Riviera Verbena

Incredible opening! Raw, bitter citruses, surrounded by green notes. Herbal but fresh, dazzling and sunny. The heart of the perfume is artistictly composed. Jasmine and rose are very gentle and clean. The fragrance becomes more soapy, in luxorious way. Still retains the citruses aroma. Only complain is that musk-vetiver base comes to the fore soon and absorbs the weaker notes. On my skin turns almost masculine-fresh. After few hours it is not airy and light. Patchouli makes it more and more dark and a bit woody. But it is a nice ending, distinged point. Riviera Verbena is one of the best perfume I've ever tried. Pleased with projection (moderate) and longevity (6-7 hours) also.

This is excellent. VERY unisex. It reminds me a lot of Verveine by L'Occitane but on steroids. My wife wears Verveine daily and uses it also as a room spray. Riviera Verbena is much better IMO. Long lasting for an EDT and has moderate projection with a huge initial blast of citrus and vetiver. I definitely get green notes. This is very well blended and I don’t find it overly synthetic at all. Excellent spring/summer fragrance!

Wow freshness to the top. The bubbly citrus with a hint of bitterness is mouth-watering. The herbal notes are incorporated masterfully to make you feel like you are picking fresh greens in your garden. Invigorating and uplifting. Very decent performance too!

One of my favorite perfumes. Will be buying more when I finish my bottle eventually. I love the lemon scent in this and I just can’t get enough of this scent.

I don't agree with top "smells like" section as I own both neroli sauvage and Eua de Rochas. Maybe there in the same profile but aren't similar in scent. Riviera verbena has a beautiful opening and mid, citrus, petitgrain and verbena dominant that's very refreshing with a high quality citrus note (lemon). This is a citric/green fragrance through and through. Overall this has good performance for it's scent class. When the dry down happens (around 2 hour mark) it transitions into a calone heavy musk, which I don't personally mind, but the difference in scent profile between the opening and mid, to the dry down is pretty drastic as they are basically two scents. It goes from citric/green into marine territory. If you aren't a fan of calone you might want to avoid, but I enjoy it was it makes this fragrance non-linear. That being said, I still prefer the opening and mid overall. 7.5 out of 10.

A really nice classic fougere. I get ginger, neroli, and cedar, as well as most of the notes in the note pyramid. I feel like the "Riviera" part of the name is a little misleading. It's not a "riviera" scent to me. It's more "classic fougere". Personally, I'll say it's my favorite "classic fougere". It's less "old man's scent" then what for example "Dior Eau Sauvage" feels like, for me. The official sample comes with a Fantastic sprayer. The best I've ever had in samples. That alone shows the quality and dedication of the brand. Personal score:8.5/10. A Really solid fragrance. Not my style, but if it was, I'd be looking for a full bottle.

Citrus-forward, fresh and aromatic (in a good way) composite of lemons, verbena, mint, petitgrain, vetiver, jasmine and rose, with a mild fruity musk in the undertone. Smooth, even if not all the way harmonic. However, another quality blending from Nicolai. Bravo.

Very nice citruses and zest all the way. I like the verbena note here. Its so refreshing howeverI was reminded of asian food and that did not go very well. I like the combination but I don’t want to be smelled and be associated with Tum Yum Soup.

The opening of Riviera Verbena is a true dazzler—a green-tart verbena done to perfection. BUT—Ms. Nicolai, the calone. I know, I absolutely was aware of what I was getting myself into, as it does appear in the notes pyramid, but I just didn't expect to subjugate all else in the composition. If it were just dialed down from its chlorinated level, it would've thought it to be sublime, but I like my calone in measured, VERY measured, doses. Otherwise, it's nice to see that a classic citrus aromatic such as this is being released for contemporary consumption.

Tested this for several wears. The opening was pleasant but this does not work on my skin. For me, it was lemon/citrus with hints of mint and verbena that unfortunately remind me of a generic mid level hotel bath product: soapy and synthetic. The dry down became overpoweringly so. It has moderate silage and longevity and is unisex, leaning masculine. I love verbena and will continue looking. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

The opening has a nice lemon scent, but it is spoiled by too much calone, which dominates the drydown. Oh well.

For (just) the very first few minutes it smells like a decent and radiant citrus/verbena accord. Enter the cheap and screechy synthetics: these completely take over after a while and make this thing smell unbelievably cheap and harsh. At this price point I would expect something definitely better. Awful. Definitely do not impulse buy: do get a sample, try it on an then (probably) buy something else. The much cheaper Verbena from L'Occitane is a fraction of the cost and smells way more pleasant.

A classic green herbal fragrance. Honestly, I find it difficult to perceive this as a true personal perfume. To me, it smells more like a home fragrance like a diffuser, an air freshener or perhaps a linen spray. A neutral, fresh and green scent associated with cleanliness and herbs. It lacks the kind of personality, depth or distinctive character that would make me want to wear it on my skin as a fragrance. Yes, it is fresh, clean and unobtrusive, but for me it works far better as a scent for a space rather than for a person.

I was going to like this one very much, as I like green scents, but on me, the black currant is prominent, so it actually comes off as fruity-green, which isn't my thing. Apart from citruses, I'm not into anything fruity.

I don’t understand all the purist whining about Calone? The combo of the verbena and calone sound great to me, I like calone (because it makes things smell good!) so Im looking forward to getting my sample of this soon!

This one lives in same universe as Hacivat/Cedrat Boise/Aventus. More close to Hacivat for me. I wouldn’t call it a clone but it does remind you of those

Smells like a unisex version of Guerlain Le Frenchy to me. Really good stuff for hot summer days.

It smells like an attempt to create something similar to Chanel Les Eaux, but not as good.

Really surprised Eau de Geurlain isn't in the "smells like" section.

Fresh, green, citrussy. Similar to Chanel Paris - Biarritz. Love it!
