Papilefiko

Papilefiko is such a weird but very likeable fragrance that I can only describe as a hidden gem in the most literal sense. it opens quite sweet, airy, a littel fresh, and very aromatic, with the only defining notes i can smell being the Cardamom, the Balsam fir (i think its that?), and citruses, however very quickly after the opening the main scent profile appears, and this is where it gets even weirder but in the best way possible. What i mainly get is a lot of Cardamom and Coriander, not enough to be spicy to the nose, but enough to give warmth without being spicy, and inviting without being imperative to those around you. Next i get on my skin is a LOT of sweet resinous styrax, as sweet as the Amyris in Amyris homme if that makes sense (they smell nothing alike, just for comparisons sake), and lastly i get some Moss to add texture and body to each whiff, along with some excellently blended lavender that merges/combines with all the other notes to the point its hard to isolate with smell alone, its very well blended and further gives this fragrance an appealing profile while staying quite unique. And it keeps this scent profile of a pleasantly weird sweet, aromatic, resinous fougere-esque scent for the rest of its wearing. As for the Blazing Mr. Sam comparisons, its been a year or 2 since I've smelt it, but it only vaguely reminds me of it in the opening, but that's about it, from what I remember Mr. Sam was a lot warmer and had tobacco in it, Papilefiko on the other hand is much more resinous and sweeter if I had to compare them As for how it wears, I get a firmly medium projection, but even the slightest bit of sweating or physical activity that warms your body up a fair amount makes this fragrance become much stronger and also even a little sweeter, so if its colder its medium, if it (or you) are warmer its quite strong but not cloying, as for you longevity on my skin i got around 10ish hours, but by the 8th hour onwards its quite hollow and not as present. as for seasons to wear it, this could be a signature scent easily, and is perfect on all days except the most blistering hot circumstances, and even now as I'm writing this in 27 degree weather with very high humidity it feels right at home. in that line of thinking this is equally good for casual and formal occasions, as it's sweet enough to be inviting (but not cloying), and intriguing and aromatic enough to not be overbearing but to let your presence be felt all the same, it leans masculine as well in my opinion, but a Lady could very much enjoy and wear this fragrance. Honestly this is very much a hidden gem within Nishane, and i personally think it MORE than deserves to be up there with Hacivat, Ani, and Wulong Cha, but in the same vein, I will happily keep this semi-gatekept, as it makes you a hidden gem in the rough when you wear it. phenomenal perfumery, and my 2nd favourite Nishane, second only to Ani X which is my favourite fragrance OAT, but if it didn't exist, Papilefiko would be an easy 1st place, and quite frankly this is comfortably in my scents for life/top 10-15 fragrances without a doubt. Easily my favourite fragrance of this genre, and has a wearing experience that makes you feel upscaled, content, and confident all at the same time. definitely worth smelling if you have not already, full marks from me as an enthusiast and fan of the house. objectively a 9-9.5/10 (in my opinion) personal 10/10 though

The way I thought this fragrance would smell based off the notes listed couldn't be further from how this fragrance actually smells. From the notes listed, I was expecting something akin to a spicier Prada Luna Rossa Homme or even a modern twist or avant garde take on a fougère fragrance. Despite reviews on Fragrantica relating this fragrance to Penhaligons Halfeti, I took those comparisons with a grain of salt as some people come here to troll compositions or review fragrances they haven’t even smelled. However, I must say, the comparisons to Halfeti is absolutely true. I’ve never smelled ‘The Blazing Mr Sam’ but I own Halfeti and the similarities are undeniable. Papilefiko smells like Halfeti with a bit of sweetness added. The sweetness is vanillic but airy and diffusive and has an almost citrus like freshness to it without smelling overtly citric. It’s done very cleverly. This vanillic sweetness is anchored by what I consider to be an almost exact re-creation of the Halfeti DNA. The distinct woody accord in Halfeti is reeled back in the Papilefiko iteration but still present which is curious considering there is no woody note listed in the note breakdown. How the perfumer was able to create this fragrance from the notes listed is very clever because I would have never guessed these notes could come together to create an ‘Halfeti-ish’ dupe, but here were are! I do really love this composition though and I’d even recommend it for a blind buy if you enjoy Halfeti. The performance is great, lasting 8+ hours on my skin, the sillage is very pleasant and sexy and the price on the gray market is very reasonable for a niche fragrance from a renowned niche house. 9/10.

Dark, Green with orange facets. Really well blended, comes across as a smoother and slightly greener version of Desir Toxic. This smells amazing. It's mature. Think 30+ and masculine leaning. Not for close encounters, though, at least not the first 30 minutes. Wife told me it was too strong for cuddling. This is a more outdoorsy or a personal scent in my opinion when you are just working in your office. The profile smells different up-close than further away. The sillage has a luxury edge to it and it smells comforting with a dose of maturity. The sillage is amazing on this. I like it for a quick meet and greet. Don't hang around with the same crowd for too long. Or a boss walking into the office to say quick hello. Most importantly, not hanging around for too long. I feel this is where the scent carries it's most power. It's alluring and its complex to figure out. Smells luxurious and comforting but could be too much for some. Mr. Sam is more youthful imho. I see this as a matured Mr. Sam. Having smelled Rouge540 about a billion times now it seems. I don't see the resemblance. Downvoting that comparison. This is more Mr. Sam/Desir Toxic and Halfeti, but definitely it's own thing! Hopefully my nose is still intact, but I am getting the same fir as Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme, though that one leans more masculine soapy in the dry-down

Upon first spray on my arm and testing this against PDM Haltane, I am not getting that close of a vibe that many are comparing. Haltane has more of a sweeter vibe to it while Pap is way more dry and dusty. Read further for my thoughts on Pap... Pap is straight up dry, dusty woods. I get two images in my mind... One is at a lumber mill where boards are sawn and drying in the sun with a strong oakmoss carpeting. It's all dry and just letting all that moisture evaporate to prepare the wood for its use. The second image is that of Merlin in a dungeon surrounded by dusty, old leather bound books and scrolls that he is pouring over by candle light. The smell of old and dustiness is very present which I believe is the woods and oakmoss. I got zero citrus on my skin and it went straight up woods and oakmoss. It's a pleasant fragrance and one I would wear when I am ready for my scholarly duties as a teacher and professor. It puts me in the mindset of setting down and getting to work to exercise my brain and getting to business. This is an intellectuals fragrance for scholarly and those of higher intellect seeking answers to difficult problems. A strong work ethic. A desire to achieve what has not been done.

This is a beautiful fragrance that doesn’t get much attention like the Tero or Kredo from the same collection, but is gorgeous. It’s sophisticated and masculine. This is a fragrance that grabs the attention, not for someone who wants to go unnoticed. It does smell in the alley of Penhaligon’s Mr. Sam or Halfeti. if you have any of those perfumes it will be redundant but in the other hand you will find a better deal of this perfume on discounters sites. I bought a decant to test it, I might come back later with mi notes on the performance. Edit: I end up buying a 100ml bottle, since I felt it was a fresher side of Halfeti. I read before this perfume had bad performance but on me is nuclear it last on my skin 8+ hours, the clothes I’m wearing with it will keep on smelling like Papilefiko even after washing it, even at the next day it reactivates when Im showering. I can’t se nowhere near I can finish the 100ml bottle (same with Fan Your Flames).But this is how it behaves on my skin, I still recommend to try it before commit to a full bottle.

Papilefiko feels like spice carried on dry air. The opening immediately leans into cardamom and warmth, but it doesn’t come across heavy or syrupy. There’s a subtle brightness underneath that keeps it from collapsing into density. It’s textured rather than sweet. What stands out most is the balance between structure and edge. The spices feel intentional, almost architectural. Nothing is soft or fluffy here, it has presence, but it’s a thinking person’s presence. As it settles, the woodiness and resinous touches start to show. It becomes warmer, slightly mysterious, and more grounded without ever becoming loud. Projection is noticeable, but not chaotic. It moves with you. This isn’t a mass-appeal fragrance. It has personality. It works best when you want to feel deliberate and composed, but not conventional. It’s not comforting in a gourmand way. It’s comforting in a structured, confident way. Not for everyone, but very distinctive and I love it. Scent: 9/10 | Longevity: 8.5/10 | Projection: 7.5/10 | Overall: 9/10

This stuff is beautiful. Their signature style shines through, reminding me a lot of fan your flames. If you took out the booziness and coconut sweetness from Fan Your Flames, and refined the edges boosting up a little spice and light floral to the blend, a more specific and mature scent (to me) than FYF, not that FYF is juvenile by any means, this just doesn't rely on the piña colada aspect to tie it together, brings a unique forest-y resin type accord on its own, for fans of the house I'd highly recommend. I still will default to Sultan Vetiver as my top Nishane, but this is pretty close. I'd have to get my nose on Haltane again to try to smell for the comparison, but when I smelled it I remember mostly getting some medicinal oud accord, Papilefiko is almost an oud-'natured' fragrance if you will, but 0 actual oud smell, but hey now I'm curious to smell Haltane again.

I’m in love with this one. It’s a very unique scent. It’s fresh with some sweetness, aromatic, spicy and mass appealing fragrance. If you’re looking for something smooth and easy to wear, this is the perfect pick for you. It’s very versatile. Me, personally, I’d wear it in daytime, it became like a signature scent for me. It can also be used at night, but I like to use something “sexier” or deeper at nights. I’m completely sure when I say that this might be one of the best fougere perfumes. And I say perfumes, because in my opinion is unisex. Longevity is out of this world, I mean, it’s an extrait, what else can you expect? Blind buy safe if you like la nuit de l’homme, le male le parfum or azzaro the most wanted edp; because as you can tell, the cardamom is pretty strong. Good job Nishane. 9/10

The people that convinced me this would resemble the smell of Torino 22 should be ashamed lol. Torino 22 is my favorite scent OAT, so I figured it would be inevitable for me to love this. Papilefiko is a lot more spices, green notes, with a lot less sweetness and saffron profile. Nevertheless, this was an excellent blind buy!! Im beyond satisfied, as I usually am with Nishane products. The opening was a bit body odor-ish and quite spicy. This immediately fades away about 5 minutes into the dry down and it is just delightful! Sweet/Spicy done to absolute perfection. Also, you never have to worry about longevity/projection to be an issue from the house of Nishane. 5/5 successful blind buys from Nishane so far with 2 more on the way!! Initial overall rating: 8.7/10

My first reaction is a soundly: "Wow" this stuff is not good, this stuff is reaaally good. It has a very fruity opening although it is not listed in the notes. It starts with a bang of cardamom and oriental spices, it leaves a good trail and it accompanies you in a blasamic, spicy, fruity trip. Once it dries down i totally get the Balsam Fir. The composition is also very Vibrant, stays on skyn for a long time and that's just amazing. Truly i get everything i like in a fragrance, Cardamom, a fruity opening and a masculine dried down. I have to mark this a 10/10 i get everything i want i just can't immagining anything better than what i already am smelling.

I agree with @sighduck, this smells similar to FYF if you take out the coconut and rum, but less screechy. I like FYF, but this is a lot easier to wear and more versatile. I really like this! Edit 07/08/2024: I appreciate it more after wearing this for a few days. I really like how this calms me. I don't smell any roughness or harshness from this. It also creates a big scent bubble around you, and leaves a really nice scent trail. It lasts at least 2 days on clothes (unworn to check its longevity) in an air-conditioned room, on my skin it lasts 8-9 hours depending on how active I am while wearing it. Scent: 9/10 Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 9/10

Ok I’m back. I like it more and more every time I’m smell it. It ends up being a sweet green piney aromatic scent. Love it. I wore it to work and this lady that claimed she knows fragrance said it smells like a john varvatos. I didn’t care because her man’s favorite fragrance is phantom. Anyways, 2 sprays to work (hospital) and it was fine. I got 1 compliment from another lady, But that’s it. It lasted my entire 12 hour shift. Try before you buy. This is for somewhat experienced open minded noses. This is going to be amazing in cool weather. Can’t wait till Florida cools down.

Oh yes...... This is very nice! The initial citrus assault is very pleasant and crisp, and it brings a smile to your face. As it begins to settle you get this floral whiff, which seems to linger for just a short while before giving way to the mossy and earthy base notes. It would work well in the cooler seasons, but I think I might also wear it in the summer every now and again. Imagine an evening gathering at a prestigious event. Its classy scent exudes luxury and confidence. An excellent blind buy! Rating: 8.5/10

Mango gibi, ananas gibi, hatta sanki garson sana şemsiye takılmış meyve tabağı getirmiş. 🌴🍹 Sonra hop, 10 dakika içinde bambaşka moda giriyor: birden mistik tütsü, sanki Kapalıçarşı’da turistsin ve amca sana 40 çeşit baharat koklatıyor. Parfüm resmen Galatasaray – Fenerbahçe derbisi gibi: önce samba müziğiyle sahaya çıkıyor, sonra bir anda tribünde meşale yanıyor. ⚽🔥 Hem tatlı hem baharatlı, hem de “lan bu ne güzelmiş” dedirten kaos.

My new pet peeve is folks comparing EVERYTHING to BR540. People will smell any semblance of a sweet accord in any fragrance and INSTANTLY start making BR540 comparisons. The same thing happens whenever “they” see a pineapple note and *BOOM*... “aVeNTuS dUpE” 😒 Stop it... get help... This fragrance literally smells NOTHING, and I mean N.O.T.H.I.N.G like BR540. There is sweetness in this composition but it’s not like what you get in BR540! Learn to smell a sweet accord and just let it be. Geesh!

I do have Papilefiko. 2 bottles. It's currently my 2nd fav. I was skeptic to belive Mancera Silver Blue is identical. But 99% it is. For half the price. Mancera is the original. So this is pretty expensive for a clone. I've just acquired Silver Blue, can't say about performance yet. This really is a true Masculine sensational scent. Girls at work were amazed, but also by the price which is too high :) My hairdresser was obssesed by it when he smelled it on me, and also his wife :)

Papilefiko has been one of my favourite fragrances during winter-spring times. A love at first sight. Such a fresh scent mixed with the perfect amount of woody and spicy accords accompanied by some sweetness and underlying fruitiness. This was also one of my rare blind buys and I don't regret it at all. It smells crazy on my skin, the projection is insane and the sillage is incredible. There are so many comparison made with it, I won't do that, it's a great scent. Rating: 9.5/10;

Başlangıçta biberiyeyle ferah bir şekilde açılıyor. Zamanla biberiye geri planda kalıp, odunsu ve baharatlı bir kokuya dönüşüyor. Bu nota geçişlerini de çok güzel veriyor. Bana göre Nishane’nin en underrated parfümüdür. Tam bir imza parfüm. Sonbahar ve ilkbahar için mükemmel bir seçenek. Yaz aylarında açık havada biraz ağır kaçabilir ama dozunda kullanılırsa yazın da tercih edilebilir. Kalıcılık ve yayılım konusunda da oldukça başarılı. Genel beğeniye uygun bir parfüm. 8.5/10

Halfeti, Torino 22, Silver Blue, and this. Even Jazz Club. Nearly all are identical. But I think that this and Halfeti stand above the rest in quality and longevity. Torino is a little fresher than the rest, but the longevity is average. Silver Blue is the heaviest, but it also has the typical Mancera lack of quality and hamfisted blending. Jazz Club is nice but lasts about twenty minutes. Get Papilefiko or Halfeti, no need to buy both and waste money on redundancy.

Tempted to wear this to work. Definitely will only be 2 maybe 3 sprays because this is strong and last long. I like it though. Has an aromatic slightly sweet green herbal fresh spicy tinge to it. Edit: ok so 3 sprays in my fragrance room and I can smell it down the hallway. Damn it smells nice but might be to much for my work environment (hospital). That balsam fir smells sweet, green and piney. I can’t wait till it cools down in Florida to wear this one
