s just very sexy and makes me think of a balmy island sunset. Intimate-moderate sillage, moderate longevity, amazing scent DNA. I don’t see this on a young woman, I’d say 30+

Very true to its name. I got this as part of the sample pack. If you get the sample pack, the oils tend to rub off on each other a little (sandalwood being the strongest). But, once you wipe down the vials, the individual scents come through really nicely. Love this scent, it's super soft. Super versatile. I like these, too, because this is going to be so easy to layer! Can't wait to wear this on days when I want to feel pretty!

i tried this today. it’s not vanilla dominant like i was expecting. the sweetness sticks out a lot to me. the way my friend described the smell was like buttered popcorn and coconut scented sunscreen. at first i agreed, but i’ve been wearing it for a while now and i actually really love it! smells like a pina colada. not overwhelmingly vanilla or coconut either, the orchid really freshens it up and makes it girly. love it

I absolutely love this fragrance! it's perfect for layering or on its own. it's a pure vanilla that isn't too sweet or cloying. because it's an oil, it's super long lasting but doesn't have the best projection. I don't get any coconut from this, which is fine by me. I love using it to bring out vanilla notes that a fragrance already has! my favorite pairings are ariana SLC and Carolina Herrera very good girl.

I went to Sephora looking for a good vanilla fragrance, the lady that was working told me that this got her so many compliments so I took her word for it. And she definitely wasn’t lying. It’s such a good simple vanilla base. I’m a vanilla fanatic and this is top 3 in my collection just because it layers well with everything. This is one that if I run out I’m absolutely buying again. Highly recommend

Very warm scent and pairs well with every season aside from spring. This is my go-to everyday scent during fall/winter (and occasionally in the summer) and I love to use it when layering other gourmand scents. It is a musky vanilla that some may not enjoy. I, however, enjoy it a lot! The scent is powerful and long-lasting, so, a little goes a long way. Please do not overdo it by adding too much.

Beautiful vanilla-coconut scent. Well blended/balanced. Smooth, soft, simple, comforting scent; with the coconut keeping it from being bland or boring. For summer, I might keep it for evening; but it's perfect for the cool spring day we're having - and would be perfect for a chilly fall day as well. Easy to wear. Safe blind buy for anyone who likes either vanilla or coconut.

This is the best vanilla I ever smelled and it is so versatile ! I layer it and can wear it for every occasion. It is sweet but so warm not at all powdery ; it is thee perfect vanilla with a hint of coconut. This lasts on me forever and has the best sileage for seducing my boyfriend ;) If you like warm fruity florals or gourmand fragrances you will like this too.

i don't usually like vanilla scents but something about this is so warm and comforting. it melds so well to this skin it almost feels like a natural scent and envelops you in a warm hug of a slightly spicy and floral vanilla. not a straight gourmand, which i really appreciate. could be a fantastic base layer for experimenting with other scents.

no surprise i am a huge vanilla girlie yes it's basic but why does it matter. we love it for a reason and this is soooooo delicious. vanilla can often be pretty juvenile but this is a mature, dressier version that i can't go a day without wearing. every time someone brushes past me or hugs me i get a compliment. this has me in a chokehold

I regret trying this cuz now I need a full bottle!!! OMG this is just delicious. I put some on my wrist and upon first application its very coconutty eh alright. BUT the dry down I kept getting whiffs of it and it just smells so sweet and edible I can see it layered with a lot of different perfumes. On its own its just as yummy

The perfect sweet vanilla with good projection for a perfume oil these days. I think whoever made this needs a raise. Unfortunately, Nest is notorious for inconsistent batches, but at least these cost $80 and not $700 like some infamous Creed batches (though, the smells are not at all similar) and the customer service is nice.

THIS IS HEAVENLY! I tried this on in store, left the store then couldn't stop thinking about it and had to purchase the travel size later that day. It's very nutty, sweet, cozy, and reminds me of macadamia cookies. I will definitely be layering this under my gourmand scents, I'm in love! It’s also perfect for all seasons

I was worried I wouldn't like this as I'm not a big fan of coconut, but this is so pretty! It's a sweet, mature, slightly floral and sunscreen-like vanilla with an accent of coconut. Not very complex nor is it a strong projector, but it lasts a good while and I love smelling my arm to catch a whiff of this.

Perfect vanilla oil in my opinion. Was on the search for a vanilla that I liked and this hit the jackpot! Not too sweet but sweet enough, hints of coconut, bury me with this. I pair this with Bianco Latte or Warm Vanilla Sugar from Bath & Body Works if I'm not going out. <3

I only tried a sample of this so i can’t fully say if it’s worth the price... but it smells like a marshmallow right off the bonfire. It dries down to a really comforting vanilla. I get a slight tobacco note too. Really lovely and lasts for hourss on the skin

So warm and cozy and sexy. This is one of my favorites. Extremely long lasting and others will smell you. I love to layer this with wicked vanilla woods body lotion and mix bar vanilla bourbon with the Eilish perfume. Perfect vanilla sexy Smoky combination

This perfume smells like bark; earthy, raw, and a little dirty. There’s a mineral edge to it, almost like wet stone. Imagine slathering on sunscreen and then tumbling out of a tree, leaves in your hair and soil on your skin.

So yummy. This is perfect for everyday, layering, you name it. It's just good. I will say it might be more suited for a summer type of fragrance bc of the coconut, but regardless, it works for just about any season.

Coconutty vanilla cupcake well balanced with the tiniest hint of florals. Tropical, perfect for cool and warm weather. Easily layerable, however silliage is a bit underwhelming. Price tag is expensive but worth it!

Smells exactly how you would think it smells. It’s just so lovely. You could wear this any time of the year and I’m sure this would layer perfectly with other fragrances. Will definitely be purchasing a full size.

This smells incredible, you smell exactly what is in the scent notes, this sits very close to the skin so if you don't mind that and reapplying during the day this is worth it just for the smell alone.

A balmy, coconutty, summery vanilla. Sunscreen vibes, but that’s right up my alley. The higher the temps the better. I am adoring my 3ml tester.

Beautiful, Sweet, warm, creamy, floral, powdery, feminine, sensual, alluring, smooth, rich, delicious, sophisticated, inviting, cozy, comforting On me this is predominantly a sweet, warm, smooth, and rich vanilla bean scent with delicate powdery vanilla orchid, and some creamy and tropical coconut. It’s simple yet sophisticated. Overall, a pretty straightforward vanilla scent with some coconut, so nothing new or groundbreaking. However, that certainly doesn’t take away from its beauty, or make it in anyway somehow a lesser fragrance. Sometimes simple is just exactly what you want. For me, there’s just enough coconut to give this a slightly beachy feel that makes me want to reach for it during the warmer months, but it’s not so pronounced as to feel out of place during the colder ones. The vanilla has just enough sweetness to make it really delectable, but not enough to where it becomes cloying in the heat. It’s also warm and rich enough to be cozy and comforting for the fall and winter, while not being too heavy for the spring and summer. It’s one of those more versatile fragrances that actually really work throughout the whole year. It’s just really nicely done, and so very well balanced. This is a very easy reach and certainly a crowd pleaser, so I feel like it’s a safe blind buy for vanilla lovers. I also think that it’s suitable for women of any age, and that it’s fitting for the majority of occasions including work or school. I know that sweet fragrances can sometimes feel juvenile to some, but this one isn’t that at all. It’s an elevated yet simple vanilla that has a very nice sophistication to it. I’m not really into layering my perfumes (only with similarly scented body lotion), but these Nest perfume oils are just so perfect for layering, especially because of their simplicity. I do layer these, and really enjoy it. I have minis of all of them, and I have travel sizes of my 3 favorites, Madagascar Vanilla, Balinese Coconut, and South Pacific Sandalwood. They go really well with one another, as well as all 3 together. Madagascar Vanilla is probably my favorite to layer with, and it’s definitely the easiest for me. It goes with all of their perfume oils (try it with Seville Orange, it makes me think of a creamsicle!), and can work with lots of other fragrances, especially considering that vanilla is such a versatile scent that pairs easily with others. For some reference, I do really love and own some other Nest fragrances, Sunkissed Hibiscus (one of my all time top favorites), Golden Nectar, and Vanilla Bourbon. I do have samples of Indigo and Wild Poppy, but they aren’t particularly my taste. Some of my other favorite vanillas include Kayali The Wedding Silk Santal, Yum Boujee Marshmallow, Vanilla 28, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid, The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods, Burberry Goddess, D&G The One Desire, Kilian LDBS, YSL Black Opium Glitter, Ellis Brooklyn Marshmallows, Phlur Vanilla Skin, SDJ Summer é Amor, SDJ 62, VS Vanilla Lace I get great performance with Madagascar Vanilla. The longevity is very good, it lasts the entire day on me. The projection is nice, it radiates out about a few feet.
