L'Eau Mixte

Great blend! My first encounter with Parfums de Nicolaï has been a wonderful one. I bought this together with ELDO's You or someone like you as both seemingly share the same ingredients (mint, grapefruit, bergamot, rose...). I was looking for a summer frag and I liked both despite them being way different. In this case, I was wowed by the amazing blend. It is highly chic and it doesn't scream, you will smell it for hours but more as an eau de cologne that persists with fair sillage. It performs so well, I am so intrigued at how Patricia and friends managed to create something so well done. I get easily bored by citrus and here I found myself smelling my arms ten times an hour. I eventually gave it to a friend for it smells better on her but I would call this unisex anyway. A safe blindbuy for sure if you like soft yet unique smelling citrus. Unlike ELDO's, the mint is not loud but a part of the whole concoction so expect more of a composition than a fragrance with particular notes here. Wonderful!

It's a lovely warm spring day here, which is perfect for Nicolai's L'eau Mixte. Fresh blackcurrant leaves, juicy grapefruit, lively peppermint, grassy vetiver, clean white musk, and a pinch of citrusy rose. This is a very long-lasting fresh fragrance that is not too powerful, yet it radiates around you with class. One of Patricia de Nicolai's best fresh fragrances, in my opinion. The jolt of cooling peppermint with citrus and green notes is just so pleasing for a spring day.

If Nicolaï does something exclusively, it is citrus: photorealistic, zesty, juicy, bitter and fresh. L’Eau Mixte is more than it. Amazing citrus opening and amazing flower heart. I adore the graceful combination with jasmine and roses. It is elegant, balanced and clean. Mint is cooling and gives a relaxing, green hint, reinforced by juniperus. The base is not too deep, only solid. L’Eau Mixte is optimistic, spicy scent which is bright and sympatic. Definitely worth to meet!

Very nice, unisex, warm weather scent. The opening is very citrus forward : lemon, bergamot and rindy grapefruit. Dries down to a citrus, slightly floral and green/minty scent. And after a few hours, you vaguely get some oakmoss/woody aspect to it but very mild, blending with the other notes in the dry down. Worth sampling if you like : unoffensive, fresh, citrus, easy to like fragrance for the warmer months.

This fragrance is purely art. The transaction from the top note to the middle to the base is perfectly clear and well done. I have never smiled a perfume that completely change in every wave like this. Wow well done Nicolaï 👏🏻

Fantastic citrus fragrance...like all citrus it doesn't last very long...maybe 2-3 hours tops...but it's a sparkling, bright, well-blended citrus with very slight spicy notes...the mint is very well-hidden and slight...GREAT!

This is so far my favorite from the Nicolai sample set I have. An herbie, fresh, minty citrus blast. The florals peek out in the dry down, but the refreshing citrus stays surprisingly long. Very nice for hot weather!

Citrus and spice is what I get from L'Eau Mixte. Grapefruit, bergamot and lemon mixed with musk, rose and spicy notes. Very green and earthy, absolutely beautiful. Great fragrance for the spring and summer months.

L'Eau Mixte is Patricia de Nicolai's attempt at an old school chypre - a very old school chypre, to be precise. In that classic style L'Eau doesn't sit on your skin, it levitates off of it like the lingering aromas of a very lovely soap. Do not go looking or hoping for L'Eau to wow you or make a statement, it's not meant for that, instead revel in the freshness, the quality of ingredients, and the superb blending to wash away your worries and cares. I actually think this is a great fragrance for those days when you don't particularly want to wear anything; you step out of a late morning shower, towel off, grin at the realization you have nothing planned for the day - no one to see and nowhere to go, you ponder a late breakfast, and in the steam of the bathroom and with slightly damp skin you give yourself several healthy spritzes of L'Eau and your grin becomes wider and you melt into the relaxation that is going to be today's theme. A bit of steam and heat makes L'Eau shine - another way you know this is a classic style eau. The fresh grapefruit, bergamot and lemon pop with gentle juiciness and effervescence; there is no citrusy sourness here to spark your attention. Just relax. Then comes the dry down, which is always something Nicolai can be counted on to exceptionally deliver. The gentlest of powdery pink roses and jasmine both nestled on a bed of smooth and perfectly green aromatic vetiver, damp woody mosses, and gently soaps musks is luxurious and comforting, like being draped in a fine silk robe at a high-end spa. As an eau fraiche chypre in that classic style, it doesn't last long, about three hours, maybe a bit longer in the ideal type of environment for it, and that's plenty long enough for it to get the feeling across that it wants you to have. There is nothing technically wrong with this fragrance; every piece of material and notes they present are beautiful and of superb quality; it is blended to near-perfection with exceptional care and talent. The only problem with it, and it's a big one, is that it's priced like a grand EdP statement perfume that you would wear to impress. Buying L'Eau Mixte for a spritzes when you don't particularly need or want to wear anything, which is what it is for, means that your lazy days at home just got quite a bit more expensive.

L'Eau Mixte is another well-composed scent from Patricia de Nicolaï. A citrus freshie with a herbal undertone and chypre base (read: a less soapy, neroli-less take on Cap Néroli), it is in keeping with her style and reminiscent in parts of some of her other creations - for example it features a clever use of mint and a nice oakmoss note, both part of the Nicolaí DNA. EM can be summed up as a citrus chypre, reminiscent of Ô de Lancôme - the best kind of freshie in my opinion. EM opens with a bright, realistic citrus accord up top, tart and juicy. Grapefruit is most evident to my nose, but lemon and bergamot round it out. It isn't sharp, just fresh and bracing. There is a nice herbal greenness to the background, the perfect counterpoint to the citrus accord. The mint is well-used here, enhancing the brightness without overpowering the scent or becoming toothpaste-like, and the tart cassis balances it nicely. As it develops, soft, clean jasmine adds body, but it remains firmly in the background. I don't get any rose, but the texture becomes slightly powdery as it develops. The chypre base creeps in, grounding things nicely as it develops. Dry vetiver adds a woody nuance, but it is the vintage-style oakmoss that steals the show here. I have a weakness for citrus freshies with a chypre base, and this is a lovely example. It becomes musky and increasingly dry as it fades, with a hint of mossiness remaining until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate - not bad for its scent profile. It is a unisex, summertime day scent. A crisp citrus chypre, EM is classic in style, made with good-quality materials and is an easy reach in hot weather. Nothing groundbreaking, but beautifully executed. 4/5.

This fragrance isn’t what I expected, but it might be better than what I was anticipating. On a tester strip the initial spray smells like a lighter Torino21. Although L’Eau Mixte can be put in the same category as T21, within 5-10 minutes this fragrance starts to go in a different direction. Once the opening dries down the spearmint (borderline toothpaste) note softens and the fragrance transitions into a citrusy, green/mint fragrance with musk. As this fragrance heads into the mid I was surprised at the subtle sweet & fruity notes that I could detect in the air in conjunction with the notes from the opening. This isn’t a fruit salad, rather it’s akin to smelling a virgin mojito while your partner is sitting nearby with a glass of fruit punch. The dry down isn’t boring either, I get a slightly aromatic juniper note which is lovely. Whilst I enjoy the opening, I have to say that I prefer the dry down as it’s a little more subtlety aromatic and leans more masculine (without being a boring woody/ambrox bomb). The jasmine, rose, musk and moss accords are never too overwhelming, and this retains its green and citrusy characteristics without stepping into ‘cleaning product’ territory. There is always a subtle sweetness from mid-drydown which lends beautifully to each stage of the fragrance. I’m glad that I’ve found this fragrance, I’ve been looking for a warm weather scent that isn’t just another boring citrus but also isn’t sugar-sweet. I think that this is very versatile and could be worn casually on a hot day, relaxing at home to escape the heat, or as an office scent (provided that you don’t overspray). This was a fun purchase, I’m happy to have this in my collection.

This is definitely more interesting than I expected, which was another nondescript slightly retro green citrusy fougere. What I get instead is a very interesting take on the half green citrus freshie half mossy chypre in the same lane as something like Aventus, smells nothing like it, I am just referring to the genre as a whole. Bright sweet green opening with oakmossy undercurrents. Develops into fruity rosy heart with a beautiful Nicolai oak moss accord cutting through. I personally don’t get any vetiver, but I do get a beautiful blackcurrant vibe, that tart sulphuric quality. Overall a solid vivid classy green fruity Summer Eau fraiche that is very easy to wear in any occasion, leans slightly masculine to me, but would be nice smell to smell on a woman too.

Oh, the opening here is a dream. Very gorgeous, sparkling citrus that makes you wish you were lying on a beach in Greece. Nothing screechy, nothing synthetic. Just soft, juicy lemon, tinted with blackcurrant and mint. At first, I thought this was going to be the one for me (I've been trying to find just the right citrusy green fragrance for the summer). But as it dried down, I find myself really, really missing the cassis that it opened with. On me, it dries down into an ever so slightly herbal, pretty straight citrus scent. Like I just washed my hands with a fancyish lemon soap.

Ms. Nicolai has worked her magic again on this one. It lasts far longer than the concentration or note listing would lead one to expect. And, it is not just a quick-sprtiz-to-refresh summer cologne. It's a proper French perfume with identifiable top, mid and base notes that transition beautifully. I get mostly bitter, rindy grapefruit, very light abstract florals and then the vetiver-moss-musk base. The oakmoss, given current restrictions, is impressive. I'm wearing this one one of the first hot and humid days of summer, and it's perfect.

Very fresh fragrance, 100% unisex, perfect for summer. I can smell citrus, mint, grapefruit, blackcurrants and vetiver. Office compatible. I cannot smell rose (I am a huge fan of rose). Linear, easy to wear, it is a happy scent, for all ages. 8/10 In this brand, for spring and summer, Rose Pivoine (rose, pivoine, sandalwood) > Fig Tea (osmanthus, fig, tea) = Eau Mixte (citrus, mint, blackcurrants, vetiver) = Eau de Yuzu (yuzu, grapefruit, wood) > Cap Neroli (neroli, petit grain, oakmoss).

Such a refreshing EDT For the first couple of minutes smells like the best mojito ever made, then transformes to a perfectly blended fresh, lemony, minty, flowery, musky scent. I believe it would work wonders in scorching summer temperatures and is a very good choice for the spring or any time in need of a happy pick me up aroma. I find it unisex, lasts for about six to eight hours and is not loud, but pleasantly noticeable. Do try it, you may like it or even love it too

L'Eau Mixte is a very green, airy summer frag. Main notes are citruses, mint, with hints of spice, floral notes, cassis, and vetiver. Projection is moderate and longevity is about 5 hours or so. Initial wearings reminded me of Xerjoff's Nio and Renaissance but subsequent wearings also brought up similarities to other frags like Bleecker Street with the cassis. All said and done, if you like any of the frags mentioned, definitely worth a look.

Truly a unisex perfume, but much more wearable for a woman than Hermes Voyages, which I found too dry. This is lovely citrus opening with a green background, with a dry-down which is much more complex than you normally expect from a summer cologne-type fragrance. There is a touch of "patchouli-amber" in the dry-down, and again, for something this light, it has good lasting power.

Opening is straight-up freshly spritzed lemon and lime, zesty and citric. Freshly crushed mint leaves and aromatics quickly make their presence known. As it dries down, the woody-green base notes steadily take over, losing the citrus but maintaining the bright minty freshness. Moderately soft projection fades over ~2hr, longevity 6-8hr.

Citrusy, spicy and aromatic opening. The green cassis leaf and the mint combo is really just so fresh and inviting. It’s turns a bit more aromatic and floral and the heat just make the fragrance feel so alive. A bit of old school classic vibe, but with a nice twist. The base is green and woody with a bit of musk

A sparkling tonic juiced in Calabrian citruses, floating fresh mint, beautifully tinkled in urinous blackcurrant buds and floral breezes that collectively coo due to a naturally rich green base of oakmoss, musk and vetiver... Surely, an eau de cologne that is quaint, lively and blessed for summer baptism...

A very uplifting spring/summer scent with some substance. Over 6 hours of longevity and above average sillage which is not the norm for these kind of scents. I am sure that if this was done by ADP it would get more attention. Don't be hesitant to sample it as it is a splendidly blended scent!

Citrus-rose. This is an uplifting fragrance with a complex and long lasting citrus composition blended with a very fresh 'green' rose. The notes are well blended, and it projects well and is quite long lasting. Perfect for a hot summer day. Unisex.

L'Eau Mixte opens with refreshing notes of citrus and mint, which I initially loved for their light and clean feel. However, the scent is disappointingly faint and fades quickly. Unfortunately, it reminds me too much of men’s Adidas shower gels.

Very nice, original mint and citruses fragrances. A bit unexpected. I don' get any rose, vetiver or moss, although they probably do their job here. Not full bottle worthy for me as mint is not my favourite note, but one to try for who is!

A lovely, sunny, uplifting scent. The oakmoss and vetiver makes it a bit more interesting than a typical cologne - and increases the longevity. Citrusy and green, but also quite sweet. I can't imagine anyone disliking this one.

Pleasant lemon and mint combination, light, calming and bright summer scent. Very nice but for me personally a tad boring. It is what it says it is and nothing more. Leans feminine, in my opinion.

This is one of those lemony rose fragrances which say "good morning sunshine" to me - this is my salutation to the sun scent for the summer! What a beauty!

After the citrus opening, I get a gentle aroma of crisp, watery celery. I love it. This is going to be my go-to for sticky humid summer days.

A true chypre, but unfortunately just not for me. Smells like summer, but not in a good way. Like it's a broiling hot day and you just stepped into the makeup section of a department store and there's no AC. Heady, and too aggressively "cosmetic" for me. There's certainly a fresh crispness to it underlying, but the middle and base notes overpower it for me.

Somewhere in between grapefruit soda and Listerine. The oral care product vibe is exceptionally strong here. Another Nicolaï dud.

Confession: grapefruit is not my favorite citrus fruit. And the opening of L’eau Mixte is dominated by grapefruit and mint....surprisingly I enjoyed it mostly because I love mint. Mixte is cologne strength, but on this warm summer morning it turned to a skin scent in less than an hour which is disappointing, but also expected, as citrus notes tend to burn out fast. Drydown showcases a soft rose and a musky vetiver, so not a linear summer scent which is interesting to see in a cologne strength composition. L’eau Mixte is a best seller from Nicolai, but I’ll need to test it again, this time getting some scent on clothing to see if I can eek out better performance. Edit 8.08.19 I wore this again and this time it’s more mint than grapefruit and it stayed with me for 2 hours before turning to a skin scent. Moved into the like category.

Recently my sister gave me the book, "How not to look old." (Love her for it). There is a section on perfume where it states the scent of grapefruit causes people to think you are 6 years younger. I've been on the hunt for a grapefruit scent ever since. Thank you, L'Eau Mixte. Because my style is floral orientals and chypres I need something with a little more weight in the base, and most citrus scents are too fleeting or silly on me. This composition is so brilliant it almost bumps le Temps d'une fete off of it's pedastal as Nicolai's best scent. L'eau mixte is right on target with the current fasion: it's light, citrusy, a good value for the money, and long lasting. No wonder it's one of lucky Scent's top summer sellers. Thumbs up.

This opens with delicious citrus, mostly bergamot and grapefruit, blended with gentle florals and light, fresh greens, with a slowly rising note of peppermint menthol. An unlisted hint of vanilla adds to the sweet bouquet. A subtle, mossy woodsiness develops in the drydown, yet remains softly sweetened. Overall, L'eau miXte is a refined take on a refreshing cologne, best for hot weather.

Fully agreed with LaurieNaurie's review right below here. This is good but the floral aspect of L'Eau Mixte reminds me of the smell of a cosmetics section at a department store a little bit. There's an obvious quality to this fragrance and I like it, but the citrus and herbs tend to evaporate quickly. Reminds me a lot of Dragonfly 2021 by Zoologist but lest intense and fresher.

This smells of a slightly feminine and very herbal cooling mix of grapefruit, bergamot, cassis leaves, mint (lots of mint), and hints of vetiver. The overall impression is herbal, light, green, citric, and uplifting. Sillage is moderate but subtle while longevity unfortunately is not amazing at only 3 hours of projection. Overall, it's nice but marred by bad longevity. 3.5/5

For some reason I have a problem with a lot of fragrances. My skin seems to change the scent quite a bit. The fragrances described by others sounds great. For some reason this smelled like a Ricola cough drop. It was just lemony and mentholy. I'm always a little disappointed when my skin and smell betray me.

Impressing opening, full of grapefruit, mint and fresh musk. It is almost fizzy. Two minutes later I get a soft, green, metallic rose, but the citrus and refreshing top notes linger till the end. Not much sillage but it stays close to the skin for 4-5 hours. Totally unisex.

Citrus and black currant leaf mix. Rose smoothes the blend and wipes out zestines out of citrus. Oakmoss and vetiver - give some background substance. Overall: easy, summer fragrance. Nothing new or exiting just nice.

to my nose, leans toward the masculine, though a woman can certainly wear it. the mint is the tipping point, I think. Bright, true citrus, but it only lasts around four hours.

Uplifting, happy and bright. Sweet minty grapefruit scent with floral undertones. Lovely and long lasting on my skin. Unisex, very refreshing. Full bottle worthy.

Brisk, bright and verdant with a delectable mossiness mixed into the composition. Coastal garrigue meets modest rose, in a tryst with zesty citrus. Adore.

Have a 100ml bottle for sale :/ Not my cup of tea - this one became very masculine on my skin. Artificial citrus and sharp vetiver. Too strong.
