Eau de Yuzu

This is quite good. Bringing on a long vacation but I've been using a lot. Yes it's uplifting and solar but there's also this backbone of pitchy wood giving depth and structure. my thoughts on this keep evolving and appreciation growing: it's both joyous, especially in the beginning stages, and then also serious as it dries down. I can wear to work around boring sensitives but also to beaches and I think for the summer night this works very well. Also this reminds me, just a little, of aventus. It won't be mistaken for aventus, but if you're a fan of that vibe I recommend you find a sample of this or if you are brave just buy a 30ml for $60. It lasts longer than expected, but still reapplication is needed after maybe 4 to 6 hours to restore sillage. 3 sprays is plenty I think.

Love this work, but the listed notes are a bit different than the ones that Nicolai provide with it. (and missing a key part of the scent, the musk, on the page here) Here they are as listed: Top: Yuzu, Petit-grain Citronnier, Grapefruit, Cut grass Mid: Juniper berries, Black Pepper Base: Guaiac wood, Patchouli, Vetiver, White Musck This is one of the best perfumers currently working, and this is a wonderful bright, citrusy scent balanced out by that musk and vetiver. Ignore the next cheapie car dealership scent and give affordable mastery in fragrances a try.

A nice, refreshing semi-old school freshie, with a solid base that gives this character and longevity. On my skin at least I get around 6 hours. It's a mild to moderate projector, with strongest projection coming in the first hour and half. I see this more for mature gentlemen like myself, 30+, as I don't really see this appeal to the younger crowd. The opening is like citrus juicy fruit (the gum), very bright, somewhat sweet with a touch of minty-ness. As it dries down it goes more classical direction. One of the better one's from the house that I've tried.

As always a perfect blend from PDN. A very very sexy scent. My better half goes crazy when I wear this. Be warned! :) The Yuzu and wood backbone form a intoxicating composition that leaves you feeling very much complete in your late Spring and Summer daytime activities. Not highly complex but certainly evolves throughout the wear. Fans of fresh scents that want a classy Yuzu take will love this.

Great Yuzu! Compared to Yuzu Man Caron, which is also great, it feels more of a pure citrus. But just enough going on to be a great fresh scent to enjoy! My first 30mL into the world of Nicolai :).

I got this as travel sized gift with purchase from Luckyscent. It starts out with a lovely fresh blast of yuzu and other citruses, with a bit of the juniper singing back-up. After a bit, though, it starts to smell very cloying and artificial, and remains that way for the next few hours. I personally never detect any guaiac or patchouli. This would be lovely for day by the sea in spring or summer, and is a great option if you're specifically looking for a yuzu-centric perfume, but it isn't anything groundbreaking. While I plan on enjoying my small bottle, I don't think I'll be investing in a full-size version.

A musky yuzu with a wonderful bitter edge of petit grain pops out of the bottle and on to the skin at first spray. It is energetic, intensely happy and has all the warm weather feelings of expansiveness, freedom and joy. This is backed up by a woody vetiver base that is fresh and lovely and is an excellent segue from the top notes as it echoes them perfectly, deepening them but keeping their essential nature. Equally important to what this citrus perfume does have is what it doesn’t have- neither sweet florals, nor soapiness, and it’s not ephemeral. It lasts. A triumph in a citrus perfume.

Well, this is aromatherapy! This balanced, juniperus scent is meditative and uplifting. Yuzu is the main note and Nicolai really does citruses photorealistic, exclusive. If this perfume goes well with your personal chemistry, you get amazing fragrance for every occasion. I love the Japanese vibe, strong woodiness, raw leaves, noble bitternes. It definitely has a charm... --- Projection moderate, longevity 3-4 hours.

For yuzu lovers ! Very fresh, I can smell yuzu, grapefruit and wood. More for man to my opinion. Perfect for summer, inoffensive and versatile. 8/10 (for my husband) In this brand, for spring and summer, Rose Pivoine (rose, pivoine, sandalwood) > Fig Tea (osmanthus, fig, tea) = Eau Mixte (citrus, mint, blackcurrants, vetiver) = Eau de Yuzu (yuzu, grapefruit, wood) > Cap Neroli (neroli, petit grain, oakmoss).

Bright, uplifting yuzu with a dash of fresh spices. Well balanced whole fruit between the bitter rind and sweet, juicy flesh. Doesn't aggressively pop off the skin as citrus + spice often does, surprisingly smooth as if tempered by something like unlisted jasmine or other white florals. Solidly grounded by fresh woody notes. Moderately soft projection fades over ~2hr, longevity 5-6hr.

It is a nice Fresh Citrusy fragrance, Niche, High Quality and Modern. When I bought Fougère Royale, I received three samples free with it, One of them was Eau de Yuzu by Nicolai, This smells very pleasant and enjoyable with well-blended composition. If you like a fresh Citrusy with niche High Quality Scent , You will like this one. Highly Recommended. Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 / 10.

I like the tart-sharp mell of yuzu in the opening notes. There were moments in the opening where I smelled some hints of pepper and lemon pastilles/candies. On my skin it settles into a grassy-vetiver-almost soapy ( in a pleasant soft way) smell after an hour or so.

A discreet, well-blended, understated, refreshing citrus scent that is kept alive for many hours as it fades away, a balance of yuzu, and herbal/citrus notes. If you seek something that is value priced, yet created with an expert nose, this house is your answer.

Alright everyone, time to get sad T.T On the blotter, this scent is gorgeous. Sharp citrus with a nice spice, a soft sweet undercurrent of grapefruit rounded out by woods. I was so hopeful. Citrus scents always go sweet on me, bordering on gourmand so I had extremely high hopes for this. On my skin..... WHERE IS THE SWEET? WHERE'S THE WOODS? they're gone. I get smacked in the face with sharp bitter burnt citrus and just a hint of juniper. It gives night club owner who frequents cigar bars. I'm so sad. I'm sure it would smell amazing on someone with the right body chemistry, I'm just not it. 1/10 on me 7/10 on someone else

This perfume is like a breath of fresh air with a light and lemony scent, perfect for summer. It's delicate and gives a refreshing feeling. However, it doesn't stand out as unique and has a slight masculine touch. Overall, it's a nice choice for a clean and summery fragrance, but it may not be very different from other perfumes.

This is a solid citrus fragrance with the kind of staying power I don’t associate with citrus perfumes tbh. It started strong and unidimensional, then some creaminess and wood said hi. Then it reverted back to “mostly” citrus, on my skin at least. For the price, it’s a good buy. Recommend.

Lemon candy. Very strong lemon and sweetness, it’s good, but exactly that. Only for hot weather. Nice yuzu to test on skin. Tested on skin — lasts about 8 minutes. Not really worth considering.

This smells like toilet freshener upon first sniff. Sure it’s fresh, it’s crispy cistrussy, maybe on a man it might smell somewhat better. It tones down to something piney, it’s not a hate, but definitely dislike. I had higher expectations.

I desperately love this scent! It makes me smile, it makes me laugh, it makes me see everything with a joyful outlook! Plus it smells fabulous on me! I really do spend a lot of time sniffing my hand. As an Eau Fraîche, it is nonetheless quite long-lasting, and inexpensive enough to allow for numerous little booster sprays throughout the day. This was n°1 on my Christmas wish list this year, and my husband brought me a gigantic 250ml bottle! This marvelous Yuzu has soared up to the Top of my favorite perfumes, where it is rubbing shoulders happily with Un Jardin en Méditerranée, Herba Fresca, Diorissimo, the original Ivoire de Balmain, the original Santal Royal, Ysatis, Lillia Bella, J’adore l’Or, Lys Soleia, and Patricia de Nicolaï’s famous Number One, to name many of my all-time most-loved scents. I absolutely adore yuzu in pastry making and in the world of cocktail mixology, so I was especially curious to try a fragrance built around this note. And I have to admit the perfume captures that characteristic sweetness, tartness and slightly bitter citrus edge of yuzu beautifully. As the fragrance develops, however, the fruity sweetness slowly fades away, revealing fresh vetiver and the scent of freshly cut green grass underneath. The composition becomes greener, calmer and slightly cooler in mood. A very interesting transformation from juicy exotic citrus to an elegant green drydown.

Gorgeous perfectly balanced bittersweet citrus ("yuzu") opening with some meaty woody guaiac backing. Then nice herbal juniper berry chimes in. While there isn't a heart per se, there does seem to be a muguet floral facet to the very smooth & powdery middle phase. Woody drydown is perfectly balanced musky woody vetiver sweetened with vanilla & remaining hint of citrus even after three hours. This is a fantastic citrus wood cologne composition, and a great price! This is nearly as elegant a citrus woody as Five by Bruno Fazzolari, but is well under half the price.

This is a great scent but in my mind it suffers from its name as I get more lemon leaf than yuzu which is evident once compared side by side with Heeley note de yuzu. This difference might be due to the fact that the Heeley is more transparent which gives more room for the yuzu to shine. To me, the drydown is similar to what you get from Acqua di Parma Colonia Club, a fragrance that I love. Overall a nice fragrance at an attractive price but that doesn't quite scrath the yuzu itch.

This is a happy, happy, joy, joy fragrance. Very 'yellow'. There is a bite to this citrus that lasts as long as the fragrance does. I don't detect much of a base and I'm fine with that. this wears linear on me. I don't see this listed but I sense a white floral singing throughout the composition. I don't know if the composition had the gents in mind, but because of that sweeter, white floral tone I peg this a wee bit on the feminine spectrum. I really like it!

Based on the notes listed, I should love this. It is fresh and citrusy but, as someone else pointed out, it starts off awfully harsh and sharp. I am not loving the opening as its too green or harsh to be pleasant enough to want to wear. Now, after awhile, the green (I assume the tea notes), start to temper down and its a lovely, summery, fresh and citrusy scent that I think most would find pleasant.

Wonderfully, acidic burst of citrus goodness. Like a hotel room for your summer vacation. The Yuzu has a woodiness to it, from the patchouli. Oh how I wish an oakmoss spray to turn this into a chypre à la Diorella. Lasting power is weak, fleeting really. As always, Nicoläi has made an amazing experience in a bottle...

Take the yuzu note from LV's On the Beach. Combine it with the dry-down of how an Aesop store smells. Give it solid longevity for an eau fraiche concentration & a wonderful price point. This is the one fragrance find I am solidly satisfied with. Truly unique and non-offensive.

Smells better than the notes suggest. Has the character of Balle de Match.
